Reviews for B&B The Old House

Review 1:Always a very friendly and helpful welcome from the owner and his wife. The bedroooms are clean, comfortable and airy. The breakfast choice provides a perfect start to the day. The location is only a few minutes walk from the town centre and secure parking on site is a bonus.

Review 2:Beautiful old building with modern facilities.Down marked a little by the absence of a restaurant. However, this is not a deal breaker because the hotel is so near to the town square where there are many good eating places. Good WiFi and secure parking.

Review 3:Hair dryer not very powerful and nowhere to put towels after ysing them. But this is being really picky!

Review 4:The Old House is a charming, well located b&b offering very comfortable accommodation and a feast for breakfast. Very friendly staff, secure parking, quirky items located around the propery - we loved it!

Review 5:nothing

Review 6:Very clean and calm rooms. Free parking lots of the hotel and this in a town with small parking capacity. Friendly staff; as the restaurant is closed in the evening, calm atmosphere in the building.

Review 7:Nothing bad, but the "shower on a stick" was a little awkward to use.

Review 8:Location, spacious room, friendly and helpful reception. large and comfortable bed.

Review 9:Planned to have a drink and evening meal at the hotel but bar and restaurant were closed so had to walk to the town square which was OK on this occasion because the sun was shining.

Review 10:This is a lovely old building but with a very modern interior. Nice bright rooms with great wet room.Owners very friendly great breakfast.

Review 11:A very centrally located, spotlessly clean, comfortable and extremely stylish boutique hotel that serves a high quality, varied buffet breakfast. My wife and I stayed there as part of a cycling tour and the proprietor kindly invited us to store our bikes in an indoor hallway which was a welcome gesture.

Review 12:Veurne is an interesting town with a lot of interesting history. Convenient for travelling elsewhere by train or road. The hotel facilities were excellent and staff very helpful. It would be great to be bring a group of artists here for a weekend!

Review 13:Standards rooms are a bit small, but they are quite cheap (euro 65), sonothing to complain. But if you like your space, take the superior room.Shower and taps are modern design, but a bit unpractical.

Review 14:Second time coming here:1) The building, the entrance, the parking, the classic atmosphere, the welcome. 2) Superior rooms: very large suite. 3) The breakfast, large buffet and eggs on order. 4) The city, walk 5 minutes and enjoy the most beautiful square (almost as beautiful as Brussels, best during evening lights). 5) Most convenient to go to the coast.

Review 15:From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel extremely welcome. The room was very spacious with a well appointed ensuite. The Old House is a 5 minute walk to the main Square so is well located for local bars/restaurants. Breakfast was continental with a large choice. Wish I'd found this place before will be back.

Review 16:No restaurant or bar in the evening. No coffee making facilities.

Review 17:Friendly staff - very helpful. Nice house and garden. Good sized, clean modern room. Wonderful breakfast - the best I have had on the Continent.

Review 18:Was happy with everything- maybe tea/coffee facilities in room, as well as water? (but this is by no means a grumble!)

Review 19:The hotel was very relaxed and relaxing with elegant and quirky décor. The room was spacious, bed comfy, lovely bathroom. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We slept really well and enjoyed the lovely breakfast. Looking forward to visiting again. Great location too

Review 20:Nothing - everything was good.

Review 21:Quiet, clean, and comfortable. Really pleasant and helpful owners/staff. Brilliant breakfast. Excellent value for money.

Review 22:No airco. Attic room was badly lit. No lamp for the writing desk. Reading in bed was also impossible. No tea/coffee making facilities. Restaurant closed at 6 pm.

Review 23:Excellent breakfast, perfect location for a visit to Veurne and Flanders Fields. Good, on site parking facilities.

Review 24:I feel there should be coffee and tea facilities in the bedrooms

Review 25:The Location The Comfort The Space in the room Lovely big bathroom Excellent choice for breakfast Excellent choice at the bar Very quiet

Review 26:The bar is never open in the night but not really an issue when so close to the town centre.

Review 27:We stay here often. The Old House is unique. Great rooms, great breakfast, plenty of parking spaces and great location, just a 2 minute walk to the main square.

Review 28:check-in time closed at 19.00. Reception not staffed after 19.00. Great difficulty gaining access - local bistro owner helped. Waited 1/2 hour. Hotel sent telephone message but not picked up. Room on 2 floors - nightmare getting case up to bedroom.

Review 29:Beautiful old building - well renovated Excellent breakfast.

Review 30:As soon as we arrived, we could see we had made the best choice for our stay. I would highly recommend The Old House in Veurne, and shall be visiting again within the near future.

Review 31:Very large rooms with individual character which are very comfortable for longer stays. The city centre is only 400 m away. Free and safe parking on the hotel-owned court in front of the hotel building. The coast is less than 10 km away and can easily be reached by car or bike (De Panne). The cities at the coast (De Panne, Oostende, Zeebrügge, etc.) can be explored by using the coast tram (Kusttram), which is cheap and very convenient.

Review 32:the only drawback was mosquitoes in our room that interfered with sleep(rectified the next night).Coffeee making facilities would have been appreciated.

Review 33:stylish high ceiling rooms, clean.the breakfast was fantastic.Good location

Review 34:Loss of all power to the room on several occasions - not great when sleeping in a duplex!

Review 35:Secure car park. Comfy bed and excellent breakfast

Review 36:Spacious and excellent staff. Convenient for town square to take supper. Great parking.

Review 37:Fantastic breakfast, good choice. Excellent service.

Review 53:Location - Situated 3 minutes from the center

Review 55:Ambience Comfort Value

Review 56:Nothing to dislike when I stayed.

Review 57:East access from the E40, very quiet, good breakfast, secure parking, helpful welcome. I will be back!

Review 58:The breakfast was the best breakfast display I have ever seen. It was a banquet - you could eat as much as you wanted.

Review 59:Lots of mosquitos in our room.

Review 60:Lovely breakfast. Free wifi. Close to town centre and restaurants but also easy access into motorway .

Review 61:Everything was perfect.

Review 62:This was an excellent hotel. The food staff and facilities were superbe. Very good value

Review 63:A very nice and friendly B&B. I was impressed with the accommodation and breakfast. Peter was very friendly and helpful.

Review 64:Cycled from London to Veurne and being welcomed and looked after by Peter and his team were exactly what I needed after 190km in the saddle. The house is very tastefully decorated. Breakfast left nothing to be desired. The room Wood have been too nice and too small to keep my bike in, but Peter tucked it away safely. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and can fully recommend the Old House.

Review 65:Somewhat chilly welcome. Asked for room on upper floor: given disabled access one next to reception. Not clear why when hotel almost empty. Shower either boiling or freezing: tap fault didn't permit intermediate.

Review 66:Beautiful 18th century house standing in pleasant garden. Excellent value, really a boutique hotel. High ceilinged room, larger than expected. Central location in attractive street.

Review 67:Nothing noted.

Review 68:A beautifully renovated property very close to the main square in Veurne (itself very picturesque). The Old House is also very close by car to the fantastic beach at De Panne. The owners run this very professionally with a lot of attention to detail. Breakfast was diverse and good value.

Review 69:My wife and I wanted a change of venue from Bruges whilst travelling back from a trade show in Dusseldorf - Germany, and we certainly found that in Verne, which is a charming small town, with excellent local restaurants, and historical buildings to look at. The Old House was a charming building, very clean and tidy, with good size rooms and excellent food, everything you would want in a well run B&B. Thank you, we will call again. Review 70:Lovely stopover at The Old House on the way back to the tunnel. The accommodation was good with a comfortable room. The town is stunning. The town square just round the corner with lots of places to eat.

Review 71:We liked the beautiful old house, the friendly staff and the cozy atmosphere at the place. The breakfast was really good with lots of options. All in all a place we would love to return to.

Review 72:Disabled shower room was a bit difficult to use because of handrail and controls location, but otherwise facilities were very good.

Review 73:Most things - excellent and varied breakfast and bar menu, very friendly staff, beautiful location, large room.

Review 74:This hotel is very central, only a few minutes walk to the bars/restaurants etc. We were given front door keys for the evening - maybe we were the only people staying there, it was 23rd Dec. Breakfast was cooked for us on request but there was plenty of cold foods laid out too

Review 75:Nothing!Just a note here to guests that we didn't find the hotel particularly easily. The front gardens are walled. We had eyes peeled for a building that resembled the photograph on Booking.com which was obscured. Look for several flags suspended from the wall. You can then drive through the gate into the secure parking within the gardens. Don't park at the back - as we did at first. You will be asked to move your car.

Review 76:Where to start? The owners are delightful and nothing is too muchtrouble.they work 365 days a year and manage to deliver such warm andgenuine hospitality - even with the more "difficult" guest aswe witnessed! They have lovingly restored the building and invested in aquality refurbishment that truly shines. It is a beautiful hotel withmuch character. Our bedroom was spacious, quiet and comfortable. The beddelightful to sleep in. The shower was the best we had experienced ineight nights of trans-Eurooean hotels as was the free WiFi whichconnected easily and with no password required. The hotel is situatedperfectly in a lovely spot within metres of a pretty park and the mainsquare of Veurne. The parking is very secure. The electric gates areclosed at night and guests issued with an electronic key with which togain access. We loved it.

Review 77:Unable to connect to the internet. Their connection uses a cable and my computer is North American and the USB connection is smaller. Therefore wifi would help.

Review 78:Wonderful and friendly, very clean and fabulous value. Absolutely wonderful breakfast and looked after our special needs.

Review 79:See above. They had my email address so why not just let me know that the room booked did not meet my requirements. I would've happily chosen a different room.

Review 80:This b&b gets rave reviews. I was sadly disappointed. Perhaps they prefer not to accommodate solo travellers. A 'superior' single bedroom turns out to be in the attic with picturesque beams well below head height - ie. bumps and bruises. The one small window - more of a skylight - gives onto a brick wall no more than 30cm away. No wifi in that room but management weren't interested. Good-ish breakfast. Very nice painss-aux-raisins

Review 81:Rooms may be noisy (pipes, lift); bizarre hot water system; tv sets located in strange places.

Review 82:Nice old building, smartly renovated; absolutely clean rooms; extremely nice and helpful staff; delicious breakfast; superb location; private parking lot; the heating was on - it was May but a cold night (!).

Review 83:Perfectly renovated, charming and welcoming! Our room was amazing with 2 small side bedrooms. Perfect for the children. The bathroom was nicely renovated with a walk in shower. Wide selection of food for breakfeast in a lovely environment. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. A perfect location, for a perfect weekend!

Review 84:Wifi signal is weak incertain area's.

Review 85:Location in the center of the city, everything at walking distance Very nice rooms Very friendly and helpfull staff Excellent breakfast Free Wifi in the room.

Review 86:The fact that we were only staying one night!

Review 87:Everything was perfect - the staff, room, very comfortable bed and pillows, beautiful bathroom and fantastic shower. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Very convenient location for bars and restaurants.

Review 88:- The standard single room is a bit plain and suffers from some practical issues: there is no bed light, so you must turn on the very bright light of the room for reading; and you hear the very loud lift and plumbing when your neighbor takes a shower. Aside that, the room is quiet (provided other guests behave properly). But remember that the standard room price is very cheap. - Although the bathroom has a very nice design, it also lacks some practicality: difficult to use taps, no hook to suspend towels. OK: those are very minor issues considering the whole charm of the house and the good value. I definitively recommend it.

Review 89:- The magnificent entrance, the historical house, no penny spared on renovation and decoration. - The location: next to the medieval square, and a short ride (car needed) to the beach. - The bistrot: good value meals, nice service, excellent free breakfast, all with some touch of class. - Very friendly hosts.
