Reviews for Hotel Terrace
Review 1:Staff had little knowledge on current slope and cross county skiing conditions. They even provided wrong information instead of admitting that they did not have a clue.. Typical problem with german-speaking service "professionals".
Review 2:Poor staff communication possibly leading to breach of trust between customer and the hotel .intentional or poor advice to customers for financial gains . Inadequate sound barrier between the rooms particularly roomm111 and room next to it You could here everything including snoring
Review 3:Location Catering Wellness
Review 4:I didn't like the 4 pm check in time especially when check out is 11 am. The 3 course dinner was slightly boring. A gym could be added to the facilities and the games room was really tired (table tennis nets damaged).
Review 5:I liked the location and the size of the rooms. Breakfast included really made it value for money. The porticos bar and lounge was really superb
Review 6:The room is clean, front office staff and f&b staff are helpful. The location is a bit far but it is so convenient to reach the hotel. Breakfast is good. The view is fantastic. Never see much China or Indian group as mentioned by others in tripadvisor. The price is reasonable during this super peak period. Do not hesitate to book because very easy to find the hotel.
Review 7:Dinner buffet was not good and was very costly. Not a value for money. Breakfast was also not good.
Review 8:Excellent location. Staff is friendly. Overall nice place to stay in.
Review 9:The furniture old and scratched - cleaning staff running around at 7am and being really loud - no isolation betWeen the rooms had some loud neighbourg and it was not Nice at all - bathroom from the 60's - staff being really picky that it becomes ridiculous - neighbourg smoking weed all night and having the smell in my room!
Review 10:The location
Review 11:- even superior room was not really big or nice. Sink in the room (not in the bathroom), - very accoustic (we could hear loudly people walking above), - internet in the room was very unstable, almost unusable for professional purpose (uploading some media, making skype calls). - very hard mattress in bed, our back hurt after each night - no power sockets next to the bed and overall not enough sockets in the room - expensive
Review 12:nice view, good location, pretty old building, impressive lobby, big parking with elevator to the hotel
Review 13:Directions tough to manage on GPS. We took one wrong turn and went to a desolate top of the mountain 4 km away at 9 in the night.
Review 14:Awesome location. Cannot be any better. Food was good, a bit Indian, so even better. Regret not studying there longer.
Review 15:The hotel had a big restaurant but was reseved exclusively for groups. We were not made aware of this in advance. A very heavy snowfall meant couldn't travel to the village for any food and had to sleep at night with empty stomach. For such a big hotel would have definitely expected them to prepare at least some quick food considering the situation. Was on honeymoon trip and booked a double bed room. But was disappointed to get a twin bed with single individual blankets
Review 16:A nice heritage hotel maintaining the old world charm to some extent. We had a room with balcony overlooking the village and mountains. However bad weather meant there was no view of the mountains.
Review 17:Extremely uncomfortable beds. Very hard. I had assumed we would get a double not 2 single beds pushed together. No facilities for making tea or coffee
Review 18:Staff mostly very friendly. Lovely view from room. Very nice Art Deco details in public areas.
Review 19:The Wi-Fi was terrible and the bed wasn't very comfortable. Also, why did the room not have a bathtub?
Review 20:Terrace Hotel has all the makings of a great Alpine hotel, especially the staff. Daniel the server/bartender was a total rockstar (and a total babe). The receptionist who checked us out was also a charmer.
Review 21:Really bad temperature regulation in room, to hot in the night and freezing in the morning. Really bad WiFi, could harldy connect and disconnecting all the time.
Review 22:I made a search for 4 person two rooms and got two double rooms. They were put as a single use at the end. when one more person came into room was a double price. For 200 CHF for a noisy room, breakfast was poor, coffee bad. Saunas and elevators too little for such a big hotel. Bad service. Will never go again.Maybe as a big hotel one has monopole and not taking it customers well but granted
Review 23:The fact that every guest had to sign a document and provide copy of their ID's.
Review 24:We liked the appearance of the hotel and the tunnel and lift system leading to the centre of town.
Review 25:Hot Breakfast was a bit limited. Luke warm scrambled egg and bacon every day but plenty of colder options. Buffet diner excellent value but limited choice
Review 26:Value for money. Lovely mountain view. Easy access to village /train station. Very helpful and friendly staff. Pleasant lounge area.
Review 27:Where should I start?? - They didn't give me the room I booked and didn't even try to fix the situation once it was clear what was happening. - The room was very cold (no proper isolation), which was not comfortable at all with a 3 months old baby. - The amenities at the room clearly had finished their life-cycle and was extremely worn out. - The tap was dripping water. - It took 2 days and a formal booking.com inquiry finally a staff stopped finding excuses and properly apologised for our bad experience.
Review 28:Architecture
Review 29:1. Not confortable bad - imposible to take rest. 2. Small room, smal bad touching wall from 2 sides. 3. Noisyyyy hotel, walls not accustic. 4. Aircondition central on tarrase, making a lot of noise. Why pay extra for balcony if this noise and you can't use it! 5. Everything very old, even not tiles in batgroom! 6. Not for this price.
Review 30:View, position of hotel
Review 31:Facilities are older and show signs of wear. At least in the off season, there is no food available after breakfast.
Review 32:Amazing view, great breakfast, staff that is just falling over itself to please the customer. They have an elevator that takes you all the way into town.
Review 33:the ski resort hasn't been open yet...
Review 34:Really recommend it !! Staffs at the reception are helpful, well, also handsome~~ ^^ Enjoyed the mountain view in room and restaurant. Best croissant I've tried during my travel in Germany.
Review 35:no tea making facilities
Review 36:the hotel is quite old...but I like the old charm the hotel bring to her guest...the view from guest is superb..really felt sad to leave
Review 37:They have a discotheque on the second floor and the music can be quite loud and bothersome if you want to catch a good night's sleep.
Review 38:The hotel is very close to the railway station which made it very convenient for us to get in and out of Engelberg. Also, the room was very spacious, clean and offered a fantastic view of Mt. Titlis. They offer an Indian and international buffet which is impressive. Overall, good value for the money you spend.
Review 39:In the summer season....only indian food available for lunch n dinner.
Review 40:Friendly associates.d excellent value for money with top location and a great view.
Review 41:WiFi could have been better but not much issue.. The breakfast staff were behaving as if they have been forced to be there..
Review 42:Location - thanks to the hotel, I got a mountain view room.. The room was fab and so are the views from the balcony. Choice of Indian or Continental breakfast - though the variety of Indian breakfast was less, but it was still good to have this as an option. Heritage looks of the hotel The hospitality I received at Reception. Both the ladies I met were great and a lot accomodating.
Review 43:Poor breakfast
Review 44:Nice balcony with a view over the Alps. Room size is ok, but the whole hotel looks a bit outdated which is typical for Alpine Swidzeland not very expensive hotels.
Review 45:Reaching hotel terrace was very very hard. It would have helped if you had larger sign boards directing us to the place. Navigation device could not locate hotel terrace.
Review 46:Gut nice people super bar
Review 47:Bed was hard
Review 48:Awful room with awful price
Review 49:Food was horrible Breakfast not eatable Had to ask for normal bread and boffeec
Review 50:Price ok
Review 51:Staff is not that courteous. Expensive for the service and comfort of room.
Review 52:In a brilliant location and you can get a view of Alps from balcony...
Review 53:Verry helpfull staff, nice view, nice big rooms
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:Everything
Review 56:Nothing.
Review 57:Value for money. Nice location and decent rooms.
Review 58:I will definitely be back & will highly recommend this to all of my friends.
Review 59:Character of hotel, location, views, staff.
Review 60:The hotel is in the fantastic location and the view to the mountain and city is excellent from the room view
Review 61:not clean-enough floor insufficient wifi
Review 62:prefect view of Mt Titlis fun entrance classic decoration of main hall friendly staff
Review 63:Hotel is in nice location, we can see complete city view and hotel staffs are friendly
Review 64:Old style rooms
Review 65:Location, room size,in the lap of nature
Review 66:location
Review 67:Squeeky room floor and cheaply renovated bathroom (raw wood ceiling and pvc floor and shower walls ? :(
Review 68:Very friendly staff and service. Great view!
Review 69:Would be benefit from a decoration overhaul in the dining hall (conference chair give a cheap look to the hotel which must once upon a time have been "grand"; hotel seems to cater for groups and package deals which leave the individual customer feeling a bit cheated for the value for money.
Review 70:Friendly waitress at the breakfast and dinner; interesting access via a tunnel and lift which connects to teh centre of the village.
Review 71:Bathrooms a bit dated - could do with a revamp.
Review 72:Good hillside location (commanding views) with a tunnel and lift directly into town. We used a car to get to ski lift - the walk and bus might have been a bit of a drag.
Review 73:The price was far to high for the accommodation offered (plastic 70s shower, bathroom 30 years old etc.) Food buffet was overpriced for what was on offer
Review 74:Massive entrance hall and breakfast area location and view Breakfast selection Free wifi and steam room (with tea and fruit) Cable TV! (loads of international chanels) staff responsive to requests (adaptor, early check in, etc)
Review 75:rooms quite small compared to the hall, but still ok
Review 76:- too small rooms - staff at reception not too welcoming. - hot dishes @ breakfast missing.
Review 77:- superb location (view) - tunnel , private lift right upto city centre
Review 78:Reception quite slow with check in/out and Keys procedures.
Review 79:Wonderful position, with a lovely view over the town and lifts to reach the center in few minutes.
Review 80:It was nice location to stay, felt bad that we shifted to other hotel on top of mountain Truebsee. We would have stayed 2 nights in this hotel it self. Its excellent hotel for Indian tourists,
Review 81:The room was clearly not designed as a guest room and converted to a bedroom in a rather unprofessional fashion.
Review 82:All was very good! ... even desipte a minor disappointment with the room.
Review 83:Bathrooms and furniture a bit dated. But comfortable and clean overall.
Review 84:Fantastic views from the hotel, very comfortable to reach from downtown (Lift service). Reasonable price, beautiful Art Nouveau building inside and out.
Review 85:The concrete block extension wing on the side of the hotel looks terrible and completely out of place. Limited entertainment in the "Games" room. A pool table in very poor condition and not worth paying for and a table football that was temperamental a reception had some other games though. Lugging skis from the bus, across a park then through two tunnels and lifts would get very tedious if staying for more than a weekend - it is manageable though and faster than the old trains that used to ferry you up.
Review 86:Staff were great with my 5 year old son. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town swimming pool - a bonus as children's entertainment at the hotel is limited (the kids club was not running when we were there). The rooms are basic but very clean and well maintained and the breakfast and evening buffet were fabulous.
Review 87:Unhelpful staff due to lack of training and very noisy due to children running up and down stairs and along corridors as they please.
Review 88:Close to ski slopes
Review 89:The bathroom was clean, but very small and old. I would have loved to use the spa, but the short opening hours didn't allow this as we were then going for dinner
Review 90:The price for a standard dbl room reasonable. Very practical with the tunnel lift to get to and from the centre.
Review 91:We did not stay on the all inclusive option and it felt at times like we were "Additional Guests" not hotel guests
Review 92:Good access to town and the Ski areas
Review 93:There is no modernization going on in the hotel and the stuff is not very friendly. It is very much as the Terrace is run based on its location and history, but nothing is invested into the present
Review 94:The smoking lounge with the bar and the location
Review 95:Hotel Terrace has a nice disco at the basement playing music from 9.00pmup to > midnight. Our room was located at the 3rd floor. In the night,we could hear the music. But the music itself was not so loud and so notthe most disturbing. Most annoying were the peoples in the discoshouting loudly.
Review 96:We loved the style of this former palace. Its own style make hotelTerrace a very enjoyable place to stay. For 3 of us, the room wasreally spacious, clean, with comfortable beds and with a beautiful viewon the mountains. Nothing to had on the breakfast buffet : just Great !We strongly recommend this place and we will be back there for sure.Just book it !
Review 97:Value/Money - it is way too expensive for the services that it offers. We've paid 170CHF/ per night for a double bed room (breakfast included) and the rooms don't look that great. Actually they are as ordinary as one can get. They do have an extraordinary view, but still it is way too overpriced.
Review 98:The rooms are really oldstyle and has probably not been renovated the last 30 years or so. A facelift is needed but most of all the rock hard and 70 cm wide beds has passed their due date a long time ago.
Review 99:Great breakfast bufé and free Internet access (wifi). Hotelstaff are kind and rather service minded. Rooms are pretty well cleaned.
Review 100:The economy room was very dated and smelt of cigarrette smoke. Thecorridors were noisy and the door did not close properly. The window wasdangerous and the carpet heavily stained.
Review 101:The public areas were very nice and the breakfast was excellant, we alsohad wonderful mountain view, this was from a standard room.
Review 102:Standard room (new build area) view and noise of the elevator
Review 103:Tunnel system to the town was very novel and useful. Terrace area was relaxing. Breakfast was excellent
Review 104:Don't expect luxury, the hotel has faded somewhat from its halcyon days(although the rooms are perfectly functional and clean) however the walls are a bit thin.
Review 105:Good location, very friendly staff, an absolutely stunning view (I posted it on facebook it was that good), and a very reasonable price everything considered.
Review 106:I had been concerned with some negative feedback about the hotel, but Ifound the Terrace to be an absolute pleasure. Affordable fun in themountains of angels. The breakfast was fantastic, and the view was spectacular. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. I would not consider staying at any other hotel, as the price was also an important factor. Thank you so much Hotel Terrace for making our yearly vacation so enjoyable. With love from Asia to our Swiss friends.
Review 107:A bit out of the way of the ski slopes, meaning you need to walk a fair bit to the free bus to the slopes. They have a disco which plays doof-doof music until the last person leaves - when we were there it lasted until close to 4am - no sleep for us in room 201.
Review 108:Large, sunny room with a view (room 201). Modern hotel, room was in a good state, bathroom was wonderful. Breakfast was great - a good, varied spread of both continental and some British / US components. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 109:Not really a continental breakfast, just variety of salty food. The Spawas small but nice. The problem was that everyone were naked.
Review 110:Hotel Terrace has a good location and has a beautiful view, very goodquality and price.
Review 111:I got a superior plus room for 3 people in early january. The room wasconfortable, big, clean, and well equipped. Amazing view. However, therewas no locker in the room. Central location and delicious breakfast.Helpful staff. Surprisingly the hotel was not very crowded and I didn'tsee any tourist group there. Neverheless, the hotel is old and there arecarpets everywhere, so not recommended at all for alergic people - thatis not my case. To me the downside of this hotel was the noise from thedisco located at the first floor.
Review 112:I got a superior room for 3 people and the view from the rowas amazing. The room was confortable, clean, and well equipped. However, there wasno locker in the room. Central location and good breakfast. The hotelwas not very crowded and most of the tourists seemed to be young swisscouples and family. The downside was the noise at night from the discoat the first floor.
Review 113:wc hotel elevator
Review 114:Spa room excl wc Breakfast
Review 115:Very pleasant and helpful reception staff. Excellent location. Charming atmosphere.
Review 116:Good breakfast Comfy bed Hot shower
Review 117:The price of the meals
Review 118:Friendliness of the staff, large & clean rooms, location and activities offered by the hotel
Review 119:Sauna Room Bed Breakfast Elevator
Review 120:Rooms are so tired they`re dead..
Review 121:Lobby, views for bar...
Review 122:very clean, rooms a bit basic but comfortable, wellness very good, town easily accessible would stay there again, staff very nice
Review 123:The view from this hotel had to be the best one in the town.
Review 124:Loud disco in cellar, rooms run-down
Review 125:good breakfast
