Reviews for Comfort Inn Port Fairy & Seacombe House
Review 1:The room we stayed in needed updating and was not very comfortable/very basic for the price. Night lights come through the blinds that do not properly cover the door and you can hear next door room easily.
Review 2:This was a reasonably priced and well located hotel. The front desk manager was very polite.
Review 3:Location is great, just two minutes walk to the main street with lots of restaurants n shops. Staff was nice and helpful. She recommended us some good restaurants and we had fabulous dinner there. Room was clean n comfortable. Great value for money.
Review 4:It was a little $$ but I guess that's the price you need to pay for a small town.
Review 5:Great location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Room was clean!
Review 6:Very well-located hotel and smart, comfortable and spacious Triple Room. Steven is everything a great Front Office Manager should be - perceptive, knowledgeable and helpful. Free self-service laundry is a small but wonderful gesture...
Review 7:Not so much a bad experience as a shame that the restaurant wasn't open on the one night we were there
Review 8:Excellent room and location in the town was good. Breakfast superb
Review 9:nil
Review 10:Friendly & obliging staff, nothing was a problem. Location in the main street and a block to the wharf was ideal. Great restaurant in the building. Small garden spaces and trees give a nice relaxed feel about the place.
Review 11:Great location, room was nice, very friendly receptionist who provided some great advice as we were travelling up the Great Ocean Road from Adelaide.
Review 12:Excellent location in the heart of Port Fairy and the staff were very friendly; our accommodation was in the old part of the building and was very comfortable and quiet.
Review 13:A little larger hot water system would be good but it was only a matter of waiting a little while for the water to reheat. Hated leaving after only two nights
Review 14:Fantastic. Excellent property with better than expected facilities, plenty of room, spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Close to the main street and a short drive or walking distance to the beach and closer to the river. Compared with other properties available at the time, good value . Nice outdoor space.
Review 15:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and cool (40 degrees outside) it was quiet and very clean. The decor appeared new and modern. Only a short walk to shops, cafés, restaurants.
Review 16:I didn't like the fact that we paid for a 2 bedroom cottage only to find that the main "bedroom" was a double bed in the kitchen/living room area. Whereas the actual bedroom only had single beds in it
Review 17:Plenty of parking, lovely staff, quiet area but fantastic location (right in town)
Review 18:First contact was with professional and friendly staff at front desk - so helpful and at the same time so efficient and courteous, giving you all the info you needed, didn't know you needed, and more! This info was also generously provided on departure, talk about end-to-end service! The room was amazing - top quality and luxurious fittings, with a capsule coffee machine and real milk (not instant coffee sachets and UHT milk) provided in rooms. Couldn't be faulted. The location is tremendous, just round the corner from all the cafes, cute shops and sites of the Port Fairy. The historic building and surrounds were beautiful and relaxing. Highly recommended for a relaxing visit to a beautiful part of the world.
Review 19:Friendly & helpful staff. Beautiful accommodation. Clean & well kept. Shops, restaurants & cafes all within walking distance. All-in-all 100%!
Review 20:The only thing that could be improved is the attention to detail of the cleanliness. The bathroom floor was clean around the middle but quite dirty around the edges, behind the doors and in corners, with a few cobwebs visible. Does not give confidence to the cleanliness of the rest of the room.
Review 21:The greeting was warm and friendly, the lady who checked us in seemed to do most things there and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent, tasty and good value.
Review 22:We booked the lovely looking 'Seacombe House Double Room GuestHouse', however on arrival were told that we had been"UPGRADED" to the Comfort Inn as there was only one person onstaff that night so all guest were being put into the same building.Although more expensive, the room we were given was dank, dark, datedand boring. Also, the WiFi was "Not working" when we arrived, the lady said she would come and give us the details when it was runningagain, but no such luck. Would not stay here again. Unhappy customer.
Review 23:Location
Review 24:A dark room due to heavy blinds and excessive plant growth by the window.
Review 25:Very clean and very comfortable ground floor room with garden view. Within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants.
Review 26:Bathroom was a little outdated with black grout and very low pressure in the shower
Review 27:Nice size room and central to the town, everything is within walking distance
Review 28:We were staying in the old part of the hotel which is beautifully renovated. The room was really spacious, the bed was large and very comfortable and the ensuite was beautiful with everything we needed. Location was great so we could walk to the shops and dinner and also walked to the beach.
Review 29:The bedrooms were old fashioned and slightly gloomy. The second bedroom was small and there was no view from the window.
Review 30:We stayed in the cottage on the river. Beautiful location with the river flowing at the end of the garden terrace. Lovely kitchen diner room overlooking the river. Port Fairy was a great place to stay at the end of the Gt Ocean Road.
Review 31:Quit a lot
Review 32:On arrival the manager said your early and if you slip on the bathroom floor it's your own fault (how rude) the room was just bigger than the bed so no room for our case's and no room for us, I'd give this one a miss!
Review 33:4 women and 1 bathroom with the toilet inside it . It would be better if there was a toilet elsewhere.
Review 34:It was very close to everything. Very cosy. Great price.
Review 35:The owner is lovely! Told us all the dining options and how late they would be open. Supplied with a map and activities to do! Large room with king size bed, bathroom modern and large (very nice!). Good wifi. Overall very lovely stay and would highly recommend!!
Review 36:Used cup left on the beside table and one side of the Queen bed unmade.
Review 37:Location was central Free upgrade to family room for 3 of us Staff was help in finding a great restaurant for dinner on a Sunday night.
Review 38:Room slightly dated, but I'm very much nit picking here. This made nothing of a lesser experience. Would love to have had breakfast included in the room.
Review 39:Another great stop over place on the fantastic Great Ocean Road. Room was bit and perfect for us. Had everything we needed for overnight stay. Bed was comfortable for a much needed rest. Best of all was the chap at front desk. I cant recall his name but he was brilliant. After a long day on the road it was brilliant to have a friendly welcoming. Although we missed out on a table to the in house restaurant we were given loads of alternatives which worked out perfectly. pizza and some nice cold beers were brilliant. On departure I could not decide on our next stop and the front desk said we had to go to the Grampians. I thank you sir for this advice because it was probably the best part of the trip scenery wise. Brilliant place. Would recommend this place to all.
Review 40:Nearly drowned in the wet room/ shower !! Definitely was awash by the time I finished ...though plenty of hot water !!!
Review 41:Perfect central position, pleasantly clean and well maintained room, quiet and private.
Review 42:Although the room was a little small, and the hallway leading into the room narrow, we enjoyed our stay. The car parking was not adequate for the amount of guests. We prefer to not park our car outside on the street as we have had problems with this on a previous occasion in another location.
Review 43:The house is a lovely old place, renovated to a great standard. It is centrally located and we were able to walk to town, cafes, restaurants, shops and the wharf. This made it more relaxing and not having to get a park was great.
Review 44:One bathroom with four adults sharing
Review 45:Location, overlooking the Moyne River and one block away from the main shopping streets. With easy walking distance to restaurants.
Review 46:The room was not how I imagined , Very small with an uncomfortable bed. Left our suitcases in the car as there was no room for them in the room
Review 47:Very central to everything
Review 48:It was rather small but this added to the character of the building.
Review 49:Loved the old building and the restaurant menu looked delicious but unfortunately because it was a Saturday night it was booked out. The rooms were done up very nicely although small, but there was great ambience with old world charm. Would definitely go back again and would book the restaurant in advance.
Review 50:n/a
Review 51:Modern hotel attached to a heritage building, very well thought out. Large room and a huge bathroom/walk-in shower. Centrally located for most things in this small town.
Review 52:For 6 of us, it would have been better if the toilet had not been in bathroom. Maybe a second toilet in the laundry would overcome this problem
Review 53:Staying in a very old, historic cottage right in town, very well furnished and very comfortable and spacious. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 54:room very small. no room for lounge chairs. bentwood chairs very uncomfortable when sitting for an extended period. breakfast not available early enough for our schedule. (8am)
Review 55:Room is very small but good value for the money. If you want luxury pay more for their larger rooms in the new section.
Review 56:The location is terrific right in the heart of the town
Review 57:Not sure if there was a supermarket - some restaurants not open all the time.
Review 58:We stayed in the "river haven cottage" by the river. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped laundry and kitchen. It was very quiet and peaceful yet close to all shops and main street
Review 59:Hard bed and pillows. Over powering smell of bleach in crockery and could not use cups. Room not attached to main hotel but down the street from others. Only one bathroom for 3 bedroom house.
Review 60:location ok but on street front .
Review 61:N/a
Review 62:Its very close to the shops. Steven has been very helpful and pleasant. He showed us places where to eat and fish etc. It was very enjoyable weekend away.
Review 63:Nothing
Review 64:Everything! Lovely quiet location, spotlessly clean and comfortable large room. Coffee machine an unexpected bonus. Would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend. Friendly and informative staff.
Review 65:Main building small rooms with very small balcony ,where we were located , lack of space - off season & overpriced.
Review 66:Central CBD location- Historic building renovated - Fragmentated layout.
Review 67:What's not to like!
Review 68:This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. To be fair we were upgraded which was a nice surprise. We would have loved to have stayed longer.
Review 69:Nothing.
Review 70:In a property originally built in the 19th century, the renovation had created a bright, charming big room with about the best bathroom (recently done) and shower we have come across. The other end of the scale from the awful bathroom/shower at the Grand Chancellor Hobart, where we stayed recently and that was $60 a day MORE expensive. Loved the sloping floor, revealing its ancient origins.
Review 71:The accommodation was conveniently located. The room was clean and spacious. Inclusions such as free Wifi, in-room coffee machine and access to filtered water were appreciated.
Review 72:Nil
Review 73:Convenient location, spacious room, efficient check in even though we were late after 9:00pm, the rooms were unlocked, keys left in the rooms n wifi vouchers n code were left in the rooms! The counter staff also waited for our arrival.
Review 74:Great location in a wonderful historic building in centre of beautiful Port Fairy. Stylish white linen, clean, rooms with personality. friendly staff and great value for money.
Review 75:My teenage children mentioned the chairs in our room were uncomfortable.
Review 76:The staff gave exceptional service on arrival and departure. My teenage children loved the free wifi. All town facilities are walking distance.
Review 77:This property is well situated in the town. The staff are very helpful in suggesting places to go and where you can find a good meal. Our room was very clean and well maintained and we would recommend anybody to stay hear. Good value for money.
Review 78:Room size was small. The only downside to the stay.
Review 79:The room was clean with an individual airconditioning unit. Value for money. Reception was helpful in giving directions.
Review 80:The Matilda Cottage has been beautifully presented in every detail. We were very pleasantly surprised by the standard and comfort. This is a special place to stay.
Review 81:Nothing, the property was perfect.
Review 82:Built around the mid 1800's has a home for a Sea Captain is in out standing conditions. The manager of the property is VERY helpful on what to do during your stay.
Review 83:Our group arrived on motorbikes on a cold day in September. The staff member who greeted us was extremely helpful suggesting places to see and dine and had put the heating on in our rooms which was very much appreciated. We stayed in a room called 'Gun Alley' which was very comfortable and we hope to return again when the weather is a little warmer.
Review 84:Excellent location n ambience and the fact that we got an upgrade to a king room made the stay a memorable experience! Staff was very courteous and helpful too.
Review 85:Clean sheets but not ironed. Bit worried when getting into bed on first night but checked sheets out on the housekeepers trolley the next morning and clean sheets were not pressed. Relaxed on night 2.
Review 86:COmfortable large room.
Review 87:The location was within walking distance of all the shops and attractions. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room service was prompt and the breakfast was delicious.
Review 88:The staff were lovely and could not do enough for us. Free upgrade to a nicer room, very accommodating of our 10 week old! Would definitely recommend.
Review 89:The room got very cold overnight and when we woke up very cold early on we couldn't work out the heater and ended up with just the fan on by mistake. Worked it out when we got up a couple of hours later though.
Review 90:Location in Port Fairy was great along with the welcome upon check-in and the recommendations of things to do (we wouldn't have walked round Griffiths Island without the suggestion). We had a room in the old house and it was clean, with charactor. Not sure why the Booking.com picture isn't of Seacombe House instead of the Comfort Inn element....
Review 91:Bad timing for us, as the resturant was closed for annual holidays, so had to go elsewhere for food. But everyones entitled to a holiday :-) Found a great pub down the road - The Stump which served great food. Lovely stay in Port Fairy!
Review 92:I loved the quaintness of this room. Although it was a little small, this was to be expected as it was a guest room in the main building. The bed was really comfy and great shower!
Review 93:Service was excellent, staff very friendly. Lovely fresh local milk on arrival. Great location and rooms were really comfortable. Nice hot showers and easy to relax.
Review 94:The restaurant wasn't to my taste, but there are many options close by so it wasn't a problem
Review 95:Beautiful rooms , lovely ensuite , nice place to stay
Review 96:There was no water to make cups of tea/ coffee. I asked staff and got a small amount. When I needed more there was no staff around. I waited for a while then gave up. The folder said there was a dispenser at reception but there wasn't. Also staff were banging around in the room that our bed head rested against. It was disturbing/ noisy. Cold wind coming in the bathroom window so it was too cold to shower. We couldn't close the window.
Review 97:Great location & friendly staff.
Review 98:the open log fire was pure bliss, a very cosy room with a sofa in front of the fire. The bathroom was huge with a spa bath. Very clean with a really good little kitchenette big enough to cook 4 adults, two of them teenagers, a good breakfast in the morning. Close to the town and to the beach.
Review 99:When we arrived we were given a free upgrade to a beautiful 1844 cottage with corner spa, open fire and kitchenette. Perfect for our young family of 5. We had a wonderful stay. Thankyou

Review 102:Fireplace didn't operate as expected - lots of smoke in the room. Didn't matter, Heater works perfectly!
Review 103:Great location, excellent apartment for family of 4.
Review 104:Ran out of hot water on two separate occasions. Bed wasn't very comfy.
Review 105:Great location, with a heater and electric blankets. Free filtered water. Clean and modern.
Review 106:The staff were super friendly and more than helpful with any of our requests/questions. Also the room was quiet large and had more than enough space for all our belongings. Would defiantly stay again :) Lovely garden and very close to the town centre.
Review 107:Location was spot on, off the main road but only five minute walk to cafes and restaurants. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Electric blankets were appreciated as very cold nights. Would definitely stay again.

Review 119:We rolled up after a long drive and received a friendly welcome and an in depth run down on the history of the property, and also the surrounding area. By the end of our stay we were ready to continue on with our journey feeling refreshed and happy we chose to stay here.
Review 120:Room allocated next to storeroom with chef very noisy, in & out banging door & what ever else until 10.15pm, wall actually flexed moving bedhead.
Review 121:Had abysmal weather with heavy rain (not hotel's fault). Bedroom roof developed small water leak over bed which we moved to clear. Staff more or less shrugged shoulders and said they couldn't do anything about it. May have been true but didn't appreciate attitude.
