Review 1：We stayed one night en route to Te araroa. It was easy to find the hotel. We had prepared food for a BBQ dinner and cooked on one of two bbqs poolside, while our daughter swam. The hotel gave us a BBQ set to cook with which was nice of them. We also bbq'd bacon and eggs the next morning. Nice big outdoor tables. The rooms were very tidy (I actually loved the shiny green retro vanity al a 1972!) clean and organised. Good stay good value felt safe

Review 6：We both whacked our legs walking past the bed a few times. The legs are deceiving. Maybe the distance from the town, not really far but a bit of a walk. But there is all you need in the local area.

Review 7：Great host. Gave good information about the local area. Most hosts just give you the key and away you go but he was a great fella. Place had a nice feel about it because of the hosts. The cost was very good. Of all the places on our 2 week road trip, this was by far the cheapest. Really liked the place. Oh and the spa bath was great.

Review 14：We were a school group of seven students (aged 14-18) and four adults, using three units. It was an unexpected bonus to offered full use of the commercial kitchen and dining room attached to the motel. This made our stay and catering so much easier!

Review 15：General "kitchen amenities" basic. Having no place to wash dishes after use etc.. The 'unusual' table in the unit (11), gave it a rather shabby look. Because my wife is partially disabled no hand rail in shower a problem. Hard to reach the shower head 'on' and 'off' .

Review 20：The One bathroom, very small for 5 people. The kitchen didn't have a stove top/oven just a hot plate. Coming from the USA we are not used to not having central heat- there was a space heater but didn't really heat both rooms. heated blankets on the kids beds which was nice, otherwise we would have all froze.

Review 25：It didn't have a full kitchenette, but that was okay. There were dishes, an electric kettle, a fridge, dishes, and a microwave, but the only sink was the bathroom sink so we had to wash dishes there. This wasn't a big deal. The room was excellent overall.

Review 56：I did not feel very safe as all the windows at ground level opened out so that any vaguely athletic criminal could get inside. This made sleeping with a windows open a security risk. The fridge was so noisy that I had to get up and turn it off. Bed and pillows were a bit tired.

No towel rail in bathroom, just one hook.Didn't like the way the toilet & bthrm doors opened up into thesmall bathroom area - toilet door should probably be a sliding door.Windows need security latches as they open right out (neighbouringproperty can see you in the bathroom / toilet).....and main entrancedoor needs a security bolt also (for peace of mind).

Review 70：Dave, the host, was a lovely chap. When he learned of our motorcycle tour destination, he lent us a book on that area (Hgwy 35). Also, rooms were immaculate with concrete walls separating them.

Review 71：The owners at the Cortez went over and above to accommodate our extended family. They made arrangements for us that far exceeded the normal expectation of hosts and ensured our whole family had a comfortable and enjoyable stay together. The weather was so hot the pool was a god-send for cooling off grumpy teenagers and tiring out a busy toddler. We will definitely stay here again because the people made it a 5 star accommodation stay! Much appreciated

Review 72：Arches inside the room were a nuisance for viewing TV or having conversation. Tub chair squeaked badly. The only sink to wash dishes in was the shallow bathroom sink. Very hot at night -no air con (only portable fan)- would have been happy with open windows if locks were added.

Review 78：This not a modern motel but it is immaculately clean and all we needed for a weekend. The hosts and staff are delightful and were incredibly helpful and accommodating. It is quite a social, friendly place with its central courtyard and pool. Supermarket and takeaway places were not too far away and the Hub is close buy too. We had a super time and will certainly return to the Cortez.
