Reviews for Hotel Bristol

Review 1:We had no hot water for the shower, the breakfast was not really good and people were smoking in the hall. This hotel did not age well

Review 2:The view fron the room with a balcony overlooking the sea and the car park

Review 3:very simple room, old decoration, bad acoustics, below average breakfast, bathroom needs major renovation

Review 4:location and view to the sea, if you pay extra

Review 5:We booked the hotel because of access to pool and roof terrace, but it was dirty and closed down for the season (despite of great weather condition). No information is given about this on the hotels website and the price doesn't represent the lack of access to these facilities. Furthermore our balcony was dirty and the floor in our room was too. The staff didn't care and suddenly they didn't understand a word in english. We were informed that breakfast was served at the roof terrace, but instead it was served in the lobby. Facilities, conditions and standards doesn't match the information given on website. Don't use the four stars as a guide line in this case!

Review 6:Loved the view and big glass doors that opened to a huge patio! Breakfast was ok nothing to write home about. Suggest eating dinner off site. Hotel is built into the cliffs so it is a hike up hill to town. Beds were firm, room large. Air worked real good.

Review 7:We enjoyed our stay at The Bristol, the beds was comfortable, the sea view was delightful the patio was lovely and parking was easy. Most of all we enjoyed our dinner at the Panoramic hotel. We had delicious grilled seafood and enjoyed the lovely breeze from the sea. The restaurant manger was wonderful and made excellent suggestions for a local wine. We only stayed one night there but it was memorable.

Review 8:Staff was not flexible: they gave us imprecise direction to reach the hotel overnight and refused to open a gate for a secondary entrance thus obliging us to go around the village and it's one way road before finding the main gate. The glass of the shower risks falling on you

Review 9:Location and view from room and terrace

Review 10:Poor service from staff during the day,non existent whilst using the pool facilities View of shipping harbour to the left of hotel Rear entrance access is possible but we were not even offered assistance with our bags,no luggage porter or assistance when arriving or departing

Review 11:Pool Well located for access to town, restaraunts etc... Quiet area of town off main roads Good access to local beaches and public transport

Review 12:pool, not cleaned properly, only 3 sunloungers (one of them was cracked), poor breakfast, I advised the hotel that I was gluten intolerant, they had a gf bread roll (which to be fair was very good), but for only for 4 of my 7 days. Luckily I always .travel with some for emergencies.

Review 13:the view from the balcony

Review 14:Not much verity for breakfast though when asked to provide eggs for the gluten free guest they did that each morning without being asked again!

Review 15:Staff were lovely.

Review 16:Staff were extremely rude. If you don't speak Italian they don'twant to know or help you. Have never stayed anyway like this, where wedidn't feel like guests, more like a burden.......don'trecommend at all.

Review 17:The view from our room and the pool area. It was also Close to walkinto Vietri.

Review 18:Small complaint that breakfast could have been had a better choice, pool closed at 6pm which due to extreme heat wave was too early

Review 19:Fabulous location on the Amalfi coast, wonderful views from dinning and balconies. Vietri town very close within easy walking distance with nice shops and eating places. well worth visiting.

Review 20:What's not to like....even free car parking available.

Review 21:A terrific location with stunning views especially from room balconies and terraces. The food was excellent in hotel restaurant and the staff were equally good and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable.

Review 22:This is not 'bad', I'm just putting my thoughts here. The Bristol is not a Hilton. It is an older hotel in an undiscovered town. We loved it. If you want elegance go to Rome

Review 23:This hotel has a wonderful view. Some have complained about the walk uphill to town. The walk is not bad and well worth having to make for the view.

Review 24:A word of warning. If the hotel is catering for a family function use of the pool and solarium might be restricted.

Review 25:The hotel is located facing south over the sea just a few kilometres west of Salerno. If you have a room with a balcony then you will benefit from this superb view. The staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is provided either at the top of the cliff or in front of the hotel's façade. Rooms are functional rather than elegant but offer all the facilities most people require. Beds are comfortable and balconies are furnished with a table and chairs. The breakfast has a limited range but is adequate.

Review 26:This hotel is in the perfect location with stunning views, close to major tourist spots without the crowds. The staff were most obliging and the food at their rooftop restaurant was excellent and the seafood particularly was very fresh and expertly presented .

Review 27:Nothing works, TV, Fridge, and being Italy it takes forever to get fixed. Two restaurants in the hotel, never open, no menu's only people to use them were the staff.

Review 28:Quiet, small town. Well located for bus to Amalfi and Positano.

Review 29:I wish that there were screens on the windows (same problem throughout Italy) -- the evening sea breeze was beautiful but we had to close the windows and use the AC at night due to mosquitos (summer).

Review 30:Beautiful view of Amalfi Coast and Salerno lights at night. A/C worked great. Convenient location, close to main roads, with free parking -- perfect for having a car. Nice breakfast in the mornings with very helpful waiter and stunning view. Beautiful grounds full of lemon and olive trees, with a nice pool (that we unfortunately did not have time to use). Easy access to the town of Vietri sul Mare and its restaurants and pottery shops.

Review 31:That hotel is far from 4 star places. I would give 2,5 max 3. Nice but nothing special.

Review 32:Location is good.

Review 33:The bed. Too soft.

Review 34:Location

Review 35:Great location, but very, very hard to find it. No signs in the entrance of the city where the hotel is.

Review 36:The pool and the restaurant.

Review 37:Hotel is a bit frayed at the edges

Review 38:Outlook and position

Review 39:Fantastic solarium on the top floor where they cook the food in front of you. It was great food.

Review 40:A lot of traffic just outside the hotel.

Review 41:The view was lovely! The staff and the service too.

Review 42:owner and staff very nice, very helpful. room clean nice view of ocean. Close to everything. Food at restaurant very good.

Review 43:Not very clean, very poor breakfast, small room, expensive

Review 44:Amazing view

Review 45:Location! You must book a room with a balcony!

Review 46:Wedding functions can be noisy

Review 47:Helpful staff, location, clean and well maintained

Review 48:It was wasted money, all of it. Everything was below medium level.

Review 49:The shower in my room

Review 50:The location

Review 51:Poor service

Review 52:Oh dear where do we start, gps will not take you to the front of thisHotel only to the back, when asked how to get to the front I was told bya member of staff to go the wrong way along a one way street as it wasthe easiest way, when I asked him if he ever did this he told me no& refused to help me go through town using the correct roads, stuckin the lift for approx 1/2 hour after it broke down, no apology orexplanation, my travelling companion is claustrophobic & their'couldn't have cared less' attitude didn't go down wellwith her. Breakfast so-so & no good for a diabetic, eat it on thebalcony & watch the sea gulls enjoy it. Lift still broken in themorning which was the only reason they brought up our breakfast to ourroom. I have a serious heart disease & the staff didn't believeme until I nearly fainted as I was trying to take our luggage up to mybike as the lift was still broken, I then got some (begrudging) help, never again just go to another Hotel who actually care about theircustomers.

Review 53:Helpful Restaurant staff

Review 54:Poor choice at breakfast; hotel poorly signposted in town, top car park (and quick access to town) kept locked so a member of staff had to called to let you out - and you'd have to phone the hotel to get some-one to let you in.

Review 55:View, food in restaurant, amiable staff, comfortable.

Review 56:I think the staff must be more tourist-oriented. They didn't know where we could have lunch late, where we could take the bus and they didn't have a map to offer.

Review 57:I like the view and the hotel.

Review 58:Lovely position, very helpful and friendly staff, simple but good breakfast and excellent restaurant service and good food. On site free parking a bonus.

Review 59:A bit expensive for what they offer. Furniture were a bit old. Breakfast were quite poor, just croissant with jam and butter, yogurt and juice.

Review 60:Room was very clean and had a great view! We had the ocean view room on the 4th floor and it was great.

Review 61:Beautiful views of the Amafli coast and Salerno lights. Food was excellent. Staff was excellent. Very relaxing place to stay. We slept with our patio door open and the ocean breeze was amazing. Very quiet and in the center of old part of Salerno. Lots of small shops within walking distance.

Review 62:No fresh bread/pastries the first morning, and 7 euro surcharge foreggs and 5 euro for cheese, etc. at breakfast. Moldy and leaking showerwithout soap shelf. Indifferent attitude of staff, few of whom spokeEnglish. Even with my attempts in basic Italian, the reception staff wasnot very helpful. We were not welcomed when we arrived and were neverasked if we needed anything or if everything was to our liking. No beachtowels nor access to the “private” beach below. (When asked if we shoulduse our room towels, the receptionist looked at us as if to say, “Pleasedon’t, we don’t provide beach towels.”) Poor signage and no bell at theback entrance of the hotel, which is the one you reach if arriving bybus as we did. The “elevator to the center of town” is an elevator tothe top floor of the hotel. From there, it is still a climb and 5-10minute walk to the center of town. The Vietri locals seem to justtolerate tourists and are a bit unfriendly. Agreed with other reviewersthat this hotel should receive a 2.5 star rating, maximum.

Review 63:Location, view, nice private balcony with sitting area. Spacious room.Good air conditioning. One very friendly waiter who spoke English. Nicecleaning lady who made the effort to get a key and unlock the back gatewhen we found ourselves unable to exit the property at 8:45 am. Thetravel information desk in town was very helpful. Take bus 4 or 9 fromthe Salerno train station and exit at the Sollimene factory and thenwalk 10 minutes to the hotel.

Review 64:The location was perfect and the views were stunning. The outdoor/roof-top restaurant was sensational, the food was very reasonably priced and as good as we have had anywhere. the attentive staff, the two Alfonses, were excellent. the fact that we had free off road parking and that they also looked after our car whilst we were on a cruise was an added bonus.

Review 65:Nothing about the hotel - but in general found it very hard to get around the very busy and narrow streets and get to places we wanted to go - also to get snacks and meals during the day

Review 66:We loved the view from our balcony, the room was lovely - very spacious and the pool was safe and clean. Waiter spoke English and was a godsend - very helpful, curteous, and knowledgeable about the area - what buses to catch, when and where. Lovely breakfast and evening meals had.

Review 67:The back gate closed each evening so the walk back to hotel on a busy road. Pool bar rarely opened. Room décor a bit outdated.

Review 68:The view from the hotel's restaurant and garden was gorgeous. Very close to main centre of pretty Vietri if you used the back gate beside the restaurant.

Review 69:This might have been a fancy hotel in the 70s but now it is far away from the price they charge. The room was terrible, the furniture is just disposable, there was no view whatsoever, just a rotten wall. This hotel could use some paint to begin with. Picture frames broken.

Review 70:Close to the beach.

Review 71:Great hotel in a picturesque location. The views are absolutely unbelievable. The staff is friendly and the food in the hotel restaurant is incredible.

Review 72:Hotel Bristol and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. As a mother and daughter traveling together we were treated with great respect. The hotel overlooks a beautiful section of the Amalfi coastline! The food at the restaurant was wonderful and fresh - the pool clean with breath taking views! The hotel owner and his boys were thoughtful and informative regarding the area and culture. Thank you! Vietri is very quaint area. Just remember to bring some cash as many of the stores/restaurants do not take credit cards. Not really a problem, though. Bus trip along coastline to Amlfi was spectacular and a must! The staff at hotel Bristol will assist you- be sure to make friends with Alfonso who works as a waiter. He speaks very good English too. This was helpful to us as our Italian was non existent!

Review 73:No Internet connection ib the rooms

Review 74:Very good hotel in a charming small town, view to the sea from the room terrace, close to the beach, easy to travel to sightseengs

Review 75:Ascensor muy pequeño, único se pierde mucho tiempo esperando. El desayuno es pobre los jugos exprimidos deben ser reservados el día anterior y te lo cobran.

Review 76:Getting tired and only 1 staffer speaks English, luckly one spoke someFrench. Is a large 3 star now but good value

Review 77:Great views, balcony, big rm etc

Review 78:Staff somewhat disinterested or something. Perhaps nervous about interacting because most don't speak any English. Hotel has seen better days but has fabulous potential: location, views, large solarium.

Review 79:wonderful, huge deck overlooking the Mediterranean. Largish room. Parking.

Review 80:The view is absolutely amazing!! The hotel owns several big terrances as well, where you can enjoy the beautiful see view as in your balcony, with slightly different view angles.

Review 81:Very small bedroom(balcony was bigger) with no room for suitcases. Pokey bathroom would mouldy shower recess - not really enough room for one person. Reception staff were indifferent, polite but unhelpful.

Review 82:Nice balcony with excellent views. Good pool and breakfast area. Friendly waiter at breakfast.

Review 83:It is not a four star hotel as mentioned on the booking.com website.Hotel Bristol has only three stars. It absolutely does not deserve fourstars. Breakfast is very basic, with no fresh coffee. On the website isstated that the hotel has a private beach. This is not true. There is apublic beach 100m away, where you have to pay to get in. The hotel issituated next to the busy port of Salerno. You can't see this on thenice pictures of the website. The view is a busy industrial harbor.

Review 84:The view from our room and the restaurant on the roof top over the Amalfi coast is breathtaking and compensates for the relative difficulty in accessing the hotel through the busy town of beautiful Vietri by own car. Management and staff were extremely helpful in leading us to their large parking lot. Food and service were excellent, but the best of all: the at all times pleasant interaction with the Italian people. Grazie mille.

Review 85:The hotel was not able to provide a travel cot for our 6 month old baby.

Review 86:Gardens are lovely and the breakfast/restaurant area at the top of the hotel are a nice feature.

Review 87:Outstanding location. Quiet and right on the cliffs overlooking the sea.Very close access to the autostrada. Staff were excellent. For thelocation , this hotel offers excellent value for money.

Review 88:too far from the city center. they dont have adapter for electric plug

Review 89:nice for holidays

Review 90:location - next to the sea. Near a town and the Amalfi coast

Review 91:Very friendly, great sea views and giant balcony. Great place to spend a night

Review 92:It is quite old...

Review 93:Value for money, view

Review 94:It was off season and so we had the Restaurant to ourselves. Great views, balcony and nice room.

Review 95:We loved the view from our balcony, the room was lovely and clean

Review 96:pool side bar not always staffed.not enough sun beds

Review 97:hotel position overlooking the bay.nice size pool area and sun deck

Review 98:No wifi in the rooms. Boring breakfast.

Review 99:Kind staff, beautyful view, nice neigbourghood, very clean and quite.

Review 100:A contradiction between maintaining standards and the need for money to be spent on renovations. Never the less an enjoyable experience.

Review 101:It rained but we still enjoyed our time

Review 102:Vieti is a beautiful place

Review 103:Perfect quality in service and facilities, close to the beach, marvelous view; special complements to the reastaurants chef

Review 104:Swimming pool closes too early at 6pm.

Review 105:Excellent views. They try to provide you with any special requests.
