Reviews for Alfagar I Village
Review 1:There is no wifi in rooms.
Review 2:We liked everything: 1) nice location with beach directly accessible 2) good infra-structure: swimming pools, tennis courts, parkling, etc. 3) great value for money in winter.
Review 3:As it's January and the evenings are cold could have done with a bit more heating in apartment. Only 1 plug in heater which we had to move from room to room.
Review 4:Fantastic setting, easy access to beach, good little supermarket and great bar/restaurant
Review 5:If you stay in the apartments near the sea (ie. the older buildings) know that there is NO wifi.
Review 6:The new building was great! Our room was wonderful and staff, especially the manager and Deborah at the front desk, were very helpful.
Review 7:The apartments weren't sound proofed at all and could get very noisy at times.
Review 8:Great location, fabulous place to visit in the off season as it was fairly quiet. The beach was spectacular! Lots of stuff for kids to do!
Review 9:nothing really. whats not to like
Review 10:staff very friendly and helpful.indoor heated pool and good gym plenty of excursions and very good shuttle bus service.
Review 11:No WiFi conection in the apartments. No shampoo, just soap in the bathroom.
Review 12:Great staff. My congratulations, just a staff like that make all the difference.
Review 13:- We stayed in the Villas, that are a older construction that the apartments of Algfagar II. The confort it's not so nice specially in the winter due to the lack of AC. Also furniture is older as well as the kitchen applicances.
Review 14:- Excellent location in a cliff over the beach. - Nice interior pool and exterior gardens. - Great value for the money.
Review 15:Great location, we went in November and found the place peaceful with helpful staff, good family environment. We were lucky with the weather and would recommend alfagar and would love to go back with our family again.
Review 16:Because of the rain, our ceiling started leaking and although we complained to the management, despite the promises, nothing was done! In addition, water came into our apartment via the balcony door when it rained.
Review 17:The facilities including the tennis courts, football field, and swimming pools were excellent.
Review 18:I book a room with view on the beach and on the pool but did t have it . Was on the floor and not 1 floor as per booking . The breakfast was ok not he best not enough sweet .
Review 19:Just the price ! Won't go back
Review 20:Not a bad experience as such but the accommodation was so basic with very few amenities, what I call cheap & cheerful
Review 21:I liked the fact that my son really enjoyed the complex & facilities, kids club etc. there were lots of other children for him to play & socialise with. The food was also of a good standard.
Review 22:The alfagar village was very poor very dated and smelled bad and had no air conditioning no wifi old tv even though it showed newer version on website beds very old and had dips in mattresses very easy access from neighbours balcony and security was very poor
Review 23:I liked the location
Review 24:Nothing apart from a few days of rain!
Review 25:Been here many times and will always be back! Beautiful apartments on the beach front easy access to the beach and the food in the bar was amazing especially the Piri Piri chicken! Staff are lovely too!
Review 26:No ventilation or heating in the apartment so there was a damp feel to the rooms and to clothes hanging in the wardrobes.
Review 27:Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem to them.
Review 28:I had booked the Alfagar because it looked like a nice hotel last year. But when i arrived i was told that being moved over the road to their sister hotel.NOT WHAT I HAD BOOKED.Instead of being offered an alternative within the Alfagar complex.Althkugh the room was clean and well maintained. It wasnt what i wanted. In future they should inform the customer of ANY changes that might occur. And seeing as i had booked this hotel a month previous. They had more than enough time to contact me to let me know.
Review 29:This was the 2nd time i've been to Faro.I like the area. And the different sites and places to go.The weather wasnt too bad. With only a day and a bit of bad weather. Overall a good holiday.Only slightly marred by the breakdown on the accommodation.
Review 30:Nothing to dislike. As my wife stated - a place just like she had dreamed of. I agree with her.
Review 31:Everything was perfect, starting from 6 swimming pools, including one large for the kids with several different water attractions (slides etc). Area was well maintained, cleaned every single morning. Location is superb, overlooking the ocean and 5 minute walk from a great beach.
Review 32:When in our apartment with doors and windows shut the evening entertainment was VERY LOUD. The children's mini disco was a bit disappointing. We thought it was going to be a proper disco, disco lights, snacks and drinks etc. But it was just music playing. And the pools were extremely cold!!
Review 33:The hotel and apartments were lovely. Good location. Plenty of pools to chose from. Very clean.
Review 34:Think there were lots of groups of young men who were rather rowdy attimes, starting to drink quite early in the morning and going on intothe night. They were in the apartment next door to us, along withother family/friends next door but one (that was the luck of thedrawer) .....but nothing two older ladies on theirown......couldn't handle!!
Review 35:Freedom staying at the self-catering apartment, it's situation, andmost of all the apartment chosen....A Superior 2 bedded 2 bathroomedwith sea views...wonderful. There could have been anotherrestaurant/bar open for the evenings, but staff at the One that wasopen was fantastic, there is another at Alfagar Villlage but we werelate in the season for visit / 28th September perhaps?
Review 36:Drinks at the pools too expensive(more then Ireland). Pool bar staff not friendly, constantly getting wrong change back.
Review 37:Amazing gardens, pools, views, facilities. Great reception staff, very helpful. All gardens very well kept and maintained. Beautifull and clean place.
Review 38:Room was a bit noisy from neighbours at times. Thin walls. An option to have Wifi in the room would have been nice.
Review 39:Great Swimming pools and grounds. Not too crowded mid sept but still great weather. Close to a nice beach. Handy little supermarket. Great place for holiday with kids.
Review 40:Sea view Apts were amazing. Loads of pools. Can't find anything bad to say apart from the steps to the beach. A small price to pay. Manager was helpful with a room change. This was only because we had asked for a 1st floor and was originally given a ground floor.
Review 41:Couldn't fault it at all would of liked air conditioning but knew the room we went for didn't have it. It is about 20 mins walk into the new town and 40 minutes into the old town but it's definitely worth it the place is lovely!
Review 42:Lovely place, big rooms, right beside beach, choice of pools, staff were lovely. Didn't eat in the restaurant as we went out every night but the food in the bar was lovely for lunch
Review 43:apartments could do with Lifts, lots of stairs to lug cases up. Also the Buffet is a rip off. Poor selection of food and 20 euros per person. Very pricey. Also, the on site shop is way overpriced and some of the staff in the buganvilia bar don't say thank you or smile. Location is a long way out of Albufeira.
Review 44:Pools are fantastic and apartments are roomy and comfortable
Review 45:when we got into the apartment we noticed that the fridge door was broken the wardrobe could not be used in one of the bedrooms as water from the ceiling continually leaked water. fridge was fixed as soon as reported but wardrobe could not be fixed offered another room next day but decided to stay as we had everything unpacked.
Review 46:the surroundings and facilities very good complex very clean and well kept
Review 47:Taxi's can be a bit of nightmare at times.
Review 48:Excellent facilities, staff very pleasant and helpful, premises very clean & tidy. Location 1km from New town & 3km from Old town. Beautiful views from apartments.
Review 49:The room we were given for our stay on the 22nd 23rd August really was below standard. Extremely tired looking, especially the bathroom.. The kitchen was dark and dingy and the balcony wasn't big enough for 4 people. No air conditioning or fans? i would like to see the people who run this place staying in a hotel in England in the middle of winter with no heating! You have to like the resort very much because at the time we stayed here you had at least 25 minute wait for a taxi into town.
Review 50:The location with regards to the proximity to the beach was fantastic. The swimming pools were all lovely. Well stocked little minimarket
Review 51:its a pain to get a taxi at night if you want to go to old town only gripe normally end up waiting half hour. but only 10 mins to bars on the montechherio
Review 52:5th year absolutely fantastic place love it. superior room see view can't beat it.
Review 53:Sunbed are old and broken in alfargar one pool . Need replacing , everything else is great .
Review 54:Fabulous place with great staff . There is not enough staff in the pool bar of the alfargar village and they work so so hard and still try to smile through it . These staff are a credit to the hotel
Review 55:Unfriendly staff - hotel uses unskilled trainees. Lack of air conditioning and they say they did not claim that it's in our room, in my opinion it's simple example of cheating people - this is Portugal not Sweden; such things MUST be clearly communicated in advance. Broken parts of windows decreased level of the security and comfort. Water in swimming pool was often cold.
Review 56:Roomy and bright apartment. Cleaning service (of our room).
Review 57:Beautiful and clean, Algafar website doesn't do it justice. We upgraded to superior sea view room. Staff were lovely and friendly, would highly recommend.
Review 58:Very loud livemusic from the bar at the resort until midnight = 3 tired children and 2 tired parents. Our apartment wasn't close to the bar but still we heard the music loud and clear. We complained to the manager but he couldn't care less. We will not stay here again and we cannot recommend this resort for families. The pool was very crowded and noisy, mainly due to a large and obstructive schoolclass arriving there each afternoon.
Review 59:The walkingdistance to a good beach
Review 60:The awful – and awfully loud – music at the swimming pools and the inanities of the so-called animators. Do they ask guests if they really want to be 'animated' by such loud follies?
Review 61:Wonderful scenic views of land and sea. The beach nearby.
Review 62:some staff were very hard working and helpful others could do with some management. To far out if like old town, as taxis very hard got, but as a family that were staying round resort it ok.
Review 63:most things ,close to sea , kids all playing together , most 99% staff very helpful, maid service great did not come everyday but only needed to ask for something. remember they are only doing a job same as rest of us, and a thank you and a tip go,s a long way.
Review 64:Ants in our room, spraying them did not get rid of them. Uncomfortable beds, bad smell in room. Accommodation staff woke us every morning at 8 as they prepared to start work even though they didn't clean our apartment until the afternoon. Service in bougainvillea restaurant was slow.
Review 65:Swimming pools, food. Lovely playground for children. Convenient supermarket with good choice.
Review 66:No air conditioning!
Review 67:Just back after a week in alfagar 1 apartments. Had an absolute ball and we were heartbroken to be leaving!!Our apartment was very close to the bar, playground, and pools which was fantastic for us.The bar staff are very hard working and very pleasant. The food at the bar is lovely, especially the lasagne and the pork steak! The playground is perfect for all ages, you can see it from the bar aswell (it's right next to it) which is great if you want to have a drink you can watch the kids easily. There are games for the kids to play aswell; air hockey, foosball, pool etc. Theres entertainment every night which to be honest isn't great but the kids love it!At the hotel there are pools with slides etc. but we didn't use those ones. We used the ones beside us which were perfect, two kids pools and one deeper pool. The pool area is spotless and no fights for sun beds. The shop is well stocked with everything you will need and is reasonably priced. The hotel organised our trip to zoomarine, €30 for taxi there and back which is reasonable. We paid for everything at the reception, tickets and taxi. We also went to fiesa the sand world, the hotel again organised the taxi and we got tickets on entry, it was well worth the visit but really you only need an hour there, max 1.5hrs.Alfagar is only a short walk to the new town strip and a little bit further to old town. You could stroll in and taxi back or vice versa. It's a lovely area, most important part for us was the security, they patrolled the area in a mini bus and by walking around, they were not invasive whatsoever and it was a nice comfort. The beds were extremely comfortable, there's plenty wardrobe space and plenty of crockery and cutlery, no mugs though, just little tea cups. Note that you must put on timer to turn on the oven!!The apartments are spotless as are the footpaths, the stairwells and hallways, we noted the cleaning staff mopping the tiled walkways in the mornings.
Review 68:They had very noisy work going on next door. It started at 8 in morning till the evening. I was disappointed they put us in the apartment
Review 69:Nice big apartments, so good for kids with pools and slides. Loved going into old town at night.
Review 70:Modern flatscreen TV's are not expensive, this apartment was let down by the lack of one, its time for an upgrade.
Review 71:A well equipped apartment, spotless clean, with separate bedroom
Review 72:Our experience of reception staff was that while they were helpful they were not particularly friendly, not happy about charge for wifi (can get free wifi in nearby restaurants), telephone call charge for taxi .ping pong etc. Also did not like wild cats near the apartment
Review 73:Proximity to beach ,cleanliness, sea view and quiet complex, variety of pools , football pitch welcome ,options for eating
Review 74:If I was returning I would choose a room with a sea view.
Review 75:Marco in the snack bar is the most friendly & helpful person in the Algarve. my children really enjoyed having the laugh with him. Local restaurants were very nice also I would recommend the Three Maria's & Martins Place especially. The complex was very well maintained with room cleaned and towels changed regularly.
Review 76:Not a modern resort. The furniture was badly outdated and dirty. No A/C unless you upgrade. Extra charges for everything including pool towels.
Review 77:Good views but only if you book a superior sea view room. The pools were nice and resort has good access to the beach. Good little market on site.
Review 78:Bad smell in room. Sewer gas smell on terrace. Worn and dirty furniture. The room was next to the bar which had very loud music until 1am.
Review 79:The grounds and pool were nice.
Review 80:The pools are excellent, really clean, sun loungers a plenty, each pool has it's own public toilet facilities so never too far to walk. Location for beach excellent.
Review 81:The only tiny comment would be pillows werent very comfy in the apartment they needed more bounce.
Review 82:I loved all the different pools for all ages, lots of loungers to share around. My girls aged 7 and 9 kids loved the slides, the kids activities of the parrot show was fab and enabled a picture for 10 euros.. a holiday memory. There is entertainment on a evening whilst slightly dated it is a holiday you cant please all, but the kids can go and play in the play areas while the parents can drink in the bar. All very safe and child friendly. The 2 bed apartment was absolutely spotless all you need with the most gorgeous sea view and a tiny walk to a gorgeous beach. Lots of car parking two we had 2 cars for 6 of us and very easy access. The staff were extremely helpful and managed to upgrade us FREE to evening meal and breakfast for our one night stay. I would recommend this to any family as it was cleaner and nicer than my 5 star holiday in Eygpt. 3 star and you would think its 4 star , its just such good value ... book now everyone !! I am definately coming back.
Review 83:appartments :more soap .extra cleaning day( we got one in the week)
Review 84:facilities were brilliant, flowers plants greenery gave a beautiful relaxed setting.staff were very helpful
Review 85:Nothing
Review 86:Perfect ocean view, big terrace, very nice room service, climate furniture in bedroom. Amazing location with the beautifull garden on the top of high cliff, big and extremely clean swimming pools, picturesque path to the ocean.
Review 87:We were too close to the bar where loud mudic was played until late at night As we were sleeping with open windows, it was difficult to find sleep
Review 88:Proximity to the beach, 2 nice swimming pools Size of the accommodation Location, incredible weather
Review 89:Only a minor point but a slight way out of the main off site bars etc but a 15 min walk to The Strip or an 8-10 euro each way taxi to the Old Town. It really is one site between Alfagar I & II.
Review 90:It is a beautifully well maintained site with nice grounds and an abundant choice of pools. Nice cheesy entertainment in the evenings. Lovely apartment which was good value for money. Kids loved it and so did we. Beach right next to the site as well.
Review 91:We found the bed to be a little too firm for our liking. The room above us was being renovated, intermittent noise, however it was only between 9am & 8pm.
Review 92:Resort has everything we needed, very close to a beautiful rugged coast line / beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 93:Some parts unfinished, no internet access within apartments (but free at the bar). Food and service at the bar was unimpressive.
Review 94:Very well looked after development near to Albufiera (car still ideal), nice comfortable and well-sized apartments, good pricing, good breakfast. Pool and grounds were spotless and the gardens were very well looked after. Particularly impressed with staff, Debbie at reception and Carlos in the restaurant were a pleasure to deal with and thanks to them for looking after us.
Geweldig.
Review 97:The only complaint we have is the pool side bar (the only one open in May) Was not great. Poor & slow service. Not kept clean & tidy. The coffee was un drinkable. Very basic menue & the cold drinks were not cold. Considering the rest of the resort is so well run this should be easily rectified.
Review 98:The apartment had the most stunning sea views. The gardens were immaculately kept & the pools were spotless & so relaxing. The walk to the beach along the cliff tops is truly wonderful. We can't wait to take our family back as on this occasion it was just the 2 of us. The reception area in the hotel is very organised. Nothing is to much trouble & the service is second to none.
Review 99:Sofa bed not the best for comfort but beds were comfortable.
Review 100:Facilities - everything you need right there withput having to go far, which helps when you have ypung children. Also love the beach and beautiful scenery all around.
Review 101:Clean and well stocked kitchen facility but we had to buy soap and sponge at their mini market to wash our dishes. Would have been nice to have that provided.
Review 102:This is the place to come with young children for your family holiday. The resort has kid friendly pools an amazing playground, football field and tennis courts. Most of the families we saw had children 10 and under. Many had a couple children under 5 years like us. Beautiful beach access.
Review 103:Appartments are badly cleaned, we spent 2 hrs cleaning the place when we arrived. We have some nice photos about I.e. Almost black cleaning towel after cleaning the inside dining table. Same for kitchen, floor etc. quality assurance is bad as well. First day no toilet paper, towels where not exchanged according to schedule published by management. Bed linens were not changed at all in 12 days stay ( management schedule is once per week). Don't book ocean view extra as most apartments with the claimed feature don't have one. We complained at front desk because we thought it's must be wrong room and got rather firm answer that it can be seen from balcony. In our case, there was only small area on balcony where you could see small patches of ocean.
Review 104:The pools are good for children. Garden is well maintained.
Review 105:Need to introduce a queueing system for the shuttle bus.
Review 106:The superior sea view room is very spacious with breathtaking views. The resort is very well laid out with excellent facilities for families. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back again.
Review 107:No wifi in our room. I had to go to the lobby once to get internet. We went there to be at the beach and sleep, not be on the internet so it was fine.
Review 108:Very inexpensive but beautiful apartments with nice layouts. Incredible views. A little hike down the cliff via the stairs to get to the beach but it's not bad, maybe a 10 minute walk. It's set up on a cliff overlooking the blue/green ocean. 2 minutes away from a LOT of restaurants just west of the apartments. Loved it!
Review 109:The complex need more staff in the snack bar service was very slow 30 minute wait for service too long and then had to go to the bar to order nobody came to the table.
Review 110:The shop, snack bar food, entertainment and the pools.
Review 111:Contractors renovating APT just underneath ours all our stay sometimes till late, childrens pool with slides being painted at that time
Review 112:Lovely place for family hols
Review 113:Maybe just lack of Wi-Fi available on whole terrain.
Review 114:We've rented the apartment with the view on the ocean - perfect choice! There was 5 min walk to the beach. Whle place is outstanding you can spend all the holidays on site: 3 (or 4?) swimming pools, playgrounds, restaurants, bars...
Review 115:There was a lot of broken sun beds around the pools!
Review 116:Great location, lovely sea views, beautiful gardens, very friendly staff, clean & comfortable apartments
Review 117:The staff were great, the apartments had amazing views and were clean, with all the amenities were catered for in the resort and they had many swimming pools to choose from. There is a good catering service on site although we did not use it. We had stayed there twice in 5 months and will go back again
Review 118:No wifi available in rooms at all, but free wifi at the pool bar. Pool bar menu average. Coffee machines provided but no filters provided or sold in the market - we just used a hanky.
Review 119:A very nice apartment resort in a good location to Algarve area, right on the cliff face with easy access to beaches. Many swimming pools and recreation facilities. Little market selling almost everything you need. A very comfortable and convenient base for exploring the region. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 120:I did not appreciate the fact that there were many units being renovated which meant hammering, drilling and sawing all day, every day. The most beautiful view cannot be enjoyed with the constant noise.. The towels were sparse and flimsy, as were the bedsheets. The shower head is awkwardly placed so that you are up against the wall as you try to shampoo.
Review 121:The location is very good for access to Albufeira and other towns in the Algarve. The apartment is spacious and it was especially appreciated to have two bathrooms. Most staff members were cheerful, efficient and attentive (not all). The shuttle to and from town was very convenient. TV should be upgraded as should the wifi. Could not understand why it was available in the lobby only between 4pm and midnight. It was available in the bar all day, but that location tends to be noisy.
Review 122:One heater is not sufficient enough for heating during winter period Without a car the hotel is to far from the city center
Review 123:Large livingroom and bedroom. Nice situated nearby the sea Supermarkets nearby
Review 124:Staff where a little rude when checking in. Very cold in Apartment, and very noisy due to New years eve party going on for two night,s in the next room until after 4 in the morning. .(even though there where not supposed to be any allowed.)
Review 125:Very good facilities for Young children, good value for money.
Review 126:our apartment was north facing so didn't get any sun through the day so the apartment was slightly cold on an evening (but is was December)
Review 127:we had use of the indoor pool which we were unaware of when we booked ,well maintained gardens and site in general, very pleased with the apartment and kitchen facilities , the complex is a 15 minute walk from albufera but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel
Review 128:The beds were very hard. I am missing a dish washer. No Wifi in the apartments.
Review 129:The premesis are great, four pool areas, soccer field, tennis court and several restaurants plus a small shop. The beach is just some steps away. It is also beatiful.
Review 130:No wifi in apartament high prices in the restaurant
Review 131:Location water playground swimming pool close to the beach(one 200m and second around 1 km) friendly personnel Bus stop 50m from hotel
Review 132:We asked for was a sea facing apartment (4-102), we actually got one that faced the next door building site, and the balcony had a sea view if you were standing up. The smell of damp from the wardrobe in the main bedroom was so overpowering, that we had to move to the 2nd bedroom for the 2nd night, in which our 17 month baby was sleeping in. This still smelt of damp but not as bad!! The apartment was so dark that no sunlight got in whatever time of day it was. When we first arrived we noticed the floors were still dirty and needed to be wiped over as our feet got so black, and we didn't want our toddler running around. Even found bugs in the corner of the rooms. Finally the noise from people coming and going the apartment was crazy. The hotel put the cot in the room nearest the front door, which meant every time someone who had enjoyed their evening out return back to the block, we could hear every word and slamming door. It didn't provide us with a finish to a great holiday, as we had been in Portugal for a week already and these were 2 nights before we jetted off home.
Review 133:The size and the layout of the apartment was good. Facilities at the hotel were great, lots of bars etc. Different pools to choose from
Review 134:No wifi in the apartments. No dish washer. The beds were a bit hard.
Review 135:The location is great just next to the beach. The 4 pool areas are great. There are slides for the kids, a tennis and soccer court. There are two pool bars. One with free wifi.
Review 136:Waiting times at reception on average 10 minutes plus before speaking to a member of staff at all times of day.
Review 137:The seaview was gorgeous. Playgrounds and pool facilities excellent for children. Apartment was vey clean and cleaned regularly throughout our stay.
Review 138:Would have been nice to have a free regular shuttle bus to town of Albufeira and some discount on airport shuttle. No Milk+coffee/tea + salt/pepper arrival pack. Beach/pool towels not provided. No wifi in flat
Review 139:Excellent value for money. Very relaxing resort, laid out as a village with beautiful gardens. Lovely clean flat, kitchen well equipped, comfortable beds + sofa bed, towels changed as we wished. Nice terrace with sea view + garden furniture and direct access to one of the pool (4 in total) and also to path to the beautiful clean sandy beach. 2 restaurants were nice but we mainly ate in the lovely old town of Albufeira 10 mins bus/taxi away. Would definitely recommend and go back. Also only 40 mins to Faro airport.
Review 140:Noise from guests in apartment above. Could hear every footstep, chair being scraped across floor and toilet being flushed!
Review 141:Great facilities for the kids - good variety of pools (although on the cold side), football pitch - great for our football mad boys! Two well equipped play parks and a short walk (down 155 steps!) to the beach. Really love Alfagar.
Review 142:going home!!!!!!!!!
Review 143:good for all ages food entertainment clean apartment for 7 people fantastic... staff views of the beach from all over the apt...
Review 144:Beds were a bit hard.
Review 145:The resort is beautifully laid out with a lovely village atmosphere. It has a great range of pools for use. It is only a few minutes walk down to the beach which is also lovely. The resort is pretty much self contained so no need to go into Albuferia which is a bit of an eyesore. However, it is only about a 10 minute walk into town and the resort also runs a shuttle bus. 8 would certainly recommend this resort as a place to stay for anyone as caters for all ages.
