Reviews for Lighthouse Bungalows
Review 1:Very secluded and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired! Cold water only in basic bungalow and some are in desperate need of renovation!
Review 2:If you want chilled and basic on the edge of a cliff where you look out one window an it's sunrise and then lay on you balcony and watch the sunset then this is for you! It's not the cleanest of places but it's got character! Staff are great and the food is good! Just remember if you want 5 star book somewhere that five star!!
Review 3:When booked a fan room, we knew not to expect the best room ever, but this was over the line. Huge caterpillars, a lizzard on the bed, no hot water,,and no curtains in the shower, so basically anyone going by could see us struggle with the cold water stream. When we complained to the owner, she told us that we booked a fan room so we had to expect this. The booking page said nothing about having no hot water or about animals sharing the room with you. We asked the owner for a refund or room switch and shecreplied it was not possible because its full moon time. A 5 minute walk and we found the cocohut which was amazing and the price was almost the same as in this place
Review 4:View is nice and that is about it
Review 5:Bedbugs bedbugs bedbugs!!! My friend and I had been travelling aroundThailand for 3 weeks before staying in the lighthouse bungalows and hadvery few bites. After two nights we were both bitten to death. My friendhad an allergic reaction to them which caused her leg to swell becomevery tight and hot. She had to go to the doctors who confirmed it wasbedbugs and was prescribed antibiotics, itch relief, tablets and creamwhich cost 3000 baht!!
Review 6:Looks nice, food was ok not much choice and nice quiet beach.
Review 7:Very difficult location, the room wasn't very clean, it was in a very high area and it was difficult to get there at night.
Review 8:The views and the beach very nice. The British lady very nice and friendly.
Review 9:Luxury bungalow with ac are best views staight out to sea excellent but maybe a little pricey for someone on a tight budget but cheaper bungalows are avilable . The location is excellent bit of a walk to had rin 20 mins but very nice quite away from the busy crowd .very close to leela beach nice beech very quiet nice to chill .
Review 10:taxis only take you to a dirt track, but the bungalows will arrange to pick you up from that point. You only need to do this if you have a heavy rucksack or case, otherwise you can walk down sunset beach. When we arrived the owners wife (who is English) told us that she still had a luxury room available if we wanted to upgrade (but pay the extra). We asked to see both rooms... The basic room was very, very dirty. It looked as though it hadn't been cleaned for months. The toilet was dirty and there were bugs in the bed. There was a hole in the ceiling which was plugged up with a sock! It was also up a huge hill which would be very dangerous in the dark. My friend who had been travelling beforehand and had been staying in hostels said she hadn't seen anything that bad before. After seeing the room we were tempted not to stay there at all however we had already paid and we did manage to barter her down on the luxury room so we stayed there. The luxury room bathroom still needed to be cleaned thoroughly and the bin hadn't been emptied properly (there was an old sanitary towel left in it!). On the first morning as we were then told that after we agreed to stay she had received a booking online for the luxury room so we would have to go to the basic room. After some considerable time arguing the case that we had already agreed and paid for the room, plus the state of the other room (which the lady still hadn't seen for herself!) she eventually cancelled the online booking so we could stay in that room. The walk to sunrise beach (where the full moon party is) takes about 20 mins in total. It's a novelty that wears off quickly. Also the tide is in at night and the beach isn't that well lit so doesn't feel too safe. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
Review 11:Beautiful views
Review 12:Amazing view from our balcony, perfect location and nice and out of the way of the party town. Very basic but had everything we needed and great value for money, would definitely recommend for those who are happy living simply, if you like your luxuries then maybe you'll want to look elsewhere!
Review 13:The place was meant to be quite but the day of our arrival a party was organised, which we were uninformed about. The party was on until after midday. Basically, if you were a party animal, Lighthouse was the place to be. The staff was unfriendly. They failed to pick us up from the pier. The place is very far from the facilities. It is quite dangerous to get there by motorbike. You need to be a skilled driver. The windows of the bungalow are too small.
Review 14:The bungalows were in front of the beach.
Review 15:Service was pretty slow, inefficient and usually no real willingness to help was shown. We asked for an extra bed long before our arrival, and they forgot to put it in the room. We arrived late in the evening and the 2 people there didnt even try to help, simply said they didnt have an extra bed at the moment. One of us had to sleep on the floor that night.
Review 16:Great views and location, and very accessible price
Review 17:The bungalows are very far away from Haad Rin and completely inaccessible due to the terrain. Also the beach surrounding the bungalows has a really strong tide making swimming a non-option.The staff cannot be bothered to have a conversation, and the cook who served us many mediocre meals always had a frown on her face. The bungalows themselves were disgusting, and completely infested with bed bugs. We are covered in bites, don't stay here!
Review 18:The owner forgot what day we were arriving so couldn't collect us as her phone was switched off! The family dogs were in poor health, upset tummy but lying around on the cushions in the restaurant but they were friendly.
Review 19:The location was good if you like remote. Go to the bar for drinks but not for food. The owner was happy to take us into town in the pick up.
Review 20:Our stay at lighthouse bungalows was great, so much so we stayed on an extra few nights because we didn't want to leave. The location is unbeatable, it's tranquil and beautiful, the walk to the bungalows around the jetty is magical. The beach is a two minute walk back along the jetty and is idyllic. Staff are sweet and really helpful. We also enjoyed the party at the bungalows (a better bet for couples like us who are a bit old for full moon these days!) All round amazing place, one of my favourites in Thailand, can't wait to go back.
Review 21:Everything was great... Can't really complain about anything
Review 22:Room, balcony, hammock.. Watching sunrise and sunset... They take you into town when you ask,, lovely, quirky place.. Very individual... Beautiful to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing
Review 23:food was average little bit lacking in atmosphere although you can swim in the sea at the bungalows access isn't easy getting to haad rin was a 20 min walk balcony was not safe for a crawling baby (karla the owner did inform us of this before we booked however)
Review 24:beautiful views quiet and tucked away from haad rin mini adventure to get there along the boardwalk leela / sunset beach is close for a dip in the sea (or coco huts pool!) and also more places to eat provided us with a travel cot for our baby
Review 25:Nothing could compare to waking up and looking out and seeing the most stunning and peaceful view, it is such a warm and loved place to stay where nothing is too much and the staff and guests always have a smile on their face. Thank you
Review 26:Superb view, amazing location. Definitely take the deluxe bungalow with AC
Review 27:bungalovs are maybe for some animals like chiken, but not for the people.-location -staff -bungalovs
Review 28:nothing
Review 29:The view from the bungalows by the coast is amazings, far away from all the tourist as that's the last resort after the beach
Review 30:Really expensive for Fullmoon party period. but everywhere is the same
Review 31:View and Hammock
Review 32:A little expensive in Fullmoon
Review 33:Hammock!
Review 34:If you want to party and be close to the action, I wouldn't stay here
Review 35:Nice views. If you want peace and quiet you'll find plenty here
Review 36:everything else
Review 37:the location
Review 38:Bed bugs, long walk to get to the main beach, and unfriendly staff...
Review 39:The view is the only good part...
Review 40:Staff Location Value for money Beautiful view from room Food
Review 41:you can find way better for this price. bungalows in bad condition, small room and not very clean.
Review 42:the spot is very nice.
Review 43:Very comfortable bungalow with a great view from the balcony. A good place to get away from it all for a few days.
Review 44:Bungalows were amazing, with a great view out onto the sea. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 45:I found it unwelcoming, the bungalow itself was badly dated, very worn and appeared dirty. The bathroom was unhygienic and not up to standard. The mosquito net was torn and discoloured. No safe, flimsy doors and windows made me worry for the lack of security. Ended up making other arrangement so didn't have to stay.
Review 46:The views from the bungalows were very special.
Review 47:The owners are an en English-Thai couple and besides them no one speaks English in the hotel (NOT A WORD!). So if they are away, you will not get anything. The personnel are not even from Thailand, they are from Burma. You will not get anything after 22 as well since they go to bed. The English lady has also a rather strange idea of service. When we ordered a meal, we had to go to the counter ourselves to make an order, to bring some sources, to ask a fork or smth, then we didn't get a receipt, only a number shouted for to be paid and we had to go ourselves up to her to leave the money. We stayed in the best room that was nice but rather small. The water was always a little bit warm. It was impossible to adjust the air flow of the conditioner so after a couple of days we got a cold. Room service is bad, when we asked to clean the room, only the beds were made, all the rubbish left inside... Plus later I didn't find my watch that was lying in the open. It was found later because "it fell under the bed"... bad feeling. I face such a treatment for the first time, given how much money we paid in comparison to other hotels in the neighbourhood. We met some other people who were staying in a cheap fanned room there... there were mice... Brrr... A few more words about the location. It is the other side of Haadrin, 5 min by tuk-tuk or a 30 min walk to the center. We expected to have a nice calm beach but unfortunately it's rather away from the hotel, 10 min of walk. No conveniences there, coral, very shallow, impossible to swim, we had to get to Haadrin.
Review 48:The place is truly beautiful, nature, the sun, the sea. If you are looking for solitude and peace, this is the right place. Romantic view, hammock.
Review 49:It was a pretty far walk from haad rin beach, which is much nicer than the beach Close to lighthouse. It also about a 10-15 minute walk to reach any other restaurants and haad rin. We stayed in a fan room that had lots of creepy crawlers and was fairly dirty, but not horrible expcept it was very expensive, but we also stayed for full moon so prices were increased.
Review 50:It had a gorgeous view and wasn't too far from a beach, and the staff was very helpful, te good in the restaurant was good as well and reasonably priced
Review 51:The huts are a bit dark and dated, with skewed curtains and some cracks here and there. The first hut could not be locked properly; the door would always open if you gave it a bit of a push. On our request we were relocated to another hut. We stayed two nights, but the room was not cleaned during the day.
Review 52:The view is amazing. Huts are on a secluded, which can be a nice change from all the parties on the island. Haad Rin can be reached in 15-20 minutes via the Cocohut beach. Huts have small seating area where you can enjoy the view.
Review 53:Rooms are a little tired but overshadowed by the relaxing feel of the location.
Review 54:Character, quiet beautiful location, veranda and hammock over looking the sea, great green curry in the restaurant, free wifi and general ambience.
Review 55:Cold showers...insects in the room...but I mean that's pretty standard for Thailand!
Review 56:Very old school bugalows overlooking the ocean. Fantastic view from all bungalows. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Also about a 15 minute walk to the Haad Rin area where all the restaurants, bars, and full moon activities are - the walk is very safe to make at night as you are basically just walking down the beach.
Review 57:Our time at lighthouse bungalows was amazing. The staff was so friendly, we did not meet anyone who could speak english as good as him and was so nice. The beach next to lighthouse bungalows is the nicest we saw in Thailand (leela beach) and you can walk to the other beaches in haad rin and the shops in 10-15 minutes. The view from the bungalows is also amazing. All in all it was one of the best stays we had during our trip.
Review 58:Was a lot of steps to the room, not proper running water in taps showerhead broke and was not replaced, bathro was generally dirty floor haddirt marks on when we arrived needed a good scrub, bedding had holes anddirt stains on, mosiqto net was useless, would recommend if u was tostay then stay in an air conditioned room not a basic room
Review 59:Staff were very kind made u feel welcome good English speaking, niceromantic walk to the beach, very chilled out atmosphere in the restraunt
Review 60:There is two way to reach the hostel, if you follow the instruction of the people in the street you will pass by a mountain track, which is the best to arrive at the hostel completely disgusted.. So one advise, ask for "Cocohut resort" then walk through this hostel till the beach and to finish take left and walk all along the beach to the wood's path... Enjoy!
Review 61:The look out from the room was amazing, and it's very quiet!
Review 62:Stayed in the cheapest Bungalow, which seemed a bit old and could use some renovation. Although the more pricy ones looked quite clean and in good shape.
Review 63:Pok is an awesome manager. He's always around and cares very good about his guests. Some of the guests and me went with him to the half moon Party and we had a really good time. Pok took care of all of us and arranged taxis. The reception / restaurant area is a very relaxing place to hang out and read or have some good conversations. The view is great and I have seen awesome sunsets there. And there are 3 gorgeous dogs to pet and play with :-)
Review 64:No direct access to the beach The bedding is minimal for the price I was paying
Review 65:Quaint location on rocks Could swim off the rocks but no direct beach Fantastic view from the huts isolated Very familial
Review 66:Very shabby bungalows, unhygienic overall and creepy crawlers everywhere.
Review 67:The view
Review 68:Ants in the room, no tv, room was not cleaned. Not worth the money at all.
Review 69:The idea.
Review 70:- the dirt road to access
Review 71:- the atmosphere - the kind staff - the location - the food
Review 72:The view and staff were quality, I will be going back soon. Next time I will book a bungalow with ac
Review 73:Thank you Karla for a lovely stay
