Reviews for Hotel Metropolis
Review 1:Booked a room via booking.com for €55, paid €82 at the hotel. The personnel couldn't explain why. The room was dirty, the furniture cheap and old.
Review 2:Faceless single room- even one picture of old Kaunas on the wall could be helpful. Very simple breakfast - limited amount of some products, yougurt, etc. Feeling of "second hand" accomodation- if you enjoy that it's ok, otherwise you might be annoyed.
Review 3:Best location, historical features(stained glass, antique details), clean and powerfull shower. Traditional ingredients in breakfast menu - apple jam.
Review 4:The guy at looking after breakfast table might have been more of the positive attitude
Review 5:The feeling of the Kaunas in between the wars. Receptionist was lovely: checked in, answered all the questions about the the hotel and the facilities in surrounding area. The hotel provides you with all you need for a stay and the location is just perfect. Definetely coming back :)
Review 6:The halls and rooms are old design. Especialy halls are very bad condition. Rooms are clean, but very simple.
Review 7:Good location, nice historical design reception
Review 8:Very old-fashioned, no elevator, breakfast was really poor, there was a weird smell in our room, it felt like we were at hospital.
Review 9:Great location, close to the shopping mall and restaurants, old town is close too.
Review 10:odd breakfast menu,
Review 11:good central location, a few nice period details, helpful staff, good value lunch, close to several museums & other sites, near transport links
Review 12:We couldn't sleep as our room was above the nightclub, when we left at 4am music was still on! No coffee or tee in the room, drainage in the shower room was blocked, we flooded the toilet.
Review 13:Good location and good room size.
Review 14:We have missed possibility to order coffee in room or any other additional food, were a little to cold in rooms
Review 15:Very good location of hotel, close to main street and Zalgirio arena
Review 16:Noise from the street late at night. Noisy neighbors in hotel playing loud music and no hotel staff dealt with it.
Review 17:Great location near lovely shopping street and old town.
Review 18:I have stayed here on numerous occasions and the breakfast gets worse but it still is a good hotel for the money
Review 19:Location .. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The building is old with a beautiful stain glass window on the staircase .
Review 20:incredibly hot room, no air conditioning. it was impossible to open the window overnight, because of a the very loud club or pub nearby. Very old, a bit scary-looking toilet.
Review 21:really nice interior design on the stairs and in the halls. great location
Review 22:The hotel was fantastic. As soon as you come out of the hotel , you are in the centre of everything. In the evening you have loads of bars & restaurants. The shopping centre is very near & it's not far from the old town....walking distance. The rooms are very big & very clean. Towels are changed every day. Breakfast was fantastic...you have a big variety to choose from. Staff are all very helpful. The only problem is that there is no lift! For us it wasn't a big issue but for some it might be a problem. Try to ask for a room overlooking the parking cause it's very quite there. I would certainly go back again. Thank you

Review 24:100 % satisfied, go there, it is a perfect hotel We could check earlier free of charge, delicious breakfast, nice bright room. Excellent. Good staff.
Review 25:I liked food, staff and servicing in all kinds of the hotel. Location, meal, servicing was very good. I can recommend to anybody, who want to have good price and quality deal in the centre of Kaunas city.
Review 26:The staff were always very nice and helpful. After changing my room to a much spacious room wich was much nicer and clever, I could relax and enjoy my stay. Interior of the hotel.
Review 27:Happy with everything
Review 28:The ideal hotel for a visit to Kaunas, so much in the heart of things and a pleasant and comfortable place around. Good restaurants very close at hand.
Review 29:This old hotel has probably seen better days and is in places a bit shabby, but nonetheless I loved it for its faded grandeur and character. The location is excellent , the staff were very helpful and it's very cheap. The breakfast was perfectly good if somewhat eccentric in its choice of food.
Review 30:There was a little bit too noizy as in the downstairs were some bars which closed their doors at 5 o'clock a.m.
Review 31:The location is very good, in the centre of Kaunas.
Review 32:Noise from the nightclubs will ruin your sleep. Grease smell from the restaurants flowing in the room in nighttime. You can hear normal conversation from neighbor room. Dated and disgusting carpeting, smelling of cigarette.
Review 33:Best location! Nice old building and high rooms. Parking (6€) in safe courtyard. Tasty goodies at check-in desk :D Free maps etc.
Review 34:We had one room to garden side and that room was smelly (cooking fat),because kitchen ventilation was right back to window.
Review 35:Location was great, stright in old town.Breakfast was good.
Review 36:We got 2 bedrooms with 4 single beds, in the back of the building. At the time that we arrived it was extremely hot and the building has no A/C or fans. So the staff gave us a fan from their office. Also, after being away for a whole day, once we returned the room had a really smell. We were told that is because of the plumbing so they switch us to a 2 bedrooms 2 baths suite and that we great.
Review 37:Beautiful old building. Great location in the center of the city, walking distance to shops, museums and restaurants. Good buffet breakfast a very good value. The staff is very accommodating and understanding.
Review 38:The hotel have not elevator, the place is very noisy. It was very complicated to find this hotel. Take in mind you have to pay for parking
Review 39:Perfect location,reasonable price,best value for money
Review 40:As the hotel faces two pedestrian promenades it was a bit tricky to find the motor vehicle entrance. But once that was done all was good.
Review 41:Apart from the central location, the old world charm & decor were a pleasant change from the usual modern decor. And was real value for money.
Review 42:Some dishes at the breakfast could have been hotter.
Review 43:The main sites and attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. Getting from and to the bus station is not a problem either. My single room was not large, but the bed was comfortable; there was hot water and the shower worked well; the room was not stuffy. Breakfasts were varied enough for a 3* hotel, there was a choice of hot dishes and some fruit. Wi-Fi worked well in the room.
Review 44:I arranged beforehand to keep my room on the last day as I had a late flight home. I was told I wouldn't be able to do that as the hotel was fully booked. To their credit reception sorted it out and I was able to keep my room.
Review 45:My daughter and I had a room each which was unexpected but very welcome. Great shower.
Review 46:Hard to find the hotel if you get to it by your own car. Just put a big board before turning to the parking lot.
Review 47:Location. Breakfast especially wafers.
Review 48:Breakfast was awful. Lack of dishes varieties and food. Very slow restaurant service. If the food is out, you will have to wait for very long time and if opening hours nearly to end, you won't even get it.
Review 49:THe Hotel is quite good. Staff was friendly and helpful (exc. Hotels restaurant). Very nice lobby and rooms are clean. Quite good Wifi and place.
Review 50:I have stayed here more than once a year for the last 4 years and now the service , breakfast and this time my room are just not up to the same standard as the other Kaunas hotels for the same price ...
Review 51:Location...
Review 52:It is for sure the best choice for the center of the city. Even though it is considered as a second-star hotel, everything it's offering is high quaility. Just to state I didn't have breakfast there.
Review 53:It does not have a lift which might discourage some people
Review 54:The hotel has great character, it is 100 years old with a beautiful cantilever staircase and stained glass windows on the landings. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent. The location could not be bettered being equidistant from the old town and Akropolis.
Review 55:I have stayed here once before and it is very well located for the Zalgiris Arena. The staff are very helpfull and friendly. No problems and it is good value for money.
Review 56:We have traveled to Kaunas and stayed in Metropolis hotel. Very satisfed with rooms, personnel, car parking place etc. As recomendation to the hotel: please add some baking to the breakfast.
Review 57:Sunday morning, there was no hot water. And the breakfast - at 9 o`clock, and there was no food any more. And the stuff was just looking her mobilephone. Very bad!
Review 58:Staff was friendly and the location is good. Everything is nearly.
Review 59:loud and empty mini bar, which I had to unplug, so that I could sleep. Also loud electricity fuse box.
Review 60:stilish design, good sanitary in bathroom good breakfast, but little fresh bread. Oldfashioned lobby is very nice!
Review 61:breakfest could be a bit more interesting, but it was enought for me :-)
Review 62:I liked the old type building, big room, hotel is in the center, clean and simple.
Review 63:I had no problems, but my colleague who stayed in a different room and ordered breakfast said it was really bad. So I suggest you to eat in one of the neighboring cafes or pizzerias.
Review 64:The hotel is situated in the very heart of the city, 20 meters away from the main alley. Everything is within walking distance: the old town, the river, the mall. The cafe's and bars are in a minute walk. The hotel has an interesting interior design: a mixture of soviet elements and contemporary facilities.
Review 65:It was no warm water in the morning and nobody has warned us about this. The breakfast was almost gone when we came half an hour before finishing time.
Review 66:Very nice location in the center.
Review 67:no lift I had to walk up to the third floor carrying my luggage
Review 68:friendliness of reception location in the heart of the city nice although decaying building
Review 69:The only problem is lack of elevator. With big suitcases it was very unconfertable to go up the stares
Review 70:The location is very good. The stuff are very welcoming
Review 71:not super near to the main square, but still quite central
Review 72:beautiful, not really a design hotel, but located in a liberty palace and with nice renovated rooms. Lady at reception super kind and helpful, she was really adorable. Located in a nice and eco-friendly quarter packed with bio shops :)
Review 73:This hotel might have been glorious in a past life, but it's certainly not now. It's undergoing heavy renovation, which unfortunately means you pull into a carpark which building materials being thrown out of windows and the whole place looks a mess. The entrance is nice but old fashioned and in need of some life. Then you venture up the stairs.... after turning out of the main hall we entered a part that wasn't renovated yet (which seems like the majority of it) and the place is awful. It look 50 years old and smells is. Our room was mouldy, wires exposed and the bed felt like it'd been used by enough people that someone would've already complained about it. The TV is a 14" CRT that shows about 10 channels of which five are duplicates of the other five. The bathroom (shudder) dare not be mentioned. We were booked in for two nights, we left after one. Horrible place. For £10 more we stayed in a four star luxury spa about 20 minutes away. If someone had offered me a tent instead of the Metropolis I'd have jumped at the chance.
Review 74:The location is right next to the main street. Apart from that, there's nothing else to like
Review 75:Some old feel in the building and rooms, but clean. Nice staff. If coming by car consider their private parking which costs about the same as a day in public parking.
Review 76:Extra fee for hotel parking. Rooms and hotel itself is crying for renovation - every single item is so much used.
Review 77:Location is really perfect, just exactly in the "Laisves aleja". Price is funny.
Review 78:Breakfast .. This has really declined . I have been staying at the Metroplois at least once a year for the past four years and noticed the standard of the breakfast slipping .. I think now it has come to the unacceptable stage
Review 79:Price, the hotel history and uniqueness.. Staff always helpful
Review 80:No air-conditions at all in the rooms and while we are in Lt was plus 34 degrees so was difficult to sleep in this heat in the room without aircon.
Review 81:Great location, Great & helpful reception staff, the most comfortable and large bed I ever slept in! Reasonably priced.
Review 82:The bathroom could be a bit bigger. When you take a shower all bathroom is completely wet.
Review 83:Very nice hotel, perfect location if you want to see Old town. There is no parking at the hotel but fortunately you can park your car at harbour parking for 2 euro per day.
Review 84:That I was only staying one night on this occasion
Review 85:Ambience, hospitality, location, history, the fact that they were able to step in and offer my fellow traveller a single room at 03.00 am when he had given up his room at another hotel to a couple who's room had been closed down due to an air conditioning fault.
Review 86:with a little more maintenance would be a top class hotel
Review 87:Clean hotel although not new, very kind staff available to solve some small problems or to give information on the city
Review 88:Rooms aren't all up to the standard of those in the pictures and some are in need of a refurb.
Review 89:Classic style building Great loaction Excellent Value Helpful staff
Review 90:Single room was not as pictured. Bathroom was ridiculous! Infant sized, two leveled bath tub with shower head positioned at circus midget height. Hot water pipes coming through bathroom to dry your towel on heated up the whole room. Not good for summer!
Review 91:WiFi and location
Review 92:old hotel - need reconstruction.
Review 93:Old hotel near of the city center. Our room was ok - with new shower and balcony, but our friend has another room at the same hotel with old bath and old interior.
Review 94:First room I was put in was unbearably hot ( pipes in bathroom were scalding hot ), so I was put in another room were I could hear every sound that was made outside my window so was woken by smokers chatting outside my window @ 4am.
Review 95:Stained glass windows and decor in reception area .
Review 96:Maybe the room was a little on the small side, but this didn't really bother us.
Review 97:The location was perfect for walking to tourist attractions. We made an enquiry about how to get to an out of town museum and staff were very friendly and helpful. The entrance hall is stunning! We were very happy with this hotel.
Review 98:First of all, it is very conveniently located, right next to Laisves Alley and within walking distance of the Old Town. There is also a big shopping mall nearby. The food was good. I liked the clean, comfortable room with a very warm bathroom. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They speak English well and some of them are fluent in Russian. But what really surprised me was the fact that they let me have the room 8 hours before the check- in time, as I arrived early, and they also let me leave my suitcase at the hotel after I checked out, saying I could pick it up at any time which was convenient for me. Thank you very much. Very often it is the hotel that makes you decide to come or not to come back. I do want to visit Kaunas again. Best regards, Liudmila, from Kaliningrad.
Review 99:Location is really good, also there is very cheap restaurant very close to it. Is the best hotel in value of money I have ever been. Rooms are big enought as well as bathroom
Review 100:Old times charm at ridiculously low price! Nice staff, renovated with style, beautiful room with a balcony, excellent location, is there anything more to wish for? Even musicians at the breakfast. Awesome atmosphere, great place.
Review 101:Very rude personal in hotel bar
Review 102:I liked the atmosphere - as in the novels of Agatha Christie. Very friendly staff. Large, clean room.
Review 103:You can hear music from the street.
Review 104:Nice, clean hotel in the city centre. Big room. Fridge in room.
Review 105:Asked for non smoking room. The room was smelling like ashtray. You do not change smoking to non-smoking by putting restriction sign on the table.
Review 106:Rooms are old, smells little bit also. And quite small.
Review 107:Location was really good, located at Laisves aleja.
Review 108:No free parking.

Review 115:Some rooms are refurbished while others are a bit tired...
Review 116:Staff were very helpful and accommodating
Review 117:the furniture needs repair or replacement.
Review 118:the location is excellent in the very city center. they serve nice dinners for 4 eur daily.
Review 119:Bedroom was over nightclub area resulting in disturbance from music on Friday night
