Review 1：The best location in Ericeira. Book the sea view room, and there will be not a lot of things you still wish (all the rest you already have in hands being there).

Review 2：The mattresses seemed worn and hard, two single beds next to each other kept separating. The carpet, room 211 very stained and damp in certain areas. The two upright desk/dining chairs were very uncomfortable for watching tv. In addition the two chairs and side table on the balcony were not in keeping with a 4 star hotel. Definitely recommend two arm chairs in the room and at least adjustable loungers on the balcony. The restaurant in general was good, the buffet was not to our taste and repetitive, so not worth €22 however the a la carte menu had a good selection and the steaks were good. Please ask the chef to have one or two different fresh cooked vegetables every day, other than the disgusting vegetable au gratin, which was presented in a square tower, looked like lasagne, just seems for me a lazy way of offering cooked vegetables. The waiters were excellent!! The bathroom, very small, the bath very narrow and slippery, I had to place the foot towel in the bath so that I would not fall. The shower head was totally inadequate, pretty much a hand shower on a wobbly hook. The water pressure up and down temperature kept fluctuating hot/cold.

Review 3：Excellent service from every member of the staff. The view and location of course. Breakfasts were good with variety. Room service excellent. Extra pillows in the room Kettle, tea and coffee service, except when you're there for 4 nights, they do not replenish automatically, you have to request refills of especially milk. Although we did not take advantage of the extra facilities the hotel offered, eg. Spa, gym and swimming pools, they were all there and looked interesting. Wifi was good. Parking was good, however quiet time of the year, so not sure that it would be adequate in season. We requested a balcony with a view, unfortunately there was a great big Palm Tree in the way of the view, we requested to be moved and it was done without an issue. Not sure why the tree can not be trimmed, removed, replaced with something else. Very pretty but it obscures the view, which is frustrating.

Review 4：The only thing I didn't enjoyed was the fact to have to leave the premises of the hotel to go to the health centre. After the jacuzzi and sauna it is a bit annoying have to come outside to be able to go back to the hotel. The cleanliness could be improved.

Review 8：This is a fantastic hotel. The location is magnificent and it is something else to wake up every morning to a fantastic sea view. The view in our original room was blocked by a tall tree so we asked to move and it was no issue. The breakfast is lovely and plentiful. The location of the hotel is perfect and the staff are very pleasant. It was quiet in the evenings but it is the end of the season so that is to be expected.

Review 9：It's a great location, near to everything. But the best is, it is directly next to the sea. The stuff is very friendly and helpful! We always enjoined the breakfast, especially because there is a big variety. And we loved the two adults pools :) when you relax at the sun loungers you can see and hear the waves... In the morning you can most of times see some surfers in front of the hotel. Also it's near to the surf spots.

Review 10：Breakfast although varied was of poor quality. Fresh fruit never looked really fresh and what was supposed to be hot,such as bacon and egg was always just warm and on one occasion actually cold, the bottled water was also warm.

Exceptionally tranquil, beautiful old hotel full of character. Am now staying in Vila Gale Caiscais and there is NO comparison . Can't wait to return to Villa Gaile Ericeira :)

Review 14：Other guests were very load and walls are very thin. Mattresses are old and well-used, making them uncomfortable to sleep on. We had booked a sea view room, however, view was blocked by a tree. Wifi in rooms was very poor. Fixtures and fittings very outdated.

Review 20：Ericeira is a beautiful place and the hotel Vila Galé could not be better situated. It's a characterful building with a striking green tile roof and has been superbly modernised with very simple clean lines throughout the interior decor. You would have to be travelling with the sole purpose of finding fault to have any problem with it. The room was spacious, the air conditioning worked perfectly by remote control, the breakfast buffet was enormous and lasted through till 10.30am with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. If you can afford a sea view go for it, as the town side has a small funfair, which shuts around midnight and is great if you're travelling with kids under 10 as we were, but which does make a little noise. But then what B&B, or hotel anywhere in the world isn't a bit noisy with weddings, discos, conferences, late bars etc? The staff both at the hotel and at restaurants and cafés throughout the town are incredibly helpful, patient and accommodating and genuinely concerned for your enjoyment. Obviously it's a tourist economy but you won't get the same treatment everywhere in Europe. The hotel pools are wonderful and the views across to the Praia Sol are stunning with huge Atlantic breakers sweeping past the hotel terrace all day. Wifi is free at the hotel these days, but unless you're in the middle of some big business deal, why not forget about the internet and just enjoy fabulous sun, swimming and seafood? Loved it!

Review 21：Booked a balcony room and requested a high floor!!! Was told at check in no high floor rooms available!? Our assigned room was on the ground floor.... It was dark and damp! Complained to reception, to which they agreed that these rooms are seldom used, therefore damp and smell. They then proceeded to assign us a room on the higher floors!!

Review 31：Whilst every effort was made to move my husband and myself to a room with a balcony as was expected upon book in the new room during the course of our stay became increasingly more smelly kind of musty and damp. I assume this room is rarely used but it wasn't up to the usual standard we have come to expect as regular guests at this beautiful hotel. It wouldn't stop us from returning however.

Review 32：Beautiful hotel, exceptionally helpful staff and exceptionally polite, particularly the breakfast waiter who stepped in and set us up a lovely table with a view when another couple twice swept in and took ours whilst we were getting food. Watching the ocean is so relaxing and the interior and pool of the hotel are perfect. This is why we keep coming back. A confusion with our booking was quickly and professionally handled and we were moved within 5 minutes of check in.

Review 33：There was no Iron provided in the room and the charge for the safe is off putting. This is not a cheap hotel and therefore I would expect the safe to be included in the price

The staff are all very friendly and look after everything. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel highly. We hope to visit again soon.

Review 44：The only bad thing was that the jacuzzi and turkish sauna was closed with no notice however the manager compensated me as a result - we all won in the end ! The staff was very accommodating.

Review 56：First impression about the place, then you entering your room - is like to step out of time mashine and the time there is like 1889.. its not looks that old.. but it just feels all the place very old and dramatik.. for a moment i was expecting that Queen Victoria shoud stay in the room next door.. :)

Review 58：- Unacceptable to pay for internet in the rooms in the 21st century. Simply unacceptable! - Mades are quite superficial in cleaning. More can be done to improve this. - When staying over a longer period, breakfast although quite rich, it will never change and become really boring.

Review 60：We just ate on our first night in the" A La Carte Restaurant" of the hotel. Both my wife and myself were disappointed with the quality of the food. On complaining to the waiter the situation was quickly and proffessionaly resloved, so apart from the disappointment of the main courses I could not ask for more

Review 61：The position was perfect for walking into Ericeira. The breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of hot and cold foods. Parking was not a problem for us even on the last weekend in August. The rooms were very clean and we had good use of our sea view balcony. Good quality restaurants etc were very close. Reception staff were very helpful,as were the waiters in the restaurant.

From the moment we arrived, everything was very poor; hotel misrepresented, services lacking (parking for our car in a town with very limited parking despite their website that offers parking for guests). Food was inedible, even a tuna sandwich could not have been worse, and room faced an amusement park which was loud and ugly.
