Reviews for Hotel La Lucertola

Review 1:Nothing.

Review 2:Amazing views from balcony. Love to listen to waves breaking right below room. Room spacious, with fair sized shower. Nice breakfast buffet and patio on which to eat in nice weather.

Review 3:there was nothing that I really did not like. The room could have been a little better but the views make up the difference for the room. The room was a little small but was fine.

Review 4:The staff was pleasant and kind. The hotel is not a 10 on a scale but probably an 8. The views were fantastic. The best view that I have ever seen of the open water. Fabulous

Review 5:Lovely views over the sea and well placed for easy walk into Vietri. Also as its at the end of the Amalfi coast, it's well placed for a day's drive down to Paestrum

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:Well-situated,especially with road open both ways, close to autostrada and to road down Amalfi Coast. Wonderful views, waves breaking below rooms. Comfortable beds, nice size room and bathroom. Good choices for breakfast with good freshly made cappuccino.

Review 8:needs more maintenance, but this is understandable given the position, by the sea and extremely difficult to reach

Review 9:beautiful location on a rock by the sea

Review 10:This hotel is in a convenient location on the sea front at Vietri Sur Mare. We had a one night stop as were travelling around the Amalfi region looking at wedding venues. The hotel is lovely with stunning views of Salerno and the beginning of the Amalfi coast.

Review 11:We didn't like how hard it was to access. The hotel was on a one-way road, and it also did not have very good parking. We also had trouble speaking to the concierge as one of the main workers did not speak any English. We also didn't like how smoking was permitted in the dining area outside. It was a very small patio and we found it difficult to enjoy our meals with the smell of cigarettes.

Review 12:The View of the ocean was amazing. The hotel was on a cliff. The staff that spoke English were all very nice to us. The valet parking gentlemen were incredibly helpful in getting our car out of a tight parallel parking situation.

Review 13:Asked for an iorning board and iron from reception on 2 occasions and were told that he didnt know where it was. This is usualy a basic request at any hotel and shouldn't be so difficult to assist. Especially when we needed to iorn clothes for both the evenings and no effort was made to even find out if it could be found. Every other hotel we stayed at along the Amalfi coast had no problem with proividing one.

Review 14:Location was perfect! Amazing setting!

Review 15:The bed could have been better and the shower a bit more powerful, but otherwise the room was totally acceptable.

Review 16:Friendly staff. Wonderful view from the balcony

Review 17:If you stay at the hotel and want to swim in the see before 12 then you have to pay 10 euros.

Review 18:Its close to Vetri would say about 10 min walk. Not many foreiners in hotel and town.

Review 19:Nothing really.

Review 20:Snorkelling from the little beach. Restaurants up the hill in the town. Very good breakfast for Italy with excellent pastries and cornettos (croissants). Helpful and friendly staff. Laid back feel. Excellent base for visiting all the Vesuvian sites, Paestum, Amalfi coast etc if you have a car. Great view from our bedroom.

Review 21:Everything else. It was pre-season and there was virtually no staff. So we had to carry our bags. No secure parking so we parked illegally in a tow zone. A dining room-- yes but for breakfast only so we walked in the rain for 45 minutes to find the only open restaurant in town.

Review 22:Our room hung over the cliff allowing us to see and hear the stormy Mediterranean at her finest.

Review 23:The pillows and bed were pretty ordinary. The bathroom facilities were pretty pore. Would not rate this place as 4star, but it was a great place to stay.

Review 24:Great views of the ocean and Amalfi Coast the parking was good

Review 25:No electric sockets near the bed. Noisy ventilation in the bathroom. I could hear the noise from the corridor, but fortunately it was low season and there was little movement.

Review 26:Amazing view from the balcony. Nice staff. Cleanliness. Enjoyable breakfast.

Review 27:Beautiful cliff top location where the balcony of the room opened out directly above the sea. Great restaurant. 10 minute walk to variety of restaurants and beach.

Review 28:Resturant staff dont know how to behave. My self I approached the nar upon arriving for dinner, without saying a word I was attacket verbally by a bar waiter. I dont understand Italian, but other guest contacted me after and said it was a personal attack on me. I left the hotel within the hour despite having two days left of my prepaid stay. Upon leaving a representant came with some cash as refound with a single word "Sorry". Andreas, France.

Review 29:The staff were sometimes a little unfriendly, but they did help with booking taxis etc so this was a minor issue. Breakfast was exactly the same everyday and a little variation would have been welcome.

Review 30:The location is a quiet and a little away from the town, but this adds to the charm of the hotel. The private beach area is small, but very comfortable and a nice way to spend a quiet day in the sunshine. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The bed was great!

Review 31:The hotel has a gret location if you get a room with a sea view. Aside from this I can't see why you would stay here. The rooms are very basic but comfortable, and for what they are, they are a little overpriced. The man on reception was very rude- seemed in a huff to have to deal with guests! He also recommended a fish restaurant to go to- the closest one to the restaurant. Avoid at all costs- the worst food and service we have ever had! My partner is Italian and a chef and he was embarrassed that this was what the amalfi coast had to offer me as a tourist. The restaurant isn't part of the hotel but it wa recommended by the guy at reception. We would stay here again as we would know what to expect, but aside from the view-it wasn't quite the romantic setting we were looking for on the amalfi coast.

Review 32:Everything was perfect with this hotel. Buses were a bit hard to figure out as there seems to be no trains - but that's not clear when you buy your ticket at the train station in Salerno. Opt instead to take the local bus #4 to and from Salerno. €1.20 one way - buy bus tickets at the Tabacchi (sp?) shops instead of train station (as that's for the Trenitalia bus).

Review 33:We happened across this hotel in Vietri Sul Mare as Salerno was completely booked up. After 2 nights in the Grand Salerno we were sad to leave. What a find to come across this fantastic hotel instead (for less) just 5km up the road!! I can't believe anyone would rate it less than excellent. It's one of a very few hotels right on the ocean (rooms on a cliff!) with terraces and amazing ocean views. The decor is the most modern and beautiful we've seen in our month stay all over Italy. I can't say enough about this hotel and would come back again if ever in the area.

Review 34:First of all this accommodation is not a 4 but 3 star hotel. That might partly explain my disappointment. Most disturbing was however the grumpiness of the staff, which vividly displayed dissatisfaction of working there and ideally wouldn't want to talk to the customers at all. The Wi-Fi didn't work in the room, only in the lobby, which for me does not qualify the hotel to be called Wi-Fi equipped. People were crowding in front of the reception with their mobile phones. The parking space is very limited - that's quite common on Amalfi coast. Still, I think it's not fair to advertise on internet that parking is available, and then I was asked to park my car on the narrow street just in front of a turn - that didn't give me a comfort feeling about the safety of my car.

Review 35:It is very nice that your balcony is located right on the cliff as if you could jump directly to the water.

Review 36:Staff weren't especially helpful - we had to ask about everything (wifi password, breakfast time, surrounding s...). Also had no map to give us.

Review 37:Balcony off our room had the most breathtaking ocean view. Short walk to Vietri town centre full of cute shops and close to Vietri Marina for beach & food.

Review 38:in our room wifi worked only in bathroom. the fact that you have to pay extra money for the the private hotel beach is a bit disapointing.

Review 39:the view and the location is excellent. the food was good. he room is nice and comfortable. the private beach is beautiful and cosy.

Review 40:Although I'm sure maintenance has been done recently, the hotel could really use a facelift.

Review 41:The view! this was in a great location just outside of Salerno with panoramic views. the value for money was good.

Review 42:Private beach and beach bar was closed down, which the hotel doesn't inform about on their website.

Review 43:Wonderful ocean view from the balcony!

Review 44:Loved the room and the view

Review 45:The view is impressive really amazing, the room is very comfortable and the breakfast is good. Just the bathroom stall is very, very small.

Review 46:Beautiful view from the room and great breakfast! Highly recommend this place.

Review 47:Need transport to enjoy the location around the hotel

Review 48:Great sea view and good access to the sea

Review 49:Perfect location directly at the seaside. Good room and breakfast. Our balcony was above the sea. Helpful staff.

Review 50:Nil

Review 51:Location and beautiful panoramic views.

Review 52:The pictures is very misleading. The hotel is old and not nice.

Review 53:you need to pay for the beach

Review 54:the view in the hotel was excellent, our room had the most beautiful view of the coast, the breakfast very well.

Review 55:Hard bed and flat pillows!

Review 56:Swimming in the sea, walking to Vietri village and local restaurants

Review 57:This was the perfect location for us to launch our scooter trip up the Amalfi Coast. We loved Vietri itself and all its ceramic pottery.

Review 58:Hotel requires renovation. Oriented for local Italian tourist only. Staff speak very poor English and not helpful at all.

Review 59:Location faced to the sea

Review 60:Very clean room. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast good view. Friendly staff

Review 61:some mosquito there, please have a solution for customers.

Review 62:the view, the balcony, the restaurant are so great.

Review 63:The breakfast was very poor and not what we expected.

Review 64:I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel, the breafast was good and the wifi was good

Review 65:the bathroom is too small. air-condition did not work.

Review 66:the view. breakfast is good

Review 67:The town of Vietri itself is a bit tired.

Review 68:The venue was great very beautiful scenery up on a cliff face

Review 69:steps down to the sea.....not good if you have any mobility problems

Review 70:Overlooking the sea, watching the cruise ships come in

Review 71:Some staff were not particularly helpful.

Review 72:Good location and we had a room with sea view which was wonderful.

Review 73:A ludicrous stay: the staff was surly and uncouth, the hotel has the despairing look of better days, and hosts noisy parties late into the wee hours. But for those of you who are thinking that the main asset is the hotel's access to a private beach, beware: the said swimming platform is a tatty, ramshackle rusty thing overseen by a listless teenager and a handful of sun-faded parasols. But the worst is that you will have to pay 10 euros per person per day to have access to this ocean-side paradise, even though the beach is the hotel's own. An utter rip-off. Oh, and the included breakfast suffers equal neglect and avarice.

Review 74:location is good

Review 75:balconies in need of repair. too far from beach and town of Vietri

Review 76:right on the sea so nothing between your room and the sea but it is not a beach hotel.

Review 77:Dinner was just OK - not great, but the setting made up for it.

Review 78:This is a lovely little hotel overlooking the coast. The staff is warm and welcoming. We could walk to the center of Vietri.

Review 79:Noicy engine sound from the commercial port not far way. Old and poor breakfast. Pity. Better onli a ' cornetto and a real neapolitan cafe'.

Review 80:Wonderful view. Modern architecture. Nice room. Helpfull staff. Good parking. Striking potentiality . Good luck!

Review 81:When I called the hotel to ask for directions, the lady simply dismissed me and told me to call back later even though I told her that I was already at the train station. We ended up going on foot and had to navigate our way there by GPS. The Vietri sul Mare train station is fairly deserted, and you will have to walk quite a distance to get to any form of public transport below. So it's best if you call for a taxi in advance if you have large luggages. Also, because Vietri is an area with lots of hills, it's best to travel light as you will have a lot of walking uphill to do if you decide to go on foot. It took us approximately 45 minutes to get to the hotel from the train station with multiple stops at the beach and at benches because the steep stairs and hills took a toll on us (due to our many bags). Furthermore, the staff did not speak fluent English so it was a challenge to communicate with them if you do not speak Italian. Moreover, the only restaurant available was the hotel's, which was closed and would only re-open in April. So you would have to walk quite a distance to the nearest restaurant.

Review 82:The breathtaking view right outside the balcony. The lift! The clean beach and crystal clear waters. They had satellite television with English-speaking channels.

Review 83:no restaurant available for dinner closed until April did not know when booking, no tea coffee facilities in room,

Review 84:Good size room nice view overlooking sea, Staff all ok

Review 85:bit of hiking to get to the village centre, breakfast could be better

Review 86:location, right on the cliff, you could jump in the water from the balcony, room clean and tidy

Review 87:basement room, poor view, hotel is too near container port so very noisy. Vitri is nice but not a great place to stay

Review 88:nice room, bad location of room, gave us the worst room in hotel, refused to turn on ac and it was hot!

Review 89:When we checked-in we were shown to our room, but not given the wifi code, no welcome pack or information on where to eat, how to get into town etc... We ate at the hotel, there was only 6 of us in the restaurant, food not as good as what we had, had on the rest of our stops down the Amalfi coast! Only 1 member of staff spoke basic English, which I suppose is understanable as we were in Italy, but compared to all the other towns we visited this was a stark contrast! Thankfully we did eventually get a wifi code, so we could google everything we needed to know.

Review 90:We drove along the Amalfi coast and used this hotel as a 1 night stop. Vietri is a small town, there didn't seem to be many tourists when we visited in September. The hotel it self has a modern appearance, we got a room with a sea view, which was great! Hotel has private parking 50 yds from the front door which was great!

Review 91:The hotel has no beach. Located near the port, so it is often quite noisy.

Review 92:The renovated rooms. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfasts. Excellent views of the sea. You can reach the hotel by train. Can be reached by train to nearby attractions. But go far from the station on foot. The town is quite interesting and brightest. Very friendly and open people. We loved the restaurant II Principe e la Civetta. It located on the Via Giuseppe Mazzini 137. Tasty, stylish. It has a lovely atmosphere.

Review 93:getting there along the Amalfi coast in a large vehicle was at times testing

Review 94:The Hotel location is very good and is in walking distance to village, the rooms have some magic views.

Review 95:poor own beach that costs you 10 eur per person per day, wifi could be better

Review 96:superb sea-view, clean room, suitable location - between the sea and city center

Review 97:There are virtually no other restaurants in the vicinity other that the hotels own (which though is very good). Wifi internet access only in lobby area and not in rooms.

Review 98:Nice and clean rooms. Friendly staff. Have their own sundeck and access to the beach (but beware of steep stairs as the hotel hangs on the cliff). Free parking.

Review 99:The worst hotel.don't ever go there.the staff was very rude.it is said that it has a private beach but after 13:00 there is no sun.the beach is 150 steps down and there is no elevator.you need to climb after bathing. When i asked for the towels they said they don't have towels.you need to bring it with you.the towels of the room can not be ised at rhe beach so we had no towel for the beach and nobody helped us. The tv in the room is very strange, you need to turn on the satellite but the decoder is underneath the table and the remote conteol does not see it even when you are very close.you need to bend to change a channel.the bathroom does not contain any sink you need to get out of the bathroom to wash your hands because the sink is in the bedroom!!! At the end, i won't recommend to anyone this hotel.don't go there!

Review 100:Good location overlooking the sea. Spectacular view from bedroom window and balcony. Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Wifi worked well. Plenty of access to restaurants.

Review 101:there was no terrass or a private beach with bar at the sea side in the beginning of june, how it was explained on there booking-side. The hotel was not completly renovated , only some rooms (without the balconi) are ready. some of staff were very unfriendly i don`t recommend this hotel because its too cheap for this uncomfortabel features .

Review 102:the superior rooms are nice

Review 103:Staff was not very friendly- seems each receptionist had bad mood onthat day) the hotel is the last one before the big industrial area ofthe port, so it can be hardly recommended for beach leisure.

Review 104:Amazing view from the room- the sea is under your balcony. Fair 3*facility and room.

Review 105:Room with a view was of Gulf of Salerno, on the Amalfi Coast wasfantastic!Service was wonderful, the room was large & comfortable. No complaints from us!

Review 106:We were there before it had really opened up for the summer season so there was no restaurant or bar open. The shower was adequate but not brilliant. There was no hairdryer, water glasses or iron in the room but they were available on request. Parking would be a major problem during peak season.

Review 107:The staff were lovely. The location was well placed for Salerno & the Amalfi coast. Breakfast was included.

Review 108:Not even the smallest thing.

Review 109:In this hotel things are amusingly different: you take the lift fromthe lobby and the lift goes down (not up) to get to your room; sinceall rooms face the sea you will be able to watch the sunrise early inthe morning; yes, this is East, not West as you could suppose being onthe Tirreno Sea. The sea is just about 20 meters below your balcony! All the staff is kind and gentle. I strongly recommend this hotel foryour next vacation.

Review 110:All Good!

Review 111:Staff is incredible and create a tranquil atmosphere! They take delight in pleasing us ...we have a specific room we adore! We are repeat guests and visit as frequently as possible.

Review 112:Difficult to locate due to road closed.

Review 113:Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable desk clerk. Balcony extended overthe water.Views were amazing. Nice breakfast, with a good variety offoods.Mattresses comfortable. Bathroom and shower nice.

Review 114:can't think of a thing!

Review 115:We are frequent guests. La Lucertola is our favourite hotel in the Amalfi/Salerno area! Sea views balcony. Comfortable bed/pillows! Staff outstanding.

Review 116:In February-March there is no dining room/restaurant open in thehotel. We often had to go find a restaurant some where else. It wouldhave been nice if this was mentioned.

Review 117:Wonderful location, Vietri is a nice little town. The balconyoverlooking the Mediterranean was so relaxing.

Review 118:the quality of the breakfast food was not great, but we weren't expecting it to be

Review 119:Staff was helpful, cleanliness of the rooms, view of the sea, reasonable price (special)

Review 120:Unfortunately, our rooms were below the dining room and we could here chairs scooting and high heels walking across the floor early in the morning. One of our nights, the restaruant only had a fixed menu when we only wanted a light meal. Breakfast was a bit minimal compared to other places we have stayed. Also, the beds were just a bit hard our liking.

Review 121:Amazing view from the Sea side rooms. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean. The town was only a quick walk away with tons of Ceramic Shops.

Review 122:It is at a walking distance of Vietri but a bit of an uphill walk. It did not make a difference to us because we got a rental car.

Review 123:Beautiful view and helpful staff. Great value for money.

Review 124:The downside to staying in this hotel is it is a 6k walk from Salerno so if you are going to and from Salerno it is a hike.

Review 125:Beautiful rooms, gorgeous decor, very contemporary and comfortable. We had a balcony overhanging the sea with a view that was outstanding.

Review 126:Some of the hotel staff were not very helpful or friendly, but others were great making our overall impression positive.

Review 127:The view from the Deluxe Oceanview room was phenomenal! We had an upgraded room with a bathtub overlooking the ocean. Very nice to have.

Review 128:To get to the sea was by many stairs The access to the water was over rough rocks or rusty scaffolding Staff seemed unhappy in their jobs, friendly but not very welcoming

Review 129:It was cheap considering the location Parking was quite good for that part of Italy where space us at a premium

Review 130:That's umbeliavable, however the air conditionated only works with a timmer!!! The night we were there was really hot, so we had to wake up in the middle of the night in order to turn the air cond on!! There is a novotel a few kilometers around, much cheaper and with much better facilities!!! I definatelly don't recomend that hotel

Review 131:The staff is always willing to help!!

Review 132:The hotel is old looking (both outside and inside). Its personnel wasnot particularly friendly. The private beach did not look good at all,yet they charge 10 eur per person a day. The view on the industrial portof Salerno is not great either.

Review 133:Its geographic location. Vietri being past the Amalfi coast and justbefore the urban Salerno area, it's a good stop for a road trip andheading south. The hotel is conveniently located in Vietri (a short walkfrom the village center)

The Fine Print

Please note that a beach service is available from June until mid-September. Access to the beach is free of charge after 2 pm.
