The retreat is 3 minutes’ drive from Flagstaff Hill Historic Reserve and Long Beach. It is 4 minutes’ drive from both Russell Museum and Russell Village.
All modern, luxurious accommodation features a patio with sea views and outdoor furniture. A kitchenette or a fully equipped kitchen is also included.

Review 1：Our unit, pahutakawa, was one room with window onto communal terrace, so no privacy, and view obscured by outside stairs and Barbie units. Rented with 'pacifica' as two bed unit it would be excellent. As a single unit for a week it was poor. We hardly saw our hosts all week, maybe because weather stopped us sitting out and the lack of privacy makes it hard for them to approach the unit.

Review 3：It felt like I was staying in the home of dear friends. You have all the privacy you want, but you may also end up sitting out on the deck enjoying a glass of wine and a chat with the delightful owners. Or borrowing a kayak down on the beach. And each morning a chorus of beautiful bird songs will welcome the day.

Review 5：Chris was a lovely host, extremely accommodating with some great suggestions for restaurants or things to do. The view is wonderful. The accommodation is beautifully furnished and very well equipped. There is a laundry, BBQ's as well as an outdoor spa.

Review 6：Arrived to find other guests had inadvertently moved into our allocated rooms - but this was sorted relatively easily by the staff Blew a fuse but this too was sorted quickly and efficiently by on-site staff.

Review 12：Kelvin and Christine were the most wonderful hosts who couldn't do enough for you. Any request however small was cheerfully complied with. The unit itself was comfortable and tastefully decorated and the location a bluff overlooking the bay was superb.

Review 13：The rooms were luxurious and comfortable. The location and outlook from the property was outstanding, Bay of Islands at your doorstep. Quiet, friendly owners and welcoming.

Review 14：Great location. Not too far from town and access to the beach right outside the room. Free kayak hire and barbecues available for guest use. Room was modern and well kept. Very comfortable stay. Would recommend to anyone :)

Review 15：Need fewer ornaments and more attention to paying travellers and advertised facilities. The two one-bedroom units are underneath the owners' house and ideally set-up for two couples travelling together, especially as the microwave is in one unit and the hotplates in the other and they share the patio. The two bedroom unit is at the back of the owners' house. Very pleasant but not sure the owners see themselves as being part of a 'service' industry. The stairs to the "private" (it's not but that doesn't matter) beach greatly need attention.

Review 24：Only very slight niggle is that it would be useful to have a mirror in the main area to use when the bathroom is ovcupied.

Review 25：Best bed I've slept in for years! Beautiful location right on beach. Have to drive to restaurants and shops, but this is not a problem. Lovely relaxed feel, hosts were extremely friendly and helpful without being over the top.

Review 26：Lack of privacy in room , the room over looked a very small garden where the owners and guests could have a bbq/beer. The owners live over the accommodation and had friends round at 11pm and played loud music until midnight- we were not impressed!

Review 29：Told I was not able to use laundry facilities due to tank water restrictions even though this facility is clearly advertised on the website. If owners don't want guest to launder, then they should remove this facility from their listing! also the cable TV reception was terrible!

Review 30：Everything was brand new and excellently maintained. the kitchen was fully stocked with everything that you could require for self catering, although Russell and it's beautiful restaurants is only a short 5 minute drive away. The private beach, tho treacherous to walk down , was well worth the effort!

Review 31：The accommodation is bellow someone else's place. One night the landlords had a party until 1am playing very loud music and drinking heavily, a total disrespect for paying customers, especially for a couple with a young child.

Review 33：I would recommend this place to everyone except those who may be less mobile, as there are steps involved ( down to the beach & just a few to the main apartment ) .. however the lower apartments are very accessible just not as big.

Review 34：Lovely private spot with roomy rooms, immaculately clean and stylish in every detail, down to kitchenware & linen. Outdoor spa with starry night sky and sights & sound of waves lapping on the beach. Spectacular backyard view with own access to the sea via quick path. Warm and welcoming owners, who live unobtrusively upstairs in separate space.

Review 35：Everything was great, but you'd probably need a car to get there but it's worth it!

Review 36：Chris and Kelvin were very welcoming and helpful during our stay! We used the barbecue facilities and the spa overlooking the sea. We also went kayaking from our very own "Kokomo Beach" area. Tapeka Point is not far from Russell, an exclusive little residential area with not too many tourists.

Review 37：It wasn't as advertised - there is no sea view at all from the Kiwiana suite (which is the larger 2 bd suite), even though it very much looks that way from the website. There's very little privacy with the layout as it's on the back of the owner's house in a suburb, so if you were to sit on the deck, you're relatively up close with all their neighbours. At night there were ++ flies outside and basically we just had to sit inside, with the blinds closed to avoid being stared at by neighbours. As well, the beach is really rocky/pebbly, no sand, and down a rather precarious flight of stairs overgrown by plant life - you wouldn't want to be elderly walking down there! In spite of telling the owners I would have a conference call on the Sunday and need late checkout, they declined to let me know that they had new guests coming in and that they would need us out prior to my requested 1pm checkout. Thus I ended up having to end my conference call to shower and pack up our belongings and get out of the room, and unfortunately was unable to get back in to the call. I wasn't very impressed by that lack of communication at all. All in all, not as advertised and not worth $200 per night when you can get that rate for properties right in Russell (this is a good 7 min drive out of Russell and not walkable).

Review 39：We were disappointed on arrival as I had understood/misunderstood that all apartments had sea views. We were in the 2 bedroom apartment, which is at the back and has only a glimmer of a sea view.
