Reviews for Locanda Leon Bianco
Review 1:The 'double bed' was simply two single beds pushed together which made for very uncomfortable sleeping. There is no bath to speak of but more of a sit in shower. The cleaning lady had never cleaned the room before 12am and on one day did not arrive at all. Unfortunately we had to leave a few days early as my daughter fell ill, when I asked for a refund this was declined even though I paid upfront in good faith for all of our stay. Did not get the city tax back either for the 3 days we left earlier. This is not a hotel but just a room, no room service available and 3 floors above the street.
Review 2:The good thing about the hotel was the location.
Review 3:All canal facing rooms are being refurbished- so they should look spanking new soon. I hope they replace the old blankets too- that was the only thing i did not like.
Review 4:Location- great Canal views. Breakfast in room was cosy.
Review 5:Nothing to complain. Was hoping to get the Grand Canal view room because it was our 20th anniversary but its ok. Just dont like the painting on the wall with bare chested ladies ;-)
Review 6:The room was massive and decorated in the typical Italian style. It was easy to explore Venice from there.
Review 7:Up 44 stairs. Host not on location to let later guests in who ended up sitting outside in the dark. Unlike as advertised, this is a 7 room B&B not a hotel. Breakfast (1 roll, 1 croissant + jam, Melba toast, coffee/tea) served in room by host whose aftershave scent lingered in the room for some time. Although near Rialto Bridge, location is down an unmarked alleyway, you have to find their name on the annunciator panel, wait to be buzzed in and then try to figure out that you have to climb to the 3rd floor. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Review 8:Location
Review 9:One window didn't have any bars on it, so you fall directly into the canal - not recommended for young children. Breakfast was delivered on a tray - a bit sparse, and would have like a kettle to make our own tea/coffee, but that the continentals for you...
Review 10:Great location, and our room was on the ground floor, right next to the canal, and we had gondoliers punting past our window - fantastic.
Review 11:lots of steps difficult to locate - if you miss the email?
Review 12:view from the room price and value for money spaciousness and facilities of room location of property breakfast in room
Review 13:Locanda Leon Bianco is a fab hotel. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the Rialto Bridge and some brilliant restaurants. The staff were very warm and friendly. Breakfast was brought to our room every morning. The room was clean, large with a very comfortable bed. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Venice. Highly recommended.
Review 14:very old room (torn window curtains), incredibly loud air con, and the noise of boats on the small canal in the morning is just killing it... the floor could be cleaner too, but overall I can say it was clean enough (just enough).
Review 15:Great location couple of steps away from the city's main attractions. Nice breakfast and helpful staff. Quite good place for 1-2 day stay.
Review 16:Nothing much frankly. May be the poor reception of Wi Fi(but this could be because our room was in the ground floor), and the AC which took quite a while to cool the room
Review 17:Cetral Location of the hotel (next to Rialto and Campo Santi Apostoli from where the highly recommended free walking tour starts), Canal visible from the room window, Host/Owner- Stefano, who was kind enough to let us use the washroom before the room was ready to checkin(we took the overnight train from Vienna), also allowed us to leave the luggage after checkout as our train was in the late evening
Review 18:single beds pushed together to make a double
Review 19:really great location and the room we had facing the grand canal was superb. staff were helpful and friendly .
Review 20:Breakfast is really really simple and such a hotel should be ashamed of giving guests the most horrible coffee and cappuccino you will get in whole Italy, which you have to order the night before. The orange juice was also not good, not freshly squeezed. Triple room we stayed in has no view to grand canal. During check in and check out owner was on the phone the whole time, although he mentioned he was trying to solve a very important issue (it had to be more important than his guests). Air conditioning was good but we were told not to change the settings, which can make room really cold during night.
Review 21:Location Air conditioning Spacious room Wi-Fi (our room was next to a router/repeater)
Review 22:The hotel was on 3rd floor with no elevator facilities. It was a pain carrying up the heavy bags and baggage. Breakfast served in the room was very very limited.
Review 23:Friendly staff. The room was huge (junior suite with courtyard view ) and very clean. Having breakfast bought to the room every morning was lovely. Would definitely recommend
Review 24:Given bottom floor so no wifi. Also right next to one of the busiest supply canals so boat traffic till 2400 and starting at 0500. Emailed property 2x about check in and room request, no response.
Review 25:Location great, staff friendly, breakfast supplied.
Review 26:The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Clean towels every day and bed made. It was nice to have breakfast brought to the room each morning so there was no rush to get up and out . The location is great, right in the middle of every thing yet the room was quiet. We were in room 5 which overlooks one of the side canals where the gondolos would ride through every now and then. It was lovely. Would thoroughly recommend this accomodation .
Review 27:The room is a bit old and nothing. It is just a place to stay.
Review 28:During my stay, I cannot find hotel at this price much so I think it is acceptable hotel to stay for short period. The best thing is location, it is reachable from port
Review 29:It was in the centre of everything that was happening, perfect location and easy to get to. The staff were welcoming and breakfast to the room was a perfect touch!
Review 30:Great location, good service, warm, clean, cozy, comfortable... the Staff is ready to help in any situation and is very friendly. Older people need to consider that the hotel has no Elevator and you have to climb the stairs to the second floor. But overall impression is very good.
Review 31:The property is located on the 3rd floor and so there are lots of steps to get up to it.
Review 32:We had two canal view rooms, the view was stunning, you could see the Rialto bridge from the windows and the market was opposite. The rooms were an excellent size and both with an excellent ensuite. Breakfast was also good and delivered to your room. Excellent stay!
Review 33:Front desk staff - too gruff and pushy. My wife had our key and I went back to the room thinking the front desk would let me in. That's when I realized they keep odd hours...so there I am locked out and had to go to the bathroom....Mannaggia tua!!!!!
Review 34:View of grand canal from terrace
Review 35:the location was perfect and we could walk everywhere easily. our host was most knowledgeable and helpful and we had a lovely room on the side canal.
Review 36:Disgusting breakfast in your own disgusting room Dirty building that had a bad smell Too expensive for poor room and service Filthy curtains in the bedroom and bathroom Electricity dangerous as too many appliances in one socket
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:Great location on the Grand Canal. Walking distance to all sights in Venice. Hotel is quite basic but perfectly functional for touring. Great host who couldn't do enough, from room service breakfast, recommending the best walking routes, to holding onto our luggage after checkout. Recommended
Review 39:The single drawback is that there is no lift, only a few flights of stairs. Lifting heavy luggage up and down the stairs is not ideal, and if that is a challenge from a physical standpoint, then I do not recommend staying here, because the stairs can be daunting. If luggage is not an issue, then you will find yourself charmed and comfortable.
Review 40:Located overlooking the Grand Canal, the Locanda Leon Bianco is a bit of the old world combined with a bit of the new. The remodeling that has been done is tasteful and crisp, retaining the charm and yet bringing the speace up to the present day. Owner Stefano brought breakfast to us each morning, and his little dog Kiko was always on hand to welcome us. In the evening, I could sit in the window and watch the boats go by; passengers would wave at me, and I would wave back as though I was a native Venetian! This is a charming and comfortable place, and I would recommend it to anyone. Bravo, Stefano!
Review 41:The building was old but the location was great. The room we stayed in had a view of the small canal. The room was a good size and the hot water and wifi were great. Short walk to Rialto bridge and San Marco square. Shops very close by.
Review 42:The room was very basic, perhaps that is normal for Venice. The bathroom was very small, the shower was extremely small but again, could be normal for Venice the bed was 2 single beds attached together and when sleeping, the bed kept separating, creating a gap in the middle. this was uncomfortable.
Review 43:I liked the location, the owner responded quickly to my emails and gave great directions. Breakfast was included and brought to your room. It was great for a one night stay.
Review 44:The inn keeper was a nice, gentle man, but he didn't seem like he really cared to court us, per se. We asked for advice on great local seafood and he sent us across the street. It was fine, but touristy. He just seemed a bit like he couldn't be bothered to host us a little more personably. The bed was supposed to be a double, but it was two beds pushed together. Just makes for a bit of interrupted sleep. Also, I wished the balcony window had a screen. It was lovely having the windows open at night, but the mosquitos in August are miserable at night. It could probably be an easy fix to add screens to the windows so you can enjoy the feature of the great big open windows and sleep through the night.
Review 45:Breakfast was perfectly on time. The coffee was delicious. It was a cute little serving on a silver tray. That was a very nice touch. The building has lovely old Venetian charm, and it's nice that it's a small, local B&B. Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed in the room. The location gave us access to everything we felt like we wanted to see.
Review 46:Nothing - everything very special.
Review 47:A very special place with a spectacular view of the Grand Canal. Lots of charm and atmosphere - great place to watch the world go by. Much more than a place to sleep - certainly not just a hotel - an unforgettable experience. Got up early just to watch Venice wake-up - had breakfast watching the early morning hustle and bustle of the market place.
Review 48:Alley main entry to hotel scary (dirty, dark, rundown) Shower door broken, shower not robust Our room at least not on Grand Canal but smaller "side street" canal
Review 49:Room large Breakfast adequate Staff nice
Review 50:There was nothing we did not love about the Locando.
Review 51:Stefano had emailed excellent directions prior to our visit. So it was wonderful to not waste any time, or steps, in finding the place. The room description had said that it would overlook a small canal - it was right on the Grand Canal! What a pleasant surprise! Beautiful room, wonderful breakfast, and Stefano could not have been more helpful.
Review 52:Room could be updated slightly. Shower bumps into toilet.
Review 53:View of the Grand Canal is fabulous. Easy access to restaurants, walking distances to St Mark's. Hundreds of restaurants nearby.
Review 54:Locanda Leon Bianco is located close to the boat stop and right along the Grand Canal in Venice. Our host, Stefano, was gracious and helpful. The room was clean and had air conditioning, which was a welcome amenity during the warm weather we encounter while there. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return in the future!
Review 55:It was extremely clean, good location, very silent and helpful staff. Nothing to complain.
Review 56:N/A
Review 57:Friendly staff Breakfast included in price Good location - half way between train station and St. Marcos square Big room
Review 58:Amazing place, very close to both the ferry dock and Rialto Bridge.
Review 59:actually we stayed in an old inn not a hotel!!
Review 60:location
Review 61:Great location on the Grand Canal. Apartment feel. Clean and comfortable, but not luxurious.
Review 62:Unbeatable location on the grand canal. Wonderful and very accommodating host.
Review 63:Shame there was no lift as we had to carry our luggage!
Review 64:The view over the grand canal was lovely.
Review 65:It was conveniently located to everything we wanted to see. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was conveniently delivered to your room.
Review 66:We had a fantastic view of the Grand Canal that we were not expecting. The staff was friendly and the location was good.
Review 67:Location, facilities, room, service, bed, breakfast
Review 68:The front facing rooms have the most incredible views over the grand canal. Sit and watch the world drift by.
Review 69:We loved everything about this hotel ,I recommend whole heatedly !!!
Review 70:Fabulous view onto the Grand Canal with all its activity. Breakfast in the room was a treat. Very helpful, friendly owner. Will definitely be back!
Review 71:Noise from adjoining residences.
Review 72:Accommodating staff
Review 73:Sergio made us so welcome and was so helpful. A lovely person. Hotel in very central position. Very interesting hotel with amazing mural on our all
Review 74:There were mosquitoes at night.
Review 75:Location, breakfast, place was clean. Staffvery helpful with tourism questions
Review 76:The location superb.Stefano and his son Roberto excellent hosts.A piece of history at an affordable price.
Review 77:Great location and view!!!!
Review 78:Room was great with a little balcony overlooking the main canal and very roomy. Great instructions for arrival. Quiet room
Review 79:no fruit or yoghurt with breakfast steps (after a long day)
Review 80:support from Stefano the owner great location excellent view big room & comfortable bed
Review 81:Entrance to the hotel not good, room run down, floor squeaking, not sufficient toiletries in the bathroom, bathroom too small, air con not working well
Review 82:The location is good, view of the canal
Review 83:Had to pay for Wifi - it's the 21st century, I've stayed at worse places than this and had free wifi! €2 for an hour! Old beds, clogged shower drain, basic breakfast.
Review 84:Great location, basic room, but everything you need. 5 min walk to Rialto bridge and 8 min walk to S.Marco. Very lovely staff, and beautiful coffee! Heaps of restaurants and shopping around if needed.
Review 85:I am not a fussy sleeper but the bed felt like concert and I found it hard to sleep at night. The breakfast was less than average and would be better to not have it included. Venice is an expensive city so in terms of venice it is about what you would expect but I would not pay what I paid to stay here again but then we did not have a cannel facing room so perhaps if you paid extra for that then it may be worth it.
Review 86:Location was great to see everything in venice and the room was clean and large.
Review 87:We did not like the noiseiness at night, boats going past, church bells constantly ringing. This was the only fault.
Review 88:We really liked the welcome from staff, and friendlieness, and also the location was perfect, rite in the the centre of Venice.
Review 89:The bed was a bit hard and not level. We seriously slid towards the end during the night. Should be fixed. And would be easy to fix even though the floor was uneven. The room was cold the first night.
Review 90:Located in a nice and lively part of Venice with a good mix of local vibe and tourists. Breakfast right on time to the room. The croissant and bread was hot. Big bathroom and the room was huge and had a funky mural and chandelier. Considerate about our need for heat in the room and turned it on.
Review 91:Breakfast, No cups or tea making facilities
Review 92:The location overlooking the grand canal was great easy walk to Rialto Bridge with supermarket close by. The building is an historical building with access via couple flights of stairs. Across the canal is the markets which is worth a visit. Breakfast could have been better. Maybe a place could be set aside for an urn or tea making facilities
Review 93:Doors between the rooms, so that you hear the noise from adjacent rooms.
Review 94:Everyone has different priorities and my highest priority is always a room's view. In this respect this was the best hotel room I've ever been. (Of course you have to chose a room with Canal view!)
Review 95:nothing
Review 96:pierpaolo the host was very cordial and informative, the breakfast was fantastic with a lot of unexpected tasty surprises and their was a continuous opportunity to sample free coffee, tidbits, fruit, etc.
Review 97:There was no staff at the reception after mid day and to seek some help/advice it was bit difficult and we had to go out for help.
Review 98:I like the location of the place that is just within easy reach of all ameneties and in the centre of the main area. The room was maintained clean on daily basis and the breakfast was served in the room on time.
Review 99:The bed was very uncomfortable, quite lumpy and hard.
Review 100:We were very happy with Locanda Leon Bianco. The location was very central, ideal for our 2 night stay. The room was clean, tidy, nice decor and well appointed and very spacious. The staff were helpful, friendly and professional.
Review 101:Like I mentioned, the location means noisey - but for some people, thatis okay. The hotel is also very sparsely decorated. Very large rooms, very little furniture. The breakfast is also served in your room, whichmeans you have to arrange for the time of your breakfast the nightbefore. Additionally, the walls are thin and we could hear the personcoughing (all night) in the room next door. Overall, we didn't findthe price of the location to be worth the cost. We have stayed before inlovely places in Venice which were not on the Grand Canal, and preferredthem to this hotel.
Review 102:The location is right on the Grand Canal, if that is what you arelooking for, but you should be warned that that means it will be loudall the time. Its perfect for walking anywhere in the central area.
Review 103:our room did not look anything like the rooms I had seen on line. A little gothic. Having said that, the building is very old. The room is huge! It is expensive but all of Venice is expensive!
Review 104:Very close to the Rialto Bridge, easy to walk around Venice. Host was very nice and breakfast was delicious, simple but very good.
Review 105:I did not like how difficult it was to find the location. Inspite of informing prior to arrival that we were coming on an overnight train and headed on a tour, the room was not ready. Also, the electricity was fine and the host was a tad rude when we tried to ask for help.
Review 106:Loved the view of the canals from the room.
Review 107:the floor was not clean. toilet was not clean. water pressure at the shower was so small that shower was almost impossible. almost everything in the room is old.
Review 108:location only
Review 109:Room was spacious and well appointed. We were given excellent instructions to find the Locanda and were happy to be in a location where we could walk to everywhere we needed.
Review 110:Courtyard view room not really looking over a courtyard but an alley. Alot of stairs
Review 111:Location is excellent. Views from the canal view rooms breathtaking. Many nice places to eat nearby
Review 112:The owner of Locanda Leon Bianco was not friendly. No lift at the accommodation. Have to carry our own luggage to reception. 50 stairs to climb wih heavy suitcases.
Review 113:Love Venice Location good.
Review 114:Bathroom could do with a little updating. Toilet seat broken. Breakfast good and served in the room but could do with a bit more butter and some fresh fruit or yogurt.
Review 115:Great location. Friendly owner. Large room with fantastic view of the Grand Canal. Could instructions to get there.
Review 116:breakfast; Stefano could incorporate, cheese, ham etc not really our idea of breakfast 2 crousants, 2 tiny bread rolls toast in packed too dry
Review 117:room was very spacious, clean and location good
Review 118:Had to carry luggage up three flights of very, very steep stairs, very inconvenient for travelers Air conditioning was some old mobile appliance with its exhaust pipe plugged through the wall, not enough to cool the room in August, was more like a fan really Rooms we got looked old, had thin mattresses and pillows, we did not look forward to coming "home" after a tiring day of going around Venice We were charged a city tax when our booking clearly stated that this was not applicable, plus we were asked to pay for the city tax in cash separate from our room bill (which we paid through credit card) but was not issued a receipt for it
Review 119:Location - near a vaporetto stop free wifi
Review 120:Rooms are spartan, some light bulbs do not work bed thin and minimal cheap furniture. Pretty much passed on the breakfast and went to local cafes. It is difficult to find with luggage in tow. You should be physically fit to pull bags and walk up the stairs. For the money I probably could have done better and while my stay was fine I do not think I would stay here again.
Review 121:Location is great, close to some of the major sites but near local restaurants and grocery store. Ok view of the grand canal..apparently room 4 offers the best view. Staff friendly. Flight delayed 3 hours and somebody was there to check me in. Tucked away in a private alley which I actually liked. Physically fit so the stairs were not an issue.
Review 122:Poor breakfast in rooms, old hotel, very bad smell at its entrance. Hard to find for the first time. Too many stairs to reach the room with no elevator.
Review 123:3 mn walk to the boat station. Free Wifi. Big rooms.
