Reviews for Rocha Brava Village Resort
Review 1:The kitchen was tired. The washing machine was very rusty and old, I would be worried that it would ruin my clothes. The dishwasher was very old. The patios and patio furniture was not cleaned.
Review 2:We loved the property and the layout of the apartment we were in, beautiful views and a good location for us
Review 3:Very spacious unit more like a townhouse then a hotel room...kitchen, living room, fireplace, washing machine etc. Unbelievable price during the time we stayed in late December. Even supply free shuttle into town 3 times a day (approx. 3km)...we didn't use as we had a rental car. Definitely the best value we had while travelling Portugal during the 3 weeks vacation.
Review 4:Strong mildew odor in the Bedrooms (we stayed in January)
Review 5:Good location, excellent hotel territory, plentiful kitchen equipment, friendly and helpful stuff
Review 6:Nothing bad, everything good. Though anyone looking for the nightlife and wanting to party might be challenged at this time of year. We didn't want that, so it wasn't a problem for us.
Review 7:Was very quiet and peaceful 26 Dec to 31 Dec. Not many people about and enjoyed a super relax. Lovely well kept gardens to enjoy on sunny days and we had a spacious comfortable villa. We self catered with a well equipped kitchen and dining facilities. Lots of big supermarkets at nearby Lagoa for stocking up on supplies. We had a car hire for the duration and found it a perfect location for a base from which to explore beaches, birdwatching sites and historic towns of the Algarve. Overall, an idyllic mid winter break from the hustle and bustle back home.
Review 8:It would be amazing if the main pool could be heated during the colder months.
Review 9:Quality of accommodation, well maintained and attractive gardens, facilities great!
Review 10:Dated .....dis floors were in terrible condition the whole place needs an overhaul kitchen layout very poor very disappointed with cooking vessels and dishware. Not a 4 star rated resort in our opinion!
Review 11:Extra cost of us No facilities like gym and tennis courts. Certain staff (mainly reception) not helpful and a little rude. Some of the facilities in the room and around the site in poor condition and not wot working.
Review 12:Cliff walk, good pools, some staff very friendly and some good restaurants close by.
Review 13:The first apartment was not to our liking as it had a poor outlook over a carpark but your staff soon remedied that and gave us a lovely apt with a lovely outlook
Review 14:The beautiful view and sunsets
Review 15:The shop onsite is rather expensive -- but that is hardly surprising, and large supermarkets are just a 15 minute drive away.
Review 16:This was our second visit to Rocha Brava and it was even better than the first. The location is fabulous -- a green and peaceful complex adjoining wonderful cliff walks. Staff are friendly and courteous, facilities are excellent and we had seven days of glorious sunshine in November. What's not to like? -- Highly recommended.
Review 17:A little distance from the rest of the places in Algarve.
Review 18:Love the environment, quiet and exclusive. And close to the cliff top walk. Love waking up to the sound of sea waves too. The apartment is nice and clean will all the facilities we need. We had a very relax and pleasant stay here.
Review 19:Car park a bit far from apartment. First floor apartment not easy to access with luggage. Dated furniture.
Review 20:Large resort with lots of facilities and very quiet at this time of the year
Review 21:The 2 bdrm suite was very nice but it would have been great had there been a 2nd bathroom. Other than that everything was very nice. Location was far from any supermarkets for supplies but great for tranquility.
Review 22:The resort is very nicely kept, staff were proficcient in English and French. Grounds are immaculate and the atmosphere was very quiet and tranquil. A very nice resort overall.
Review 23:No nothing wrong only glitch the lack of internet in the villas. Only available at the reception and near the restaurant
Review 24:location, staff efficiency, tennis club formula available on the complex
Review 25:A beautiful, peaceful resort in the middle of nowhere. You can really recharge your batteries in here making use of swimming pools, tennins courts, gym, etc.
Review 26:Love the location, restaurant options, pools, beautiful grounds, air conditioned and well equipped accommodation, Wifi and UK TV, Tennis & ping pong.
Review 27:The villa was disgusting and we had to be moved. It had not been cleaned and had clumps of hair in the bedrooms, bathrooms and on the patio like someone had cleaned their hairbrushes. The grill in the oven was hanging off.The shower leaked all over the floor which was dangerous. The decor was very grubby and run down. The sofa was filthy with stains and food. The matresses on the beds very thin. The tiles in the bathrooms were cracked and broken and the grout disgusting, ants were running everywhere. Definately not a four star rating and not what I would have expected. We were in a seaview villa and they seemed more run down than the rest of the resort.
Review 28:The facilities were good. The pools excellent. The snack bar was good and their staff very friendly and efficient. The gardens were well maintained in the most part.
Review 29:The house had too many ants verywhere, they should be more careful with this issue becouse it can get unconfortable. There were less towels that what it shoud be, we had to wait 2 days to get enought towels for everyone.
Review 30:The houses were great, the localization is the best, the pools are amazing and the resort is quite and we had an amazing relax time.
Review 31:I am 69 my wife 70 and we found the beds hard and very basic. the bedroom shutters were broken so we could not open them which left the bedroom dark most of the time. Free Wi Fi is a good thing to provide but if it does not work then its best not to say its available. The were cracks in some of the drinking mugs and when I booked for an apartment with a sea view I did expect to see a reasonable view of it not a slither overv the foreground
Review 32:Location was good, staff great, ammenities were good and I thought good value for my money overall but there were some downsides.
Review 33:On site shop very expensive but cheap supermarkets short drive/ taxi ride away. Baby pool wasn't very warm. Found pain pool to be warmer.
Review 34:Lovely apartment which was newly refurbished and perfect place for us to relax with our 3 month old baby. Maids were fantastic and was spotless with plenty of fresh clean towels.
Review 35:From the inside, everything looked a bit old and the walls were very dirty. For sure it didn't feel like four stars from the inside - but rather like two. I'm not afraid of ants, but they were everywhere inside the place, including in the kitchen. Not very close to the beach or the town (but a free shuttle was available). Wifi didn't work. Gym was very strange and old. No good price-quality relation! For this price, we had real four star experiences in the past.
Review 36:The little houses and gardens are extremely cute from the outside and very well maintained (from the outside). Staff was helpful - except on our day of arrival, we didn't feel welcomed at all. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. Breakfast was ok. Good Tennis facilities+great teacher.
Review 37:Dated décor and furnishings, some damaged bits of furniture, unused tiles hidden in cupboards and a few mod-cons in need of replacement. Sea view apartments were a decent walk away from central facilities
Review 38:Fantastic location, well maintained and mature grounds, spacious duplex.
Review 39:Wifi was intermittent. Apartment servicing was patchy
Review 40:Good location walking distance to nearest beach, Carvoeiro centre a short taxi or decent walk away
Review 41:Reception staff were not very happy and made checking in rather flat. Rather sad when collecting keys at 3.00pm that they could not give out the keys as it was 3 minutes to go (exact words).
Review 42:Superb complex with excellent facilities.
Review 43:my 2 daughters and I stayed in rocha brava apartment for 4 days last week. we stayed as a family of 6 last year and it was truly brilliant but this time, there were 2 single beds made up, and a child fold up bed left in the room. my daughters are 17 and 29 the bed was fit for 5-9 yr old. we had to go to reception and get sheets to make up the couch bed ourselves (not good when you are on holidays) if one slept on the couch it meant that there were no blinds on the large window just a light curtain therefore sun was in the room from very very early in morning. we had booked and paid for 3 persons. we also were only supplied with towels etc for 2 persons. It was very disappointing. Our fridge door was broken and a person came to fix it the day after we reported it but in fact he made it worse so all our food stuff was not cold.....very very bad , we reported all this to the manageress as we were very very upset our holiday was ruined .....she thought a refund was appropriate but said because it was booked with you they could not refund us anything. I would be very interested to hear your replies.......
Review 44:I liked the self catering idea
Review 45:Appalling wifi Freezing cold swimming pools Dark wood furniture
Review 46:The gardens, local restaurants the weather Transferred to HPB property in same resort and the apartment is far nicer.
Review 47:1. We were refused an extra bedclothes for our 1 year old child. 2. Check-in took almost 30 minutes and there was no one in front of us. 3. the village is maximum 3 star 4. appartment was old / not renovated 5. wifi didn't really exist.
Review 48:weather was nice
Review 49:Wifi was intermittent and there was a long walk to facilities
Review 50:Proximity to small pool for children. Very quiet and peaceful site with no disturbance from neighbours
Review 51:WiFi signal is awful. You cannot connect, wherever you'd be.
Review 52:Excellent resort, at only 2 km far from Carvoeiro. Everything you want is inside the resort, including a very good restaurant (right near the entrance there are 2 more, also very good).
Review 53:Accessability, getting there on the middle of the night was frightening. Few day attempts to get invoice was frustrating.
Review 54:Ocean view. Swimming pools. Easy atmosphere with no crowd of people. Slowly living with no music.
Review 55:Oven was broken, Had to Make them give us another room too cook in, as we were only staying 1 night and had bought food to cook for dinner, they didn't really want to help
Review 56:Good spot to access Bengal beach
Review 57:Beautiful area. Lovely pools. Plenty of places to eat & relax. Restaurant food good. Poolside cafe & bar nice also. Very pleasant coffee shop.
Review 58:When I am booking an apartment in this pricerange, with WiFi I expect it to work. It did not. Not once during our stay. Not in the apartment or around the pool, pool bar and restaurant. I asked them to fix it, but nothing happened. I had to spend 110 euro in roaming to do what I had to. Huge disapointment. I also must say that the beds where pretty bad. The matrasses was years and years old, it seemed like it could fall apart at the seams. All of us felt the springs in our backs. It did not interrupt our sleep, so we managed. The curtains looked like they had been there since opening day. The red color was faded and almost white where the sun was shining on them. The sunchairs on the balcony was as old and broken. They came and removed one of them, but did not replace it. Strange. All of these things are so easy to fix, I find it strange it has not been done.
Review 59:The location is great. We had an apartment with oacenview and it was nice and quiet. We really enjoyed that. The main swimmingpool area was really nice and our children had a great time there. You need a car I feel becuase the beaches around there are so beautiful it is a shame not to try them. Our rooms where cleaned each day (except sundays) and towles was changed three times during our stay. The size of the apartment was nice and good for our family.
Review 60:The beds in apartment no 272 were extremely hard and uncomfortable. The apartment was very dated and worn and required a complete over hall. Not what you would expect of a four star establishment. More sunbeds and shaded areas are required around the pool, as at busy times there was no where to sit.
Review 61:The location is excellent for beaches. On site supermarket good and surrounding restaurants were very good.
Review 62:The pool barand cafe are too expensive compared to others in similar properties The main pool area wasn't supervised so lots of kids were jumping off the rocks in to the pool it was dangerous
Review 63:The pools and gardens
Review 64:Nothing bad...only we had to come home to the rain!!
Review 65:It was spotless..The villa was excellently equipped and the air con was brilliant. We have free Wi fi everywhere we went & reception was fast. The staff were always helpful. I have read reviews which said the towels etc weren't changed...ours was cleaned & towels changed daily. The pools were great & not at all busy. Thre are some excellent restaurants nearby. Couldn't recommend highly enough!!
Review 66:My husband thought the double bed was uncomfortable but I slept well in it. With 2 adults and 2 teen girls it would have been good to have a second shower or toilet.
Review 67:Air conditioning in both bedrooms and sitting room. Apartment cleaned daily. Spacious living space, very comfortable. Well located very safe area for teens. Lots of English speaking visitors from both Ireland and England.
Review 68:Had to drive to restaurants; Had to go onto porch to get wifi, even then very unreliable; huge complex therefore impersonal. Rooms were kind of run down.
Review 69:Good location from which to explore coast. Good price for resort location.
Review 70:We were initially placed in the quieter end of the resort ....would begreat for some but they immediately relocated us near the tennis, pools and restaurants once they realised we preferred to be close tothe action.
Review 71:We loved the tennis. Milan is a wonderful tennis coach and such aninspirational person. Every one at Rocca Brava was so lovely, andfriendly. It has tennis, swimming, golf 2 mins away and lovelyrestaurants - perfection!! And great value.
Review 72:Disappointed at not being allowed into villa until 1hr 15 mins after check in time, staff unavailable to drive luggage and ourselves especially as we had arrived at 1pm and were very tired by 4.15pm. Long distance from reception to villa with luggage
Review 73:Location, views and facilities were superb. Very friendly staff in cafe and great menu, reasonably priced. Staff in general very helpful and very pleased indeed with change of towels, beds and maid service.
Review 74:i thought there should have been a better choice of food at the snack bars and for a lower price
Review 75:the main pool area was great with 3 different pools that could be used and it was easy to monitor the kids.
Review 76:The main restaurant was very overpriced compared to local restaurants
Review 77:The pool was brilliant, cliff top walks leading to fantastic beaches. The resort was very clean,no litter, gardens were beautiful
Review 78:Poor wi-fi. Could be better toiletries in bathroom. More towels for bathroom without having to ask
Review 79:Lovely pool and gardens, all clean, neat and tidy. Very comfortable
Review 80:Far from the beach, had to use car to everything, Avoeiro is some km away
Review 81:Comfortable and spacious apartment, very good value, indoor pool, WiFi worked well in the apartment,
Review 82:The baby cot was too small for the mattress and didn't have any appropriate sheets! The next day I complained about it and it was changed to a normal size baby cot with normal mattress and sheets. The second night we didn't have hot water! At the reception they couldn't do anything to fix the problem right now and we had to wait till the next morning. They didn't really apologize nor offered a compensation. Only when I insisted we were "offered" a 10 per cent on our next stay! I think it's not ok. Then, we were told that we could by breakfast directly at the restaurant at the same price. But the restaurant charged a higher price! And, frankly, the breakfast was absolutely nothing special. The coffee was good but the rest of the food was tasteless and the choice was poor. Finally, while the sheets and the towels were clean, the carpet, the curtains and the bed covers had stains and a dirty and used aspect.
Review 83:The location, the garden, the small terrace, the heated swimming pool, the facilities in general, the playground, the walk path, the kids friendly environment, the nature, the possibility to go to a café and to buy something on the site.
Review 84:Didn't stop me having a good nights sleep but pillows are a bit lumpy!!!! Some new ones maybe??
Review 85:Children delighted to find a new indoor pool, ideal for cool evenings. Great private terrace space for bbqs and immaculate gardens as always. This must be our 10th visit and we'll keep coming back!!!! Wifi connection in houses seems to have improved since our last visit.
Review 86:Wifi was hit and miss sometimes but its free so can't complain :)
Review 87:Beautiful resort, walking distance from carvoeiro, friendly staff. We visited Valentine's weekend and it was really quiet as its out of season, which was lovely. So peaceful. Already looking to take the kids next year in the summer months :) highly recommended!
Review 88:We asked for appartment, we got a condo with stairs Uncomfortable matress Walls sound leaking Weak wifi
Review 89:Location Park set up Friendly, Helpfull staff
Review 90:If to name anything we did not use the fireplace but i guess the guests before us did seeing the appartment smelled of smoke for the whole 4 days we stayed there. Also Wifi did not work very well and washingmachine neither! However all in all a very enjoyable experience.Would highly recommend it!
Review 91:Wonderfull grounds, great location bordering a fantastic coastline. Indoorpool small but warm and clean. 2 bedroom vila was comfortable and cozy.
Review 92:The apartment was comfortable with everything we needed, but a few extra homely features would enhance it so much more.
Review 93:Lovely resort, with everything you need for a relaxing break. Excellent value for money for a week in February with sunshine everyday. Apartment spotlessly clean.
Review 94:Everything was great.
Review 95:On arrival we were met by pleasant cheerful staff who quickly and efficiently dealt with checking in. The accommodation was in a convenient position and everything was spotlessly clean, with everything we needed. Delighted to find UK tv and air conditioning. Well equipped and nice to have a bath as well as shower. Well planned with decent light by the mirror and socket so easy for hair and make up. Surprising how many hotels don't have this. Beds very comfortable. Facilities great for winter with heated indoor pool and open coffee shop, tennis etc.
Review 96:it was cold in the apartment. The bedrooms were fine, but the living area was cold and the fireplace did not work. They don't seem to be prepared for winter visitors.
Review 97:Beautiful sea view, nice walk to the edge of the cliffs. Easy access to nearby beach towns and the Benagil Beach caves.
Review 98:We went out of season so very quite. I think you really need a car there, which we did not have,so making hard to see carvoeiro properly.
Review 99:The villa was beautiful, and the cliff walk very good.
Review 100:In this time of the year (winter) double glass would be much better instead of the noisy heating/airco running all the time , there is no heating in the kitchen.
Review 101:Location and facilities
Review 102:Being January, apart from the cafe on site, most of the nearby restaurants were closed.
Review 103:Location of apartment, overlooking the tennis courts was excellent. Plenty of car parking space. Very helpful staff at reception, plus daily maid service.
Review 104:Facilities were either closed or had limited opening and did not justify the 300% mark up over the New Year period. Restaurant overpriced.
Review 105:The location and grounds.
Review 106:Only one negative thing. It was stated that the apartment was equipped with the heating (we thought of portable heaters or something like this), which was not true. Air conditioning was in all three rooms, though. Theoretically one could keep it warm using the latter but we didn’t like it blowing all the time, particularly in the night. Therefore, it was somewhat chilling in the apartment in the morning. But it was not that bad at all.
Review 107:Very good location if you have a car. All local beaches are reachable within 5 minutes. Very helpful and professional staff. The apartment was clean and the territory of the village was very well maintained. Although officially WiFi is available only in public areas (there are 20 antennas according to the staff), we had stable and strong connection in our apartment (probably, because it was close to the pool). The apartment was daily cleaned. Towels were changed twice within a week, and bed linen once. The kitchen was nicely equipped except for the knives. There were two very cheap ones, one of which was a bread knife. A fireplace was also good to have. Overall, we had a very good vacation. Totally worth staying.
Review 108:Sofa in lounge was a little uncomfortable. It would have been nice to have a small barbecue on the terrace and a hairdryer would also be nice to save space for those of us that travel with hand luggage only !
Review 109:Arrived after midnight but reception were excellent and we were in our apartment within 10 minutes of arriving. Were upgraded to upstairs apartment with view which was nice. Apartment was clean and well equipped. Facilities also good and grounds/gardens were well kept. In summary a good resort for a relaxing break.
Review 110:Needed to light the fire at night (November) and chimney was very smokey. Our only complaint...
Review 111:Excellent facilities; magnificent and very extensive cliff walks right beside the complex; room serviced every day; lots of restaurants close by; convenient food market on site.
Review 112:With its excellent facilities set in a mature, well looked after landscaped gardens Rocha Brava is well positioned for a variety of local beaches. A car is essential if you want to go out and about. The staff are really friendly and very helpful. Whilst not a lot to do for teenagers there are some bigger towns not too far away. We would certainly go back in future years.
Review 113:Not good wifi in the rooms, had to go to main areas... restaurant and reception. Upgrade the pillows. They were quite lumpy... gave headaches in the morning.
Review 114:Very quiet! Great for a relaxing holiday, nice staff, excellent latte's!
Review 115:Tennis court and table tennis hire too expensive. It is, after all a family resort.
Review 116:The gardens and swimming pools are impeccable. It's so relaxing and very quiet. Near virtually everything - Lagoa, beaches, walks. Accessible and convenient parking and professional receptionists with excellent english.
Review 117:accommodation could do with refreshing- a little tired
Review 118:bar- lovely friendly staff restaurant- great food as just out of season- no problem getting sun beds easy access around the complex easy to get to the town lovely restaurants in walking distance Very clean
Review 119:I wish there would have been a jacuzzi in the pool area. Was disappointed there wasn't.
Review 120:Great stay, perfect location as we did not want to stay in a city and we had a rental car. Great apartment.
Review 121:Some villas are a bit public, upgrading of villa itself required (holes in fly screens, tired bathroom), no orientation book with details of local facilities etc.
Review 122:Grounds really nice and well kept, three pools to suit all tastes and needs, restaurant and nearby restaurants, cliff-top walks
Review 123:There was a bus into town 3 times per day which was brilliant. The only one negative thing I could say is that the Location of the resort is a bit far from town for those who like to get out of the resort regularly, however a taxi is only approx €6 & if your travelling with young kids then everything you need is in the resort so there's not much need to leave!
Review 124:Lovely resort, everything was very convenient for a group with small children. They even have a crèche & the playground is well located in the shade under trees. Main restaurant food is excellent. Overall very enjoyable stay.
Review 125:Only portable conditioner in one of the rooms, so the window had to be open which defied the whole purpose. Otherwise, nothing to signal. Very nice and comfy place.
Review 126:It is green, very well maintained, pool of a good size, great staff, great location (nevertheless, one needs a car to get around).
Review 127:For seniors could find a 20 minute walk uphill to reception to call taxi, no phone in condo.
Review 128:Loved the condo #476A. Clean & very comfortable, loved the view from the large terrace overlooking one of the 4 pools bellow and the ocean. The taxi would pick us up at the top of our steps instead of us walking to reception. Restaurant's were on site or just a short walk on main road. Coach for bus trip picked us up a entrance. Recommend 4 hour trip only.
Review 129:I found strange that they charge you for fitness center. One entry is 7,50 but you can pay for whole week 25 euros. Guess what ? You have to pay by cash ! Even nearby restaurants are cash only but nearest ATM is 20 min by walk. No wifi at the vila, you have to go to recepcion desk to have one.
Review 130:Weather perfect, room was great, kitchen had even more than I expected.
Review 131:I wasn't able to use more than 1 ring on the hob as then the fuse would 'trip'. The supermarket on site is expensive. There was a strange noise outside the window of the main bedroom all night.
Review 132:Layout of the resort is good and has a nice family atmosphere. Kitchen well equipped. Nice swimming pools.
Review 133:Difficult to get to the beach with small children and the pool area is very busy and pools very cold. Hotel staff unhelpful and very strict on rooms not being available until 15:30, even though the complex didn't appear full. A hire car is a must if you want to venture out of the complex even to get to the beach.
Review 134:Great accommodation with lovely views over the sea. Very peaceful and perfect for a nice quiet holiday.
Review 135:Service in the restaurant was bit slow and if you have very young children, you need to take this in to consideration.
Review 136:The surrounding gardens and swimming pools were in pristine condition. Restaurant served excellent food and the prices were very reasonable.
Review 137:- Some areas of the space were not very well taken care of - For the size of the resort and distance to the beaches, there was not enough space in the pool areas - The indoor decorations need a little update - Delay of two hours when cleaning the rooms on check-in day
Review 138:- Hotel layout - Free Wi-Fi - Good food in the restaurant and bar
Review 139:Accommodation was basic but enjoyed our stay . Wifi reception was poor On site shop was very expensive
Review 140:The grounds and gardens were stunning , very well maintained
Review 141:We had a mountain of steps to climb or descend to reach any parts of the resort. Our apartment was uncomfortable, both beds and chairs in lounge were extremely hard and bedding lacked something to be desired.
Review 142:Gardens were absolutely beautiful, pools were clean and well laid out. Overall appearance of complex was appealing.
Review 143:I did not like anything but the worst was no internet in the apartmentts despiet the fact the ressort claims internet is available everywhere
Review 144:there was nothing to like about it. worst holidays in the algarve ever
