Reviews for Hotel Polonia Centrum

Review 1:The staff were particularly helpful and couldn't do enough to help. The hotel is in a good spot not too far from the main attractions, and the rooms are enormous! Plenty of space, very well kept, clean - we would go back.

Review 2:Our room faced the main road where the tram ran very regularly and were just fortunate our daughter travels with ear plugs. The neon sign from the cinema or whatever it is across the road flashes from blue to red to white all day and almost all night - a trifle annoying as the curtains are quite thin

Review 3:The accommodation is great value for money - our room didn't have the 3rd bed in it and in a flash our room was changed to one with two bedrooms - great service. The breakfast is excellent

Review 4:Everything was perfect, convenient place near the railway station , very hospitable girl at reception( Mariana as I can remember). And the kitchen - very tasty food. Highly recommend

Review 5:I paid 30 zloties each day for dinner expecting to be provided with a set menu to choose from. Instead I was told that 30 zl would be deducted from the a la carte menu choices.Although the food was excellent, I was committed to eat in their restaurant for no financial gain. I did complain about this and all I got was shrugged shoulders.

Review 6:I have stayed before and its location is excellent for the 406 bus from the airport as well as the main railway station The breakfast is good and the view from my room's mini balcony of the trams and railway line suited me perfectly!

Review 7:The rom where not clean. It was alot of dust om the floor. Under the bed was awfull. A lot of dust. Cold in bathroom.

Review 8:Good beds, friendly and helpfull staff. The breakfast tasted good.

Review 9:liked the location, near the train and bus stations. Helpfullness of the staff, loved the restaurant where you have breakfast, tho breakfast itself lacked a little. would appreciate more fruit options. Considering the price though the overall package is great value for a euro traveller.

Review 10:The location was great. The parking lot is not right at the hotel but easy to find with instructions from the front desk. The breakfast was fine, the rooms were clean and comfortable, based on the price. Would definitely stay again.

Review 11:Asked for teas made in room but was not provided had to resort to rum&coke!!!(but wont complain)

Review 12:Knew hotel from last time I stayed there so no problem finding it again. This time had room overlooking central courtyard, very quiet Shower in room was very small, just about done as I'm built like a greyhound anyway. Same breakfast as last time basic but plenty to eat...Will return there again...

Review 13:Some more plug sockets in the room would be useful. Breakfast could have a toaster for the bread.

Review 14:Good value for money, you get what you pay for, comfortable, cheap, clean. breakfast included is a bonus compared to other hotel prices

Review 15:the noise of the tram , you can not sleep well since the hotel is directly in front of the tram station . there is no mini bar . bad bed quality .

Review 16:the situation is so near from the city center. the staff is so friendly , helpful and they have a good English level .

Review 17:Our room wasn't cleaned between nights. The room itself was quite old and used. Walls were dirty in many places. Lights outside didn't let us sleep and that was impossible to get rid of them did to short curtains. Breakfast was quite poor, coffee machine was broken.

Review 18:Almost nothing to be honest.

Review 19:Curtains didn't cover the window,.poor quality food at breakfast, long queues at breakfast.Dim corridors, Room wasn't cleaned properly and not hoovered in a week long stay.Photos of the breakfast buffet did not reflect it as it was. Hotel porter was nice though!

Review 20:Good WiFi, comfy bed

Review 21:For breakfast you have to go to other building, walk outside, its only a few steps but i dont think it is nice in winter.

Review 22:It is about 5min walk from train station, nice location and nice view in the morning(street side).

Review 23:This has to be one of the grottiest hotels in Wroclaw, lack of maintenance has driven this old communist era hotel in to the pits, the corridors are reminiscent of the Jack Nicholson movie The Shining, truly it is that bad. I would probably give this hotel a 1 star, where the 3 stars comes from is a complete mystery. Avoid at all costs or stay and be disappointed.

Review 24:Close to the old town square

Review 25:i complained about wifi to the receptionist on duty but she said it worked on her mobile but on my i pad it was not connecting.(in all wifi spots around town it was perfect ) When i booked d hotel pics of hotel were misleading ....the corridor is a nightmare only 1 old lift in hotel .i asked for room facing the street but was given a room (actually 2 rooms connecting )both had a backyard window the bedroom one facing a tall wall seeing nothing the bathroom had an extractor that didnt work so the room had a bad smell and of course no window .The breakfast was poor nothing you see in the pics .A very bad experience never to go again to this hotel.

Review 26:that it was near train station and centre. the room service is good .a receptionist called Hanna was very helpful and friendly spoke good english and showed us on map a place we wanted to see gave us perfect directions .was happy when she was on duty .

Review 27:Too expensive by Polish standard, but Wroclaw is generally more expensive than the rest of the country. Breakfast could be more healthy=)

Review 28:Close to the train station, basic comfort. Good Wi-Fi

Review 29:There's a tram line that runs along the main streets of Wroclaw,, and the noise from them is a wee bit of a shock, at first, but we did get used to it.

Review 30:helpful and cheerful staff with a good choice of meats, cheese, cereals, etc! The hotel was in a good, central location, close to the railway station and bus station too.

Review 31:I have stayed here several times. This time they failed to honour my specific request to be in a room at the very back of the hotel. We were on the courtyard in the centre of the hotel, and once again suffered til midnight + from the noisiness of people in the courtyard. If, in the future, they cannot meet this request, I am done with them! (I will work this out with them by telephone, well before my visit.)

Review 32:There was a strong musty smell through the corridors with rather austere wallpaper and moderately stained brown carpet and rather dim lighting. The impression I got from this is that Hotel Polonia is a former Communist-era building but wonder why reminders of the frugality and austerity of that time still remain, which I understand but appreciate that while budgets may be tight, the interior of the building does need to be brightened up. That said, it was still excellent value for money at zl268 (app €76) for two nights

Review 33:Ideally located for public transport or within walking distance to Old Town, and just down the street from the central railway station. The room itself was bright, clean and pleasant and excellent value for money.

Review 34:The hallways looked grubby and unsightly - which was underwhelming and lessened the quality of the hotel. Reported that my room phone wasn't working, it didn't get fixed during my five day stay. The wifi would occasionally cut out. First night, dogs where barking in room opposite.

Review 35:Perfect location, tram line is literally at the front door, including travel ticket booth. 10 minute walk away from Main Square. All room essentials where provided. And room was clean. All of the staff are very friendly.

Review 36:Towels had holes in, bed was uncomfortable.

Review 37:This is a real you get what you pay for, no frills and a bed, very good location for heading in to he city though.

Review 38:Depresive retains of past ages. Hotel need redecoration. New windows and bathroom are accompanied with depresively old and stinking courtains, blankets and carpet. Everything smells on old smoking ages. Breakfast with worm juice, margarine, ... Security guard on entrence check are you right person to aproach to such food paradise! We wee happy to leave after one night. Surrounding is also mostly soc realism.

Review 39:Room was spacy and bathroom was clean.

Review 40:Unfortunately on a hot summers evening the only way to be a little cool was to have the windows open. This meant we were susceptible to insect bites and the incredibly noisy trams which started about 5am.

Review 41:Very close to the Railway Station which was as we wished.

Review 42:In my room WiFi signal was very poor. I know that during weekend problem was caused by provider, but when this was solved WiFi was still very bad.

Review 43:Good location, 10 mins from railway station, 10 mins to city centre however still very quiet.

Review 44:Very old fashioned, communist era. Scratched paintwork, stained carpets, peeling wallpaper. Unfriendly, unwelcoming staff (except for the security guard)

Review 45:notning

Review 46:The hotel in general, all the furniture and decor are very old and unfresh. The hotel charges for private parking even though it is possible to find a spot in the street, closer to the hotel for a similar, if not even smaller amount of money (it's free during evenings and at night).

Review 47:The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. The hotel has a certain communist era charm to it.

Review 48:Carpet in hallways don't look very good good in the hallways, dried stains,

Review 49:Staff helpful, location central, Breakfast was good, Asked to change room from front to one on the rear, this was sorted in minutes, no problem, very good And helpful.

Review 50:The floor covering in hallway and rooms need replacing.Even constant vacuming dos not improve the look......

Review 51:The convenient location to all interesting places.

Review 52:staff are not helpful had a problem trying to get a key for our room for our friend who came back to the hotel before us they did not want to leave him in to the room,

Review 53:a very poor hotel I would advise people not to stay here.

Review 54:Convenient location - within walking distance (10 minutes) from the train station, which was a decisive factor due to my late arrival and early departure.

Review 55:Almost nothing.

Review 56:The location of the hotel is so good that you can reach every meeting point on foot easily, and all important tram lines just pass before the hotel. In addition, I really love the staff. They are so kind and helpful. They do everything to make you feel safe and comfortable.

Review 57:The rooms are old and not in a premium condition- but then again we paidfar below premium, so we were very happy with our choice.

Review 58:Wifi is perfect, no redialing on mobile devices. The room was veryspacious, we had two full rooms for ourselves, a nice desk to write uponand even an additional sleeping spot on the couch. Service is veryhelpful after communication barrier was overcome- english works best, even as a german. The breakfast was plenty: buffet with pancakes andcold salads - awesome! You can cut down on two meals a day without anyhassle with this service!

Review 59:This is a 3* hotel, but seems that those stars were given to this property years ago. It is almost 2* now (definately not 3*), but with some refreshing that is on quite soon should have a propper 3* standard. So give them a try in 2016.

Review 60:perfect location

Review 61:Accessibility for the room in hotel from lift or staircase required a long walk!

Review 62:Clean and tidy room. Bathroom was quite big. Clean towels and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was good too.

Review 63:Breakfast limit of food displayed, such as no toaster to make toast, or yogurts or any fruits (except apples). Room not thoroughly cleaned. Not enough light in room and only one bin in room (which was in the bathroom). Telephone does not work. Heating cannot be regulated internally.

Review 64:Staff where friendly and assisted where necessary. Close to Center

Review 65:The room quality was not of a good standard. The carpets were not vacuumed. There was dust found everywhere. If you stayed for more than a day, the room was not cleaned yet towels were changed.

Review 66:Staff were accommodating

Review 67:I got say my only problem was the noise of the trams from the street, which made it difficult to sleep at times.

Review 68:The staff on reception very good & booked a taxi back to airport. TV stopped working in room, but was soon fixed, any problems soon dealt with.

Review 69:Wifi is stoneage. Neighbourhood is seedy, but 5 mins from the old district. Website lies about bath. Decor is old, worn, charming sort of.

Review 70:The building has an ancient charm to it. Breakfast is great. Good water pressure. Ok value for money, pretty good location, but nothing too special.

Review 71:Let see,.....next time I'll request room facing the back yard, the tram was quite loud.

Review 72:Everything. Central location, friendly staff, lift, excellent breakfast buffet, 24/7 reception...

Review 73:Interior needs a little updating. People in the reseption could say hello to clients.

Review 74:Rooms were clean, breakfast was ok and price was good. Rooms were silent.

Review 75:Booked two triple and two quadruple rooms! Got one quadruple and four double rooms leaving us to put 3 people into one bed! Highly uncomfortable for that room, staff only spoke good English when it suited them. Did not get value for money given we didn't get the beds that we paid for.. And hotel did not notify me of the room changes! I had booked months in advance so I don't understand why my rooms were not available to me and were given to people who booked a week ago.

Review 76:Location very close to market square.. 10 minute walk.. Shopping centre across the road!

Review 77:Found a used water bottle under the bed and seems the beds/furniture hadn't been moved for cleaning underneath. Place needs a refurb.Carpet in the corridor was ripped in a couple of places. My room badly needed more mains points .. there were none by the bed! TV remote didn't work.

Review 78:Nice, polite, helpful staff. Convenient location. Good wi-fi. Ok breakfast in characterful old restaurant.

Review 79:Some confusion in booking taxis and tried to say this was our fault, which it was not

Review 80:Cheap, cheerful and seemed willing to put up with a group of lads

Review 81:The corridors look rather worn and old and good use some paint and renovating. The coffee at breakfast is rather awful, although breakfast itself is great. And groups of British boys and girls on a stag or hen weekend should be banned from the hotel, and from every hotel around Europe for that matter.

Review 82:The hotel is an old characteristic building which has been partly renovated. The rooms are spotless and the location is greatm very near the railway station and the bus to the airport. Breakfast in a atmospheric diningroom is great.

Review 83:Like it for spacious rooms and it's old feel about the hotel ,and friendly staff. The breakfast is buffet style and plenty to choose from and the room was great value for money

Review 84:I had a room near the elevator and the noise of it going up and down, door opening/closing was hard to sleep. These rooms and the street facing ones need to be soundproofed. More plug sockets in the room would be nice.

Review 85:Location is good and safe - a few minutes from train station and 10 minute walk to the centre. rooms are good value for money, clean, spacious, reasonably comfortable beds with free bottles of water, 24 hour reception and english speaking staff. wifi connection is good in most rooms. Breakfast included in the price is a plus compared to the price of other nearby hotels though it gets a bit same-same after a while (i've stayed 7 times at this hotel and it's always the same selection).

Review 86:Just needs a bit of tlc, its a bit dated, but then the prices would probably go up?

Review 87:It was central, comfortable and clean, yet basic, but then the price was basic also, so you get what you paid for. If I was looking for value for money I would stay here again :)

Review 88:Outdated rooms requiring total refurbishment. Asked for non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor but got a room next to the smoking area/corner, therefore what is the point of placing additional requests when booking accommodation? Mouldy shower cubical with no handle for the shower head. Asked for hair dryer, did get it 1 day later instead of the same day. Eating area/restaurant dark and very cold. 1 lift only.

Review 89:Location large room

Review 90:Breakfast was not great and chaotic

Review 91:Really nothing too fancy, but does as advertised - it's a cheap hotel on the edge of the old town with basic but sufficient facilities in the rooms. It can be a bit noisy in the hotel from the lift or outside traffic, but when we asked the staff to change our room they promptly upgraded us.

Review 92:The hotel is located near to the city center and there´s a big shopping center nearby. The staff were kind and always ready to help. We also liked breakfasts which were served in restaurant decorated in Art Noveau style. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back when travelling to Wroclaw next time!

Review 93:The only tiny problem for me was that the courtains were far too small for the windows so couldn't close them, felt like everyobody was watching me.A little noise from the street but it didn;t bother me that much as the uncovered window

Review 94:Everything was great, great location

Review 95:Hotel could use a little updating but is understandable for the age of the building. Slightly lacking on the breakfast, needed a little more variety. A toaster would have been good

Review 96:Easy base for touring the City, close to all attractions everything within walking distance. Friendly staff, large rooms, clean hotel

Review 97:You need to get out from hotel and pass trought the years for getting breakfast, hotel is a bit far from old town

Review 98:Breakfast,receptionist, cleaness Rooms, confortable beds. I like this hotel

Review 99:Entrance to the restaurant through the street (in case of bad weather you should wear coat)

Review 100:Very Good breakfast Very Good beds Hotel is old but with modern furniture Luggage roome is avaliable

Review 101:the drab. dull decor the miserable rooms, the smell and some of the staff. it's a terrible shame that some money wasn't spent on it to bring it back to what it used to be.I woud have gladly spent the extra money if some T.L.C. was injected in to what was once an amazing place to stay

Review 102:the beds were comfortable and clean the restaurant was lovely, with a lot of remnants from it obvious former glory. it was conveniently situated and we found some lovely bars and restaurants close by and built in to the arches of the railway

Review 103:1- The hotel is old in general. 2- Staff are not kind and helpful at all.

Review 104:1- Breakfast was awesome. It is better than the room :). 2- Clean room and bedroom. 3- Location is good. 4- Good value for money.

Review 105:Bathroom could be more taken care of (leaking crane, shower would be more practical than the bathtub... well, fin de siecle...)

Review 106:great location for those travelling by train, very specific fin de siecle ambience, a bit surrealistic, i would love to see this hotel in the condition from 1911! great breakfast, good beds, the noise from the street not too disturbing.

Review 107:Dirty room, smelly and needs to be renovated. Awful breakfast ( if you can call it a breakfast ) , very rude staff and unprofessional. The pictures on the website don't much the actual look of the bedrooms. Beds very uncomfortable, way to high and old blankets, smelly pillows. My head was achy for few days after having spend a night at this hotel honestly, stay away from it, and the price is way too high for what the hotel has got to offer. Located in a rough area, not the best view from the window. What's more, the room was very cold , seemed like the heating didn't work during the day and just a little bit over night. Very small and unpractical bathroom, tiny shower and the soap and shower gels provided were a joke, could hardly foam !!! The worst hotel we've evere stayed in, and will never be back there.

Review 108:We had a room facing Pilsudskogo street, it was very loudly in the room. But we were so tired after walking all day long in Wroclaw, that we almost heard nothing.

Review 109:Very good location. 5 minutes walk from train and bus stations, 10-15 minutes walk to city center. Very good buffet breakfasts. Warm. Nice retro feeling.

Review 110:Showerhead was not working properly but it was not a big issue. Also, breakfast could be boring after some time but for weekend it was ok

Review 111:The main advantage of the hotel is location-close to the station, Capitol Theatre, walking distance to market square. Many cafes around, tram stop is few metres away. Room was quite comfortable and clean. Breakfast was also satisfying

Review 112:Room and bathroom was cold, central heating not hot so used extra blankets in the room. Cold bathroom and shower not that hot.had 'upgraded' room not sure the difference. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room not on the street.

Review 113:Breakfast was good, bed comfortable, good wifi Hotel an institutionalised communist like charm to be experienced at an excellent price. Close to train and walk into the centre.

Review 114:On my second stay the bedroom was at the front of the building opposite the Capitol musical theatre with flashing lights and lots of traffic noise.

Review 115:The hotel is very well located. The continental breakfast was excellent.

Review 116:Very worn and old-fashioned. Wall-to-wall carpets were stained and seemed dirty.

Review 117:Good location, 10 min walk from the square. Nice and helpful staff. Bed are comfortable and clean.

Review 118:All the rest... Internet didn't at all, we were told everyday it will be fixed in 15 minutes! The water was brown, we called the reception who sent us a person who only spoke Polish and didn't fix anything. The room was not cleaned on our second day. The lift had a broken door, so it looked pretty scary... It is described as a 3 star hotel but I wouldn't even give 1.

Review 119:The breakfast,

Review 120:For those who travel by train and want to stay in the city center the location is just PERFECT. I've been in better hotels but for this price I think it's ok, and the breakfast is very nice.

Review 121:Stains on carpets are a bit gross (make sure you some slippers). The bathroom sink didnt drain quickly then I removed some paper which was blocking it. I've stayed on 3 different occasions and while i found the breakfast to be decent the first few times it would be nice to have some variety in the selection provided e.g. croissants instead of pancakes, bacon instead of frankfurters, honey instead of jam, apple instead of orange juice. There is no toaster to toast bread, and the coffee from the nescafe coffee machine

Review 122:The room was big for one person, the mattress was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The non-street facing rooms are the best as they are the most quiet. The location is excellent - 10 minutes walk from the town center and a few minutes from the train station. The price includes breakfast which makes it good value for money compared to other hotels in the area. The staff speak good English and are very helpful

Review 123:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 124:The staff were very polite, helpful, friendly and efficient. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The room was clean and comfortable with fresh towels and bottled water every day. The location is excellent and within walking distance of the station,Rynek and the covered market. This was the second time we had stayed here and will certainly not be the last.

Review 125:The corridors are dark with old carpets, but this wasn't a problemfor me. Just something I noticed. The hotel is definitely not that badas many guests write in their reviews!

Review 126:My room was newly refubrished, clean, very big, warm and cosy. The pricewas good. Receptionists were very friendly. I would stay again.

Review 127:This hotel was the best deal on our recent trip to Poland. I was expecting a basic double, they gave us a whole suite on the quietest side of the hotel. Hotel is old but the suite was recently renovated with new furniture and a completely new bathroom. The breakfast was very good and the front desk staff were very nice.

Review 128:The only English TV channel was a news channel - Sky News I think.

Review 129:Good location for my needs, friendly staff, old building with lovely characterful restaurant, basic room which was nice & clean although the carpet in the room has seen better days, comfortable bed, good breakfast. Excellent value.

Review 130:No tea/coffee making facilities in the room.only one lift.

Review 131:The room was very large,i have never seen a hotel room so big.the roomwas cleaned every day and fresh bottles of water left every day.thereare tram and bus stops right outside the hotel entrance and the railwaystation is only about half-a-mile up the road.the buffet breakfast wasexcellent, plenty of it.also in the restaurant we had an express lunchwhich consisted of a soup and a main course for 15 pln.it was servedvery quick.evening meals were cheap starting from 20 pln, served on largeplates which were just big enough to hold the food.we would thoroughlyreccomend the hotel polonia.value for your money.

Review 132:I had a room facing the main street on my first night's stay. The actual room was really nice and comfortable inside but the noise from the street was terrible. I could hear trams, cars, everything going on down below, even with calming music playing in my ears from my ipod I didnt get more than a couple hours of sleep in total. They really need to sound-proof the street facing rooms. After I complained the next morning I was given a back-facing room and had a blissful night of sleep!

Review 133:The rooms facing the back of the building are great, spacious, clean bathroom, beds with good mattresses (not lumpy), and warm. The breakfast has a good selection of food - including scrambled eggs, sausages and pancakes. Overall it's really good value for money considering the location (less than 10 minutes walk from the centre, a few minutes from main train station, bus and tran stop just outside) but make sure you ask for a non-street facing room if you want to sleep!

Review 134:- breakfast was ok but for the long queues to get food and especially drinks and coffee.i was standing in the queue but the machine was broken just almost before my turn came:( so I stayed without morning coffee. - restaurant was closing too early- at 9 pm. - sockets were terrible in the room. it was very dangerous to use them. - the rooms require to be renovated. - very noisy. so it was hard to fall asleep.

Review 135:-good personnel at the reception. -interesting elevator:):):):). Scary at first, but then it was funny to use it. - breakfast box is served when you have very early check out. - in general everything was ok for such a price

Review 136:We had to change room because my daughter was given a sofa bed she did not find comfortable.(The beds in the second room were excellent.) Noise from the trams early in the morning, but we did appreciate being able to get around town easily because they stopped so close to the hotel - so mixed feelings on the trams!

Review 137:It is a large hotel but we were treated as individuals. The staff were extremely helpful and booked taxis, suggested restaurants, lent us umbrellas and were extremely polite and caring. Laundry done, inexpensively,in one day. A good breakfast included in the room rate. The room was clean and the water was always hot.

Review 138:My single room had old fernitures and in general building is old. I would not recommend for couples. The price is high compared to the quality.

Review 139:Its close to the center , easily accisible by tram or bus. Good connection to the center

The Fine Print

Please note that the restaurant is open from 12:00 until 21:00 (Monday to Saturday) and from 12:00 until 19:00 (Sunday) and has a separate entrance.
