Reviews for Hotel La Forcola

Review 1:stuff and manager were very unfriendly and arrogant (gave wrong information, didnt care,...) it was dirty to very dirty (bathroom, mini bar!...) noisy breakfast was poor (plastic sweet) WiFi very weak no TV satellite as promised (only Italian TV) instead of 2,40 Euro tourist charge (info in their Email) per person per night surprisingly they wanted 3,60 Euro when I arrived in the hotel

Review 2:hotel has an elevator (good for weak, old people)

Review 3:The location is ideal, on the main street, rounded with souvenir shops, restaurants, markets...at the same time avoid from the noise center area. The hotel room was REALLY Clean! Great value for money :-)

Review 4:The only minor complaint might be that the water pressure in a shower and a faucet was quite low. Also, as the hotel is located on the major tourist route, expect loud crowds outside the window.

Review 5:The best thing about the room was the view, i was not expecting it to basically have three windows (one in the bathroom, two in the room) located on two different corners of the building. So there was a view towards the houses and towards the channel, which was exceptionally pretty, especially for the money. The location is good, it's on a walking distance from the train station and the ghetto, on a main "tourist" way from the station to Rialto, with plenty of cafes and shops around. Wireless connectivity was good, as well as the breakfast, the staff was really nice. Great value for money.

Review 6:It was cold in the room the first 4 nights as they had not put the heating on yet. Also not much space for your clothes in the room.

Review 7:It was very easy to find from where I got off the boat at Guglie. It was clean and the staff were pleasant.

Review 8:Breakfast could have been better for the price.

Review 9:The location was great. Short walk to nearest water bus station and just had to follow the highstreet down to get to st. marks square

Review 10:The air conditioning was not on in the lobby and breakfast room most of the time, making it very uncomfortable. I am not one that likes it cold, but it was totally inadequate.

Review 11:I liked the location!

Review 12:Insect bites! Some sort of insect ate my body out and it got nasty

Review 13:The location is excellent, right at san marco popular square.. You step out and find everything you need at your sight.. Super friendly staff

Review 14:The hotel needs a bit of TLC. I booked the hotel as we stayed there the last time we visited Venice approximately 5 years ago and it has deteriorated, it seems that as thing break they are not repaired or painted also the breakfast is not the same. A shame as it could be a beautiful hotel with a bit of elbow grease and a good managements eye.

Review 15:The location of the hotel is excellent

Review 16:I thought I had to pay for wifi, but it was free, and the connection was great. Great breakfast in the morning. Great location, within walking distance to all sights. I had a beautiful view of the canal from my bedroom.

Review 17:Poor breakfast (no fruits and overall cheap products) Hair dryer and bathroom materials were a little old.

Review 18:Excellent location Bathroom was clean Room had wooden floor instead of carpet Very quiet room and comfortable bed The girl at the reception was friendly and helpful

Review 19:Room very small , bathroom small , tv didn't work, 2 single beds pushed together was not a double bed . Generator out side on next doors balcony was going on and off all night was very noisy

Review 20:Very helpful staff

Review 21:The breakfast was not great, but I hear that's what you can expect from hotels in Venice.

Review 22:The front desk personnel were very helpful, giving us tips of places to go and routes to take to see some of Venice's many beautiful sights. Location was not bad. We got bumped up to a room with a view over one of the canals. Note: WiFi was actually free for the whole stay, unlike what's said on the website.

Review 23:The breakfeast is awful, the air conditioning dosent really work. The noise from the canal next to our room at night and in the morning was awful. The rooms are basics but you get what you pay for.

Review 24:This hotel has an amazing location for Venice and it is cheap but don't expect much as you don't pay for much. The rooms are relatively spacious, the shower was good and the bathroom was a good size.

Review 25:The breakfast was basic, not bad but simple.

Review 26:We staid here for 3 nights in July. Nice staff, nice and clean room at all time. Location was good, walking distance basically everywhere. Definetly value for the money!

Review 27:There were two things, we think the hotel could do better. The bread served for breakfast, was too dry and there should have been possibility for making roasted toastbread. Second...but not least...the aircon. in the hotelroom was not effective enough, so it was a little difficult, making a good nights sleep.

Review 28:We really liked the way the staff wellcomed us. Dedicated, friendly and serviceminded. The rooms were cosy, big and clean. The beds were also nice. There was a really nice restaurant, at the hotel, and the food we had there, was excellent and very tasty. It was possible to make reservation for the hotels own car-transport to Malpensa Airport just a 10 minuts ride away. It is absolutely a hotel we will reckommend.

Review 29:The breakfast was poor. The people working at the reception are sometimes sulky depending on the person. The room was small with a balcony but far away from the crowd crossing the bridge all day long.

Review 30:The location of the hotel is good. A few minutes to St Marcuola waterbus station and just 2 stops from Piazzela Roma. The room was cleaned and towels were changed every day.

Review 31:When we got to the hotel, the receptionist didn't make us feel welcome and one of the receptionists was rude. Canal view was not at all what we expected, wouldn't pay extra for that if I knew what it really was.

Review 32:Location was pretty good. Easy access by foot to many places. Good size room and bathroom with a tub (superior).

Review 33:The canal view was worthless. Some photos showed a nice table where you could sit and enjoy it. This was not the case at all. The shower had rotted wood along it. The a/c didn't really work and the room was musty.

Review 34:location was great.

Review 35:The hotel is placed at an extension of the Strada Nuova and directly at a bridge. While this makes it an ideal starting place for exploring the city, it also comes with the costs of increased noise, also during the night (exspecially at the weekends). NOTE: The usage of the wifi is free, in contrast to the statement on booking.com

Review 36:Very ordinary air conditioning in room 105,, plus the stains on the wall behind the door and the ones under the lampshade looked like a pending episode of CSI

Review 37:Location. Walking distance to Basilica and plenty of restaurants

Review 38:The walls need painting! Furniture too old! Breakfast good but limited and just sweet!

Review 39:Great Location! access to both downtown, train station and main shopping area Helpful and nice staff! Quiet and comfortable!

Review 40:Terrible breakfast. No chees no ham no vegetable no dark bread. Only sweet things. Breakfast is not desert.

Review 41:Nice location in a center, many restaurants around.

Review 42:Very basic breakfast and also shower was very weird located in the bathroom, as the water went everywhere which means you couldn't use the toilet after you had a shower for a while because the floor was very wet

Review 43:The staff was helpful and location was ok

Review 44:A taxi can't get there. The canal isn't big enough. Fortunately, it's not far from the Grand Canal.

Review 45:We had a corner room on the second floor with two tall windows that opened onto tiny stone balconies. Waking up to a view of the small canal we were on was a true Venice experience.

Review 46:Only one thing: every night I was fighiting with the blanket, which this very responsible maiden pushed in so deep under the matrass, that my fighiting was not sucsessfull every night and a couple of night I could use only half of blanket.

Review 47:Small scenik house in the heart of Venice. Very kind nice staff, excellent coffe from old real Saeco mashine, comfortable bed, small, but ideally working bathroom equipment. What else? Of course, exellent location on the main street and silence in the room. Felt myself like a Venetian when started every my day from this nice place - every direction brings a lot of spectecular impressions in 10 minutes distance.

Review 48:The room is verry small compared with fotos from the site, the furniture is very old and has the lockers broken and the walls are dirty.

Review 49:The hotel is near the Center and the cleaning was made every day.

Review 50:The decor could do with an update, we were on the first floor and there were lots of damp / water damage patches on the ceiling - not great to see

Review 51:The location of the hotel was very good, near the train station and vaporetta stop and a whole host of restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 52:- we hear everything what's happend on hallway - it should get a new color on walls and clean corners

Review 53:+balcony +locality is close to bus stop that's can be useful when street are full of water :) +bed was comfortable

Review 54:The lady at the breakfast room was scary. Don't mess with her.

Review 55:The soundproof windows was excellent, so no noise came in from the busy walkway beneath our windows. The staff was very friendly, especially the lady at reception, always ready with a beautiful smile. I don't know why people are complaining about stains on the walls, they were so minute, do these people take out their paint brushes every time a spot appears at home? Get real people. Wifi, mini fridge and aircon worked beautifully.

Review 56:Minor problem with new staff allocating wrong rooms to our group. When queried, management failed to compensate. However, we were offered a similar room. This would not stop me recommending this hotel.

Review 57:Great location. Would stay there again. In a less expensive part of the city.

Review 58:Cosy, romantic, designed in Venetian style, beautifully located on the small bridge. Windows show the view to the canal and to the bridge, truly venetian view. Staff is friendly and welcoming, location is very comfortable, vaporetto staion is close, or you can walk from tarin station, just 5 minutes. The hotel is on Strada Nuova, surrounded by beautiful masks shops, boutiques, nice restaurants. It was my second stay in this hotel, and, I am sure, I will return again

Review 59:Breakfast was very basic. Tried to charge me tourist tax (3.5euro) twice - on arrival an on leaving.

Review 60:Good location - 15 minutes from bus station. Clean room. No noise. Staff was very helpful - gave me a map with directions to main attractions. Free WiFi. Good value for money. Was one of the cheapest hotels on my dates. Exceed my expectation.

Review 61:unfriendly and mostly unhelpful staff (chasting a guest that arrives late tried, feeling lost and disoriented first thing when you see them is very strange) some of them act like they are doing you a favor when they honor a request (like giving a blanket because it is so cold - had to be asked twice and grumbled they were busy and couldn't get to you...what the heck could the person have been busy with at 11 pm when one is around?)

Review 62:good location wifi works well clean facilities breakfast included

Review 63:We spent 3 nights at the Hotel and enjoyed every minute and would go back tomorrow! Staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed daily fresh linen and towels. The location of the Hotel couldn't have been better - only about 200m to the main canal water buses with easy access to everywhere. Train station within walking distance.

Review 64:I had no dislikes at the Hotel La Forcola

Review 65:Well placed -e.g. near a Vaporetto bus station on the Grand Canal. It is an old house by a small canal and next to a bridge The Hotel is well placed .on a long and quite busy street. However, the street is generally quiet during the night. The Forcola Hotel clean and well run and the staff are courteous and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room quite adequate . The breakfasts are wholesome and more than adequate.I enjoyed my stay there.

Review 66:windows to open only up from midnight becuase of the buzz of the street

Review 67:good breakfast for italian standards vey central likes the buzz of the city charming view from the 3rd floor

Review 68:Breakfast could be better

Review 69:Room though small was clean and confortable. Staff was very nice. Transportation within a few minutes walk. Excellent location

Review 70:I stayed in the same room, two years ago. Was exactly in the same condition, has not been painted for these years. The elevator was not working at the arrival night.

Review 71:Very good location.

Review 72:Staff speaks very minimal English and they don't give out 'basic' info about the hotel or the city. Like they don't use "0" for the operator/desk but "9". I never thought of that one.

Review 73:It's location on the main street from station to SAINT MARK'S is good I guess but far closer to the station.

Review 74:The breakfast was very poor. No meat, cheese, egg's, fresh fruit or bread to toast. The shower/bath was too small for comfort and llikely to be unusable for anyone with mobility problems.

Review 75:The location, right on the tourist trail. Comfortable bed.

Review 76:Maybe breakfast lady could have produced a little smile now and again

Review 77:The location is probably the most important thing about this hotel It is a short walk from the train station but in a lovely quiet location in probably the nicest region of Venice ie Carnieggo Also the reception staff very helpfull and the room perfect for a short stay Who wants a 5 star in Venice You just want to get out there and see everything

Review 78:Dear sirs, I spend the night from 12.8.-13.8. in your hotel and I was shocked by enter the room. Everything was damage or dirty and not what I expect under a three star's hotel. I contact your colleague at the reception and the told me you're completely booked out and it's impossible to get an other room. To that I have to say that at the next morning an other colleague of you told me it wasn't true because there been still some rooms available. Attach I'm sending you few pictures I did from the mold at the bathroom, the damage lighters, the hole inside the wall and some dirty spots all over the room. this room isn't just disgusting it's a health risk for everyone. I feel cheated and disappointed by all that facts and looking forward to hear from you and hope you have a good solution because this room doesn't worth the 60€ per night!!! Thanks for understanding. Kind regards, Sandy Lentz

Review 79:Hotel La Forcola is situated in a very convenient Strada Nuova, center of the city. Though the room itslf was small, it was quite enough for one person, very well maintained, clean. The front desk is very polite. Many mention about breakfast, but it was enough for starting the day, with high quality of all, what they offered. I would recommend this hotel to other travellars, if they are not very demanding in this expensive city.

Review 80:* breakfast is really poor, everyday same simple thing * WiFi was poor - you have to go downstairs to have good connetion * be prepared there're no other facilities - it's just to stay overnight

Review 81:* location is good - 15 minutes to San Marco, close to other places * provided you are just coming to see the places in Venice - everything you need is there * I got a very good price booking the place lately - but I think it was not a normal situation * it's clean, normal quality of the bathroom, bed's ok. * I got a quite room with a window to the backstreet * there was a desk and enough space for luggage

Review 82:- Not much of a view, though one doesn't travel to Venice to stay in the hotel room - Would be nice to have not only sweet stuff to eat for breakfast - At breakfast, avoid the guest's coffee machine and ask the lady there for a proper coffee, you are in Italy after all :)

Review 83:- A/C in July :) - One can walk very well to the center - Every kind of facilities nearby, supermarkets, ATM, restaurants, etc - Not too far from the main Train Station or the airport-style People Mover from Tronchetto - Vaporetto stop close by
