Reviews for Les Lataniers Bleus

Review 1:The 9.2 quotation is overrated and creates expectations this place does not meet. Breakfast is weak with limited choice and poor quality coffee and juice. Lack of good restaurants in neighbourhood. Guest table is offered sometimes but not everybody enjoys chared tables with all hosts

Review 2:Very charming location, quiet beach. Clean rooms. Josette knows to help you out with all you could need or ask.

Review 3:The whole place has a distinctive character and feels like a personal expression of the owner, Josette. The villa itself is lovingly decorated; the garden around it is picturesque and full of birds. This place may not be for everyone. Josette specifically creates a "table d'hotes", i.e. visitors share a common table for dinner, the idea being to facilitate social interaction, and the hostess plays a large part in this. It has been a great pleasure to have a chat with Josette over aperitif and she served us the dinner herself. Creole cuisine of her making was delicious! The sea is directly accessible, there is no fence. The bay is pretty shallow: you may want high tide to swim. The beach is sandy, no rocks when entering the water.

Review 4:Nothing.

Review 5:We really enjoyed our stay from the first minute. Beautiful location, stunning garden, 50m to the quired(!!!), empty beach. If it's low tide you can't swim, but take a walk into the ocean for about 400m. Perfect place for snorkeling as well. Lovely host and stuff. As the owner says, it's not a 5 star new hotel, but it's a beautiful guesthouse where you will find everything you need. South east of Mauritius was for us the best location on the island. The north it's really touristic.

Review 6:The front beach, the garden (!), the sunsets, the warm welcome of the crew (including the guard)!, the breakfast at the beach, ... ...and that there's no fence around the property!

Review 7:In case you get only a room with "garden view", you may be disappointed and do not enjoy the athmosphere as beautiful as it is.

Review 8:It is a guest-house - not a Hotel. And it has very different types of rooms. In case you get a room in the ocean-front Villa, it is superb: you'll have a huge living room with an even larger terrace -directly on a beautiful Stretch of the beach. If not, rooms vary a lot. The owner/host is very friendly and helpful and personally prepares optional dinners in a stunning Setting.

Review 9:The only bad thing was that we had to leave before the famous dinner on Monday.

Review 10:Beautiful guesthouse with some rooms and villas. Breakfast at the beach under the trees. The host Madame Josette and the whole staff are very friendly and always anxious that everything is perfect for their guests.

Review 11:compared to other (nearly as good acccomodations) a bit overpriced in costs per night, drinks and food. maybe not the pensions fault, however, location is not optimal if you dont have a car available.

Review 12:very clean and tidy, private beach (with beach furniture), excellent breakfast (at the beach), well decorated personal rooms, modern bathroom, fast wifi, nice dinner option, friendly staff, free coffee/tea

Review 13:Nithing

Review 14:An ideal location for peace and tranquility. I did a lot of research before booking lateniers bleu. Mauritius is my homeland but li now live in England and I come to Mauritius every few years. I wanted somewhere to relax for a few days by myself before moving on to spend the rest of my holiday with family and friends and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Josette, the owner was very welcoming as well as the rest of the staff. Special thanks to Bayou Sunil and Hanz for being so helpful and going out of their way for me. I will definitely go back there......

Review 15:Very welcoming hostess. Beautiful beachfront location. Price included a delicious breakfast served on tables by the beach - a relaxing way to start the day!

Review 16:One of the most welcoming places ever. I loved absolutely everything. Amazing breakfast on the beach, perfect location, great evenings at the dinner, very friendly and helpful staff, and Josette is a fantastic host! She made me feel in Mauritius like at home. Will absolutely come back to Les Lataniers Bleus!

Review 17:There was absolutely nothing we didn't like

Review 18:Everything: the breakfast on the beach, the position, the rooms, the view, the staff. Dinner is excellent. Josette is the perfect host. We definitely recommend it!

Review 19:The location right on the beach, including breakfast served on the beach. Nice birdlife in the large garden and very quiet. Rooms clean and comfortable with a work desk. Also option to work at tables on veranda or at tables in garden near beach. Josette and her staff go the extra mile to provide friendly and efficient service in a homely atmosphere.

Review 20:Beautiful and quiet place for a relaxing vacation. Hotel manager is receptive to all questions and requirements, so that in every order. Good position for excursions around the island. You can hire a taxi driver to the contracted manager at a certain price for the day. The cabbie you will devote all the time shows also the places that are not accessible. From Monday to Friday can be ordered for a fee the dinner, which is very tasty mostly local specialties. Breakfast which was included with stunning ocean view. Highly recommended

Review 21:Josette was the perfect host, making us feel incredibly welcome, she was very helpful in giving us advice on things to do, places to visit, organising our transport etc. the evening aperitif and dinner cooked by herself was excellent. We couldn't fault her service. Our room was also very clean and just what we needed for our 3 night stay. We found the guesthouse in the lonely planet guide and are so pleased we stayed to experience the chambre d'hôte Mauritian style! It was also a very nice experience to meet other guests and have the dinner with them exchanging stories about our holiday in Mauritius and lives.

Review 22:Booking asks what we did not like, well it's simple: we didn't stay long enough at Lataniers Bleus!

Review 23:We spend the first 10 days of Sept. 2015 at Lataniers Bleus and have really enjoyed our stay there. The place is located on a beautiful part of the lagoon, is professionally run in all aspects, and the manager gives you the feeling you are at home. We valued the authenticity of the place, the breakfasts by the sea, the excellent dinners on the terrace, and the truly shakespearean night watchman.

Review 24:Josette and all the staff members are very kind and available. The breakfast in the beach is amazing and the experience of the dinner together with the other guests is great!

Review 25:The location was amazing. Right on the beach, local facilities excellent (super market, doctor, pharmacy, 2 very good restaurants and a lot more) all walking distance. You can also have lunch and dinner here and the food is also very good. They cater for veggies and meat eaters alike but I recommend you eat the fish....out of this world. Owners and staff all great and we felt very safe, welcome and looked after. If you want a island holiday with comfort this is for you. Young, old or family it's all good. The beach is very safe just wear beach shoes to go in the ocean (sea urchins are about from time to time) no real current to worry about and very shallow. Lot to visit on the island, we had a car and loved it. Go, every day breakfast on the beach to start the day (and they make the best omelet I've ever eaten).

Review 26:It's Tranquility, nature and the walk through lovely tropical garden directly onto pretty Mauritian beach...idyllic. Madam josette could not be kinder or more accommodating, with a wicked sense of humour. Her staff are likewise. Lunch and dinners were absolutely delicious we ate out a couple of times but nothing compared to the food 'at home'!

Review 27:This hotel is there to make you relax. I know, I have a hard time doing so, but they manage. Is everything perfect? No, the room is good in size, but the bathroom is just functional. But if designer perfect rooms is what you are looking for, this is not your place. The key here, is the location, the perfect setting for breakfast at the beach. The lush garden, the sort of livingroom but most of all the picture perfect views.

Review 28:-

Review 29:Warm atmosphere, created by Mme Josette with her smiling staff reigns here. The houses are in a lovely tropical garden that continues to the beach. Our room was pretty, very comfortable with ac and kept spotlessly clean. We recommend the dinners on the terrace, three courses, lovely local cuisine, fresh fish. And the rum punch aperitive... Want to order a taxi, go fishing, reserve a table at a restaurant; just ask, everything is organised for you. This is a perfect place for an exotic holiday with a local and personal touch.

Review 30:wifi just soso.

Review 31:the host is a good woman. She emphasized to me that the room was not a hotel, was a guest house. We attended her guest gathering, it was very interesting. the room is clean, the place is beautiful. All people are very kind. I like this place.

Review 32:1. Beach: the beach in front of the hotel is not deep at all. But is is good for dry small children. 2. The furniture is very old and worn off 3. The breakfast is very poor 4. Not many restaurants around the hotel 5. Wifi is bad

Review 33:The hotel owner is very nice. The beach is pretty.

Review 34:Not many dining options nearby, however we were there over New Year when most places are closed. Josette, the owner, helpfully made bookings for guests at places that were open.

Review 35:Beach was lovely! No rocks underfoot in the sea. Large room, plenty of space in the kitchens to store and prepare food. Friendly hosts.

Review 36:Great place to stay.. My french is terrible, but had plenty folks that helped me struggle thru.. Enjoyable, good food, breakfast on the beach is excellent

Review 37:Some of the facilities were a little tired or lacking . Our bedroom could have done with some updating . We understand it is going to be modernised and would be happy to go back when this has taken place.

Review 38:The location, staff and the owner were all great and we had a very pleasant stay . Josette was extremely helpful and hospitable .

Review 39:No cheese, ham or eggs for breakfast. If you want eggs, you have to pay10 Euro extra! Expected the rooms and the bathroom to be a bit nicer, considering the price.

Review 40:Breakfast on the beach is cool. What you pay for is the locationdirectly on the beach, which is amazing.

Review 41:nothing

Review 42:The location is brilliant, litterally on the beautiful beach of riviere noire. The main building is beautifully furnished as well as the rooms that are always spotless. The owner is another pearl not to miss: she will always spoil you with a glass of home made punch and a great home made dinner but at the same time will let you have your privacy and freedon. There were days where I was alone in the big house with just a couple of other guests, free to use the optional big kitchen as well as the huge wide screen. The dinner together, moreover, where delightfully: you really get to know new people without invading their privacy but enjoying together a fantastic dinner overlooking the indian ocean. The beach was great, with different sun beds (no artificial fake beache obviously but a natural one) and it was "cleaned" everyday. I'm quite surprise of one of the reviews above as I stayed at lataniers bleus during the same period and none of the above problem was encountered. Well of course this is a wild island with lots of life and animals: a gecko in your room is only a good thing as it'll get rid of flyes and mosquitos, and could never care less of your presence! well I guess some people come to mauritius expecting to find Brighton instead of a natural paradise!

Review 43:Absolutely quiet location. Nevertheless, there are good restaurants in walking distance. The caring support by the staff and by the owner. All this made it my most pleasant stay in Mauritius after many trips to the island since 2006.

Review 44:Very nice and friendly place. Perfect for single people or couples. The beach is fantastic!

Review 45:private atmosphere and very friendly personal every morning breakfast at the beach

Review 46:The pretty bird filled garden and very private beach

Review 47:Nothing!

Review 48:Everything! Lovely location on the beach, turquoise water, beautiful rooms, lovely food and hosting!

Review 49:Location is stunning, right on the beach with mountain backdrop

Review 50:Beautiful garden and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 51:bed a little small

Review 52:location on the beach villa by the pool quiet terrace area friendly & helpful staff

Review 53:Everything, and in particular the nice friendly atmoshere during the dinners shared with the other guests. Thank you Josette!

Review 54:Peaceful and quiet, staff very friendly! I would hope to return again in the near future..

Review 55:Lovely quiet relaxing guesthouse with brilliant welcoming host, fantastic food.

Review 56:The depth of the ocean water on the hotel shore.

Review 57:The location was good. The host and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 58:Extremely friendly staff, nice place, common dinners with other guests, unforgetable sunsets,..

Review 59:The beach was very dirty, in the nights is a bit unsecure, because it is open beach. I was sitting on the table on the beach during the day and behind the trees i saw a man doing obscene things and observing me,then he run away. In the rooms, and everywhere there were a lot of lizards .I had around 10 every night in my room. There was no TV and mini bar in the room as it was mentioned. TV and minibar were in the common areas only.

Review 60:The staff were really nice! location is perfect - near bus stop, near shops.View to the beach is nice.

Review 61:If you are looking for a warmly family managed maison d’hote in a charming place, with an exotic garden, the beach and the blu ocean just in front of you, breakfast with the singing birds… a good local cuisine… Les Lataniers Blues with Madame Josette is the right place for you. Elio and Margherita, Milan, Italy, May 2014

Review 62:Excellent location, very welcoming hosts, amazing seaside and nice dinners prepared with thought and share with other guests. Very convenient to discover the main sights of the island. Thanks for the experience!

Review 63:Our room was a little gloomy but it had everything we needed.

Review 64:Convivial drinks and dinners with other guests, hosted by owner Josette.Idyllic shaded beachside setting for delightful breakfasts. Lovely beachalmost to yourselves, with safe, calm lagoon swimming. The handful ofguest rooms and houses scattered through the tropical gardens, enlivenedby birdsong. This is a calm paradise for chilling out. We rarely returnto places we have visited in the world - there is so much else to see -but we are seriously considering returning to Les Lataniers Bleus inMauritius.

Review 65:Got tired of the same breakfast every day for 7 days. Could have been more creative or offered some ham/cheese in addition to fruit/bread/preserves.

Review 66:Loved how convenient the position was to all the good beaches on the West Coast. Scooter hire & supermarket close by. Lovely food in the evenings but fairly costly on a South African budget. The addition of a small craft to get over reef to snorkel would be good addition.
