Review 1：Dinner (1x) and breakfast (2x) was not up to a 5 star facility Told (reception) that air conditioning either worked on the living room or bedroom. And we found it switched off for no reason 4-5 h later: At this time of the year it was rather unpleasant. The flat boasted a domotics screen visibly for the clients but only used by the maintenance staff For the swimming pool towels with holes? At the reception PR was somewhat defective - if they ignore the reason it is not worth explaining.

Review 2：The design of the lake connecting architecturally with the swimming pool The view from the bedroom balcony was quite pleasant Nevertheless the whole structure was slightly claustrophobic - surrounded by the Carvoeiro village. Renting a bike meant cycling around a small limited circle

Review 3：The hotel was not suitable for people with mobility issues and it said that it was, my father was in a wheelchair and it was virtually impossible to use a wheel chair outside of the main building due to the cobbles. Also some information was incorrect , on booking .com it said that the hotel offered a fee shuttle bus to Villamoura and this was not the case, unfortunately this was one of the reasons we chose the hotel.

Review 9：We stayed one night in September in Monte Santo. This was the first time we failed to get the room of the right category which we had reserved through Booking.com. When we left I could check all the details in the original confirmation e mail. The room should have been in the main building (Club House) with VIP amenities. The room we got was far away from the main building. It is pitty because we wanted to enjoy the best what this pleasant resort and its friendly staff can offer and possibly come again.

Review 10：Overall it was great but a minor gripe, Apartments are stocked with basics but could use some more equipment.No sweeping brushes, or grill pans provided in apartments.

We lived at Pestana, Gramacho, for past 10 years and saw Monte Santo being developed over the years so we are aware of other alternatives eg Vale d'Oliveiras which is much nearer a 4/5 Star.

The swimming pool was filled with children and pool water quality was questionable.Breakfast proved to be too noisy and dangerous (running, stumbling children & strollers everywhere) to get to a plate, much less food.Sitting on the balcony was very unpleasant due to screams echoing off the walls as children played on the lawns or in the pool area. Quiet in the room, not really. Running feet and tears left, right, below and on the stairs.Misleading advertising: Look at the photos the resort uses. See any photos of children in the pools, rooms or on the lawns? One written sentence includes "family resort".Five stars: No. Spacious rooms, yes.Clean: No. When we arrived our room wasn't ready and we were sent downstairs. On a visit to the restroom that services the pool and restaurant I found overflowing toilets (complete with fecal material) and "water" in the stalls and on the rest room floor. It was being tracked onto the pool deck, into the pool, the hallways, to the restaurant and upstairs.The upstairs waiting area, full of chrome and glass, was covered with fingerprints of the small variety. Cleaning that area clearly wasn't a priority.I complained to Booking.com, they called the hotel (four times) and didn't get a response. When I spoke to management I was told they hadn't heard from Booking. Further, if we didn't eat the breakfast (and we didn't) or didn't join the screaming children at the possibly contaminated pool or open the deck doors to the exterior, oh well, the "amenities" were available to us. I requested a credit for breakfast and the problems with the "facilities" and was told NO.Basically, we left in the morning to play golf; returned to shower then went out to dinner (and NOT at the resort).Value: No. I booked a romance package with breakfast.

Review 23：The best part of the hotel was the size of the room. Furnishings were three star, but the bed/sheets were good quality.

Review 24：Slightly too far to walk into town and back regularly, had a hire car so not bad for us but guess it would be a pain with no car. Taxi was 6-8 e to get back at night so not to bad.

Review 26：The wifi in the room was weak. The bar & restaurant lacked atmosphere so most people go to town every evening. Last shuttle bus to town is at 6 which leaves you at the mercy of the poor local taxi service or 20 minute walk (ok downhill on the way into town but up a steep hill coming back)

Review 27：This is a lovely complex with spacious, well-maintained accommodation. The swimming pool and its suroundings is very big with plenty of loungers. There is a decent gym, indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi which are an unexpected bonus.

Review 28：Was very hard to find, should be more signs of hotel in town. Water temperature in the pools should be warmer, especially that the resort is usually windier than downtown or coast Carvoeiro. Jacuzzi was also not hot enough at times. Breakfast was always the same and not very big selection.

Review 33：the apartment we had was not over looked - room 9 and we didn't share a balcony. It was very spacious. We arrived late on the Friday and were welcomed into the restaurant although they were stopping service in 10mins. reception staff were very helpful.

Review 34：the children's menu is good and the food was well done and tasty, for a 5 star resort, i'm not sure that the adult menu both buffet and A la Carte quite matches this, it was good but not exceptional.

Review 35：The resort is superb, townhouses were excellent with a great layout and lots of privacy, the private pools with the townhouses were also fantastic if you didn't want the bustle of the main pool, however this was never too busy and there were always loungers available. the local beer and wine were good and the fruit and vegetables in the area were absolutely delicious. the Waiting and Bar staff were excellent, really friendly and great with the children too.

Review 52：Our deluxe apartment was fantastic, spacious and modern with a large balcony and a large double sunbed. Our cleaners were excellent, they came in daily. We were a mature couple so there were too many kids for us but if I had kids I would go to Monte Santo in a heartbeat. You will need a car to explore but Carviero is a short walk and there are loads of restaurants.

Review 53：Last free shuttle into town was at 6pm. This should be later to accommodate people going out for dinner. Kitchen kit of washing up liquid, cloths, dishwasher tabs were €7.50.. These things should be provided free of charge. Food in restaurant of poor quality and over priced.

Review 79：We got a complaint about moving furniture around making loud noises disturbing the room underneath us. It was the chairs when we got in and out that made really loud noise which we werent aware off. However, one of the receptionist came pointing fingers at us telling us that we were being loud and told us that he will call the police if this happens again. Me a my friends apoligise to the guest but he should not have point at us and tell us off infront off other guest. This is very unprofessional!

We went in 2nd week of December. It was off season, so good value for money, but still much warmer and brighter than the UK and in fact wondered why this is an off season with such a lovely weather! In fact we enjoyed the lack of crowd on the roads and beaches. Hiring a car is a must to explore beautiful beaches around and the location of this resort is ideal to see algarve.

Review 107：We first stayed at monte santo a few years ago and agreed that we would love to come back again if we ever had kids. Well, that's just what we did in early September with our 5 month old. The resort is great. The apartments are well equipped and the pool, restaurant and bar areas are really nice. Lunch at the pool was pricey but to be fair was quite nice. We cooked dinner a few nites in the apartment. On the other nites we put our daughter in the buggy and headed to the restaurants that are about 20 minutes walk from the side entrance to the resort. This little collection of restaurants are similar in their offering and pretty much the same quality as you can get in the main town so it was perfect for us. Staff are friendly and the resort is very well maintained. My only gripe is that their is no wifi which for the price of the stay is a little bit annoying. Overall, can't wait to go back next year.

Review 112：We were staying in a 2 bed suite, it was very large and could accomadate us perfectly, we were travelling with 2 small kids and found the grounds secure and the facilities for young kids (2-3yrs) really good. The apartment was cleaned (spotless) everyday which was great and there was no shortage of towels/beach towels. The walk into town was approx 15-20 mins but it was a nice walk. Maybe next time might hire car but apart from this would not fault the resort in any way

Review 113：The sun loungers were reserved with a towel all day despite the rules. Poor lunchtime choices in restaurant. Our room was near the kids club, so it was quite noisy in the mornings. House Cleaning was done too late, after 4pm.

Door under sink was loose and the balcony furniture needed re varnished. Review 116：This was our 4th visit to Monte Santo And it didn't fail to live up to our expectations. The accommodation is wonderful, combining the best of self catering with the benefits of a hotel complex. We opted for breakfast included and it was excellent. We would certainly return on future visits to Carvoiero.

Review 120：The attention to detail in all aspects. It was my husbands birthday and he was presented with a cake. We were up graded upon arrival. The location was near enough to town but away from the hustle and bustle which meant the resort was perfect to relax and the kids were very well catered for. Excellent pool and always room around it. It food was top quality including the kids menu.

Review 121：We thought we were booking a 5 star hotel, in reality, Monte Santo is a self catering resort and does not have the services available at a 5 star hotel. Our lovely balcony was not really useable during the daytime as there was no shade/umbrella (or recliner) available. A simple awning or umbrella would have enabled guests to sit outside and enjoy the lovely weather in comfort. The other negative for us was that the room wasn't cleaned until mid-late afternoon, just when one wanted a siesta and the laundry service was somewhat eccentric. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this may not be the place for you, but if you want a pleasant high standard self catering experience then this is definitely a good place.

Review 126：On arrival the 5 people behind the reception desk ignored us, despite there being no one else waiting to check in. First impression was therefore poor. Waiting staff also too busy chatting to each other to bring wine list etc. Whilst most of the staff were pleasant, the service was not what you would expect for a 5 star resort. This left a nice apartment in a fairly soul-less resort and not very good service. I would go elsewhere.

Review 129：Monte Santo is a lovely, clean, safe and secure resort. The pool area is very well maintained as are the lovely gardens. Loved the night time wildlife sounds. The pool itself is large, spotless and never overcrowded. The pool staff is friendly and ever so helpful. The luxury family suites are really spacious, clean and well equipped. House keeping respond quickly to any requests. An ideal place for a lovely relaxing holiday.

Review 130：Wasn't overly impressed with "Trainee Receptionist" on initial contact .

Review 131：Our booking was made through " My booking.com" By using the above , Rates value for money. Apart from Trainee Receptionist the rest of the staff were very professional .

Review 133：Large 2 floor, townhouse, ample room for 4, AC in every room, fully equipped kitchen, quality food at the restaurant. Very pleasant stay. Would visit again

Review 134：Our apartment was not very well equipped and I think they should probably do an inventory,as in 5 star resorts you shouldn't have to ask for every thing you need i.e we had one knife in the knife block, two mugs,scissors that did not work and generally not very well appointed the general overall appearance was a bit unkempt for 5 stars.our balcony glass had children's hand prints all over it, I think they may have been short staffed or under staffed , the food was ok,just ok nothing special, and the pool areas very noisy with young children most if the time.More info could be given about the resort and surrounding areas and if your in the apartments near to the Brooke it's very noisy with frogs so you need to put your air conditioning on to drown out the noise, defiantly not a 5 star more like 4.

Please note that the Wi-Fi access is available in the clubhouse.Half-board dinner on New Year's night will be served in the room. To participate in New Year's Evening Dinner an extra cost of EUR 90 will be charged.For long-stay bookings (more than 15 nights), cleaning is done once a week and linens and towels are changed twice a week.
