Reviews for Suites Alba Resort & Spa

Review 1:Very small indoor pool

Review 2:Great hidden-away location down a single-track lane. Good beaches and cliff walks right outside. Excellent food: good quality breakfast but the restaurant on-site is expensive. Good staff: our flight was delayed so they rang from reception to check that we were OK

Review 3:we were disappointed in the Christmas eve menu, very average for the price. We missed the Christmas atmosphere in the restaurant, one Christmas tree at the entrance doesn’t make a Christmas feeling at all.

Review 4:This is all about location ! Impressive location at the cliffs wich allow you to make beautiful walks and admire the power of the sea The gardens are inviting even in winter. The architecture of the suites are appealing. The staff is very friendly !

Review 5:WiFi connection was a bit slower, but it was not a problem for us.

Review 6:Awesome location, wonderful and helping staff, very comfortable villas and amazing food.

Review 7:Same food every morning for breakfast - a bit boring, if you stay longer than 3 days. Restaurant quite expensive. Beds were hard.

Review 8:Perfect location to explore the highlights of the Algarve coast; Huge apartment; Very friendly staff

Review 9:the wi-fi doesnt worked properly.. No sauna, or steam room in the SPA area, thats would be great at off season time, when outside is cold (below 20 degrees)

Review 10:Dinner menu a little limited and "gourmet", so we ate out locally most of the time. Breakfast buffet was great.

Review 11:Peaceful, beautiful coastline, lovely staff.

Review 12:These are not suites but luxury houses with excellent confort and services. The hotel is located in a wonderful area, on the beach. Gardens are very pretty. There are plenty of paths for walking, (or bike, bycicles are provided free of charge). The views in the area are marvellous. Since there is no public transportation, it is advisable to rent a car (US$ 25 a day, online rent) in case you opt to visit other villages around. The breakfast is excellent, large variety, fresh and good quality. When you leave you receive a bonus for one night free of charge (or more according to your stay) from Nov to April.

Review 13:Stunning location , immersed in such pristine nature, amazing views , beautiful garden, tranquility, smiling , helpful staff , the feeling of privacy and deep relaxation.Very unique place and definately the best we have seen along Algarve cliffs .

Review 14:Friendly, courteous, professional staff who genuinely seemed to be happy to be at work. Nothing was too much trouble for all staff. Excellent dining experience both at breakfast and dinner. Very relaxing holiday with excellent facilities and close to lovely beaches.

Review 15:Wonderful hideaway with access to beach , breakfast combination of english/ portuguese with no wish left over ,suites furnished with taste and nothing amiss

Review 16:Not a negative at all but you would need a car if you want to explore the area.

Review 17:Couldn't fault the resort in any way. The accommodation was superb and the staff were happy, helpful and personable. It's a relatively small resort, which makes for a very relaxed experience. We loved the fact that the hotel isn't surrounded by other hotels, which gives the whole place an exclusive feel.

Review 18:Went to a wedding and everything was just perfect from start to finish. Loved the location the fact that it is quiet. Right next to a cliff and a nice walk down to the gorgeous beach. The rooms are spacious and well equipped.

Review 19:Perhaps quicker service at the bars, but slightly out of season so maybe expected?

Review 20:Superb location, lovely facilities, very clean apartments with all amenities you would expect from a 5 star resort. Fabulous food and staff are extremely polite and helpful. Highly recommended resort and cannot wait to return.

Review 21:Lack of service around pool in the day. Gym equipment sparse and either nor working or oudated

Review 22:Spa facilities very good Receptionists very good Chambermaids good

Review 23:We ate in the restaurant twice, the lunch was amazing, great portions and very tasty. Unfortunately the food at dinner looked great, but none of the dishes in were terrifically tasty. We felt it was too much about how they looked and not how they tasted.

Review 24:The quality and size of the rooms felt very luxurious. The beach is stunning.

Review 25:Very narrow road getting to the place but we made it.

Review 26:Out of big city traffic. We needed some down time from extensive travel and this was perfect. Hotel staff very nice and helpful. Room was very large with a living area and small kitchen. Breakfast excellent with a lovely view of the sea. Bonus ...we got to see the Portugal Masters being played at a nearby golf course.

Review 27:It's a little secluded with the nearest town and ten minute taxi ride away but I felt this added to the privacy. I loved how secluded it was in fact.

Review 28:Amazing place. We paid £666 for the premier sweet which is incredible value for money. The staff were fantastic, particularly the bar lady who was so attentive to your needs while sitting around the pool. The place itself is incredible with amazing facilities and its own private beach with a bar that serves the coldest beer. Amazing views, great breakfast, quality spa area. Just wow!

Review 29:N/A

Review 30:This resort is truly fabulous. From the time you arrive, there is a super welcome (thanks ANA). The staff are always available but not in your face. The beach at the bottom of the resort is lovely.

Review 31:Room had a few problems; 1 light in bathroom needs replacing. Soap holder in bath hanging off wall. Problem with access to room electronic key did not always work. Outside garden furniture etc throw in bushes to hide them. Handle on gate to outside access, beach etc broken and missing.

Review 32:lovely location

Review 33:The steep access of 20 steps up to our studio (no mention of his in hotel details) the pool was chilly and there was a dirty surface mark all around the edges. The location was beautiful but isolated and a 15/20 minute drive to find other restaurants or a supermarket. The bathroom is well appointed but tired and fittings such as shower head which continually fell out of its bracket, needed updating. We did speak to the management staff about the staircase and we were offered alternative accommodation but without a sea view and the Manager intimated that as it was opposite the restaurant, it could be noisy. A little disappointing overall.

Review 34:The suite was spacious, clean and comfortable. Excellent restaurant, and Spa. Good parking. The beach was a 5 minute walk, small but attractive. Attentive staff.

Review 35:Trivial things but mattress was a little uncomfortable and the air con in the gym isn't very good.

Review 36:Location, peacefulness, staff (especially Julia), food, spa, all superb would highly recommend and definitely return. Thankyou so much

Review 37:It's far from transportation hubs, but hotel staff was accommodating in getting us where we needed to go. Only dinner option is the hotel restaurant if you don't have a car.

Review 38:Great view of the ocean from the resort grounds. Beautiful suites. Quiet, mature clientel. Delicious (but expensive) food at the restaurant. Very relaxing experience.

Review 39:Our suite was above the reception and was noisy. Swimming pool too cold. We stayed 4 nights in September and there were 2 weddings during our stay; it was very noisy during the early hours, and we found vomit on our doorstep which wasn't cleaned until mid morning. We spoke to a member of staff who said he would inform the manager but we never received any apology.

Review 40:Very attractive surroundings and wonderful views from the pool area. The beach and coast around the hotel are fantastic.

Review 41:one waiter was a little offhand; all the others were excellent. Single track road a bit of a challenge esp after dark.

Review 42:great location and very good food

Review 43:The way to reach the hotel is narrow but this is the cost to be in a place with pure natur; )

Review 44:The hotel is very nice and the location is amazing, the hotel is in the middle of wonderful pure natur location, we loved the beach and the cliffs around, who loves natur and calm, will appreciate passing a time in this hotel.

Review 45:Breakfast is not a 5 star one. Although the selection is not bad for a 5 star hotel you would expect a bit more variety especially if you stay longer. The swimming pool area is nice but there is no pool service which would be ok for a 3 star resort but not for 5. Service is also lacking in the restaurant especially in the morning.

Review 46:Location, room size and facilities, swimming pool area and beach, food in the restaurant is very well prepared and tasty.

Review 47:WiFi is poor in the room. Weddings attract to many people in some days

Review 48:Suits are amazing! They are huge, clean and super comfortable. Reception staff is great and helpful. The place itself is calm and very beautiful, with a small and cozy brach down.

Review 49:shower broken and not very hot water - but once mentioned it to reception, it was fixed immediately.

Review 50:Went there for family wedding. Alba Suites was wonderful, the staff extremely helpful. Views- superb. Catering- superb. Spa treatments- the best.

Review 51:Far from any amenities (no supermarkets, restaurants within walking distance). Beach close but a pain to carry stuff to and from if you also have to carry your kids. Dinner food sub-par... overly rich. Simpify it. Cover charges for bread annoying. 4 Euros for a bottle of water. Come on. Avoid half-board.

Review 52:Peace and quiet. Quality of staff. Size of rooms. Not too many guests so you can always get a sunlounger! Hidden beaches. Places to explore. Feeling of safety. Free use of bicycles with helmets and locks. Decent breakfast and lunch. All hotel amenities a stone's throw away from each other. Views. No tattoos or smokers in sight.

Review 53:The information on the web-page indicates that shops are easily accessible. They are not. You need a car/taxi to get to the nears shop for groceries.

Review 54:The location and facilities are fantastic.

Review 55:The TV reception was extremely poor. The shower hanger did not hold position, constantly flipping down.

Review 56:Beautiful location. Very comfortable bed. Very spacious accommodation globally.

Review 57:It is expensive, but you really will get a fantastic holiday for the money you pay.

Review 58:We stayed here for a week in July and it was fantastic. The facilities are superb. A wonderful pool, including a small baby pool, a fantastic restaurant with superb cuisine for both adults and kids, a great casual kids club (included in the price!), a great spa where I enjoyed a superb foot treatment, just 100 metres to the beach which is so beautiful and clean and has a great little snack bar open till late as well and the apartment was very clean and well equipped. The staff are amazing - incredibly helpful, polite and always making that extra effort especially with our kids. Nothing is too much trouble for them - customer service is very important to them. We will definitely be back. Loved it.

Review 59:Wifi was an issue in our room which was it rectified during our stay.

Review 60:Friendliness of staff, food, cleanliness, ambiance, close proximity to beaches and coastal walks

Review 61:There is only one restaurant and not two as promoted. The wine cathedral does not exist. The bar is not staffed - so be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes to be served. The restauarant menu is bizarre - food inedible.

Review 62:Nothing really. This is not a 5 star facility. We left after 6 nights (out of 14) as it was so poor.

Review 63:Fabulous hotel in a fabulous location. I was there for my sisters wedding. She had her ceremony and reception at the hotel which was spectacular. Would return to this hotel only negative was we didn't stay here for long enough.

Review 64:Booked a table outside to have dinner on the first night, but had to wait for more than an hour to have a table because it was not reserved

Review 65:Close location to the beautiful beach, very good facilities, nice food at the restaurant

Review 66:We were on our honeymoon and the hotel was packed with families and children. The facilities were not large enough to accommodate everyone (e.g. The pools were too small and the wifi continually dropped out) On our first night a staff member try to enter our room at 11pm without even knocking. When we yelled out from the other side of the door he apologised and left without explaining himself - making for a sleepless first night. Not worth the amount of money we paid.

Review 67:Good view from the room and plenty of space in the deluxe suite.

Review 68:we spend four nights at Suites Alba before moving onto a villa for a week and it was a great start to our family holiday. Suites Alba is a very peaceful location with beautiful views and a very relaxing feel. The staff are lovely, breakfast fabulous choice, accommodation great.

Review 71:Tvs are a bit old, but you won t need to use them, this place provides you with enough entertainment, also the bar was quite poorly

Review 72:If you want to go to a quiet place, remote, close to a wild beach, this is the perfect spot! The food was great, the staff simply amazing, the beacjh was just few meters away... Because I arrived there very early, and my room was not ready, they gave me a free breakfast. Suites are hudge! The inside pool was wonderful, you have plenty of extras to choose from. I will definetely return there.

Review 73:Coffee machine malfunctioed on our anniversary morning and flooded kitchen, we had to clean up. No tea to go with kettle. No cozy cuppa on our private patio on our special morning just uninterested reception staff & advice to get our coffee down at the restaurant!!! We would not go back to this hotel.

Review 74:Restaurant

Review 75:The beach for the resort was very small and weedy and not safe for children or unconfident swimmers. The resort is quite isolated being about 15 minutes from Carvoeiro by car and impossible if no car.

Review 76:I loved the elegant architecture of the low rise resort and the gardens. The whole place is very WOW and had everything desired. Restaurant served haute cuisine for dinner with good wines..

Review 77:On our first night, we had diner in the restaurant. The diner was overpriced and took a long time time to arrive. Outside the hotel area, I recommend for eating out the pizza hut above the beach, very nice pizza and fresh orange juice. At our time of stay there was no child care in the playgroud area (I think it starts mid June).

Review 78:The location is great, beach very close, house very clean and new, yound friendly staff. The hotel is not huge and great if you like to be calm.

Review 79:Never like "double" beds which are two single beds pushed together as they are very uncomfortable - really surprised such a good hotel didn't have proper kingsize double beds. Also more choice in the selection of pillows would have been appreciated....the one available were of good quality but no choice in terms of size and firmness.

Review 80:Love the location of this superb hotel which provide very spacious suites.

Review 81:Not really a bad experience, but possibly a more varied dinner menu would encourage more guests to stay on site.

Review 82:Liked the location and the tranquility. The staff and facilities were top quality. The location requires a hire car but enables easy travel to various places on the Algarve.

Review 83:I had a taxi ordered from Carvoeiro taxi transfers, the reception ordered it for us on the Friday night (taxi driver was called Pedro Miguel) He was by far the rudest man I have ever met. He had 12 euros already on the meter before we had even got into the car..He obviously thought we were on holidays to Portugal and taking advantage (I live in the Algarve) he said it was because he had to come from Carvoeiro, I said that was not my problem and it does not operate like that..he stopped the car very abruptly, shouted and started turning the car back to the hotel...extremely rude..anyway I would hope you would not use that firm again for any other guests as he is clearly taking advantage of tourists. In the end we had to pay 15 euro to get to Brasserie Rosal ( 4 mins away)

Review 84:We checked in at about 11am on Friday 29th and were met by an extremely pleasant staff in reception (didn´t get her name) but was a great representative for the resort.

Review 85:I normally avoid resort/spas, but this one was beautiful and very spacious and comfortable. The food was so-so, but that is to be expected in a larger place like this.

Review 86:The staff, especially the reception staff, were very helpful and friendly. The location overlooking a spectacular sea arch and the secluded beach with a small snack bar were perfect. I also loved the view from our apartment of the gardens and the sea.

Review 87:The equipment in our kitchenette was not really enough for cooking for a family. But then again, they say it's a kitchenette.

Review 88:The rooms were spacious and clean. Overall the hotel and staff very nice. Location is excellent for small hikes and swimming - if you don't mind the chilly water :) You get easily to attractions by car.

Review 89:Everything is excellent. We had a late dinner at the hotel restaurant, the food and service were excellent!!! Hotel also helped us to reserve the boat trip. It was wonderful.

Review 90:Had requested a late check out by e mail prior to arrival, they were unable to confirm whether this would be possible. Asked again on arrival, again they would not know until the morning of departure. On our departure day we were told late check out was not possible as our room was prebooked - it is reidiculous in this age not to know in advance whether you have bookings for each room, they could have offered us an alternative room with a late check out, and we would have paid a late fee with no problem. A hotel of this quality should be able to accomodate clients requestes especially off season. the hotel was not full, I checked online. I want a hotel that looks after my needs not thier own.

Review 91:beautiful position, and a very pretty set up. The room was very comfortable and clean with good amenities

Review 92:Access to the resort is via a single track road which could get difficult in high season. There are no other facilities locally - not a problem if you plan to stay within the resort and use its extensive facilities.

Review 93:Wonderfully comfortable, excellent food, attentive staff

Review 94:It was so good it seems churlish to find fault but .. The shower was a bath handset with a bracket on the wall to take the shower head which was a bit cumbersome and you have to balance the hot and cold taps to get the water at the right temperature. And the huge bed could have done with new linen. The pillows were lumpy but they did change the pillows when asked.

Review 95:A small stylish "village" of colour washed villas split into apartments on top and ground floors. Very spacious accommodation. Great Restaurant located to take full advantage of the stunning cliff top position.

Review 96:The kitchens are fully equipped but do not have a kettle or toaster, which seemed a bit strange. The bar was not manned and was always empty during our stay, although we sat in there for 5 minutes waiting for a barman.

Review 97:The Villas are spacious, very clean and the surrounding gardens are impeccably maintained.

Review 98:Poor prepaid wifi but we were given a refund. Nearly 5euro for bottle of water so make sure you go to a supermarket!

Review 99:Very friendly staff and beautiful location

Review 100:Wish they're coffee machine took a common cartridge. it would have been expensive to buy them from the front desk everyday.

Review 101:Location was a close driving distance to a lot of great places. Lots of history in the area, service and the breakfast buffet was incredible.

Review 102:Only little complaint is that the beds were too hard but that seems to be standard for Europe. Lighting could have been better again probably standard hotel "ambient" light but not good for reading!

Review 103:Quiet location set in beautiful coastal countryside. Easy to explore local coves and stunning cliff scenery by foot.

Review 104:As it was out if season, they seemed to be understaffed, we waited half an hour to be served a drink at the bar on our last evening as all staff where busy with diners. The bed was a continental twin pushed together and made up as a double, it was not very comfortable, the shower head was too heavy for the holder and you had to take it off and use as a hand shower, They could do with a shop on site, if you did not have a car you would struggle with supplies. On arrival there was two coffee sachets, if you wanted any more you had to purchase them from reception, in my mind they should be replenished daily for that first coffee of the day. All other hotels I have stayed in do.

Review 105:We loved the location, the suite was great, had a really lovely time. The staff where brilliant but not enough of them. We had a problem with the safe and they where there within two minutes of making the call to sort out the issue. Room service was very good and I had the best mushroom risotto ever, breakfast was continental and there was a good selection, including salmon and champagne,

Review 106:Kitchen equipment is very basic

Review 107:Very friendly and helpful stuff! Incredible location, hard to find but worth the effort! We, two girls without gps, got lost the first time and the hotel guided us by phone and by sending out a driver to look for us, which was a big favor. Wonderful suites and gardens. We will definitely go back!

Review 108:Lack of English TV in the villa was disappointing at this level. The bar area was very small and not very inviting. Improved sign posting is required as site is very remote.

Review 109:The recetion staff were excellent. The restaurant manager and his staff were excellent and well trained.

Review 110:We didn't realise at first that it was in a rural area, around 6 miles (15 min drive) from the nearest small resort town of Carvoeiro. We found this a little too far to cycle in the heat. A taxi, however, was a set price of only 15 euros each way, so it wasn't overly expensive to go there and back.

Review 111:Very spacious, warm, clean villa. A nice relaxing resort. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Two beautiful beaches only a few minutes walk away. Complimentary bicycle hire. Great breakfasts, tasty afternoon meals and splendid evening fine-dining. Lovely spa facilities.

Review 112:Electrical kettle not in kitchen but when reception supplied it knocked out all electrics, the 2nd kettle did the same. 2 bedroom villa with only 1 toilet not good.

Review 113:Location

Review 114:The fine dining restaurant is lovely but when you are on holiday you need more straightforward things too. It would not suit children to eat there and it is a drive to the nearest restaurants

Review 115:Great location for a romantic get away Fantastic rooms and facilities Lovely beach Nice health spa Very very good value

Review 116:No free WiFi in room

Review 117:Very friendly welcome, beautiful and spacious room with lovely view. Bed comfortable bathroom clean and very modern. Winter stay so pleased it was really warm and were offered logs for the open fire.

Review 118:In this day and age WiFi should be free in you suite as well as in the public lounge. On bad weather days it is good to have TV as a fallback but alas no English TV. They had it 12 months ago but not anymore (cutbacks?). If you had WiFi you could stream TV to your room....

Review 119:Excellent location with friendly and helpful staff.

Review 120:- Paid Wifi did not work

Review 121:- Most beautiful location in all of Algarve. - Excellent, kind and prof. staff. - Very cozy and safe atmosphere for families

Review 122:Swimming caps are required to use the indoor pool and are overpriced at the spa. After your first free capsule of coffee, guests must purchase additional pods at reception after the first day if you want to have coffee to drink in your suite.

Review 123:Beautiful property. Breathtaking views of the coast and comfortable suites with nice amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Christmas stocking with chocolates and cake was a particularly nice touch -- there is no better way to spend Christmas than to have even the stocking hung from the fireplace for you.

Review 124:Chaotic restaurant service making it difficult to enjoy Christmas evening dinner. Food may have been well crafted but by the time it got to the table it was cold and the long wait, up to one hour and 15 mins., made it difficult to appreciate and enjoy it. Untrained and unprepared staff...a nightmare!

Review 125:Very well appointed apartment, with excellent sea views, probably the best in the Algarve. Good breakfast.

Review 126:Go by car using GPS coordinates. Navigation systems can not locate the resort by name, street or town. This is a first day problem but it is also and advantage considering you will stay in a amazing and quiet 'lost corner of the world'

Review 127:Amazing location in a unbelievable clifs' coast line between two beaches. Nice medium size resort with excellent full equipped and nice decorated apartments. Very amiable staff, very good breakfast in front of the ocean and nice cuisine.

Review 128:Coastal location Can be dangerous if traveling with kids. Spa massage room with smelly sewage . Fireplace should be ready to light up during the winter.

Review 129:Beach and coastal location . Beautiful and very comfortable suite with jacuzzi and fireplace . Medium to small size development with very nice Portuguese decor lines. Very helpful staff.

Review 130:Kitchen facilities are sparse. Resort a bit hard to find at first.

Review 131:Quiet location, very comfortable apartment, very nice pools and spa, very good breakfasts, very attentive service - no wait at all for room service. All requests responded to right away, e.g. arranging car rental, transfers, etc.

Review 132:came close to being Excellent - just needs a few extra toppings to make it 100%. The Spa is a little too small for the size of the complex and needs a little work, the glass from the spa to the sea needs a good clean - such a great view being spoilt by dried on water spots, A couple of broken panes of glass on the balcony around the pool which needed replacing.

Review 133:The suites are great value and they are in a great location, they are comfortable and the staff are very welcoming. Despite the small down sides we are planning to return to Portugal and probably to the Alba Suites next year.

Review 134:The hotel bar was very small and was almost attached to the restaurant. Wasn't very inviting to go for a drink and there was no where else to do this on the hotel grounds.

Review 135:The apartment was very spacious and amazing value for money. Great location 100m from a lovely beach and cliff walks. The food was excellent and the massage we got in the spa was the best massage ever. Would definitely recommend a trip to the spa.

Review 136:It was perfect. We splashed out on a sea view villa and didn't regret it, although we would have been content with any villa. The spa and pools are perfection, the staff is all very kind and efficient, and the food was fantastic--breakfast lunch and dinner.

Review 137:Spa closed without any notice. Very basic restaurant (only burgers, fajitas and the like). Ridiculous to have to pay for Wi-Fi. Communal areas are non-existent apart from the restaurant. Recommendation we got to eat outside was not in line with the guests expected in these 5-star hotels. It is more of a 3.5-4 star condominium - try others in Algarve if you want real 5-stars.

Review 138:Nice wine list (not at all in line with the variety and type of food served). Nice beach nearby. Very quiet.

Review 139:Just a bit far to carveiro town if u are not driving , definately need to take a taxi but that isnt an issue

Review 140:Really quiet and peaceful, beautiful location which can only be appreciated in person. Luxurious accommodation and very friendly staff which just complimented the surroundings
