Reviews for Kitapevi Hotel

Review 1:I couldn't fault this hotel at all. The staff is very polite and helpful, rooms absolutely spotless and food excellent. It was like staying in somebody's house. There's a lovely patio area for dining, and a room at the bottom of the garden with a big fireplace. All you could wish for!

Review 2:Ideal location overlooking Bursa, easily reached by foot. Old Ottoman converted book store/library, with character. We booked a spacious suite with luxurious hammam. Very helpful staff and the hotel van can meet you on arrival at the ferry-port at no charge. Well worth dining there too.

Review 3:The free transfer from the ferry terminal is excellent. The hotel is quietly situated yet so handy for all the sites. Wandering about the old part of the town within the city walls close to the hotel was very interesting. There was a cosy fire in the restaurant in the evening.

Review 4:my stay was too short

Review 5:The service was outstanding. They took care of all luggage as soon as we arrived and made us feel at home while doing the check in. The terrace is beautiful and the food delicious, They also arranged for transportation to the next destination. The manager even took the luggage from the hotel on his personal car to the van taking us to the next destination.

Review 6:- Value for money - Rare Ottoman house turned into a hotel which is priceless to those who appreciate history - Incredible service - Turkish Breakfast - Location - Fantastic View - Pickup service to and from Bus Terminal and Sea Ferry

Review 7:romantic old ottoman style small hotel, high up in the old citadel of Bursa. convenient walk to grand mosque and hans. Lovely garden and food service 24/ 7. nice staff and they provide free transport to and from ferry port.. breakfast is included. .

Review 8:None.

Review 9:A unique small hotel in a historic building, a converted book shop, in the walls of the old town. Great location but difficult to find in a car without a satnav. The staff were very helpful going out of their way to try and purchase ferry tickets for me. Breakfast was delicious in the small, pretty and tranquil walled garden.

Review 10:Nothing that we remember

Review 11:Almost everything was great, service and staff were wonderful, the roof suite is probably the best in Bursa with the best view

Review 12:Isolation is bad , cleanning also need attention

Review 13:The location is located at the heart of the city, the staff are amazing specailly Jokhan senturk, the breakfast is really great :)

Review 14:The decorative large bath suits the style of the room but it would be more helpful to utilise that sizeable space for a working desk - its absence is the only thing that could be improved. There are 89 steps from the Citadel down to the road, outside the front door of the hotel. You need to be happy to cope with them.

Review 15:Close to the Covered Market. Elegant wooden structure. All staff - reception and dining - are very friendly and helpful. The garden for breakfast and dinner is very relaxing. The dinner meals are good value. Our room was large, very good bathroom. Ample TV channels, some showing occasional English language programmes plus several EuroSport channels.

Review 16:Our stay at this exceptional cozy hotel was more than perfect, we loved everything about it, the warm welcome, the scent of the garden, the atmosphere, rooms, view, staff, location and breakfast. Everything fits in its place. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Review 17:Very helpful staff...but some staff members should really improve the basics of English speaking...

Review 18:Very nice atmosphere, perfect traditional interior, beautiful garden where we had our breakfasts.

I recommend some area of improvement such as replacing the window shade to be block the sun light and urgently replace the window cover at the bath area. It was broken and room can be seen from outside. They also need to change some old and detieorated furniture.

Review 20:Location of the hotel in the city center where you can find malls and restaurants nearby. Also they are serving good breakfast with nice and friendly staff. You really feel like at home.

Review 21:No security and no privacy especially at room 6 which is next to reception desk. In most time there was no reception staff at the desk

Review 22:The old type antique settings

Review 23:Twin beds only had one small flat pillow, but maybe another could have been requested.

Review 24:Friendly, helpful staff; beautiful, tranquil courtyard (lovely flowers, a charming fountain, ceramic features...) So many nice touches...as well as turtles in the courtyard. Excellent food! We would definitely beautiful oasis in the heart of Bursa but close to many sites.

Review 25:All things were perfect..Thanks to the welcomed and helpful receptionists..great room classic equipments and view..Quite location..Wonderful and amazing garden.. Free transfer to the bus station..The receptionist had prepared the breakfast for me at 7:30 as I had to leave before 8..Many thanks

Review 26:Tiny room size, bathroom and shower size is too small to fit a person. The stairs to reach hotel is cumbersome, the furniture is cheap and old. Also, wooden floors make walking is disturbing to others

Review 27:Freindly staff, very good location, breakfast served at the garden was excellent

Review 28:This hotel was the most comfortable and fine place in the whole city. Bursa is super boring, most cafes and restaurants are fine if you lowered your expectations before trip. If you have in mind something like having an avocado salad and fruits with glass of white wine for branch, then you're doomed. No salads, no avocado, no wine. Fish restaurants are not good at all too. Luckily I was able to get fine wine and fruits in the hotel.

Review 29:marvelous city of Bursa; breakfast; hospitality of the staff; proximity to the old town; free shuttle to & from bus terminal & ferry port; lovely partio

Review 30:bed sheets and cover are bad, need more renovation for rooms, cleanless are average

Review 31:We liked the garden mostly and our suit, very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 32:Did not have hot water one evening, and the room did not get cleaned throughout our stay despite us leaving a sign on the door. Slight drain smell in the shower.

Review 33:Rooms are very charming, tastefully kitted out. The front desk staff are very helpful.

Review 34:The rooms were wonderful and so beautifully fitted out with antique furniture and luxurious accessories. This is the place to be - the only stylish hotel we could find in Bursa... The garden is a fortress of seduction into the Turkish world - the smell of Lila, Jasmine and lemon wasps one away , and the food takes you on a journey of authentic Turkish cuisine. I want to return as soon as possible! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Review 35:Room with view over the city very hot; But I have to state that air conditioned solved the problem. Staff training must be improved, specially in terms of communication skills.

Review 36:The garden. The style of the house and location in the historical quater. The view over the city. Bier in the room and in the restaurant, an important factor in a city where it is not easy to find alchoolic beverages in most restaurants and cafees.

Review 37:Very nice small hotel on the top of the hill with an excellent view. Located at the historical center but in a quiet place. It is also in a walk distance from the non-tourist part of the city (on the slopes of the mountain) that might be interesting to those who want to see everyday life of ordinary people in Turkey, and also the prices there are much lower.

Review 38:Nothing at all.

Review 39:We stayed in room 6 which was extremely spacious and overlooked the garden dining area. It had a Bath & separate walk in shower. The staff were excellent, warm & welcoming.

Review 40:Paid for upgrade but I have a suspicion we were still given the standard room.

Review 41:Excellent, central location. Great value for money. Clean room. Previously I had stayed at the Hilton doubletree in Bursa, this was a less luxurious yet cosier hotel that definitely added to and enhanced my Bursa experience.

Review 42:Nothing to say. Some things have to stay the same in order to complete this experience.

Review 43:I stayed for 2 night. I cannot say anything that would need to be beter. The employees are great and the sensation and vibe of the hotel is unique. But let's not forget the placement.... Great!

Review 44:To be honest, I can't think of anything

Review 45:Beautiful place, obviously furnished and maintained with a lot of love and care. We had the rooftop suite, which I can highly recommend. The restaurant is also good, as is the breakfast. Also, the hotel provides a free transport service from and to the Istanbul ferry, which was very convenient

Review 46:Everything was perfect and invites you to relax and enjoy! We could choose our room and piced the hamam room, which was very nice! The Stadt was extremly frendly and helpful and the howl house is very tastful decoraded! I'd defently recommend to visit this Palace and if it's only for a very gorgeous breakfast vor dinner!

Review 47:Everything about this hotel is likable: the hotel room concept; mixed vintage and modern furnishings; complete toiletries; very clean room; attentive and accommodating staff; homey hotel atmosphere; located at the heart of Bursa City Centre (walking distance to Great Mosque, Covered Market, hamam, shopping areas, and restaurants and train stations; 10-15 minutes cab ride to teleferik (cable car) terminal; free wifi; free transport from and to the Bursa bus and ferry terminals.

Review 48:Too many stair steps from main road to hotel entrance

Review 49:Very nice and comfortable hotel, very good location and helpfull staff, free shuttle to sea port or bus station. whatever you want they will be there for you

Review 50:While the pick up worked out (we agreed to be picked up the night beforewe arrived the next day..we thought it was logical we would be as wellbrought pack, but the hotel management applied strictly the rule thatthis must be ordered the day before(we asked at 9am for a drop-off at7pm):so be aware of this..so you dnt finish up to pay 70tl for a taxi tothe ferry or 2stressful rides in the metro+bus for 1h like us...(forwhich you need a transport card+know where the metro stop is)

Review 51:Very nicely decorated, in walking distance to the sights of Bursa, greatbreakfast, well heated, guides in paper+pdf, stylish..definitely theplace to stay in town.

Review 52:the connection of Wifi was very bad.

Review 53:I like the hotel from all sides, it was really a good option in terms of location, style, service, the atmosphere, the yard out side with with the fire place, Simple but a lot of memories. we just love it and I would always recommend it.

Review 54:-Cracking noise from wooden floor -a long stair climb to the hotel frommain street -Lighting of staircases needs improvement for safety -slightly overvalued

Review 55:-Very helpful reception staff with excellent English communicationskills -hotel room window overlooks Bursa Ulu mosque and the old city-walking distance to shopping area and bazar

Review 56:Difficult to find and park, the hotel took car of parking our car.Several flights of stairs down to the street below, also stairs to deal with at the hotel, no elevator.

Review 57:The mgmt and staff were very accommodating. The dinner was only fare, however the breakfast was good and the garden setting was nice.Good view of the City

Review 58:The garden is only for hotel guests at breakfast, otherwise it is a bar and restaurant that guests cannot use without buying drinks or food. Cannot drink own drinks in the garden. Wifi signal is unusable unless you are in the basement or the first floor; they need to invest in some repeaters. Rooms on facing the road will be loud until about 1am, ask for a room overlooking the garden.

Review 59:Good location Proximity to main sights Ambience and decor Good breakfast in garden Tortoise in garden

Review 60:This was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. The friendliness of the staff is probably the main point, the beautiful building, the awesome breakfast, all the room details... The best, thank you for providing a memorable experience.

Review 61:not easy to find the place even with gps and local taxi driver

Review 62:perfect location for sightsseeing, good quality accomodation, nice garden, attentive staff, helpful front desk, clean rooms with many kind details

Review 63:Slow internet

Review 64:The design and people who work there are very friendly

Review 65:No Lift

Review 66:The location of the hotel and the view from our room. The breakfast garden is also very nice.

Review 67:Everything was great!

Review 68:Nothing

Review 69:The historical nature of the place. Staff are so much cooperared, helping in plannig tours and reservations. Great view from suites.

Review 70:The location and the view was amazing.

Review 71:Everything

Review 72:Dinner was a bit pricey and service was a bit disordered

Review 73:Lovely old building up above the city, very tastefully ordered.

Review 74:Nothing bad

Review 75:Courtyard restaurant, comfortable well designed rooms.High standard fittings for shower etc

Review 76:Great restaurant with warm environment! Staff happy to help with transfers to local ferry port!

Review 77:Lack of wardrobe / storage.

Review 78:Excellent & friendly staff, fantastic breakfast, transfers to and from ferry port.

Review 79:We loved loved loved our stay at Kitabevi. You won 't be disappointed!

Review 80:na

Review 81:food, drink, location, staff....

Review 82:The hotel needs renew

Review 83:Very good location

Review 84:We were upgraded and had a great room, very large and comfortable. The breakfast was great.

Review 85:There were some small spiders in the room.

Review 86:Staff are amazing and location.

Review 87:If you travel with your car is hard to find it.

Review 88:All is perfect.

Review 89:Very friendly staff. They would do anything to make you happy. We were all so happy during out stay. Location is amazing. Thank you.

Review 90:Wifi

Review 91:Location Style

Review 92:I specially liked the free shuttle service from the bus terminal

Review 93:A heritage building full of charm and helpful staff

Review 94:A bit hard to access via car, but Google maps got us right to the front door. Limited parking, but we were able to find a space.

Review 95:Beautiful historic property located in the center city near important historic sites. Pleasant courtyard and hotel decorated with original antiques. Good breakfast and lunch. Although staff has somewhat limited English, we were able to communicate without much problem. Location gives great access to the historic city center, which has an inviting small-town feel.

Review 96:The noise outside the front rooms makes it a bit difficult at times to rest.

Review 97:The staff is very helpful overall. The historic building and interior are unique. The location is great for the urban sightseeing spots. Transport to and from the ferry was handled by staff. The Turkish breakfast was very delicious and in the lovely courtyard with the tortoises, turtles, and birds.

Review 98:The safes were not bolted down. While adequate for a three-night say, a little more storage in the room would be a plus for a longer stay.

Review 99:What a fantastic location on top of the old citadel walls and right next to one of its gates - Saltanat Kapısı ( Hisar Kapısı - The Gate of the Rule)! Access to the many of the main sights in Bursa - Ulu Camii (The Great Mosque), Koza Hani (the Bursa Silk Bazaar), and the Tombs of Osman and Orhan – are a short walk.We traveled to Bursa by ferry from Istanbul (1 hour 45 minutes on IDO ferry from Yenikapi terminal in Istanbul to Güzelyalı ferry terminal, which is about 30 Km from the hotel, but Kitap Evi provides free transport from the ferry terminal to the hotel! They also provided free transport back to the ferry on our departure. That adds some real value to the price of the room. One note on the location – if you arrive by private car or taxi, you can drive very close to the front of the hotel to drop your bags. However, if you take public transport, like a bus, you may have to walk from Ozman Gazi Caddesi (the street at the bottom of the citadel walls) up the stairs to the hotel – a total of 89 steps (we counted them!!). If you arrive by taxi, insist they take you up to the hotel rather than dropping you at the bottom of the steps. One other item regarding access to the hotel – if you are returning to the hotel from, for example, Ulu Camii (The Great Mosque), stay on Cemal Nadir Caddesi to just past the fountain and take the outdoors escalator nest to Balibey Han up to Ozman Gazi Caddesi to save walking up the relatively steep street. It takes you up to somewhat close to the bottom of the 89 steps up to the hotel. You should have great views of Bursa from your room (if you have a room on the front of the hotel) or from the area in front of the hotel on top of the citadel walls. Rooms on the back of the hotel face the enclosed courtyard (unless it is a room below the ground level of the garden). We were in Room 10 (one of two rooms of The Uludağ Suit), facing the courtyard, looking out on a Magnolia Tree that was just about to bloom!

Review 100:Promised pick up at ferry terminal didn't happen, despite sending two emails saying when we would arrive. Staff at hotel were not helpful, saying we should just make our own way to the hotel. Also had a bad experience in the restaurant, took over an hour for the staff to tell my partner his choice was not available, by which time I'd finished eating. Second time there, won't go again.

Review 101:Great location, good breakfast, lovely rooms

Review 102:To get to it, you need either to take a winding path up the residential hill between narrow alleys, or take a 60 steps stone stairs. No elevator also. This means that those with any health problems, lots of luggage, or a baby trolley should think twice before choosing this hotel The AC was not working tell the last day of my visit. It was annoying but not a disaster because I visited in May.

Review 103:Location is near to the heart of Bursa The smell of old real wood and antique furniture made me go back decades to remember my grandmother’s house. It’s a beautiful place for those seeking a piece of the past Breakfast with great too The backyard is a small garden with a water fountain and 3 turtles. It makes you feel happy inside just to sit there Staff were nice and smiling all the time

Review 104:Difficult to find & car parking very limited.

Review 105:Handy to local Bazaar & Shops. Good views over town. Situated in the old area. Restaurant was good with excellent courtyard.

Review 106:Ok lets start, we checked-in to the hotel and was given a room just opposite the reception table, was so noisy specially that we had a kid. We requested for a room on higher floor but the other options shown were expensive. Anyways we stayed in the room, tried to book a travel service through Long Travel, we wanted to go through a Group the agency first told us that we can join the group and be ready at 1pm, then this guy showed up and said the group has already left so we can only arrange for a private tour. After about one hour or so we got the transport to visit few sites. Next day we planned to go out with the same agency and we went with a group. We had to stay on uludag mountain at the end of our trip but some disagreements happened between the Long Travel agency staff and we were moved to a private car. At the end of the trip the driver charged us 100 to 150 TL more by stating that we had a long tour and its a private tour bla bla bla... in short i would not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel or to use the Long Travel agency for traveling around Bursa.

Review 107:Except for the location, i could not find any other reason to like this hotel.

Review 108:We stayed in the roof suite and we liked the view, balcony and the interior decoration. The staff was very nice and welcoming. We liked the traditional theme of the hotel for a very romantic holiday.

Review 109:the receptionist wasn't always on their own place. they need to take care of their air circulation. At night, somebody smoked in the hotel comes into my room. the door of the room is made of wood. and underneath of it has a some space. so the air was hard to sleep. If they hasve a strict rules for the smoking. It was fantastic hotel...

Review 110:the location and the history was good. also the best was the breakfast in the hostorical site.

Review 111:It was a bit hassle to reach to the hotel...cause you have to climb the stairs 2 or three times a day..but still a good hotel.

Review 112:An antique hotel...Very Nice Breakfast.. Plus...You can have it very late close to Noon time and very helpful staff and the hotel is close to everything...shopping and food.

Review 113:Awesome..awesome..awesome. ..staff,location,pickup n drop off all excellent.miss u kitapevi and will be back soon .inshallah...breakfast served was superbly delicious and served with lot of luv.thank u all for u r hospitality.

Review 114:Proper parking

Review 115:Polite staff, historic theme, Central location, delicious food with neat presentation. The Hammam suite was one of a kind. Close to number of Camii

Review 116:Excellent staff, will go out of their way to help you. The boutique hotel gave you a homely feeling. The restaurant & the adjoining courtyard gives a great ambiance in night.

Review 117:I got the room next to entrance door, AVOID if you are an early sleeper as the floors are wooden and you can hear every squecky movement made.

Review 118:It feels like an aged castle, reminiscent of Downton Abbey (UK show period drama). Malls and shops are close by and being situated on a hill allows you a panoramic view of central Bursa. Was a true delight staying there.

Review 119:Walls are very thin , you can hear any noise in the room next to you , and Wi-Fi signal is not strong

Review 120:Its location is perfect , near downtown , bus station and dolmuche station to Uludag , Hotel was clean and nice , room is comfy and staff are helpful and kind Breakfast is rich too

Review 121:For the price l was frankly expecting something better - bordering on shabby chic, maybe not for everyone. Some people may be dissapointed. Our room was pretty but small and the aircon system wasn't enough to keep it warm unless you had it on all the time.

Review 122:The buiding is nice in that you are in an old Ottoman style building. It feels like a bed and breakfast rather than like a hotel - not saying this is bad. We loved the fireplace in the dining area and l guess the garden is lovely in better weather. They organised the transfer from and to the port for free: wonderful. The dining room is atmospheric, the service was good, the food nothing special - standard international dishes, little imagination. Good breakfast. I'd like to say that Bursa worth an overnight visit to see a real Turkish town. Make sure you go to Cumalikizik, a well preserved Ottoman village. Take a taxi there, OK to get back with public transport.

Review 123:The access to the hotel was difficult with narrow lanes. The alternative was to park the car in front of the hotel but we had to climb a steep and high staircase to reach the hotel

Review 124:The hotel had a character with excellent facilites

The Fine Print
