Reviews for Al Gazzettino

Review 1:the staff was hard to find and almost always absent from the reception

Review 2:very nice location, the room was very clean and spacy, definitely value for money

Review 3:The room had not really daylight. The view from the window was a wall. This is the standard room.So book this not. The breakfast is ok. Ome time we had breakfast at 9:30 and the bread was out. The breakfast is from 8:00 till 10:00..?

Review 4:the location is great!! cleaning was very good and the bed super

Review 5:No elevator.

Review 6:Perfect location, 3 minutes walk from Rialto bridge and about 5-7 minutes to San Marco square, the room was good, big with view to canal and wooden floor, in traditional Venetian stile, breakfast was also good, especially scrambled eggs and bacon.

Review 7:The room was quite cold even with heating on, especially the tiled floor (wear slippers! :)) the bed was very grand and looked lovely but not particularly comfortable. We read great reviews about the hotel restaurant however we were disappointed. Food was great but service and atmosphere was terrible and the price was quite high for what you get. The restaurant was very cold and the staff really rushed us. Also the breakfast was awful. Not worth the money.

Review 8:Beautiful canal view from the window, great location near San Marcos sq and Rialto bridge. Huge room with beautiful Venetian decor, modern bathroom with power shower, complimentary prosecco on arrival as we were on our honeymoon. We went to Venice in December and it was perfect- no crowds, not too cold and lovely festive atmosphere :)

Review 9:We enjoyed are staying at this nice hotel in Venice! The location is perfect. Very clean and nice room! Our view at the canal was an amazing experience. The ladies at the reception were very helpfull and friendly! Easy to get from the Stazione Venice with the Vaporette. Greetzz from Amsterdam

Review 10:Breakfast didn't start till 8am so it wasn't possible to have breakfast if you had an early start.

Review 11:The location was excellent and the restaurant below was absolutely amazing.

Review 12:No lift.

Review 13:Fantastic hotel. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. On second floor with no lift but this was not a problem. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't have been better, very central to everything. Would recommend highly.

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:Great service and was surprised with a bottle of prosecco in our room when arrived as we were there for special occasion. Location was perfect close to everything. Restaurant of the hotel next door was great food. Great canal view room aswell, would stay again.

Review 16:Breakfast doesn't start till 8am so if you need to get going early you miss out.

Review 17:Great little hotel in the heart of Venice. The wifi was reliable, the staff helpful, beds comfortable and the breakfast excellent. We could see gondolas passing by our bedroom window! The restaurant next door of the same name is simply outstanding. We went twice it was so good - best meals we had in Italy

Review 18:The room had dark green wallpaper and had dim lights which made it seem dark all the time.

Review 19:Location was great to walk to Rialto and St Marks Square. Big room with view of canal. Good breakfast and good coffee.

Review 20:No help with luggage. No magnifying mirror in the bathroom no full length mirror for dressing.

Review 21:Friendly stAff. Clean room location restRaunt was great.food and friendly staff. Location was very nice

Review 22:Nothing!

Review 23:Location is perfect! Right in the heart of San Marco. Near shopping, transportation, and restaurants. Beautifully decorated, on a quiet street, with a wonderful little restaurant attached that serves a complimentary breakfast

Review 24:Poor reception area and although we got to breakfast 20 mins before it ended a rather aggressive woman started clearing the tables around us and preparing for lunch ...were not asked if we were finished before clearing breakfast away

Review 25:We had a lovely room overlooking the canal.....girl at reception very helpful

Review 26:This is a great little hotel in the heart of Venice. The location is fantastic - close to all the main attractions. The rooms are charming and very clean, and everyone on reception was very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast (served in the restaurant next door) is also very nice and good value. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Review 27:No elevator but we understand that it was the design of the building. We also got help taking up one of the bags.

Review 28:The location was very centrally located and an easy walk anywhere in Venice. The lady that checked us in was very friendly and even assisted with carrying a bag upstairs. The breakfast was also very good. The room and bed were excellent. The bathroom was was also clean and with a spacious shower

Review 29:this is the worst hotel I booked. No breakfast, and the reception staff is very rude, and no charge adapter to offer. It is not worth the high price. There is no staff for service at night, which is very very inconvenient.

Review 30:No!

Review 31:Nothing

Review 32:We were in Venice 2 nights and perfect location half way between Rialto bridge and at Marc's .. Having own little canal outside to pick up gondellla away from crowds was a fabulous surprise! Loved it

Review 33:The week we were here the temperatures were 40C/100+F The A/C in our room was strong and consistent which we greatly appreciated. The bathroom was very modern, clean with a good amount of towels. The beds were comfortable and room spacious. The location is very good - central to Rialto Bridge. It was a little confusing to find the hotel and we ended up walking through the Al Gazzettino restaurant to get to it but not really a problem.

Review 34:Our room on the 3rd floor was directly underneath the faulty aged electricity generator on the floor above. This kept us awake all night - this was a known fault - we were moved to the 4th floor for the following 4 nights.

Review 35:Our room was on the 3rd floor and since the hotel does not have an elevator, it was difficult to climb the stairs with all the luggage. Also, from the 3rd floor, you cannot really see the canal from the window - we could only see the building across the hotel. In order to see the canal, I had to stand up on a chair by the window and stretch and look down - it is possible that the view from one of the lower floors might be better. We had booked a quadruple room as we travelled with our boys 12 and 15. The beds were crammed in and there wasn't sufficient space to walk around. A larger room would have been better. The room had very little toilet paper and a spare roll was not provided. The front desk people leave at around 8PM and there is no staff available at night.

Review 36:Location of this hotel is great! You can walk to all places of interest in venice easily as well to a number of different ferry stops. The people at the front desk were very friendly and provided good tips on places to eat and tour options. I was leaning towards not visiting Burano and only going to Murano but the person at the front desk pulled up pictures of Burano and our kids wanted to visit the island. When we got there, it was very beautiful and peaceful and I am glad we included it as part of our trip.

Review 37:No lift, especially for two huge luggage.

Review 38:Very good location, near San Marco square. The breakfast is amazing, great taste of cuppucino. Room is classical style.

Review 39:Very poor breakfast. "Hot" food was cold. Staff attitude when an earlier than 8am breakfast was needed due to departure.

Review 40:Location. Bathroom was spacious.

Review 41:No kettle in room even though advertised. No tea making facility available even though mentioned in room information booklet. Breakfast served from 8am - we had an early start and were promised a breakfast box, but this didn't materialise.

Review 42:Location, air conditioning

Review 43:The location of the hotel is excellent and it is easy to find. A short walk from the water taxi. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room overlooking canal.

Review 44:no issues.

Review 45:a small hotel right in the heart of Venice. We had a room with a canal view/small verandah. The room was quiet & clean, and we loved the decore. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We received a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival. One of the best hotel that we stayed in during our 8 week trip.

Review 46:They did not provide breakfast although it was included in room rate. The receptionist was very arrogant and refused even to give discount due to missing breakfast on their fault. Finally agreed not to bill us for the city tax which was in fact much less than the value of a breakfast.

Review 47:Location, clean and quiet room.

Review 48:They wouldn't let me into Harry's Bar as I wasn't wearing long trousers!

Review 49:Lovely buildings, great people, wonderful food and drink, historic site, easy to get around either by walking or by waterbus.

Review 50:When we arrived the first night there was no light in our room. Therewas nobody to talk to to try to fix this. We went to sleep and atmidnight the owner of the hotel waked up every single guest going roomby room to check where the problem of the lights in the hoteloriginated. Unbelievable !!!!!!

Review 51:The best thing this hotel has is the location and staff are veryfriendly (when they are available).

Review 52:Room was basic, but I would stay again.

Review 53:The location is perfect, for restaurants, shopping public transport. Staff were very helpful. Accommodation very clean.

Review 54:No elevator. No ice machine or frig. Couldn't check out until 8am & then front desk girl was late arriving for that. From first floor room we couldn't really see the canal very well from our supposed "canal view" room.

Review 55:Good location. Strong WIFI. FABULOUS free breakfast with eggs, bacon, meats, and much more. Very large room. Large shower. Girl carried my heavy bag upstairs since there is no elevator.

Review 56:The hotel was perfectly situated for the grand canal and central venice sight seeing. It was a only a few minutes walk to the Rialto Bridge and St Marks square.

Review 57:Wifi had weak signal Breakfast was average- however this was included in price of accommodation

Review 58:Location and proximity to transport Coffee was great at breakfast

Review 59:Small room, hopeless wifi and horrible breakfast. I guess you're paying for location and nothing else. Oh, and the mozzie... stung everywhere while in the bathroom and sleeping, for 3 nights.

Review 60:Central in San Marco. Within 5 mins walk to Saint Marks square and a stroll to a lot of amazing Italian retailors.

Review 61:The hallway smells like fish . The receptionist ( Amy ?) was not curtious and not friendly . Was not willing to accommodate our request

Review 62:Good location and descent accommodation

Review 63:was awoken one night by the owner following a power cut but the staff were very apologetic the following day.

Review 64:The location was ideal, when we had managed to find our way around the maze of little alley ways. The bedroom was very clean and attended to every day on our visit. The staff were fabulous, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of choice at breakfast could not fault it.

Review 65:The room and entire hotel smelled really bad. Unhygienic. Had a not so comfortable night here. The deluxe room is not worth the prize!

Review 66:Location is good

Review 67:The stairs and no elevator. Difficult to bring luggage up.

Review 68:The location was excellent. It was difficult to find so I suggest bringing a map to get there.

Review 69:Everything, every single thing, was great with this hotel. They did their BEST for us. They made our honeymoon! We do recommend Al Gazzettino and do come back to the hotel later.

Review 70:Not really a complaint but take a detailed map of where it is, the entrance is in small street, which is not easy to find, Calle Mezzo.

Review 71:It is a simple but stylish hotel and is in very centre of S Marco district, very easy to walk anywhere but also a quiet ambiance. The staff are very helpful.

Review 72:hard to find. get a map and/or map your route before you get to venice. Easiest way to get there would be from Rialto bridge.

Review 73:- for the price this place is great!! the location is close to a lot of the famous sights - deluxe double room was very spacious ( for venice standards) and bathroom ( and shower) were huge! - breakfast is okkk .... didn't expect more for the price we paid.

Review 74:Fantastic location with a wonderful balkony view over the channels. The room interiour was as beautiful as the hotel pictures suggest, with modern and clean bathroom facilities.

Review 75:The only bad thing with our stay, was our bed at room 215. The bed was much too hard.

Review 76:Great location! close to everything. Close to the boat for the airport, only 5-10 minutes walk. Very clean hotel.

Review 77:- Stairs, if you care. Should be pretty common problem for Venice - Hotel might be hard to find (addresses are meaningless in this city), so have a map with you

Review 78:Great location just few blocks away from St. Marco. Given the price paid vs other places nearby, I expected less. Actually, everything was completely fine: - clean - comfortable bed - decent breakfast (nothing special, but filling and orange juice maker was nice) - Wifi was flawless

Review 79:There was no elevator and no staff to help with the luggage after a looong trip with big luggage and a small child. Reception staff are not available at night. Were not also there when we checked out at noon.

Review 80:We got the room with balcony and canal view. That made it up for anything we did not like. The room was beautiful and the view breathtaking. Bathroom very good and clean. The buffet breakfast was amazing and very diverse. Lunch and dinner is great at Al Gazettino Restaurant. The restaurant owner is super friendly and nice.

Review 81:All was great

Review 82:Friendly staff, great room with balkony and view on a canal with bridges. We even got a free bottle of wine upon our arrival. We had luck, sunshine in low season. Not many tourists. The hotel is extremely near to the the main attractions.

Review 83:Staff were excellent- Always a good morning/afternoon etc, showed us too the room, very friendly. On the final day there was flooding in Venice and the lady on reception asked if we were leaving as we would struggle to move without protection on our feet, she kindly offered to let us borrow her wellingtons to my girlfriend, another member offered me his wellingtons. This was a great service and they went over and beyond. The room was cleaned daily Good view onto the canal from floor 2 Location is 5 minutes from Rialto and 5 minutes to San Marco square

Review 84:This centrally located hotel had an extremely friendly staff that was ready to help us with whatever information we needed. The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed and lovely heating system. The breakfast was great as well.

Review 85:I liked everything about hotel^ location, room, its facilities and helpfulness of stuff. And it was really quiet in the room. Breakfast was not copious, but tasty.

Review 86:1. The wifi is quite weak, as we cannot update in instagram. Luckily we can get thru whatsapp. 2. Water supply for room needs a filter. The water we boiled for drinking is quite muddy n turbid.

Review 87:Location is very good, near to shops and canal for viewing. We booked common superior double room, luckily we've been given the superior double room with canal view. Very satisfied of it. Finally, the breakfast is the best part. I would recommend to family n friends. Very nice stay n worth for money!

Review 88:We were confused where the hotel entrance was when we got there. The breakfast was nice, but the toaster could be faster. An English TV channel would be nice.

Review 89:The location is excellent. The rooms are big for Venice. Rooms are very nice. Good value for money.

Review 90:We were there for our 30th anniversary. Hotel was amazing, really close to St. Mark's place, where we could see New Year's fireworks. Pretty good location. We had no problem to get there from tronchetto parking. Nice staff. Beauty room with lovely view. We are sure we will be back soon. We recommended! ;)

Review 91:The hotel was excellent! The room was amazingly new and well decorated. Easy to locate and very close to tourist spots! Many good restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.

Review 92:The free WiFi was very unreliable. Not a huge issue though since when you're in Venice you ought to be out experiencing the city itself!

Review 93:The room was amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the girl who checked us in.

Review 94:- The outside of hotel is poor - Breakfast is not enough if you have it late. - Wifi is ok but internet connection is very poor

Review 95:- Room is quite large, larger than my imagination - Interior is impressive

Review 96:The location is fabulous. Because of that, it was easy to go back to the hotel if we forgot anything or even to take a little nap. Since I was traveling with my elderly mother, they moved us to the first floor without charging us anything additional. The breakfast was fantastic as well. Above & beyond what I was expecting. I will only stay at this hotel next time I travel to Venice.

Review 97:There are no elevators

Review 98:This was exactly what we we're looking for! Room was very clean, bathroom was large, and we were 5 minutes walking distance from Rialto bridge and St Marks plaza. Highly recommend this cute place.

Review 99:Since it is a 3*** hotel, obviously one cannot expect the services or comfort of a 4 or 5*. However the place has its charm and would highly recommend it. If I have to be picky, I would say that due to the old building one might hear some noises from the hall when somebody is walking up or down the stairs.

Review 100:It is a small hotel, with the beautiful atmosphere! The room size in the first floor was great, high ceilings, stunning canal view, new bathroom, very clean! Fast wifi! Surprisingly good breakfast - equipment to squeeze your own fresh orange juice! Very friendly stuff. Close to St. Marc.

Review 101:Minibar wasn't cold so drinks were warm and there was mould inside, however it was cleaning on our second day. No staff on reception early morning which made checking out a little stressful and rushed.

Review 102:I forked out a little extra for the Superior Double Room with Canal View and I'm so glad I did so, it was stunning. This hotel was superbly located between Rialto Bridge and San Marco Square. - fantastic! Breakfast has a wonderful choice, including cooked meat and eggs which got a big thumbs up! I would stay again without hesitation.

Review 103:In some hours (night) you don't have any person in reception what can be a problem specially when you come form airport and don't have yet the key.

Review 104:The room is big and with confortable. All worked in perfection. The staff was very, very friendly! The breakfast its also ok.

Review 105:Loved everything about this hotel -- the location, the staff, the beautiful, comfortable room, and the charming balcony overlooking the canal. I will definitely recommend it to travelers.

Review 106:The room had a perfume sprayed on all the bedding that was overwhelming and I happen to have an allergy to perfumes so that was a big issue for me! Also everytime the front door opened our door slammed until we jammed something in it ! For the money we paid didn't like that that's what we had to do to sleep! Also the breakfast spread looks very beautiful in all the photos but very lacking in real time. When we went to breakfast there was one croissant in the pastry dish!!! So disappointing!

Review 107:The view was beautiful.

Review 108:Breakfast a bit haphazard, some days offered coffee other days not and limited selection but these are minor details it was still a good breakfast.

Review 109:The hotel is in a fabulous location just a short walk from the Rialto and St Marks. Our room was amazing, a good size and had a balcony which is a real premium in Venice. Would definitely recommend.

Review 110:Location. Very central and easy to reach, a 5 minute stroll from St Marks square and from Rialto. Our room was a 4bed family room on the first floor with two large windows overlooking a small but busy canal. Loved watching the gondolas and small boats pass below. Fair size shower with good water pressure. Very good breakfast that even included scrambled eggs! Good wi-fi in our room.

Review 111:Nothing as we understand Venice is short of space.

Review 112:This hotel is half way between Rialto Bridge and St Marco Square. Easy walk to either. Staff were very helpful. Hotel was Clean. We had a large room.

Review 113:the view from our bedroom windows but you cant blame anyone about that as the buildings are built very close to one another

Review 114:Hotel was very central and clean Breakfast was the best we had during our three week trip to Italy and France Receptionist was very friendly and helpful

Review 115:It was great, especially the reception staff "Amy" who was so welcoming and helpful, with all our needs and recommendations. Helped make our stay even better. Good sized rooms, good beds , A/c, great bathrooms very good accom.

Review 116:We had a hard time finding the hotel, but I think this is quite common for hotels in Venice due to all the little ally ways and canals.

Review 117:Very clean and spacious room for 5 (2 adults and 3 children) Excellent breakfast and great customer service.

Review 118:Tiny room at the top of 9 tight staircases. No wifi in room. (Though it did seem to work on next day). Simply not worth that kind of money.

Review 119:They allowed us to check in late at night. Front end staff were very friendly.

Review 120:No elevator, 3 floors Address does not correspond on website to reality Down a hard-to-find, pokey street No Supermarket really nearby Restaurant - Trattoria Gazzettino - expensive for what it was (comparatively), slow and ignorant service, industrial-styled sweets, some stale bread

Review 121:Large, well- appointed room Well furnished Modern, large bathroom with style fittings Good quality towels Comfortable pillows Excellent and copious buffet breakfast with great choice Midway between St Marc's & Rialto Bridge Lots of bars & restaurants nearby Restaurant as part of Hotel - Trattoria Gazzettino Friendly, informed and receptive Staff Sale of Vaporetto tickets AC Quiet Well-equipped and refilled Bar Fridge 2.2 Kms walk from Piazza Roma Bus Terminal

Review 122:We were only in Venice for one night and Al Gazzettino was perfect! Staff were excellent and very accomodating and the canal views beautiful. Our only desire was to stay longer. Breakfast was also the best we've had in Italy and the complimentary champagne was delicious :)

Review 123:The only negative was breakfast. We were snapped at slightly when we asked for eggs or croissants We had arrived at breakfast just as everything seemed to have run out (it was 9am and halfway through the two hour breakfast slot). We were told it would be a fifteen minute wait for more food by a slightly stressed out lady. It didn't detract too much from the enjoyment of our stay and would still recommend.

Review 124:The majority of staff were so helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help with directions, recommendations (my husband is gluten free and very awkward finding places to eat), bringing up an iron etc. The location is the best thing about the hotel, very central and a few minutes to St Marks and Rialto bridge. My husband stays in five star hotels frequently on business and he said this hotel was cleaner than some of those. It was immaculate and beautiful decor.

Review 125:No lift so it was a lot of stairs to take suitcases up or to climb back to room if you are on the 4th floor.

Review 126:Location was excellent and breakfast good. Room was a good size and had a fridge and tea making facilities. Beds comfortable.

Review 127:The bathroom had a large amount of damp or mould on the walls and ceiling

Review 128:The view of the canal from the room was stunning. The room itself was amazingly decorated in a Venetian style. The location cannot be beaten, 2 minute walk to the Rialto bridge and 5 minutes to St marks square, with everything right on the door step.

Review 129:Lack of lift

Review 130:The receptionist went out of her way to be helpful and accommodating, the room was big and light and most importantly clean. Bags were taken to the room promptly even though we checked in early.

Review 131:Breakfast could be a bit better. Nothing special.

Review 132:The bedroom was really good. In excellent condition, very clean and very well decorated with Venetian styles and Murano glass elements. Localion is also very very good, few minutes walking from Rialto Bridge and S. Marcos Square.
