Reviews for Quinta Do Paraiso - AL

Review 1:For the price I paid there was no really bad experience. The little patio area outside my room was very tiny and only had the sun until around 11.30am (picky to complain about that as there was plenty of space around the pool which was only 25 metres away). The modern shower had the huge shower head set in the ceiling and a hand held shower head you could switch to; if you want to be picky, having no riser rail for the shower rail makes it a bit awkward for children and adults who don't wish to wash their hair every time they shower (which I don't always want to do). However many wet/shower rooms have this issue and I really think that designers do not think this through - riser rails are much more convenient. No deep drawers for your underwear or tops that didn't need to be hung is a draw back - but I have holidayed in other countries which struggle to provide you with a wardrobe! It did take me a few days to orient myself with the exact location of my room and I found myself wandering around - what I knew to be the vicinity of it a few times before locating it - the paths are all very similar. The walk (downhill) into town was not too hard - around 20 minutes at a steady pace, lovely scenery for 10 minutes of it too. You need flat, good walking shoes.

Review 2:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were kept very clean. The room was a bit of a mish mash of dated and trendy (unfunctional) pieces, but the bathroom/wet room was modern and new. No problems at all with plenty hot water available but you do have to 'paddle' after showering with these types of bathrooms. It is a very large complex, with lots of villas as well as rooms. It was a steep, 8 minute walk to reception from my room - fine going down but a bit of a pull going back up. You need to be quite fit to stay here - it would definitely not suit disabled people - so glad I didn't have my Mom in her wheelchair to push around here! As I was on my own in my twin room I really appreciated the fact that there were English TV channels available - I very rarely watch the rubbish that is on morning TV - but I did find it comforting to have on. The food is not fantastic but it is edible (apart from the pork cheeks which I really struggled with). You would have to be really picky to go hungry as there was a choice of fish or meat, along with rice and potatoes and vegetables (although broccoli and cauliflower seemed to be the stapl veg) each night and breakfast had cereals/toast/croissants/fresh fruit/yogurts/cheese/salami and toast.

Review 3:- The pool water was absolutely freezing cold and the pools themselves needed a little more by way of maintenance. - The quality of the food was not fantastic and really lacked flavour (although, not salt!) and there was an overall lack of variety in what was offered. - The location to Carvoeiro beach was about a 25 minute+ walk (and I walk with pace!) - Limited accomodation based activities: Quinta do Paraiso could do with providing some more activities and improved facilities for sports /fitness. - Very disappointed with the lack of quality local food and produce. Very anglofied menus, the idea of going abroad to eat ham and cheese toasties with chips befuddles me. Yes, I'm English by the way!

Review 4:- All members of staff were excellent, friendly, funny and helpful. - My room was lightly serviced daily throughout my stay. - The selection of pools to choose from. However can imagine it may be mayhem during the height of season if fully occupied.

Review 5:Old-fashioned and unclean facilities. Our bedroom didn't match the pictures presented on the booking website. Bathroom smelt bad and the floor was scratched. Above the toilet flush there was a sign stating that the guest had to pay the repair in case of a clog. Fridge was noisy, I had a hard time sleeping. TV didn't work. Wi-Fi network was inaccessible. Lack of professionalism. Abusive entrance in our bedroom despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign. Cleaning lady erroneously thought we were past our check-out time (we still had 1 day left) and removed our clothes, hygiene products, our food and beverages from the room. Shameful attitude. We contacted the hotel reception and they acknowledged their mistake, apologized and returned our stuff, except for the food and beverages which they mentioned were already in the garbage. What a waste of 4 fresh tasty beers! I'd never recommend this hotel to my friends. It's far from being a 4-star hotel. Needless to say, I won't be staying here ever again.

Review 6:Nothing.

Review 7:The staff were really friendly, the food was great and we really enjoyed our second stay at the resort. When we asked for additional facilities like a kettle in our room this appeared straight away!

Review 8:Sun beds were very uncomfortable Took forever to be served at main bar. Due to lack of staff.

Review 9:Only a 10-15 min walk into town. Overall it was an reasonable stay.

Review 10:There is a VERY steep 5min walk to reception which had to be done twice daily for food. Anyone with hip or any walking problems would struggle with this. At night it was very dark walking back and quite lonely as there was just two of us girls. Also the WiFi is very unreliable.

Review 11:We were away from reception but the had a lovely pool beside us. It was lovely and quiet. Also the apartments were really nice with plasma. Staff were lovely too. Only downside is our pool only had a bar open from 1-5 daily.

Review 12:beds very hard, tired old accommodation not set up for apartment style, Internet non existent. Pool dirty filters not running. No double bed when requested and no safe as advertised. Basic and dirty.

Review 13:Not much

Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is erg goed!!

Review 15:-quite old furnishings (for ex. smelly wardrobe) -ants in the bathroom -very poor wifi -no air con!!!

Review 16:-main swimming pool area -the whole complex is maintained in a very nice way (flowers etc) -quiet area (unless you have noisy tourists next door) -very comfy beds -lovely italian restaurant right next to reception

Review 17:Mini market - nothing special in it and very dear. wifi- I had problem to connect it was unconnected itself after few min . poor quality. In my aprt. I heard neighbors talk true the doors

Review 18:Amenities on site. Welcome from staff. Generally quite. Reasonably close to the town.Carvoeiro is a lovely friendly town with lots of good bars and restaurants. The shuttle bus its helpful.

Review 19:Dated villa. No pool. Noisy when gardeners were working early in the morning.

Review 20:Amenities on site. Welcome from staff. Generally quite. Reasonably close to the town.

Review 21:just a little bit far from town and a stiff hill to climb on way back from tow.i suggest walking into town and take shuttle bus or taxi back

Review 22:very relaxing place to stay, good service and food and drinks were always very enjoyable

Review 23:Bungalow a little dated in living room, could do with some light modern furniture though everything was in good condition. One receptionist unhelpful when asked for help in confirming transfer.

Review 24:Friendly fun bar staff especially Ricardo . Spacious, clean, tidy attractive grounds, never crowded particularly around top pool .Requested quiet private bungalow with BBQ and received this. Pleasant patio and garden. Most reception staff very helpful. Perfect location for us, beaches and Carvoeiro centre within walking distance, no need for a car.

Review 25:The shop was very expensive and many of the freezers were empty during our stay. There was sometimes a lot of noise around the other apartments. It would have been useful to have more information in the apartment pack about location of bins, recycling etc. And the TV only worked properly on one channel. We had no sound on the others. Chris tried hard to sort this out but it was never resolved.

Review 26:Carvoeiro is a lovely friendly town with lots of good bars and restaurants. Most staff were very friendly and helpful and fun! Our T1 superior apartment was lovely and spacious and we loved having a little garden and a view to the pool. The cleaners were very friendly and unintrusive. The mini bus shuttle was a very useful free facility for the lazy teenagers in my family! I, however, loved the walks to and from and around Carvoeiro! We would stay at Quinta Do Paraiso again!

Review 27:quite a walk to local town wifi: advertised as having wi-fi but signal only just detectable in garden and even when connected speed extremely slow, not fixed despite 2 complaints to reception

Review 28:lovely villa

Review 29:Staff in particular Conni very rude. No sunbeds at pool and if you sat at Caravela area you were pestered to buy a drink. Shuttle did not run enough during day and therefore had to taxi all the time and with family of 5 this was so hard to get and fares varied for same journey. Hiring a car on dangerous roads out of question. Supermarket on site a total rip off selling lidl branded items at up to 200% more and Supermarche goods also inflated. Wifi very bad. My husband had to fix fly screen on both windows in villa and light bulbs blown. Sheets on double bed did not fit. Also had to clean out bbq on patio. Steep hills.

Review 30:Well equipped kitchen even had mugs for a cuppa. The CLEANING STAFF AND BUS DRIVER were very pleasant with a smile and a hello (Unlike reception and pool staff)

Review 59:Unfriendly hostel owner. We booked a more expensive room with ocean view, i was able to confirm it via email , but he just gave us a room with a view into the backspace

Review 60:Nice breakfast. Poolside, comfortable public chilling zone

Review 61:The fact that we booked a double room and got a twin. There was no kettle in the kitchen. There was only one small pillow each. There were remote controls for a TV, but no TV!

Review 62:The ease of getting to the town

Review 63:I would only recommend this place for familes with small children. The resort is a bit far away from the village.

Review 64:The appartment was very nice and well equipted.

Review 65:Kids swimming pool should be cleaned more often. The apartments weren't best in class (example the sofa should be changed) but was an overall good experience.
