Reviews for Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort & Hotel Spa

Review 1:Small things..... but you could add tea/coffee making in the rooms and have ironing board and iron available free in each room, need to offer more than 1 english speaking channel on TVs - use sky , chromecast, smart TV whatever

Review 2:Top hotel, Location is excellent, staff were very nice and professional at all times, breakfast was excellent, really enjoyed our stay and will be back

Review 3:"Resort view" is actually a view to the parking lot, hotel buildings are rather ugly, and it's sad to see so much construction on what used to be beautiful beaches!!!

Review 4:Room was spacious, service good, hotel on the beach

Review 5:The spa stated "Turkish Bath". It was a steam room, also some of the gym equipment was not up to standard.

Review 6:The hotel and staff were wonderful

Review 7:Slow checkin/checkout process due to long introductions of staff to newly arriving clients

Review 8:Good location near hiking paths along the sea. Good breakfast buffet. Friendly staff.

Review 9:Nothing bad, but would have liked teamaking facility for early morning.

Review 10:Comfortable large room, with amazing beach views and balcony to enjoy it. good lifts, helpful happy staff Counter staff helpful and always cheerful. Shop useful.

Review 11:Even only half-full, the hotel has problems with capacity, in several areas: * The WiFi was simply disgraceful - slow and often wouldn't assign IP addresses. Based on some debugging I did, it was being overwhelmed by the number of devices that tried to connect. * The gym was too small for this sort of facility. Of the two treadmills, one was permanently and the other occasionally broken. * The very infrequent shuttle service to Albufeira was struggling even with only half the hotel capacity. In my own experience, even 20 minutes of queuing didn't guarantee a spot on the shuttle. In addition, there were some quality issues: * The staff at the Atlantic restaurant was unfriendly and even slower than the already low standard of the region. This alone made me take off one rating for the staff. * The coffee at the poolside bar should be declared a crime against humanity.

Review 12:The place has lots going for it, in particular: * Excellent location. On top of Praia Santa Eulalia, a quiet and very clean beach, which doesn't get too many noisy people. Also, 10 minutes walking from The Strip (party area) and 45 from Albufeira Old Town (also available with a taxi under 8 Euros) * Very friendly and attentive staff at the reception desk, pool bar and in the wellness center. * Great rooms, clean environment and relatively quiet (it was off-season, though). * We greatly appreciated the complimentary bottle of champagne and small snacks waiting for us in our honeymoon suite.

Review 13:I know it was quite season but the pool bar to open at certain times during the day would have been nice.

Review 14:Great hotel didnt use much of the hotel facilities. Staff were so nice. Loved the beach. The cleaning lady located to 471 apartments was so nice and pleasant.

Review 15:We have been here before and again the hotel didn't disappoint us! Great resort with everything we needed on site. Shops not too far away and guaranteed support from the staff to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

Review 16:We were very disappointed with the restaurants. La Pergola was closed all but one evening, the Santa Eulalia restaurant was closed on several days and the buffet was expensive and had a poor choice of food.

Review 17:The location is fantastic, with a beautiful beach and very close to Albuferia.

Review 18:The furniture and the carpet in the room were not indicating that you are in a five star hotel, rather a three star. They offer free WiFi, however the speed is terrible, thus we ended up not even wanting to use it. No concierge service and no ATM on site. I would not call this a drawback, however we were a bit disturbed by the many kids around - apparently a perfect hotel for families.

Review 19:All in all a good hotel, however we would not rate this as a five-start hotel - some small details are missing. Price-quality relationship not really convincing. The staff was friendly, however not very prepared to answer questions, thus we totally missed a concierge service. Our sea-view room was big, with a very nice balcony and view. The bed was perfect, very comfortable. They have a very good breakfast, a rich offer. The other restaurants on site are also very good. They have in total 5 pools - 2 close to the villas and 3 close to the hotel. As we travelled in September we had no problems with finding a free place at the pool. What we definitely enjoyed was that the pools all had a different water temperature. A really big advantage of the hotel is the St. Eulalia Beach - which is like 1 minute from the hotel - very clean and offering a beautiful scenery. After a short walk one can get to the new city center very easily. However to the old town, a taxi might be needed.

Review 20:Queuing for breakfast not really a 5 star experience. Pools too small and simple (just 2 round ones - one heated one ambient) bearing in mind the size of the hotel. Painfully slow wifi.

Review 21:Nice location very close to good beach. Quality of food good. Drinks reasonably priced.

Review 22:Only one pool was heated, so kids got cold unless really hot weather. Single heated pool was busy and obviously less clean due to number of swimmers.

Review 23:Facilities and location fantastic. Would recommend. Buffet excellant too

Review 24:The hotel was beautiful both inside and out and is situated just a short walk from the new town. The hotel ran free buses to both sides of Albufuria. The staff where very helpful and pleasant.

Review 25:Well .. first of all, the queue at breakfast: it's BIG if you come from 9:30 onwards and it gets bigger as minutes go by. We were always there at 9:15 to avoid it. The wifi is awful, but it's not a private wifi. They use the vodafone one, which I think the whole Albufeira uses. A 5* hotel should def have a private network. And what really bugged me was the pool: there are two round pools, one next to the other, but both with cold water (as the ocean is not cold enough) and too tiny. Why not make a big one out of those two, and make two small ones? PS: they also have one for kids next to these two, so that couldn't be a reason :)

Review 26:It was our first time in Portugal and after juggling between two hotels, I chose Grande Real: and I couldn't have been more happier with my decision. The location of the hotel is excellent: next to the beach (there are no private beaches in Algarve, all are public but Grande Real is one of the fewest hotels in Albufeira with beach access), 10 minutes away from the old centre by car and 5 minutes away from the new centre. Rooms are spacious and comfy, with big bathrooms and a balcony. We tried the SPA once and it was great, so great that we were sorry we haven't tried it twice :) - I recommend it, especially in those foggy mornings. Breakfast is good, but not the best. Lunch is much better than breakfast. However, they have fresh orange juice which you can get without any extra charges. Big thumbs up for the staff: reception staff is always there to help you and you never wait more than a few minutes. I would gladly recommend this hotel to my friends.

Review 27:both ATM machine and shops quite far away - the hotel should gave better access to shop for self catering customers

Review 28:great hotel with private access to gorgeous beach

Review 29:There were ants coming every evening all over our sofa cum bed...Even thought they didn't bite :-) When brought to the attention the staff cleared it.

Review 30:Awesome facilities for kids and adults alike...We enjoyed our self catering apartment which was very spacious....the staff were very friendly and helpful....The kids club kept our young ones (4y and 1y) thoroughly busy and excited

Review 31:The hotel has 4 pools the two out by the appartments were great - but I thought the 2 main pools could have been a bit different and more imaginatively designed.

Review 32:Great hotel and location and the staff were really helpful. The kids club was great and our 8 year old didn't want to leave it! We were self catering but ate in the restaurants in the evenings and the food was excellent Free shuttle bus into Albufeira was handy

Review 33:Fantastic Staff made this a very enjoyable 4 day stay, 1st Aug _5th .The Apartment was also spotless, roomy and nicely proportioned. I didnot eat here so cant comment. Would return for sure and can recommendwithout hesitation. Close to Albufeira New Town area. If you leave thehotel for a night out try the indian sizzler, it was absolutely amazing, the hotel reception will book and reserve a table for you. All in allthis is a great place to stay and the team there really know how to lookafter their guests. Special mention for trainee receptionist ines, shewas so helpful. Thank you all Paddy x

Review 34:Meals very expensive if not booked as package -20euros for breakfast No facilities for self catering in studio-no plates or cooking utensils No free sun-loungers on beach

Review 35:The location is fantastic-right on a beautiful beach No shortage of sun-loungers at pool areas Very clean resort

Review 36:WiFi rubbish, pool bar staff rude, and pool bar is expensive, some rooms, need. Refurb, but they are very clean.

Review 37:great experience, great setting, staff care at reception, beach mega and water sports guys, great location for a relaxed break with family, but you can't have it all..... 9.5 out of 10 I give this hotel...

Review 38:We absolutely loved our time at the Grande Real (myself, my wife and two little ones, aged 7 and 4). The staff were very friendly and helpful, the facilities were amazing, the Kids Club was brilliant and we had no negatives at all during our 8 night stay there. Very highly recommended, especially if you are travelling with little ones.

Review 39:beds very unconfortable. room service and housekeeping failed. last row of apts way too far, too many stairs.

Review 40:location is very good. reception staff quite good. nice buildings/gardens landscaping. good beach.

Review 41:As above

Review 42:Didn't expect to have to pay five euro per day for iron. No wi fi. Hair 47.50 for blow dry and was a mess. Buffet 29 for piece of chicken not made clear we were paying thats each rather than paying for bit we eat. Drink very expensive compared to town. Not walking distance from town

Review 43:Discoloured carpets in the bedroom and grubby tiles in the the bathroom. Staff in the cafe near the beach were sullen and unhelpful, at times they would deliberately ignore you when you were trying to attract their attention.

Review 44:Setting was beautiful and resort peaceful. Easy access to the beach.Staff on reception were very helpful and informative.

Review 45:There are a number of steps to get down to the beach so wouldn't recommend if have mobility issues. We brought up and down the buggy to the beach everyday - ok it's a bit of a chore but it helped to work off the calories from all the constant eating!!!

Review 46:The staff at the Grande Real were so warm and friendly to us and more importantly our little one it really made our holiday. The Realto kids club was great, as were the kids pools which there where plenty of. The views and the beach is beautiful with plenty of activity there. Fantastic self catering facilities and the rooms and complex is kept immaculate. Loved the Alantico for our breakfast. Would highly recommend for those that want a relaxing family holiday.

Review 47:first room 338 which was allocated to us was definately not 5 Star status. On entering the room the first thing staring at us was a massive stain on the carpet. Then as we drew the curtains to balcony another big stain on carpet plus dampness on bottom of wall which was hidden by the curtains. We complained and they changed our room...much better but still stains but not as bad. NOT 5 STAR IN OUR OPINION.

Review 48:The location of hotel good... short distance to beach which was very clean. Spa excellent.

Review 49:We didn't sample the restaurant as we didn't hear good feedback from our friends. They paid 30euros per meal that they didn't enjoy. No iron or tea making facilities in the rooms. Really needed both. It's 5euros per day for iron hire.

Review 50:We just got back from a wedding of good friends of ours and had a fabulous time! Ceremony, reception after party in Le Club were all beautiful, amazing food (I've never liked food at weddings). All locations have amazing views of the sea. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned, fresh towels provided every day. The reception staff were all friendly and more than happy to help. I wish I took note of their names - everything from making restaurant reservations to helping me with the cigarette machine lol. Room service was quick and food was still piping hot - gold star from me. Beautiful location, 2 minute walk to beach - you must try the peri peri chicken at the Pescadero restaurant on the beach! We had it 5 days out of the 8 that we stayed there. Partner used gym every day, many of our friends had massages and loved it. Spa pool looked amazing. A few of the girls had haircuts at the beauty salon and were pleased.

Review 51:Nothing major but would have liked to have a check out at 12 than 10 am for apartments . They ought to get rooms ready for next arrivals even if check out is at 12 noon

Review 52:Great stay, nice staff , nice pools, good kids recreation, spacious apartment with good decor

Review 53:The views from the terraces and bedrooms are lovely. The food was very good. There are 3 pools with a bar for snacks and drinks. The Hotel is managed and kept spotlessly clean. There is a courtesy bus available several times a day to Albufeira.

Review 54:Would have been nice to have breakfast included in the price. Also no dinner plates or pots and pans in the kitchen.

Review 55:Loved the hotel , kids club and an outdoor heated pool. Also beach access easy and lovely beach. Appartment was cleaned every day and was very spacious for a studio.

Review 56:Long walk to other facilites and free shuttle bus has limited times and wasn't available in the evening.

Review 57:The hotel is situated next to an amazing, beautiful sandy beach. Lovely view from the terrace overlooking the sea, where you can enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ambience of the hotel also warm & friendly.

Review 58:According to the way the apartment looks like I would rather say it is a 3-star hotel. The breakfast is extremely expensive: 20 euro/person, without being very "special". 10 euro would be enough in my opinion for what you get. You have to walk a little bit to the supermarket (it's a pity the hotel doesn't have one)

Review 59:The location is nice, close to the beach and many facilities (mini-football, volley, kids-klub, playground for children). Within 10-15 min walking you find other restaurants and a nice supermarket. There is also a small shop (minimarket) at the neighboring hotel (5 min walking). The staff was very friendly and helpful, all our requests were satisfied very quickly. The kitchen in our apartment was well equipped.

Review 60:Workman looking in our room for the first 2 days, couldn't even sit on balcony as they were on the roof opersit plus we were stuck at the. Back of the hotel with bad views and a balcony that had no sun after 3 pm. Due to work going on right outside our room the noise of the workman and pressure hose on all day we had to keep leaving our room.

Review 61:Very clean, people friendly, good location.

Review 62:The public areas were freezing cold , especially the restaurant . Senior restaurant staff not pleasant . Dinner menu limited choice .

Review 63:Location is good.

Review 64:No weekend bus to town from hotel Having to pay t.o use indoor pool even when paid for a spa treatment

Review 65:Spa massage Friendly staff Location December warm weather a surprise

Review 66:hallways outside room were not well lit on floor 1.

Review 67:Reception desk was very friendly and helpful. beautiful beach. Centrally located on the coast making day trips to east and west very easy. November stay with cool and overcast weather prevented us from using pool and beach but would be great in warmer times.

Review 68:it's a bit far away from the town and there is nothing around. So, if you would like to have an evening walk there is no place to go.

Review 69:very nice people, very helpfull. The hotel is very close to the ocean

Review 70:Bed a bit on firm side. Use of indoor pool considered at spa treatment and prohibitively expensive

Review 71:'Studio' apartment very spacious and well equipped. Kitchenette very good except no mugs for us Brits! Lovely local beach for strolling Outdoor pools heated even in November to 28c Heating in room worked well when needed! Wifi worked well

Review 72:limited wi-fi connection in room which was frustrating; shower broken in spa

Review 73:Cleanliness, service, comfort, hotel location and design - all round was excellent experience and fabulous value; we'll certainly consider returning.

Review 74:beautiful hotel with super view and near the beach. great breakfast. didnt eat dinner there . This is a taxi into albefuria if you need to go there, but otherwise great if you dont want to sight see.

Review 75:It´s rated as a 5*, I would Rate it more a 4*. I didn´t like carpet in room as it looked aged and dirty round the pateo doors also drink spills didn´t look very nice round the coffee table. The tennis clourts looked as if they needed resurfacing a view we had from our room.

Review 76:Location

Review 77:Apartment we stayed in the first week. Small and pokey. Too far from hotel for people with walking difficulties. Some of the Reception staff. Offhand at best and downright rude at worst.

Review 78:Proximity to the beach. Beach front restaurants. View from hotel bedroom.

Review 79:Wifi was inconsistent. I could use my Ipad but could not get emails or internet on my phone. Slightly out of the way but only a short walk to the bars, restaurants etc approximately 15 minutes walk.

Review 80:Male staff on the reception were extremely helpful and friendly. Gorgeous hotel on the beach. Great views. Stayed at the end of September, nice, quiet and relaxing. Not many children.

Review 81:Pools- too small for a hotel that has a 5 star rating, they were almostlike big tubs and were very crowded at times. Also they are circular soforget about swimming. The beach is not private, and not wellmaintained. The shower head in the room was old and looked nasty. Thehotel has a sort of a all inclusive feel except you have to pay foreverything :)

Review 82:The rooms are very nice, sound insulation was excellent. Breakfast wasgreat, lots of choices. Very large parking just in front of the hotel.Good wifi. Good seafood restaurants on the beach.

Review 83:young man at gym reception very ignorant, transfer to airport very expensive

Review 84:lovely hotel, nice pool areas, shuttle bus, lovely appartments, good gym, free safe and late checkout

Review 85:Too expensive and some restaurant staff were too rushed in trying to remove plates and cutlery rather than letting guests relax and eat in peace!

Review 86:Staff and space

Review 87:For a couple of meals at the restaurants that weren't the buffet option the vegetables and pasta dishes needed seasoning or flavor. The maid for our room was changed halfway through our stay and you could tell she was new as she missed things and didn't do as good a job compared to the first maid.

Review 88:Pools were great as was then proximity to the beach. The gym and spa facilities were terrific. The staff was always friendly and helpful.

Review 89:Spa should be included in the price (30€/h is def to expensive) as well a bottle of water per day (5,50€ from room service), no baby food at the breakfast. The way to the over crowed public beach is up- and downhill, not very comfortable for baby trollers. The dinner at hotel restaurants is a bit overpriced but still delicious.

Review 90:Nice view over the sea, grate place to stay with children, warmed pool 27' suited for swimming with baby's, nice breakfast with prosecco, fantactic Portuguese restaurants. Nice guests from diff countries (Portugal, Spain, GB, Germany, France, Marocco)

Review 91:Beds are a little hard but just ask for a mattress topper before you arrive.

Review 92:This is a great hotel, particularly for families. The location is outstanding. An excellent family holiday destination!

Review 93:The room was poor value for money the beds wasn't comfortable and the breakfast is over priced, the hotel I would rate as a 3* not a 5*. This is our 2nd stay and I don't think I will go back .

Review 94:the pool area was good

Review 95:- the variety of pools for the children - the easy access to the beach - the restaurants along the beach makes it ideal for people with children who after a long day of swimming and playing in the sun don't feel like going too far for dinner ( we only booked for half board) - the kids club is fantastic for the kids - the staff were very helpful in giving us the required information to take tour trips with the various tour groups. - the hotel facilities are great - the buffet breakfasts were out of this world, catering for everyone's taste and likes. - a fantastic hotel for people with children as it allows for children to meet other children of similar ages and make friends.

Review 96:having a set price for lunch buffet outdoor pools very small courtesy bus stopped too early in eve. some found beds very hard

Review 97:staff number 1... layout and location breakfast top class relaxed and luxurious ambience overall a very nice hotel well maintained

Review 98:Our suite room with land view was facing the outside parking and very noisy. We stayed other time and the suite room had a really beautiful land view and no noise. Unlike other stays, this time we had not welcome gift. Even with a reservation for four (2 adults and 2 children) the room was only made for three. The evening hotel animation is very poor.

Review 99:Good location next to the beach. Warm pool water. Good breakfast and dinner buffet but not so good as it was in previous years and the fact that we can not use the meal tickets in the restaurant next to the beach (also as we could in previous years). Good and friendly staff. Good kids club but we noticed less rigor on kids registration and awareness.

Review 100:- Room deco needs updating - Diving and ball games in the pool

Review 101:+Kids Club is excellent + Outside heated pool is great + Good breakfast +Outstanding location

Review 102:Very awkward to walk anywhere from the hotel. Beach below was very crowded so no privacy there. In bedroom there wasn't a long mirror. Lighting was poor and couldn't get near enough bathroom mirror for make up. Food prices significantly more expensive than local town.

Review 103:Well maintained hotel. Staff very professional. Large common areas. Nice seating. Great musical entertainment. Enjoyed breakfast coffee.

Review 104:Our bed was 2 single beds joined together so not the most comfortable, plus pillows were too soft.

Review 105:Like the various pools around the resort which meant that they were never overcrowded also the proximity to the beach. Good shuttle bus service to old town.

Review 106:Very expensive food Not friendly staff Poor service Expensive package for attractions

Review 107:Spacious room Cleanliness Near to beach Swimming pool near apartments

Review 108:Wi-fi very slow and not allways working. TV channels very limited. Pools under staffed.

Review 109:This was my 3rd time in this Hotel. I will surely recommend the Apartments over the Hotel Rooms, they are cheaper and have a lot more commodities. The location is wonderful and the teams very polite and helpful.

Review 110:Hard bed, but I am a bit of a pillowtop Princess.

Review 111:The Beach! - it's on your doorstep. You just get up, eat your buffet breakfast and wander to the beach. Bliss. Plus the fish restaurant down on the beach is delicious FRESH and the owner is lovely.

Review 112:the fitness and spa closing at 8 AM in a 5 star hotel??

Review 113:beautiful beach, very good breakfast, big room

Review 114:Charged for ironing facilities in a 5 star hotel. Also no ice facilities or cutlery given. When requested it took a long time to action.

Review 115:Apartment was spacious and comfortable.

Review 116:Very accomodating staff, great facilities, lovely bbq every lunchtime.

Review 117:beds a bit hard

Review 118:everything

Review 119:Check out at 10am

Review 120:the pools were too small

Review 121:the weather

Review 122:Bed very uncomfortable Breakfast very poor Some staff not very helpful

Review 123:The View

Review 124:Not much information available about the hotel either in the room or around the hotel. Not much to let you know about the various restaurants etc.

Review 125:The calmness by the pool, the sea view from the room. The privacy of the resort

Review 126:The WiFi & technology in the business center were not good.

Review 127:The staff was very helpful & accomodating, especially in the spa.

Review 128:Bad beds Very poor wifi Good facilities but certainly not 5 star

Review 129:Brilliant location for everything

Review 130:Proximity of beach. Cleaniless

Review 131:Queue for breakfast

Review 132:Good location, friendly staff lovely hotel indeed 5star

Review 133:Great for familys with kids. The apartments have nearby pool. The beach is 100 mts away with direct access.
