Reviews for Hotel & Spa Hacienda de Cortés
Review 1:It's a 20-30 minute or longer taxi ride into town, especially when traffic is jammed during a strike or demonstration.
Review 2:The way the historic site was integrated with the new construction. The beautiful gardens. The peerless service.
Review 3:I did not like the fact that we could not take food or drink into the hacienda. I realize the reasons for it, but it would have been nice to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine and cheese picnic style in the evening.
Review 4:I liked the historical aspect of the hacienda, the way the old architecture was incorporated with the new at the same time preserving the beauty of the old. I loved the beauty of the gardens and the pool with the columns in it. I would have loved to have seen peacocks displaying in the gardens!
Review 5:The only thing we didn't like about the hacienda was its location--far from downtown Cuernavaca and not walkable to anything of interest.
Review 6:The hacienda grounds are spectacular, and the staff attend immediately to any problem that arises.
Review 7:Because the attendance during our check out was rude and didn't pay attention to the customer needs.
Review 8:The cleanliness of the room and the beauty of the gardens.
Review 9:I was awakened by merry-makers in the (very) early morning. The hotel is often booked for wedding parties and the guests can get boisterous. I also heard activities in the street between 2 and 4 in the morning. The Hacienda is located on an active street, and you can hear trucks, car radios, road construction and other noises. The gardeners get started between 7 and 8 with leaf blowers and lawn mowers. So I guess that is how the merry-makers wake with aching heads!! The brick construction can hold humidity, and the room takes on a damp smell. I opened my doors and ran the ceiling fan at highest speed to freshen the room when I got home in the evening.
Review 10:This building has history going back to 1542-- it was a mill for producing sugar cane and was owned by the heirs of Cortes until the 20th century. The architecture is "industrial" in the sense that it is not ornamented like a cathedral from the same time period, but there are wonderful arches, buttresses & domes. Vines have overgrown the brickwork in several areas, most notably the restaurant-- the room with a tree growing through the walls. The gardens are fantastically lush and bursting with life-- birds, lizards, and butterflies. I stayed in a junior suite with a 4-poster king bed. The furniture was massively constructed of wood and wrought iron, adding wonderful atmosphere. Blankets and extra pillows were stored in a wooden trunk that looked 300 years old. The suite had a patio with table & chairs for 2. There was another table and chairs inside, plus a writing/computer desk. The TV and minibar were housed inside a cabinet. The mattress and pillows were average, although the linens and towels were nice quality. Bottles of water and coffee for the in-room coffee pot were provided gratis. The bath products are botancal, scented with verbena and very pleasant. The staff was attentive and very courteous. As a woman traveling/dining alone, I was treated with respect. I didn't use the heater or air conditioner, and I didn't use the TV. Wifi signal was very strong and available in every part of the facility. I sat at a wrought iron & talavera table in the "island" surrounded by the koi stream -- catching up on work on the computer-- for a couple hours one night. The restaurant provided sangria and cheese fondue with chorizo sausage-- such a pleasant and unusual environment.
Review 11:The complaints are few: (1) I would have liked there to be a mirror in the main sleeping room I was staying in b/c the lighting in the bathroom was not ideal for applying makeup (although I did see mirrors in the main room of some of the guest rooms, just not mine); (2) my room was not cleaned until very late in the day, although I was on the fourth floor so I suspect they just started at the bottom and went up. Very minor complaints, wonderful place and would stay again in a heart beat.
Review 12:What an amazing place! The grounds are amazing and well kept, and the guest rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. There are room options for every budget, and all are very nice and very clean. The restaurant was very good, although I would have enjoyed seeing a few more traditional mexican choices. The spa services were great and reasonably price. Would definitely stay again!
Review 13:Everything is excellent: the grounds, the staff, the rooms, the pool and the restaurant. It is a magical place with so much history.
Review 14:Loved the historical experience, food was top rate, staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very comfortable modern and clean.
Review 15:A very relaxing admosphere.

Review 17:old architecture
Review 18:service ambiance restaurant
Review 19:Fabulous location maintained beautifully. Excellent dining. lovely pool area.
Review 20:- Bad service on the restaurant, besides if you want to dring something in the pool nobody can support you, so you have to go directly to the restaurant - it's very small and with low maintenance. - I would recommend Hacienda San Miguel de las Palmas 100 times better than Hda de Cortes
Review 21:- Really close to Cuernavaca down town
Review 22:The shop in the hotel needs to carry a wider selection of goods to buy. Also, staff should be familiar on where one could purchase the many traditional crafts. Also, I was surprised that staff were unable to book tours outside the city. I was required to do it on my own. Needless to say, this is something management needs to be aware of so that staff learn to render this service to its clients.
Review 23:This is a beautiful Mexican hacienda and the history behind it makes the venue even more special. The gardens that sorround the grounds are impressive. The sound of birds throughout the day; bright flowers; butterflies; stone fountains -- they all come together which makes this a perfect place to relax. The menu is nothing short of amazing. The food ranges from gourment Mexican food to simple tacos or fresh fish and a variety of salads. The fresh fruit and vegetable juices were delicious as were the freshly baked sweet breads. The staff is helpful, professional, and very friendly. We spent four nights and, upon our arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that we had been upgraded to a junion suite. The suite was impeccabably clean; the bed and pillows were very comfortable; and the ammenities and furniture were great. Beautiful, historic sites and villages that are only 45-minutes away!
Review 24:It was not mentioned at booking or announced that the pool and jaccuzzi is closed for renovation. That was the main reason to stay at this place. The restaurant offers a menu that you must think you are in a 5-star restaurant. The execution of the food is poor. Same for the breakfast buffet. The kitchen needs a change or the chef needs to be changed, either way. Btw, the pool is closed for another 3 months!!!
Review 25:The hacienda is definitely worth to see.
Review 26:The best is that the hotel is super romantic !
Review 27:Bees got inside my room
Review 28:Beatiful Gardens and the Hacienda
