Review 8：I had asked for a dedicated shower but our room only had a bath with shower over - however perfectly adequate, and we were only staying one night. Only form of heating appeared to be the air conditioning unit in the bedroom.
Review 9：Fantastic position overlooking the sea. Good size room, comfortable bed and very large and well furnished outside terrace with exceptional views. The weather was excellent during our stay and we had breakfast on the terrace which further added to our enjoyment of this property.
Review 10：The location of the Castelo Guest House is superb, and we were made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was a veritable feast and therefore very good value for money. Everything was lovely!

Review 12：Everything was excellent - beautifully furnished room (with fridge), first-rate bathroom, terrace with outstanding view, great housekeeping, and very obliging management. Mind that the guest house only accepts cash and/or payment in advance. Parking up the street was no problem in September. Good restaurants and supermarkets around. There is a stage next to the beach with music playing up to midnight (at least in summer). Don't expect fine sandy beaches, yet Carvoeiro is the perfect spot for relaxing and excursions. It was the highlight of our Algarve trip and we would definitely stay much longer next time!

Review 14：The view from our balcony was the perfect start to everyday of the holiday. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom was huge and modern. Having a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and sink was great so we had our own breakfast on the balcony which was bliss. The beach was a stones throw away with lots of restaurants near by.

Review 16：Joao (the owner) was helpful and pleasant. When he heard it was our honeymoon he genuinely melted with excitement. The place is on a beautiful cliff overlooking the beach, adorable, exceedingly clean, and run by lovely people. What else could you ask for!

Review 22：Absolutely loved every minute of our stay! It was my birthday when I was there and they even baked me a cake. We stayed in room 6 and it was incredible. The view from our room was breathtaking and having our own private terrace just made our stay so much more comfortable. We had a fridge in our room and the biggest most comfiest bed. A long mirror. Our bed was huge and now we are at homeour own bed seems tiny now we are home. The owners recommended really great restaurants while we were there too which were very close walking distance. This guest house is in an excellent location. The breakfast is better than any of the restaurants near by. The lady makes the best scrambled eggs. I honestly can't recommend it enough.
Review 23：Had a lovely room with a balcony giving an excellent view over the bay. Staff did all they could to make our holiday a good one. Airport transfer arranged by guest house and was very efficient. Had a fridge in room and access to a well equipped kitchen so could make hot drinks and snacks.

Review 30：Amazing room with terrace - view directly over beautiful Carvoeiro beach. Large, bright and very comfortable room with a fridge and the use of a fully kitted-out kitchen. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations of restuarants and things to do. Definitely request to get a room with sea view. Highly recommended and would definitely stay there again if we have the pleasure of returning to Carvoeiro.

The owners and staff were very friendly. nothing was too much trouble, after they found out that my husband only drank decaffinated coffee,they provided him with his own pot of coffee every morning. The attention we received was excellent it surpassed any we have experienced in large hotels. .
Review 35：A really nice room with a balcony. This house has been over 200 years and everything is still so well maintained. When a beam of sun light comes into the room in the morning, open the door, listen to the sound of the tide and overlook the immense Atlantic ocean, Wow, What a beautiful place to stay. We'll definitely come back.
Review 36：Bathroom needs update. The shower stall is as basic as it gets. The position of the sink and toilet is very odd. It would be nice to have the balcony off the main bedroom instead of the one kids skerp in but that's not an issue if you don't have kids. Breakfast a bit on the pricey side. We only had it one day. You can eat for cheaper in the cafe steps away. The Wifi is horrible. Non existent. Don't depend on it to get anything done.

Review 40：Whilst O Castelo beats almost every similarly priced hotel / guest house we have stayed in across Europe hands down for location, it does not match most of them when it comes to attention to small detail. Details such as the following could easily be addressed: • There is no folder / directory of hotel facilities and local amenities in the room – giving details about use of the complimentary kitchen, a list of TV channels, the Wi-Fi code etc. • The quality of the Wi-Fi connection is temperamental at best. • There is no towel rail next to the washbasin in the bathroom, although there is room. Towels are on a stand away from the washbasin and next to the toilet. • There is no toilet roll holder. Toilet rolls are left on the floor or on the cistern. • There is no hook on which to hang dressing gowns / clothing when using the bathroom and shower. • There are very few complimentary toiletries and they are not replenished daily. We had to ask for new shampoo when our ration ran out after three days. It’s also important to clarify that the ‘on-site parking’ is in fact ‘on street parking’ in the narrow streets behind O Castelo.
Review 41：There cannot be many hotels in the Algarve with a better location than this. Situated overlooking the stunningly beautiful bay and beach at Carvoeiro, O Costelo offers a warm welcome in tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable surroundings. Breakfast is of a good quality, but we would recommend it be taken on your bedroom terrace as the breakfast / reception area is rather cramped and guests who choose to take breakfast there share a single large table seating up to 8 people at a time. The beds are very comfortable. Carvoeiro itself is a 2-3 minute walk away, and offers a selection of very good restaurants. We found the guest house and Carvoeiro itself to be an excellent base from which to explore the Western Algarve in our hire car - from its highest point at Monchique and Foia to its most western point at Sagres and Cabo de Sao Vicente.

Review 43：The only remark I have is that the room was not at all sound proof, so the breakfast noises and chatter of the other guests we could hear word for word. But nothing major, it was a great place for a quick stay.
Review 44：Mr Joao was very friendly and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed. Great to have a shared kitchen as well with all house hold items and a fridge. Location is brilliant, restaurants and views all right in front of you. All in all really good value for money.
Review 45：I enjoyed everything about Castelo Guest House, including the Atlantic view. The house was spotless and people very nice and helpfull. The house is only a couple of minutes of walk from a beautiful beach and town centre (Carvoeiro), with a lot of restaurants, cafes, bars, souvenir shops and groceries. There is a lovely pathway built along the shore, great for walking, jogging as well as cycling.

Wonderful that you can use the guest kitchen so you can sit out on the terrace with your own snacks etc. Very helpful with advice on restaurants, sight seeing etc. We will be returning.
Review 47：Our room was a small room with odd stairs we had to climb to get there. Also we could hear ll the noises from the breakfast dishes and it would wake us up every morning. The fact we had to book breakfast and s time slot for it, from the day before was also a bit unconvinent.

Review 50：The view from our balcony overlooked the sandy cove and we spent many happy hours gazing down at the scene below. The staff couldn't do enough to help us. Our room was large and airy and we had TWO balconies! We hadn't realised when we booked, but there was a fully equipped communal kitchen to use as well. Our 4 night stay was amazing.

Review 53：The shower cubicle in room 6 is extremely compact, our only criticism of that room. Our last day/night was spent in room 8 which both the lay-out of the room and very small 'balcony' didn't compare with room 6.

Review 57：Having to pre-pay room for 3 nights, and left after 1st night- room very small, bed rock hard, couldn't even get dry in shower! Room opened directly onto breakfast room, no privacy. Tiny terrace but again absolutely no room or privacy. Asked what time breakfast required, but then no room at communal table! Very expensive for what it was-wasted a lot of money forfeiting room with no recompense.

The room was spotless, we had a huge balcony, overlooking the sea and town, with sunbeds, table & chairs, extra chairs with coffee table and parasol. and still plenty of room. There is even an sun parasol to take to the beach. On each floor there is a well equipped kitchen with everything you could want, if you prepare your own meals. Staff were all lovely and very friendly. Just a short distance to beach and small town with plenty of restaurants. Just great!
Review 67：The kindness of the owner and all the staff was remarkable. Waking up with the sun in the room and hearing the ocean proved to be quite special. The location is perfect with an amazing sea view, quite good for lazy mornings.
Review 68：My room was next to the communal living/breakfast area and I could hear all the activity in this area during the morning and evening if people were using it. So if you are a light sleeper this was not the best room in the hotel. There was a tall free standing plastic towel rail in the bathroom which kept falling over - towel rails on the wall would have been a better option.
