Reviews for Dom Pedro Baia Club
Review 1:Our stay at this resort was absolutely amazing from the time we arrived and been greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very clean and it was the most comfortable bed. Great breakfast in the morning which was included in the room rate which was very affordable. Amazing view and very convenient location 5-10 mins drive from the airport. Highly recommend.
Review 2:My 2 nights trip - all included in club room on 3 floor - liked everything. Arrival - on the table a bottle of sweet Madeira wine, fruits...Great sea view from a window, balcony, perfect cleanliness. Amazingly clean sand beach, not deep entrance into the sea, suitable for small children. Food - there is a choice, but only 2-days experience. Wine, beer during lunch and dinner free of charge. Close to the bus stop - to the Airport (10 min) 1.30 Eur, to Funchal (50 min) 3.50 Eur trip...I would like to go back for a longer period of time with my family...
Review 3:We were told ac system was new and that system would take a day or to be full throttle we were there for 9 days no ac it was awful very disappointed I have another trip coming with a bigger group they have lost my Business!
Review 4:Staff was very helpful...
Review 5:The pool was gorgeous, but it's really close to the road and can be quite exposing.
Review 6:I liked the location - it was very quiet, but we had the serenity of the sea and a pristine beach. The hotel is in Machico which has its own rich history. My room on the 10th floor had a superb view of the beach, the pool and the sea. Loved it.the staff were really friendly and accommodating, which helps when you are travelling alone.
Review 7:I found the hotel staff to be abrupt and unfriendly. There was no wifi. The towels supplied have a very soapy feel - as if they were not rinsed properly when washed. The breakfast was terrible. (The apple juice machine produces a disgusting sludge). The decor iis very old and could be updated.
Review 8:Food, breakfast only. Was not to our taste.
Review 9:Location,peaceful and good views. Good frequent local bus service to Funchal. Staff friendly especially bar staff.
Review 10:The building was a bit large for such a pretty place. Would have preferred Wi Fi in the rooms.
Review 11:Most everything, although didn't have an evening meal so can't comment. Breakfast was good.
Review 12:Reception staff (including the manager) were rather icy. The whole hotel seemed to be set up for receiving organised tour groups and not individual travellers.
Review 13:Hotel was in a good location. The outdoor pool looked nice but the weather was a bit too chilly to make use of it, sadly. Staff in the breakfast room were lovely and really helpful.
Review 14:Threadbare bath towel. Dated dark wood-effect decor (beloved by the Portuguese!). Looking tired and hard worn in places - exterior 'stonework' requires attention to correct deterioration..
Review 15:Position. Proximity to the airport.
Review 16:Could do with more parking places for the size of the hotel, but it was possible to find road parking.
Review 17:Position of hotel is very good, my room had an excellent view from the sixth floor across to Zarco's chapel and beyond to the sea. Hotel room was a nice size, and very clean. Breakfast selection was good and adequate.
Review 18:I was surprised to hear loud music from a bar across the bay but (if you can't beat them join them) I went and it was a great local event and finished at 9pm.
Review 19:Lovely hotel, great location, big pool, good breakfast. Wonderful view from 6th floor of the town, the bay, the hills and the peninsula. I came for 3 days and stayed for 8 and went straight to the airport which is only 5 minutes round the corner. Machico is very convenient, lots of buses to Funchal, but quieter. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 20:some people from the reception staff. Internet is only in the public areas/spaces -and at rooms doesn`t (of course they inform about it in their offer - but personally I don`t like it is so: P) - it is only a teeny minus because I`ve been catching other wifi network :))) ..and the clouds over the bay almost every day (and drizzle / rain sometimes) about 11-12:00 to about 16-17:00 :/ ;) but as the hotel - I liked it very much :)
Review 21:first of all location; and lovable, nice, bright! with a nice/beautiful view! room (it depends as I know -what room/on which side of building is to get a room;) - I had a room on the fifth floor with a view partly on the bay and partly on the resort); and the amazing sound of the waves at night .. (!); bus stops "under the nose"; car rental cooperating with the hotel; good breakfast-though without any diversions-but for everyone it was something good;) ; polite staff-but not all of them aroused my sympathy; very pleasant public areas/spaces with nice views; close to the airport-a revelation when a man is to be transported by bus with a heavy suitcase ;) ; hotel generally great for me :))
Review 22:No minibar or air conditioning in the room, very poor breakfast, most of the staff were very nice but there were a couple unfriendly (at the pool).
Review 23:Size of the room, piano bar, location near the beach and Machico is a very nice town
Review 24:Room more 3star than 4star; Wifi only in lobby and poor connection at times; rowdy behaviour from teens at pool
Review 25:Location; views
Review 26:Wonderful view from 6th floor of the town, the bay, the hills and the peninsula.
Review 27:Good cheap bar, close to the airport & the sea, excellent value for money.
Review 28:It's a big impersonal hotel
Review 29:Good location and great value for money
Review 30:Good breakfast
Review 31:This hotel needs renovation. Wi-Fi only in the reception area.
Review 32:Very good dinner and breakfast (except wine and coffe).
Review 33:great view from the window on the bay, clean room and bathroom
Review 34:The hotel decor is really dated
Review 35:The pool area was amazing
Review 36:Far too expensive and the worst quality breakfast I have ever experienced in 30 years of travelling
Review 37:They have got new, younger more pleasant restaurant staff in since last year
Review 38:The second day we had very noisy neighbours - moving chairs at night, loud TV etc. We had to ask the hotel staff to change the room, after changing the room everything was great again. шумные соседи - пришлось поменять комнату
Review 39:Staff was very frendly - helped a lot. Brekfasts were good also. Nice view through the window - the ocean)) I think it's the best choise for the first days in Madeira - only 5 km from the airport, but planes don't disturb.
Review 40:Staff was impolite and bored sitting at the receptions desk, no interest to help or even say hello. Hotel is stuck in the 70s and doesn't deserve 4 stars at all. Breakfast is poor and not hot meals have been served. My room was small and tired > old furniture, lousy electrical's with no plugs for my I-phone or computer, .lousy TV, no carpets only old tiles etc.I stayed there only for one night because I had my flight in the morning but I wouldn't go back. For the price I was charged I expected 4stars hotel not old, outdated concrete shed. It has to be refurbished or better demolished.
Review 41:Only location was good > 5min from the airport.
Review 42:Evening shows - it's just not our taste - but they can be ignored.
Review 43:Good but maybe too big impersonal hotel. Parking nearby. Half of the hotel has a great sea-view, we had the other average half. Amazing hotel breakfast and all-you-can-eat dinners just for EUR 16. Clean pool but closes to early. Authentic marina across the bay. Very near to the airport but surprisingly we were not disturbed by airplanes.
Review 44:no airco in the rooms, no balcony, the hotel must be really old and would need a renovation, i would not really recommend the hotel, no hairdryer, bed was terrible
Review 45:Great location and town/seaside view, The close proximity to the airport.
Review 46:- Facilities and furnishing tired - F&B department seriously understaffed causing delayed services - Cleanliness of the tableware in the restaurant and housekeeping - Poor food variety - Restaurant and bar staff attentiveness - No beach towels provided
Review 47:Location
Review 48:We were totally disappointed from our stay at Dom Pedro. The room we got was supposed to have sea view but from the balcony, you barely could see the sea but rather trees in the garden. But what bothered us more was the fact that the hallway and room were extremely smelly. Moreover, there were several spiders, millepedes and fruit flies in the room. The fruit salad at breakfast did not taste so fresh anymore but rather like from the day before.
Review 49:From the hotel, it is just a five minutes drive to the airport. So it was convenient to catch early flights in the morning.
Review 50:There was no reliable Wi-Fi, virtually none in the room.
Review 51:Great location and town/seaside view. The breakfast was very good. The dining room, lounge, entertainment was first class.
Review 52:One suggestion only:It will be nice some fresh tropical fruitsfrom Madeira for breakfast .
Review 53:I had a great time at Dom Pedro Baia, very pleasant Hotel, all the staff is excellent and kind. I really enjoy my stay and I hope to go back soon. My special thanks to the housekeeper Conceicao, and the receptionist Lucia for being so kind to me. See you soon.
Review 54:Wine in the bar was very poor.
Review 55:Very good location for touring Madeira as access to the motorway is very good. view from room was very good. Near a good chioce of restaurants. Evening entertainment/music but quality of wine drove us out.
Review 56:Lack of a gym and an indoor swimming pool.
Review 57:Dom Pedro is in a wonderful location with great views across the bay of Machico. We had an all inclusive deal, which worked really well, with all food and drinks included. The town of Machico is relatively small and full of historical interest, as well as having a great harbour and being surrounded by hills.
Review 58:Parking seems to be almost non-existent. We were lucky to be thereduring the offseason, so were able to park close to the hotel however. The windows of the high rise portion of the hotel face onto the hills and part of the promenade. One has to squeeze to the edge of the window to catch a glimpse of the ocean.
Review 59:The close proximity to the airport. We rented a car, and didn't wantto spend a lot of time on winding roads to find our hotel. This hotel inMachico was only about 6 km from the airport, and fairly easy to find.Beautiful views in the Machico area.
Review 60:the hotel must be really old and would need a renovation, i would not really recommend the hotel. but for two nights we spent 84 euros, so it was quite cheap. but don't expect to much here
Review 61:this was our last hotel on the island of madeira, only a few minutes away from the airport. good location with sea view and close to several bars, restaurants etc
Review 62:Piano Bar was closed for refurb - shame we haven't been informed atthe booking time. Small bar/canteen open instead. Not to nice.
Review 63:We love Machico, it's our second time there. We stayed 3 days inFuchal first to end up our relaxing trip in Don Pedro. Good food, friendly staff and an amazing view!
Review 64:It was excellently situated in respect of our ongoing flight to Porto Santo. Although we only stayed one night we were able to appreciate the beautiful sea views and we had a quick foray down to the dining room to partake of the super breakfast.
Review 65:We did not dislike anything.
Review 66:We liked everything about this Hotel. It is in an excellent position. The service is outstanding. We were given a full breakfast at 5 am without our requesting this service. Our taxis were ordered and out wake upcall was on time. We can thoroughly recommend this Hotel in every respect.
Review 67:We stayed here for 4 nights on a tour of the island. Pool good although not enough seating for the amount of guests. We stayed on BB basis which was fine as there are some nice restaurants in town. Breakfast more than adequate. A lot of people on all inclusive basis stay here can't comment on food. Good base for seeing east side of island. Big hotel which dominates skyline. Fine for short stay. Wouldn't want to stay for two weeks.
Review 68:Convenient for airport, mountain and lavada walking and overlooking the beach. The breakfast was an excellent buffet and we really needed no more than an evening meal each night. There was plenty of choice of restaurants nearby and, unlike Funchal, no hassle from restaurant owners trying to drag you into their places every time you stopped to read a menu.
Review 69:Breakfast could be better, especially coffee
Review 70:Great location and views from the windows
Review 71:tired furniture cold room
Review 72:location views
Review 73:We didn't like the drinks in the hotel bar.
Review 74:no airco in the rooms, no balcony, only a little room
Review 75:early breakfast, nice swimming-pool
Review 76:no hairdryer
Review 77:good breakfasts. beds comfy great sheets
Review 78:Closeness to the airport I have recommend the hotel to friends.
Review 79:Wonderfully relaxing
Review 80:We didnt like the breakfasts, though the dinners were great.
Review 81:We really enjoyed staying there. Nice live music in the evenings
Review 82:Excellent location, very good value, good food.
