Reviews for Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu
Review 1:I very much like the location. as a first time Tokyo visitor, was so much amazed with the proximity to the food and shopping places and the limited tourism spots I know about the city.
Review 2:They didnt state the floor on the bus airport service confirmation. No clear instruction where to go so we almost missed the bus.
Review 3:We like that it is near the restaurants and there is a mall beside it. But most of all, you can view the famous Shibuya crossing from the hotel (esp from 14th floor).
Review 4:Pricy and need to pay additional accommodation tax of 120yen per person per night. The toilet has a strong urine stench which can be smelled even with the toilet door shut. The front desk staff was kind enough to disinfect the toilet personally. However the urine stench is still lingering throughout our stay.
Review 5:Location
Review 6:I dont like the smell and dust of the carpet and the noise or wang wang of the police cars at midnight.
Review 7:Location is very good coz of lot of restaurants, shops and the train station & bus station is infront or beside the hotel. 7eleven at the side.
Review 8:The location is perfect if you are in Tokyo for the first time. Metro in the same building. The view is amazing! I asked for a room up high and they put me in Heaven...!
Review 9:Because it's so well located, you will not get much rest or peace & quiet, if that's important as well. Room was too cluttered with useful furniture & appliances that it felt rather cramped.
Review 10:Location is fantastic for deep exploring of Shibuya, which has so much to offer. Super practical & convenient. Loved the Nespresso machine!
Review 11:The room was small, the staff were ok but not as friendly as in other places i stayed in in japan.
Review 12:The perfect location, right in the middle of shibuya and you can enjoy the famous crossing from the room. Shibuya station is a few steps away. The price was realistic given the location
Review 13:Cost of breakfast buffet - delicious but pricey.
Review 14:Location, location, location! What more can you ask for - close to everything - shopping, restaurants and the train!
Review 15:Not really a bad experience, but felt there was no personalization in the ways guest are treated. More like business-oriented.
Review 16:I mostly liked the location and the connection with the train and subway station. You can easily go anywhere and go out and find a place to eat almost any sort of food. Hotel was nice and comfortable.
Review 17:The rooms are a bit small but very functional and all in room features are well thought. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Locations is perfect just in the middle of everything.
Review 18:They gave us 1 towel n 1 kimono everyday although i did leave a messages to the house keeper to add some more.
Review 19:The location just perfect to stroll around Shibuya and very close to Shibuya Station.
Review 20:If it's your first time to go japan or tokyo, better research first on how to navigate the shibuya station so you can reach the hotel without getting lost.
Review 21:Location! Pretty much accessible to everything
Review 22:No where for Taxis to pick you up / upon check out no assistance was provided to get to airport
Review 23:Concierge were great in assisting how to get to places. The location as well as the size of the room was excellent.
Review 24:They should have variation of menu for their western buffet.
Review 25:The location is excellent! It is very close to shops and the train station. The view from our hotel rooms are very nice.
Review 26:It was their 15th anniversary and my husband and I were staying here 15 years ago too. Room has kept really well, however, bathroom was really neglected and became sad, really warn out. Hope they will update all the bath room and it will be the perfect hotel!
Review 27:The location is amazing. Just right above one the busiest station in Japan gives you the real sense of Tokyo. The breakfast in Japanese restaurant was amazing. Room deco was very tasteful and pleasant.
Review 28:A bit pricy.
Review 29:fantastic location. Incredible views of Tokyo. Massive shopping and people watching. The daily breakfast was exceptional, both the western and the Japanese.
Review 30:In terms of location I was very satisfied, it was Very convinient because it was close to all of the drugstores, restaurants and shops. Also, the room was very spacious and clean.
Review 31:Poor air circulation Bathroom was basic No complimentary bottled water
Review 32:Location with JR / subway access Overlooking shibuya crossing Great for shopping / late eating Nespresso machine Money well spent Japanese hospitality
Review 33:They stuck me in the very worst room, the end room of the lowest level with now view where you could hear and feel the trains below, and were unwilling to provide a room change. Quite disappointing.
Review 34:Location is very convenient. We go there with two kids. It is very easy to find food and restaurant and easy for transpiration from Airport. The Airport Shuttle Bus is in the hotel area.
Review 35:poor WiFi connectvity.
Review 36:excellent location for us. good for shopping. good for transportation both from Haneda airport to here or from here to many destinations.
Review 37:Staff spoke English but some were slightly rude, seeming too busy to help with simple questions like where is the closest 7/11 for money exchange. But others were more than helpful
Review 38:Fantastic position next to to the station (which can be kind of loud until midnight or so). Busy station with multiple lines allowing for easy access to other areas yet in the heart of Shibuya shopping precinct. Room had a PERFECT view of the Shibuya crossing (scramble). Room 2402 (top floor and close to the corner) Strongly recommend for position alone. Room was a very decent size for Tokyo aswell - easily fitting two people, bags and plenty of space.
Review 39:The rates had increased by over 80% within 2 years since we first stayed there. Will not return to the hotel again if the rates escalate further.
Review 40:Easy access to Tokyo transport system. Plenty of eating places nearby. Very convenient for travellers arriving by air from overseas with limousine buses from the airport stopping directly at the entrance of the hotel. Staff are very helpful in attending to our needs
Review 41:The room is too small, had to upgrade to a bigger one on my last night.
Review 42:The location is great for shopping and food. Easy to find my way around. Direct airport limousine to the hotel.
Review 43:The room is too small, but the most disappointed is the 1st staff i've encountered in the reception who treats me indifferently, it's a middle-aged man who speak poor english without any smile on his face
Review 44:The location is good and convenient
Review 45:The hotel is in a great location, right above Shibuya station which means you can get a train to all the major attractions. There are heaps of good restaurants in the building, plus others an easy walking distance away. We asked for a room on a high floor which had an amazing view and was quiet. The room was also a good size and very comfortable. Would recommend anyone to stay here who wants to be close to the action, see the Shibuya crossing and have easy access to transport.
Review 46:For the money, room was just okay. Bathroom was tiny, more like a business hotel than a $300+ night hotel. Imperial Hotel is so much better, but Shibuya Excel location was convenient for leisure trip.
Review 47:Location and view
Review 48:Hotel receptionist staffs need to be more patience on serving the guests. The receptionist charged my credit card for the total bill without asking to me first. I was planning to pay the bill with cash to avoid higher currency exchange through credit card.
Review 49:Strategic location
Review 50:They only had washing machines on three of the floors.
Review 51:The hotel was clean. modern and spacious and its position was convenient and exciting - right above the train station and Mark City shopping centre and overlooking all the lights and action of Shibuya including the famous multi pedestrian crossing! Although so close to the action, our rooms were quiet.
Review 52:A tad expensive, but that comes with the territory I guess.
Review 53:Location: lots of places to walk to, as well as a nearby train to go anywhere else. Personnel speaks fluent English. Spotless rooms. Light controls on the night table -- extremely convenient.
Review 54:In house cafe charging $11 for capaccino, no ironing board in the room where my minor gripes.
Review 55:The ease of transferring to and from airports whether by bus or train makes it's location overlooking the Shibuya scramble that much more better. Top floor Japanese restaurant - amazing food & view
Review 56:Price Size of room
Review 57:Right on top of Shibuya JR train station. Excellent for connections to other Subway lines and Narita Express. Safe for teenagers as well. Views from room...stunning
Review 58:Only negative thing was we arrived at the hotel at 8:30am after 15hours of travel and couldnt check in till 2:30pm even though we had requested early check in
Review 59:Location, Location, Location.
Review 60:-convenient location, right above the Shibuya station -in the center of Shibuya intersection where all kinds of food and shops are located -we chose a room with 3 beds which was very big for city standard. -love the separate shower and toilet.
Review 61:Had to go back to the front desk to ask for a city map, not what I expected of a hotel of this price. I mean they should hand it to me along with my room key. Only city map was given, nothing more. I expected more leaflets of subway maps etc
Review 62:Excellent location. Staffs speak good English. Asked the staff for delivery service and they did it almost immediately, very efficient. Stayed at the 22nd floor, breathtaking view.
Review 63:1. It is the perfect location. 2. You have a magnificent 360 view of Tokyo. 3. Perfect travel connections: situated above a train and metro station. 4. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great restaurants on the 25th floor: 1 serves a great Japanese breakfast the other has a view of Mt Fuji on a clear day. 5. This has been my 6th stay since 2006 - and I will be back!
Review 64:location, shopping, restaurants, airport connection, transport hub, staff. everything is within reach. i always stay at this hotel whenever i'm in tokyo.
Review 65:In Shibuya square they have a public address system which is very loud. it seems to stop at around 10.00pm, but can be annoying.
Review 66:location, clean, good service, good value
Review 67:After some shady, disgusting business hotels in Tokyo, staying here was a treat. Get a high-up floor around fl 17 or above and have a spectacular view of Shibuya crossing, Yoyogi park, Harajuku, and Shinjuku beyond. Unbelievable.
Review 68:Difficult to find hotel lobby as it integrates within the shopping centre however if you take airport limo it is easier. Staff not friendly.
Review 69:Shopping and food easily accessible.
Review 70:No obvious sign from JR or subway station to the hotel. the hotel's sign for hotel entrance at the Mark City is very very small. Even I printed street view from Google map, I still walk around to find the hotel.
Review 71:This hotel has been steadily raising room rates in the 5 years or so since I've been staying here, without any change in what they offer beyond an excellent location in a part of Shibuya with limited alternatives.
Review 72:Consistently helpful staff.
Review 73:No water bottles in the room. Only hot water and coffee machines. Not a big deal but this is the first hotel that we came across this.
Review 74:As all the other reviews have stated it is the location that puts this above all others. I would definitely book again. Make your request for a higher floor and crossing view as soon as possible.
Review 75:this hotel not only is situated right in the Shibuya subway complex but also has very nice friendly English speaking staff. Hotel has the view of the famous Shibuya crossing too. As far as the hotel room is concerned, I can't complain either. I can't fault this hotel and would definitely stay here again next time.
Review 76:None at all.
Review 77:Best location. We may be lost in translation at times but Japanese people are very accommodating. I will definitely recommend this hotel. Connected to train station and food is everywhere.
Review 78:Right next to Shibuya Station Fancy hotel Staff were incredible Airport Limosuine service Computers for me to use Staff gave me print outs of where I could buy a SIM Card. This hotel was just perfect in every way
Review 79:Staff does not really speak English though they tend to nod that they do, which leads to unnecessary misunderstandings.
Review 80:Great location and view. In the vicinity of all necessary stores and quite a range of great restaurants. Shuttle bus stops in front of the hotel.
Review 81:a bit more on info on local things / location of key things in area maybe would be helpful ? but easy enough to find out ourselves via google
Review 82:great location and excellent quality - really in the heart of Tokyo and great transport links, but easy to escape into some peace and quiet at the end of the day.
Review 83:Too expensive. I know that this is what should be expected when it comes to a hotel in Tokyo. Still, too expensive.
Review 84:Location, just right in front of Shibuya station and right beside the famous Shibuya scramble crossing. Therefore, you'll be surrounded with hundred of shops and foods. The room is bigger than your average Tokyo's hotel.
Review 85:No mini-bar haha No iron (I know that's the norm, but still annoys me)
Review 86:Fantastic location in the heart of Shibuya with direct access to all public transport. Very easy to find from the train (West Exit / Tamagawa Exit / Green Mark City Signs). The only staff interaction we had was checking in/out and breakfast which was easy and spoke English. Western buffet is slightly expensive but good range, easier than finding somewhere and a fantastic view from the 25th floor. Stayed in room 1802, wonderful view of the crossing, Yoyogi Park, across to Shinjuku etc. xx01 rooms are the corner rooms with best crossing view. The crossing TVs etc. create a bit of noise so it wasn't dead quiet in our room until about midnight each night. It's not loud but if you're a light sleeper be aware, you can hear it. Decent sized room with a desk and chairs, very comfortable and clean. Fast Wi-Fi. You may find somewhere better value for money but it's worth it for the location.
Review 87:On the station, right in the heart of Shibuya entertainment, shopping and dining. Clean, useful facilities, friendly staff and valued at a reasonable price.
Review 88:- Can increase more international TV channel
Review 89:- There are Many good restaurant nearby. - You can still eat ramen at midnight. - close to metro - very good service - direct bus from airport to hotel
Review 90:Amazing location over the insanely busy Shibuya Crossing/Shibuya Station. But once you're in the lobby, it's quiet and calm. Helpful staff. In-rooms: Cotton bathrobes and slippers, great coffee, powerful a/c, hot hot water, speedy wifi, comfy bed. Very relaxing room.
Review 91:No rooftop bar. (having yukatas in the rooms could have been a nice touch)
Review 92:If you have heavy luggage, and planning to do lots of shopping, this is the hotel to stay (in Shibuya). connection to Narita express front he same building. Excellent view of the Tokyo skyline Enough room for luggage in the room
Review 93:People still tend to smoke on a non smoking floor or room so there is always a lingering smoke smell, even though it is faint, it never really goes away
Review 94:The location was excellent, direct access to the trains, multiple shops and eateries nearby and it also has bus services to the airport just outside the entrance.
Review 95:Nothing
Review 96:Great location right on Shibuya subway but no noise problems All toiletries and hair dryer provided. Wi fi in room good Very comfy beds, had a twin room so gave extra space in room.
Review 97:Vibration from trains every time they pass. No clear markings/signage to direct driver to the main lobby or back lobby.
Review 98:it was at the middle of town with easy access to the metro
Review 99:The staff were not very friendly. Upon arrival we were upsold from a basic room on the 7th floor to the 23rd floor for an additional 4000 yen/night... this made an already expensive booking even more expensive though the view from the 7th floor would have been terrible (ask what floor they've put you on when you check in - if you're already paying a lot of money, you'll probably want to pay extra to be up higher). The first night the sheets and a towel had gross stains on them. There was CNN and BBC news (the only English channels) but the remote only worked when it is within 30cm of the TV (even after the batteries were replaced). No in house gym facilities. All in all, this hotel is way overpriced for what was offered.
Review 100:The location was really excellent - a very short walk from the Shibuya train station. The air conditioning was great (and quiet). Nescafe machines in the rooms to make a decent coffee (new pods provided daily - though often decaf ones were provided). The bed was very large. Free wifi was appreciated and the coverage was good. The view from the 23rd floor (city facing) was fantastic (though if you're lower down, it will be much less impressive).
Review 101:small room
Review 102:location
Review 103:No body lotion provided
Review 104:Location! Right in the middle of action. You can get food within 2 minutes which was convenient.
Review 105:Room was a little small.
Review 106:The location was ideal and convenient. A little noisy even when we stayed on the 22nd floor.
Review 107:Small room size
Review 108:Good place near station
Review 109:Reception talking to customer while doing their own stuff.
Review 110:Close to everything
Review 111:No tissue box in toliet
Review 112:Location nice view a lot of choices for restaurants and shops
Review 113:Breakfast wasn't really worth it's price (international buffet)
Review 114:Limited facilities
Review 115:Even on our 10th floor, train and construction noise is annoying.
Review 116:Shibuya has everything, trains, retail and food.
Review 117:sarcastic front desk whom we asked her if we could leave out bags
Review 118:the location & vire
Review 119:Amazing location. Rooms were a nice size, considering that rooms in Japan are usually quite small. Very convenient and great views.
Review 120:Bathroom
Review 121:The size of the bathroom was tiny!
Review 122:The location and view are excellent.
Review 123:Amazing location. Expensive breakfast but worth it once for the spread and the view!
Review 124:Hard to find from train station, breakfast only available at hotel (but good)
Review 125:Swank and comfortable
