Reviews for Monica Isabel Beach Club
Review 1:I stayed for weekend and was happy enough, maybe like every business should be updated time by time but it's clean. got apartment in the main building and really was a big with sea view and i love it. Beach just a min from reception, city 10-15 min walk or you can walk along the beach and will reach city in 5-10 min. Staff was friendly and helpful. I got breakfast and launch ,it wasn't including my apartment so I paid myself and was left happy with price and choices of food...planning to bring kids soon as I think it's really great place, swimming pool inside and outside with lot of space, big game room and beach..
Review 2:Great location next to the beach, Apartment across the road from the main Hotel was very quiet (although it was December) with private balcony facing the sea.
Review 3:Easiest way to sum our visit is: would I recommend this to my friends - answer a definite NO!!! It is 3*** star hotel with quality even lower than some 1* hotels offers. We booked 3 person room but gotten 2 person room with additional touristic bed. When we went to reception we heard "sorry but we have only touristic beds, we don't really have triple rooms" Room had very dim lights and wasn't cleared properly. There was no "welcome pack" and no shower gel or shampoo. Water pressure (especially hot) in tap was very low, we could barely take showers. There is no Wi-Fi in rooms or in common areas, only one place that you can get it is reception. Indoor pool is very small (3x7m Max) and water looks as if it is never changed. Jacuzzi has the same quality of water and same temperature. Gym is only one equipment! (press down) For every day there should be some events for guest but except open bar there was none. The bar area reminded us of a working mans club in the 70's. Hotel staff is very unhelpful and hard to catch. To be fair hotel is very outdated and the guests there that we saw were not people that I would choose to spend time with and no I'm definitely not a snob. Stayed December 2015, travelled as a 3 people.
Review 4:All facilities needs urgent renovations!!! Air condition full of mould and didn't work, Horrible smell of mould in every room, kitchen, toilet. All our family came back with very bad cold!!!
Review 5:Food fabulous!!!!! Staff wonderful, kind, friendly and very helpful. Great location!
Review 6:Even for 3 star this was a joke. We took standard studio but didn't even have frying pan for morning eggs, lamp had an open wire that caused me electric shock, 1 spoon to eat and generaly the room looked like slums
Review 7:Location was great but that's about it.
Review 8:plastic beer cups ,and a little dis organised with venues .
Review 9:great location ,right on the beach ,short walk to old town ,short walk to the strip and centre of town
Review 10:Reception area, bit dated, in need of a lick of paint and freshened up. reception staff useless right hand not knowing what the left hand doing. If it was my Hotel think i would be having a major staff clearout in reception and dining areas.
Review 11:loved the room spacious, clean, the assistant who carried my bags an asset to this hotel; (anna) the room cleaning lady very proud of her work ethic overall an asset to this hotels cleanliness. .
Review 12:Filthy apartments, pee stained mattresses, the apartments are spacious but very old fashioned reminds me of Portugal 20 years ago ( probably never been updated since) lots of ants had to buy any traps, air con worked leaks on to balcony, kitchen facility's are again very poor however due to the state of the place I wouldn't recommend using it!
Review 13:Location 100% and there's a bar called Panacee at the hill top which is lovely, George is funny
Review 14:The supermarket was not stocked very well and woman who worked there was grumpy at times, she was shouting at me one morning when I purchased a bottle of water costing 1 Eu and handed over 10 Eu not she went mental demanding how was she supposed to give change at this time 10.14am.
Review 15:The whole place was great, bars, food, rooms everything only point I would make was that we were in Block A where there was some space we could have parked our car but were told we could not park there.Which left us with a few minute walk to our room, but over all superb value.
Review 16:The apartments need more than just a clean. Pool area is all concrete. Old town, scousers for restaurants are too pushy.not enough variety of entertainment on the strip, mostly football.
Review 17:Close to beach and friendly staff 13 euro's for a 3 course buffet with beer/wine.
Review 18:Entertainment loud, unnecessary and terrible. Breakfast crowded and average Help at the reception sometimes difficult. Location: a little too far from old town
Review 19:Tours well organized
Review 20:left without towels and toilet paper one evening which took housekeeping a long time to rectify but front desk staff were super lovely. self catering would have been hard with the very limited kitchen
Review 21:location on the beach, local facilities and location between old and new town
Review 22:limited menu in the restaurant (breakfast/dinner) small and overcrowded pool indoor heated pool closed (july and august)
Review 23:the location near the beach - 20 meters away! (but other apartments can be farther 200m or more)
Review 24:Nothing, really
Review 25:Old and decrepit instalations, I never saw nothing like this, with bad staff, tv from the 70's, bathroom poor and old, everything in bad shape.
Review 26:Very hilly from rooms to reception/restaurant and from beach, no good for anyone with walking problems./ Restaurant very hectic had to share table with other families, food okay.
Review 27:Very clean, air con good, sky news on tv, free wifi in main building, lovely beach. Mini supermarket well stocked.
Review 28:Wi-fi not working in room. No shampoo, 2nd towel missing. Small pool with no shower. A lot of garbage laying around near our terrasse. Run down.
Review 29:Near beach. Spacious room and nice terrasse. Free parking close to the room.
Review 30:The curtian on the bedroom window didn't blackout the room, we all wake up at sunrise. The cleaning lady found some socks that weren't ours. We are Portuguese and most of the staff didn't spoke Portuguese
Review 31:very close to the beach and only a 2 minutes drive to Oura. Big apartments
Review 32:The walk to the room was ridiculous, up and down stairs and hills. The WIFI was only available in the restraunt and it took me 10 mins to get there up the hills andsd stairs. Also when I was checking out I was asked to pay anothre 87 euros towards my room and luckily I had my booking confirmation on my phone or I dont know what would of happend.
Review 33:The weather was lovely.
Review 34:staff at reception could be a little nicer and more friendly.
Review 35:the beach the pool able to walk everywhere very quiet at night for sleeping just the sound of the waves.
Review 36:Beds were awful, not comfy at all. Balcony door did not lock, balcony had seagull / bird faeces all over and when you walked out onto balcony there was an high risk you would get it landing on you as there were a lot of birds sat on roof ledge all day long. Reception toilets were blocked and over spilling, the were ignorant and unhelpful. The food was absolutely awful so we dined out instead. Toilet seat in room was broken. Not enough towels and the towels that was there were too small. The hotel just seemed like it was run down over used and urgent need of a total overall and new management and procedures. Really bad experience.
Review 37:Nothing really probably view from our room was the best thing
Review 38:Appalling lack of facilities for self catering. No cooker (only one portable ring), microwave, toaster, kettle (availabe from reception with refundable 20 euro deposit), poor selection of cutlery etc, no draining board for dishes, no tea towels, no worktop space ... need I go on. Site in general in need of refurbishment, and no information in room about accommodation or resort
Review 39:Location on beach, and within 10 minutes walk of both old town and bottom of The Strip.
Review 40:Wi fi only free in reception , tho was quite cheap to rent a portable modem . Was quite far from the strip where all bars and clubs are , but if you don't like noise that's good
Review 41:I loved the view with a sea view, staff very friendly and helpful , was very close to beach, was very quiet no noise .
Review 42:I did not like the bar or reception area. The entertainment for adults was no good at all..
Review 43:cheap weekend away on the beach. Room had a real good powerful shower and I got a good quiet nights sleep ,Room had great views of the sea and woodland. Was clean but shabby. I ate elsewhere .
Review 44:The room I was allocated was damp and musty, when I complained, all I got was an apology and was informed that housekeeping would spray the room to freshen the room up. The breakfast buffet was adequate, though the plate warmer was obviously not working,so warm food soon cooled down.I was there for 13 nights, very poor variety on the buffet, I'm thankful I was only booked in as B&B, I could not have endured buffet Lunch and Dinner.
Review 45:The only redeeming thing about the Hotel is it's proximity to the beach.
Review 46:Balcony in our apartment so small we couldn't use it but room good size. Hot plate only with two rings, no microwave, toaster, kettle or oven so not sure how anyone could cook a meal. We ate out in town so can't comment on food on site
Review 47:Really close to beach and lovely 15 minute walk to old town along the beach. Cleaners came in every day and clean towels every day. Staff on reception very pleasant.
Review 48:Balcony was deteriorating, literally crumbling.... staff on arrival were fine, but rude on departure.... Most visitors were drinking and smoking constantly, although not badly behaved, so if you like that then that's fine...pool area claustrophobic
Review 49:Spacious rooms, very good value for money, beach location, parking easy ( wouldn't be in summer )
Review 50:Staff not very friendly Restaurant was more like a soup kitchen If you arnt all inclusive your treated badly
Review 51:Location to old town Location to beach Nice pool Apartment was good Fantastic views Great restaurant called Panacee across the road
Review 52:Breakfast was awful ( not enough food, cutlery, crockery and seating for the amount of people staying ). The staff didn't care either... No wifi. Inadequate bed linen, pillows, towels and toilet rolls. We asked for more but never recieced them. There were three off us and only enough for two!! The pool shuting early and miserable man telling us off. Location was inbetween both old town and the strip but it's a good 10/15 minute walk to either..to far and up hill walking back from old town.
Review 53:Nice size room, good sea view. Free parking. Close to the beach but down steps to get to it. Good to have a fridge but the other facilies in the kitchen very poor.
Review 54:All facilities not available ie Mini market had to walk 15-20 mins for supermarket. Apartment wasn't 3 star quality and hotel wanted us to pay extra to move into main hotel!
Review 55:People we met made holiday. Location on beach excellant
Review 56:The room was in a corner facing the street and there was a street lamp right in line with our window. Of course, the light was on all night as it should, but there was no blind in our room to darken it. The buildings were kind of old and not well maintained. The paint was falling off and there were humidy stains in some walls. The meals were cheap, but the options were limited. Ran our of beer very fast.
Review 57:It was close to the sea Good value for money Cheap dining
Review 58:I wasn't looking or much to begin with a cheap place to stay while I golfed near by. Just a place to throw my head down at night and have a bit of breakfast in the morning. I got a mouldy bed and bedroom, terrible staff and run down 1970's style kip. I don't to want to go into too much detail but honestly just don't bother staying here no matter what you are looking for in a stay.
Review 59:Getting out of there!!!
Review 60:The food, the rude staff, wifi only in reception which was the main source of the all inclusive bar and was like bedlam, restaurant staff were rude and very slow to clear tables, public areas were not kept tidy, big hotel but old and in desperate need of refurb.
Review 61:Location Room was large
Review 62:I once again mention the lack of more English speaking TV channels with movies. They are available in Albufeira, I know that be course I stayed in hotel in Albufeira last summer and it had two movie channels.
Review 63:There was nothing special. In all I had a very relaxed and good stay.
Review 64:For the rest of the hotel staff, service staff we can not say same. One aggressive Furia tried to break into the room to us when we slept in bed. When it was refused, she not give us the missing water boiling pot and angrily declared that we can ask for it tomorrow. When I went Complain about this lady, her colleagues came to us and announced even better news- that we can get it, if pay the deposit to the hotel reception. That's how we lived without water boiling pot all 3 days, there was not a microwave too. .... More ... When booking an apartment in this hotel can never know what in apartment they provide. pictures of their apartments is the same. We asked apartment on the top floors with balcony to the sea, but when we arrived, we found out that we have apartment down 1th floor near from an internal pool. There had stinks of chlorine and feelings we are in a basement. Before arive to the hotel we wrote an email to Hotel Administration about what we wish to have... can we will have a balcony on the top floor to the sea, bathtub conditioner If this is not reserved to offer in our apartment, we wanted to pay extra and to have a better apartment. Replies Messages from Hotel did not come even definitive in the 48-hours period. Instead booking.com worker immediately phoned us and promised to do everything possible so that we get our service. Can think that hotel managers are responsible for giving good services,so they need to be made redundant. Because even after bookin.com workers 2 phone calls to the hotel and my letter with a list of needs, we got the apartment on the 1st floor, which was dark and smelly that basement. Admission girl offered us other apartments, but the lowest category. The girl was exceptionally polite and well understood in English.
Review 65:Girl in hotel reception worked perfectly. To each our request she responded quickly and professionally. Room cleaners were friendly and nice.
Review 66:The steep walks and the steps to move around the site. I don't see how they can change that as it is built on the side of a cliff. Drinks were expensive if you are only half board this would not apply to those who went all exclusive.
Review 67:Excellent value for the half board price we paid. It is large enough to be able to have accommodation away from the crowd. We went for a rest and that is exactly what happened however being over the Christmas period it was not very busy the summer months may be very different. The beach is perfect and the views wonderful.
Review 68:Everything. Looks good on website! Advertises a kitchenette. Only a sinkin my room. Had to leave a deposit to just get a kettle. Asked for amicrowave - Told I had to upgrade I.E. pay more.I Asked for a seaview, asked for a high up room as I am 67 and need a lift!! True I was notpromised 1. the room I got was down 2 flights of stairs to what I canonly describe as a dungeon ! with a rock face 20 yds away. The hotel itsself is on an incline to make a mountaineer cringe both to the beach andup to the main road. Unless you are fit as a donkey ! do not go there. There could be more!! Well you asked?? Please can I claim compensationfor mis- selling etc. I think I will make this a formal complaint.Compensation please??
Review 69:Nothing
Review 70:The food.
Review 71:This hotel has had many not very good reviews…however for the location and value it is great. I would recommend this to anyone who is on a budget. The staff is great, its right on the beach and they have evening entertainment that engages interaction between the guests which makes for fun time.
Review 72:This is not the fault of the hotel but, inconsiderent people staying in the room above mine were sliding, and moving furniture, at 04.00 and 05.30 hours, depriving me of a good nights sleep. This could be improved if the hotel were to fit self-adhesive felt pads (which are easily available in packs) to the feet of beds, chairs, etc, thus enabling the items in question to glide easily. and quietly.
Review 73:Accomodation and location
Review 74:There were no instructions or info left in apartment, and couldnt operate cooker. electronic push botton so not straight forward. complained and no-one came to assist as promised. Only one pillow which i mention and no added provided. minor things though
Review 75:I thought the apartment was fine, with a great view. I was only half board, but the breakfast was great value for money at 5euros and great selection. The locatiopn was perfect as between old town and strip and only 10 minutes walk to either.
Review 76:The breakfast was very crouded, hard to find a place to sit and sometimed things were missing. but a good breakfast. At night was noisy (caraoke and stuff....) but from our room it was quite quiet.
Review 77:the room was huge, with an equiped kitchen and a balcony. The bathroom was also big.
Review 78:The facilities need renovation. We were stuck in the elevator and had to be opened by our own hands. Near the door of the hotel are always strange people.
Review 79:Excellent quality / price. Very friendly and profissional girl at reception.
Review 80:a bit dated and self catering cooking area was very very basic hot water boiler stopped work but they did change us into a different room
Review 81:location great
Review 82:Hotel staff unfriendly, not carrying about hotel guests, everything (hair dryer, keatle, safe...) must to be asked and get for deposit - imagine coming late at night, tired and discovering that in room there is no hairdryer and to go back to the reception you must climbe up to the hill, because staff wasn't so kind to tell shortest way through the hotel facilities. Oh no, that would't work, because enter facilities you can only with room key (which is also electricity swither), which is given only one! For two adults! If you are a couple it will either strenghten your relationship, or since you would be forced to go everywhere toggether - will ruin it. Breakfasts are the same every morning... Room furniture from 19th century...
Review 83:Place is excellent - beach is right at the hotel.
Review 84:The roosters on location/next to it, at 4/5am start crowing until about 10am and it´s impossible to sleep. I'm very sorry but Monica Isabel won´t be an option for me in the future.
Review 85:Location is spot-on for beach, old town, restaurants and shopping.
Review 86:Apartment very dated, furniture in poor state, not as advertised on web site paid for Premium not what we received. Hotel needs modernising and a total re-vamp. Expensive mistake beware when booking you don't get what you pay for.
Review 87:Location to beach and close to The Strip and Old Town
Review 88:Kitchen equipment was poor for self catering. ie. no kettle no toaster. Could have had a microwave that was in the brochure.
Review 89:Great location. On the beach. Walking distance to all amenities, good housekeeping.
Review 90:dreadful original apartment (block B) - later transferred to Block C - staff need better attitude bar closed before 12pm
Review 91:Location - pool area - proximity to beach - shuttle service
Review 92:The lady in reception.
Review 93:Staff not very helpful. Not value for money. No WiFi in room and poor in public areas. Rooms in need of renovation. Website offers beach views, we had none!
Review 94:Location was great! Easy access via beach walk to centre of Albufeira within minutes.
Review 95:Be aware site is on a very steep hill & access to our studio meant negotiating many steps.
Review 96:We had studio apartment A124. Location looking out to sea excellent, very large patio & very quiet. Porter assists taking you to your accomodation with cases as a matter of course. Due to the large complex could be difficult finding your room without this facility.
Review 97:If you get booked in separate buildings it really is a 5-10 min. walk apart. The air conditioner did not work in one our rooms and it did not work the whole time in our friends rooms. Hopefully they have had a chance to fix this for their next guests.
Review 98:I thought that the staff were very professional and friendly. The location was great for the beach and a few restaurants.
Review 99:The room I stayed in was directly under the restaurant, so this made it very noisey at early hours of the morning. From 6.30 to 7.30 was when they where preparing breakfast so i was awoken every morning with the noise. The bar service wasn't great, there was two bar staff on at night and on one occasion just one, waiting at least 10 to 15 mins for a drink. If they employ more bar staff this will resolve the issue. Plus the bar closes at 11pm which was disappointing.
Review 100:Rooms where clean and hotel was clean. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Review 101:Every time we came back to our room there was at least 2 new cockroaches, sometimes dead sometimes alive. Staff didn't seem to care. Also the air conditioning was dripping water the entire time it was turned on
Review 102:Location to the beach
Review 103:We advised would arrive between 12 and 1pm & we did, but only got the room until after 3pm and it wasn't in the hotel complex as expected but an apartment separate to the hotel. On 2 occasions maid removed used towels & didn't replace them so we had to call reception for replacements. Tiny old TV fixed high near the ceiling. Room and fittings dated
Review 104:The location is the best thing this aparthotel has going for it.
Review 105:The pool area. Loud music, loads of teenagers, dangerous & slippery ground surface surrounding the poll plus lots of dodgey steps. Horrible hens/chickens freely roaming near pool entrance. We only went once.
Review 106:Location. The shuttle bus service to the town.
Review 107:Room wasn't ready at arrival ! Hotel was very poorly maintained , air conditioning wasn't working , most deffo 1 of the worst places we have stayed , Dnt go it would wreck your holiday , lucky for us we stayed 1 day of hell , I've stayed in some dumps this is 1 of the worst !
Review 108:Location
Review 109:staff was mostly rude, even the cleaning ladies argued amongst themselves, uncooperative staff not willing to do even the basic requests, too long of a wait to check in and out, awful food, especially the buffet, and the service was the worst I've ever experienced, unhappy staff, difficulty getting towels, distance from main area was too long, only one key per family was given so we all had to coordinate where we were going and when, didn't deal with loud and obnoxious neighbors making noise after midnight. Awful place.
Review 110:location, shuttle into town, great restaurant within walking distance
Review 111:prety basic breakfast , lake of vegetables in breakfest ,
Review 112:we staid at block C i think it was renovated recently , the hotel is like a resort , 12 min walk to the center
Review 113:1) Although the beach looks nice and sandy, it was really shelly and even with flip flops it hurt your feet. 2) The bathroom had a stale smell. 3) The hotel is about 10-15 mins walk to the Main Strip. 4) Dinner at the hotel was a bit hit or miss. Breakfast was always good. 5) A lot of the kids' entertainment isn't in English.
Review 114:1) The hotel is right on the beach. 2) The room was nice enough although a bit dated. 3) The staff was nice. 4) The hotel is slap bang between the Main Strip and Albufeira Old Town
Review 115:The service in the reception seemed to be busy all the time (talking by phone all the time). Our air conditioner sometimes was breaking down and we had to call for someone to fix it. City center took 30 minutes by walk.
Review 116:The beach was beautiful and close to the hotel. Apartment was spacious, clean with a big terrace and wonderful sea view. The evenings in the hotel were varied, there were different kinds of performances.
Review 117:1) Very old furniture in the room. 2) No kettle in the kitchen. 3) Breakfast is the same every day and it's awful: artificial juice from plastic cups, small choice of dishes. It's enough to have such a breakfast for one-two day and on the 3rd day I've decided to skip it.
Review 118:1) The location is near to the beach. 2) Free of charge mini-van from hotel to Albufira center and back. 3) Spacious room with the kittchen and the balcony with sea view. 4) Helpful staff.
Review 119:Apartments/hotel are very old fashioned and are in need of an update. Our apartment was on the first floor and balcony door did not look very secure. Looked like apatment door had been broken into in the past? Cheap price really reflects what to expect.
Review 120:Close to beach
Review 121:could do with a coat of paint apartments very basic lacking in equipment in kitchen. no brush or anything to clean pots. I spilt some coffee on floor on first day it was still there on last day even though staff came in every day to "clean"
Review 122:very good location on a very nice beech but not suitable for smaller children as sea rough and steep incline into water.
Review 123:Very good staff, good food and place.
Review 124:chef burn't the pumpkin soup and still served it
Review 125:chicken's outside our bedroom
Review 126:Food
Review 127:lack of basic equipment for self catering
Review 128:proximity to beach
Review 129:Lady at the reception was not very pleasant and helpful
Review 130:food poor, Dodgy lifts Quiet area
Review 131:Close to the beach
Review 132:The hotel needs some refurbishment.
Review 133:Closeness to the sea was the best thing about this hotel.
Review 134:everything
Review 135:nothing
Review 136:Beds
Review 137:Location. And all the food on offer view from apartment
Review 138:Each member of staff were excellent great location beach was a bit rough.
Review 139:Location was good, although you have to go down a very steep hill to get access to the pool & beach. Not so easy returning to the hotel.
Review 140:Don't be fooled by the private beach. There are no private beaches in Portugal. Everything was run down.
Review 141:It was close to the beach
The Fine Print
Please note that these apartments have different locations throughout the complex.
