Reviews for Hotel 3 Paardekens
Review 1:Noise till 3:00 AM coming from a bar in the close neighbourhood. The bar customers are not aware of (or are not interested in) the fact that their garden is beside a hotel.
Review 2:Location in the center of town. The town has a lot to offer.
Review 3:Rooms are okay but on the small side. The bathrooms are too small and narrow, with a very awkwardly positioned toilet too close to the opposite wall and right next to the shower, which actually makes it impossible to open the shower door completely, as it hits the toilet halfway, which makes entering the shower difficult.
Review 4:Location.
Review 5:there was an alarm on the last night of our stay, so we had to be in a lobby for 20 minutes; after all, nobody ever explained what happened nor excused
Review 6:the place is very clean, excellently located, breakfast great, amazing view from the dinning place, stuff pleasant and very helpful
Review 7:(The sink of the shower was blocked, so I was standing in a pool of shower water. Not so clean in general (mosquito splashed on the walls)
Review 8:location, relaxed staff
Review 9:I thought you had to wait an awfully long time, to get served at the bar(even when I was the only person, waiting to be served) the radiator in the room took way to long to give of heat, and the bed was uncomfortable at times.
Review 10:The location of the hotel was perfect, for everything we needed, the staff were very polite, helpful and friendly. I liked the fact the cleaners changed towels etc every day and kept things nice and fresh. The local beers were a real joy to drink, and shall be sorely missed.
Review 11:Small rooms and rather uncomfortable beds. Reception is closed between 11 and 7 in the morning. Marginal value for money but in general a cheaper option compared to the usually overpriced Mechelen hotels.
Review 12:Great location with some rooms and breakfast area facing directly at the cathedral. Main square is just outside the door with many bars, shops and restaurants. Clean rooms and polite staff.
Review 13:I was not able to sleep through the noisy streets - many bars nearby. We found some hair in the bathroom.
Review 14:Location, nice and new hotel. Friendly staff.
Review 15:Reception not staffed in mornings to let you check out early. Sometimes noisy in evening with people going down the street after events in the local square.
Review 16:good location in centre of town.
Review 17:- Uncomfortable beds;- missing door locker or DND signs to avoid having cleaning lady in the room in inappropriate moment; - missing hotel parking or better deal for the street parking
Review 18:Nice, cosy and stylish hotel right in the center.
Review 19:The room was quite dusty and reception staff (apart from one very nice Dutch woman) could have been a little more welcoming.
Review 20:Location was fab and the bedroom was lovely.
Review 21:The mosquitos! Given insect atomisers (empty) but didn't realise we needed them, so got bitten at night. These should have been filled and plugged in. Staff changed towels daily we prefer to re use. Would have appreciated a warning about the festival going on so we couldn't eat in the hotel!
Review 22:Excellent position, lovely comfy spacious rooms. Generally very helpful staff.
Review 23:No tea/coffee making facilities in room, however hotel very close to bars & cafes therefore able to go out for coffee once up & ready to face the day.
Review 24:Lovely spacious room, bed very comfortable, excellent shower in bathroom. View of cathedral from room, 30 seconds from hotel. Mechelen was no distance from Rock Werchter festival, took 25 mins by car. Will definitely stay again!!
Review 25:Breakfast costs 10€ but the view from the breakfast room on the third floor is spectacular.
Review 26:The hotel is situated in a side street just opposite of the big cathedral, underground parking nearby and cheap, very friendly staff, large bedroom and bathroom.
Review 27:I had to wait to be let in when checking in, but only for about 5-10minutes, and the staff member did apologise
Review 28:Location was excellent, very cosy and comfortable
Review 29:A bit pricey for such a small room. The heating did not really come on until the second night, and there was no extra blanket in the closet.
Review 30:The view of the cathedral over the rooftops as seen from the picture window of the breakfast room. It's gob-smacking !
Review 31:Breakfast was appalling. I could have used the bread rolls as weapons, the boiled eggs were cold, the croissants were Frey tiny cheap ones and there was not much choice in flavours of yoghurts. Lots of apple flavoured ones, obviously the flavour not many people like. Needless to say we cancelled breakfast for the following day as 10€ was very steep for what we got.
Review 32:Good clean and comfortable hotel close to the centre and a good base to explore from.
Review 33:Small single bed in individual room. Also I got eaten alive by mosquitos - the staff were supportive in providing me with a solution but would have preferred this not to happen in the first place.
Review 34:Helpful staff, pleasant bar and restaurant area with good food at reasonable prices. Excellent wifi.
Review 35:The check out put at 10.00 seems to be too early although I was told that 11.00 will do if I take breakfast there. There seems to be no parking facilities for people who are driving.
Review 36:The hotel is located in the heart of Mechelen, a stone thrown from the big cathedral and the grand place. You can't miss it whether you have been in Mechelen before or not.
Review 37:The waitress lady for doing the breakfast is not realy representative . She was in a bad mood , she looked more television, rather at the guests. She was snorry and not well dressed!
Review 38:we enjoyed our stay here the staff were nice and brought us clean towels every day with pleasure..however no air con in the rooms made it difficult to sleep in the summer nights..and when we opened the window the mosquitoes ate us alive! also a lot of noise from the restaurant right below us.
Review 39:smell of wet soil on ground floor
Review 40:Location
Review 41:Breakfast (minimal)
Review 42:Location, room, quietness (Room was located @ the backside)
Review 43:Large twin room turned out to be very small.
Review 44:Convenient location in a quiet and peaceful street.
Review 45:Breakfast was vary basic for the price. No night porter or wake up call facility.
Review 46:Location. Mechelen is a lovely city.
Review 47:Bare floors bit noisy when other guests pass by
Review 48:Friendly and helpful staff, calm setup, clean, very central
Review 49:No storage for bicycles
Review 50:Friendly staff, basic but comfortable stay
Review 51:We would have liked the possibility to make our own coffee in the room..
Review 52:Friendly, flexible staff and simple, modern rooms. Nice patio to relax.
Review 53:Friendliness of staff and their willingness to help. Location about 10 seconds' walk from cathedral.
Review 54:Single room was very small.
Review 55:I was impressed by the willingness of personnel
Review 56:Bad rate between price and quality
Review 57:Good positioning
Review 58:poor breakfasts for the price
Review 59:very friendly staff would certainly stay there again brilliant location
Review 60:Toilet was not functioning properly & the pay parking. Breakfast was moderate.
Review 61:Location & cleanliness
Review 62:Mosquito battlefield on the walls
Review 63:Location Staff
Review 64:the bell in the church near the hotel
Review 65:Good location for Mechelen, small hall but clean and new hotel.
Review 66:Room somewhat small
Review 67:Nice breakfast room Helpful & friendly staff Great italian restaurant attached to hotel Clean but basic room Good free wifi
Review 68:I could hear footsteps from the street ! And this with cafe and bar nearby . Room at streetside to avoid !! No Belgian staff ?? ! I love Belgium with Belgians !
Review 69:Bathroom: NO heating Bed: Matras fell off the bed during the night; to soft, to lare for the support or support is to small... Check-out on Saturday: not men tioned that it can only from 8 am. Staff was not very friendly telling us this. Eventually she helped us out.
Review 70:Nothing major, breakfast was standard continental and not very exciting, but perfectly acceptable
Review 71:Good wifi, helpful staff, large room, central location, quiet
Review 72:Only thing that i can say is it could do with better directions as it took me 40mins and going round in circles before we found it, As you are based down a narrow side road we cudnt see it from the car.
Review 73:Was very pleased with the hotel was very clean and modern.
Review 74:Parking away from hotel, 230m walk non covered. As a business traveler aproblem when walking with luggage or suit in the rain. Even parking atthe entrance is risky due to police camera control. Staff on duty alertthough to call police when arriving using navigator and triggering thepolice cam.
Review 75:Centrally located in charming medieval town.
Review 76:Excellent location in the centre of town, next to the 'Grote Markt'. Lots of pubs, restaurants and shops. Good parking opportunity's near the hotel.
Review 77:The walls in this hotel aren't really soundproofed, so you'd be best off packing some earplugs.
Review 78:The location was spot on, but really anywhere in Mechelen city's centre is fine.
Review 79:Room about minimum acceptable size Bed too soft
Review 80:Excellent location, quiet and yet very central Nicely decorated interior in old building Efficient staff
Review 81:Needs better signage to find it, down a laneway with no signage onroadway to tell you its that lane. Party signing in courtyard below at12pm. It is not a €100/night hotel. The chiming of church bells onthe half hour, which could be heard with the windows closed.
Review 82:Clean
Review 83:A very nice, clean hotel with an outstanding location near the cathedral and Grote Markt in old Mechelen. The hotel staff was very helpful, and the room well equipped, modern and elegant.
Review 84:We found the cost of the breakfast a little expensive.
Review 85:The hotel is near the Mechelen Catedral, a very good place if you are interested in knowing the city. The staff was kind to do our check-in after midnight despite of the booking said it was until 23:00. Nice place.
Review 86:The location is really great, the historical centre and the shopping district is just minutes away from the hotel. At the same time it is hidden in a small side-street and that's why it it nice and quiet an night.
Review 87:The toilet came without toiletries, and while there was some kind of liquid dispenser in the shower, the sink did not even have soap. While I dont mind shower gels and shampoos et, I was very suprised when there was no soap and felt it let down what was otherwise a real little gem of a place to stay.
Review 88:The common area was redone, the lift and reception looked relatively new and the receptionist was very friendly and easy going. The room was very basic, but it was the decor was modern, the voile blinds were beautiful and the beds and bed linen was crisp and comfortable. There was a fantastic SONY Bravia TV in the room. Other than that, the location was amazing, and there are two 24hr underground car-parks on opposite sides of the square which make parking easy.
Review 89:No lotion or shampoo. Mosquito bit me all night.
Review 90:Convenience. Style. Location.

Review 103:Noisy room. 3rd Floor same as the Breakfast room. Too much noise early in the morning
Review 104:It is very basic. Bathroom is probably smallest I have ever been in. Don't like single beds
