The Soneva Kiri provides transportation on a seven-seater Piper Navajo Chieftain private plane from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, where an 80-minute flight takes guests to Soneva Kiri’s own airport, which is a 5-minute speedboat ride to the hotel. Koh Chang Island is 43 miles from the property.

Reviews for Soneva Kiri

Review 1:A lot of noise during the night coming from animals (frogs, birds, bats, etc.). We had a mouse, several frogs and giant geckos in the Villa (a frog also defecated in the bedroom!).Villa's layout very inconvenient and not at all soundproof. The personal Friday (butler) service is not exclusive. Our Friday Chompoo was efficient but not so friendly. There is not a single indoor place where to dine, which makes eating very uncomfortable in the hot season, especially in the main restaurant (they should definitely have at least one indoor air-con restaurant). Poor food variety and not always of good quality (e.g. chicken was not good; tofu was horrible). In Villa dining service a real disaster, never punctual and never right, and I also think the chef responsible was not very good. Gym is very small and old concept. The Spa is more expensive than at the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok! Not even one television in the whole resort but in the staff accommodation to watch big events such as the Champions League semi-final (or at least I wasn’t provided with any despite I gave them one week notice, although the manger Douglas says it is possible to arrange that). There are many mosquitoes and sand flies. I understand the “no news no shoes philosophy”...but they should have flip-flops readily available if people ask for them! The water is not always clean and there is poor visibility (and btw not much to see). Service overall is not good enough for the price you pay. Managers did try to solve some of the problems, but only partially succeeded.

Review 2:Beautiful island and stunning views. Staff is mostly very friendly (and I thank Benz and some of the supervisors waiters I unfortunately don’t remember the name of for their very kind attention!). When I asked to cook specific things, the executive Chef Gabriel at the View restaurant did it very well. The limited variety of fish available was very good (except the local tuna). Fruit and vegetables were also almost always good. Very good service in the Spa (but some of the treatments were of only average quality). They prepare very good yogurts and also an excellent soy yogurt. Swimming is very nice and the lifeguards/kayak guys were always available (you need them to come with you if you want to venture a bit cause speed boats form nearby resorts just don't care and pass very fast and close to you).

Review 3:Sandflies, the place is plagued with them and it wasn't only dawn/dusk it was all day. Our stay was ruined by the discomfort they caused and we left looking like we had chicken pox. Dengue fever, I spent 10 days in bed when I got home with dengue fever. The only mosquito bites i got were at Soneva Kiri. Kids club - staff a great but my daughter got around 30 mosquito bites on the second day after playing in one of the pods. Service - no way near as good as they think it is. Terrible management, only want to hear good things and didn't follow up on our complaints. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I know and wouldn't go back if it was free and included 1st class British Airways flights from London to Bangkok.

Review 4:The beach was beautiful. Although in the end we didn't go there because of the sandflies and swarms of normal flies that surrounded you as soon as you sat down.
