Reviews for Lenox Hotel and Suites
Review 1:Bit far out of down town, 35 minute walk
Review 2:Good set up, friendly staff, an amazing bar and grill next to the main entrance! Food was amazing, good prices
Review 3:Nothing that i can really recall. Arrived on a Friday night, parking lot was full, so it took about 5 minutes to wait for a spot and park. Front desk told us there were 2 parties booked for the resturant and that is why it was packed.
Review 4:Location was great. 1 block from Allentown (and a great chicken wing place), 2 blocks from the Metro line. Bed was big and comfortable. TV, Keurig machine, hot, big shower, hardwood floors, good view. Good resturant in same building. Staff was outgoing and helpful. Felt like we lived there! (Some of the units have been converted into apartments, that might have something to do with the home feel)
Review 5:The water only had one temp and it was scalding. So, no morning showers.
Review 6:The front desk girl was super friendly and recommend the pepper jack mac n' cheese from the attached bar next door. The bartender was awesome and it was one of the best mac n' cheeses I've ever had. Thanks!
Review 7:Cockroach in the bath tub. Very small bathroom, expensive for what you are staying in.
Review 8:The room was clean and the building was neat as it was vintage. The rooms appears clean but finding a cockroach in the bath tub makes you feel gross regardless. Which makes you wonder about the Lennox Grill that is located below the hotel.
Review 9:-Old building so it was a bit noisy at times. -Our duvet was SO hot and we couldn't find anywhere to control the temp in our room.
Review 10:-The staff were SO friendly (Tony and Leah). -Location was great, walking distance to downtown and lots of restaurants/pubs. -Free parking!
Review 11:Some of the staff, kinda didn't care to socialize at all, including needs 120$/night x 2.holiday inn would've been better to honest.
Review 12:The quiet, the restaurant and the bed
Review 13:The smell of weed, which presumably came from the people in the room next door, one night.
Review 14:The location was excellent, close to Allentown which is well worth exploring and walking round.
Review 15:Historic gone wrong, you get what you pay for. Sadly, very little historic charm remains. It's a turn of the century hotel that got a bad 1950's remodel which is now decorated with awful 1980's thrift store furniture and restaurant cast offs. From your room you can hear all the hallway noise from several rooms down, cob webs everywhere in the room, bed sheets were 150 thread count at best. A/C barely worked, no remote for TV and you're lucky to find parking. Staff is pleasant but not very knowledgeable.
Review 16:It's in abreast location.
Review 17:The room was incredibly basic, exceedingly old and generally feel like you are in a different century. It's not the staff's fault - it was clean and tidy, the room was just dingy, awkward and overall poor. We also paid $200 for the pleasure. Save your money and go to the Holiday Inn which is immediately next door.
Review 18:No breakfast available in the hotel - and I didn't find a good option nearby.
Review 19:The great staff - really friendly and helpful. Others travelling without a car might like to note that the location is 10-15min walk from the metro line to downtown (i.e. it seemed one of the better locations from which to get around).
Review 20:The bed wasn't very comfortable.
Review 21:The staff was friendly, and the location couldn't be matched. It was within walking distance to a lot of entertainment and food options. The Lenox Grill had great food and an incredible beer selection. Service was very friendly there, as well.
Review 22:Foam pillows so stiff and air conditioning blowing right at the head of the bed that I woke with a terribly stiff neck the next morning. Water spraying out of the faucet handle in the shower. For the price, breakfast should have been included.
Review 23:I had been at a house museum not too far away and was going to Canada the next day, so the location was great. Parking on site. Friendly clerk at check-in.
Review 24:Smelly carpet in the elevator. Comcidering that this is also apartments for people with dogs, elevator should have better air conditioning and no carpeting, dogs sit on it its obviously never cleaned. If carpeting replaced with something easily cleaned perhaps there would not be smell of animals on other floors... Being charged for the stay in advance... this is the first one ..ever
Review 25:Location, convenient for around town and close to pkwy
Review 26:The hotel was great. It's not the definition of luxury, but for the price it is really quite nice. It has a great 1920s vibe to it - helped along by a warm, welcoming staff that really give the place a nice feel. It's conveniently located near downtown and has a great bar/restaurant in the basement. It reminded my partner and I of Gatsby, but on the other side of the state.
Review 27:Only bad points I had were the desk gentleman was the only one on staff when I checked in and there was no one to help me with my bags so I had to cart them and roll them up myself and also there was no AC in the hallways or elevator. I don't know if there was a kitchen or breakfast offered, I was not informed if there was.
Review 28:The room was beautiful and the view was gorgeous! The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The bed was plush and very comfortable and the AC was nice and cold..
Review 29:Windows were not to open, so.. No fresh air, only air condition There was a stove to cook, but no pots. But there are good restaurants nearby.
Review 30:Very friendly and flexible staff, perfect location, within walking distance to Allen Town, comfortable beds, WiFi fast, big TV, parking free.. I would stay there again!
Review 31:Window air conditioner coils froze up, therefore the a/c seized working. From 3am till check out the room had to have been 85+ degrees. Worst nights sleep I've ever received staying in any hotel (and I've stayed in 100+ hotels) overall I was very disastisfied with my stay
Review 32:Location was great
Review 33:There was an extra pet charge that totaled over half the cost of the room ($50) that was not disclosed on the website. It was not clean--dirtiest elevator ever.
Review 34:Inconveniences associated with an older building (i.e. the walls/floors tend to be thin and allow transmission of noises, there are limited outlets in useful positions, etc.), a tad expensive for what you get but still better priced than surrounding hotels
Review 35:Friendly and approachable front desk staff, free parking, pets allowed (though I did not bring a pet), non-smoking, clean linens, no evidence of bed bugs
Review 36:Poor décor, only spare electrical socket was in the bathroom, extension cord running three appliances was very suspect.
Review 37:The food in the Grill next door
Review 38:Just lovely, for a native Buffalonian visiting home. The very very Buffalo architecture and being walking distance from Allentown was a delight! Small old rooms, but decorated with antique chair and dresser, VERY comfy bed! Having over 500 beers down at the grill was also a plus :D
Review 39:The room was a little small for a suite but considering the value it's not a big deal and I'll be returning soon!
Review 40:Bonnie was amazing! She was so nice and helpful! The old school architecture and location was excellent.
Review 41:I see people complain about the shower but the key is turn on the cold water - upper-right knob - first, then add the hot with the upper left knob. If you're only used to chains this place may seem odd to you but if you know it's a great old hotel you'll really appreciate it. And you cannot beat the location!
Review 42:Perfect location. Great restaurant downstairs and within walking distance to Gabriel's Gate (best wings in Buffalo other than Duff's), Allentown, etc. Cool old school ambiance. Nice staff.
Review 43:The room was pretty bare of furniture. It should have used something to put things down on, like a dresser. There was no hair dryer, iron, breakfast - things we've gotten used to from staying in chain hotels like the Hampton Inn. It seemed a little expensive for what the room looked like.
Review 44:I liked the old-time feel of the building. It was easy to find from the Peace Bridge. We were really tired from driving all day and it was great to have the bar and grill in the building.
Review 45:Water pressure poor..room basic..elevator slow..
Review 46:Next to Lenox Grill..good restaurant bar..can walk to town..great neighborhood..friendly residents..ac..price right..inhouse gallery.
Review 47:Historic building needs updating. Carpeting needs to be replaced. Lack of storage in bathroom, and adjusting water in the shower was a bit challenging.
Review 48:Great location for sightseeing, friendly and helpful staff. Price ok considering special events were going on in Buffalo.
Review 49:We were confused when trying to get to our room. The verandas between the rooms were a bit weird and looked dirty.
Review 50:the rooms were amazing especially the bed- super comfortable. And the rooms looked way better than the verandah and very clean.
Review 51:Did not like the pillows they kinda hurt my neck but then again I am picky with pillows. My husband loved them.
Review 52:Loved the staff. All friendly and made you feel at home
Review 53:Small room. Smaller bath. Toilet banged against the wall. Shower only had hot water.
Review 54:Bed was comfortable. Desk person was very friendly. Restaurant was awesome.
Review 55:Staff was very accommodating. Offered to let me use his personal phone charger. The Lenox restaurant next door was fantastic. 8 minute walk to train.
Review 56:Very old rooms, not renovated or updated, a lot of noise from neighbors, very old and poor air conditioning. Room service was very poor.
Review 57:The staff are the greatest hospitable.
Review 58:We were pleasantly surprise when we saw the 100 year old classic hotel in downtown Buffalo. For the price we were expecting cookie cutter rooms, but were treated to the mid-twentith century charm with modern amenities. We used a "real" key.
Review 59:Bathtub water wasn't going diwn, weird smell, WiFi was disconnected all the time. Had to call to get the password instead of providing it.No breakfast, no card to take our items in rooms, some times no parking for our cars.
Review 60:The room was small but had an iron, hair dryer.
Review 61:The room had an old fashioned air conditioning windowbox that was quite loud. It was also difficult to control the hot water in the shower.
Review 62:The hotel has a nice retro feel. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and there is an excellent bar/restaurant on the property.
Review 63:Zero complaints
Review 64:First of all, every negative review I read was completely false. My stay at the Lenox was exceptional. The staff was friendly, helpful and genuinely like what they do and they do it well. I stayed at the Lenox as I was attending the Rush concert in Buffalo. The woman at the front desk helped me with directions to locate the Metro. I had a million questions about using the Metro and she was able to answer all of them. My room was clean and neat. The bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom also very clean. I had absolutely no issues with the water temperature or water pressure in the shower. I previously read numerous complaints about the water temp and pressure. The air conditioner worked well and as expected. Again, previous read complaints were unfounded during my stay. Coffee maker worked well. I didn't use the refrigerator so I have no opinion. The Lenox is a beautiful old building. So if you happen to be planning a stay in Buffalo N.Y. and you want to experience something other than the usual chain hotels that lack charm and soul I highly recommend The Lenox. Should I find myself going to Buffalo in the near future The Lenox will be my first choice.
Review 65:I asked about the air condition which I paid for and was told it would be taken care of but we were hot the whole night with a little bit of noise from the windows being open. Last time was a better experience
Review 66:It was convenient to some restaurants and a nice park across the street
Review 67:It was difficult to control water temperature in the shower. The flow tended to be either too hot, or cold. I could manage, given that I was there for one day and needed only two showers; but I expect better for the price.
Review 68:The Lenox is a bit over a mile from the start line of the Buffalo Marathon, and is on the race course. That was good for my needs. The room featured a microwave, a refrigerator, and a coffee maker; that got me through pre-race breakfast in good shape.
Review 69:Seems like the A/C was turned to very low setting at night. room seem to be very warm.
Review 70:Love the location of the hotel. the character and the facet of the building is classic.
Review 71:ROOM SMELLED LIKE CIGARETTE SMOKE UPON ARRIVAL COULDN'T GET SHOWER WATER TO REGULATE- BOILING HOT WATER NO COUNTER SPACE IN BATHROOM
Review 72:BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE
Review 73:Facility is a residential hotel, so don't expect privacy when coming and going from the establishment. Front desk staff politely asked me who I was each time I came into hotel after being out sightseeing and visiting friends/family. I'm a very private person and prefer anonymity when traveling so I was bit perturbed by the attention. I was informed by management that it was to protect the permanent residents and guest from outsiders entering the building. I completely understand the policy, but next time I'll stay at another hotel downtown to protect my privacy and not deal with the hassle.
Review 74:location to downtown and Allentown neighborhood
Review 75:We booking the room hoping it would be suitable for a trip to the evening NHL hockey game. The location and our needs ( food, arena, local transit comfortable ) could not have been any better. Also, having come from Ontario for the game, 4 minutes border to hotel was awesome.
Review 76:Rooms ate a bit to be desired. Didn't offer any meals & is also rooms are apartment rentals which makes it difficult to pay the price for a hotel for comfort
Review 77:Tony our hotel clerk & the staff at the Lenox Grill were amazing. Tons of beers to select from, great portion of wings & clean. Friendly people made our stay.
Review 78:The manager if the hotel Molly was excellent with us and the bar and restaurant there were first class from the bartenders to the food . By the way , Larry the bartender makes the best gingerbread man martins. The only thing that bothered us was the smell of fish cooking in someone 's room that permeated our room and the elevator. We would definitely go there again !!!! Kate , Jen , April and Kim!!!
Review 79:Loud noises all throughout our stay. It sounded like an airplane was landing on the roof. It was a rather expensive hotels for the limited amenities that were provided.
Review 80:Friendly staff & tenants!
Review 81:Looks nothing like picture on line. It was wayyy over priced. It says there's no smoking but when you walk out your room the hallways are filled with cigarette smoke. Staff was really nice tho. Bed was like a rock with out dated bedding, which makes you wonder how many ppl have slept in them. The walls are so paper thin you can hear the ppl living next door argue all night long. I will never go back id rather sleep in a shelter.
Review 82:Not much
Review 83:Room was very hot no thermostat hot water heat the pipes were clanking all night really tough to sleep when it is 80 and hearing pipes clanking all night will not stay there again
Review 84:Employees were very nice
Review 85:The mattress was old and uncomfortable. The pillows were too thick, too.
Review 86:The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar was excellent. Overall the room was fine and great location if attending a concert at First Niagara Arena.
Review 87:PARKING!! Restaurant & hotel share parking lot so spaces are very limited. I was not happy to come back to hotel after a wedding to find no parking spaces. On street parking will get you a ticket.
Review 88:8th floor view of city and waterfront, historic charm of hotel, yummy martinis in attached restaurant.
Review 89:Room was far too hot; couldn't lower temperature so had to open windows in December. Room was far too small for a king-size bed. Walls are paper thin. Electric fireplace was cheesy. Bathtub faucet dripped all night; toilet tank flapper wouldn't close on its own necessitating our lifting the tank lid and dropping the flapper ourselves.
Review 90:Hotel staff were extremely friendly and provided us with first round of drinks for free at the Lenox Grill. Food at the grill was quite good.
Review 91:The fixtures were older.
Review 92:It was clean, the staff was friendly, the room was spacious and had a microwave and fridge. The lobby had the feel of an old hotel, nice leather chairs. The elevator was like stepping back in time.
Review 93:Not very many outlets.
Review 94:I had read previous reviews and they were wrong. There was a coffee pot, there was shampoo, and it was a very clean room. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 95:Check out is too early for some wilding kids
Review 96:Good location, good value, Cool building/room. The bathroom was very nice, unique for a hotel-a lot of older flair but everything was in great condition
Review 97:Bathroom facilities a little dated - could use an upgrade. Small fridge, but good enough for what we needed !
Review 98:Location, and availability. Friendly staff and helpful tips.
Review 99:Carpet had large stain. Room was very warm and we could not close the heating vent. The mattress was too soft.
Review 100:Very friendly staff. Beautiful lobby. Within walking distance to restaurants and shops. Great bar and grill at hotel.
Review 101:lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room, however the staff offered us a brand new coffee maker for our use.
Review 102:Very welcoming and accommodating staff. Molly was delightful and even changed us to a new room to make us more comfortable.
Review 103:dated room & furniture, broken chair, bath sink had so little room to set anything down that had to use toilet seat lid, suggest shelves under sink with perhaps fabric cover to floor, sliding closet door needs replacement
Review 104:location was fabulous, landscaping & building front nicely done, lobby nicely renovated, given the age of the building, a good try was made for room renovation but...
Review 105:The beds were awfully soft and saggy. We didn´t get an additional bed for a third traveller, the beds look huge on the pictures but they aren´t Building definitely needs cosmetic!!!
Review 106:The location in Allentown is very good, some distance to downtown but walkable
Review 107:It would be nice to have the grill open a bit earlier in the day, even though there are plenty of alternatives close by, the convenience of this would be an additional plus.
Review 108:I have allergies to many products and greatly appreciated the accommodation of my request for a “fragrance-free” room. The staff assured me that their would be no chemical "air- fresheners" used in the room that was prepared for my late evening arrival. It was wonderful to enjoy a migraine-free weekend while I was in town for a special family event. The charm and comfort of this historic hotel made for a lovely home-away-from-home. You and your staff are friendly and helpful people who exemplify the true meaning of “hospitality.” Sincerely yours, Lisa Nelson Santa Maria, California
Review 109:Parking very tight when the location is fully booked.
Review 110:Front desk person and on duty manager excellent upon arrival. Location quiet and very handy to our needs. Arrived too late to experience the on site restaurant but it appeared very inviting.
Review 111:Room was incredibly clean, enough space to be comfortable, everything worked very well. Staff was friendly and very efficient Rate was good given comparable options in the area
Review 112:The bed sheets were a little rough. By no means am I use use to the finer things in life like Egyptian cotton sheets, but you could tell they were a little worn out. The only other complaint I have was that there was no gym on the facility.
Review 113:Let me start by saying I came for the NYS bar exam, so maybe I was a little more sentence to the positive and negatives than your average guest. The staff were extremely knowledgable, polite, and helpful. If you can keep the people you had there, keep them.
Review 114:Any small issues were well beyond the control of the hotel: the neighbours' backyard party; the windy night that made the door rattle slightly; the lack of signs on the street out front, which led to a parking ticket. The hallways and room-numbering are both a bit Byzantine, but that only adds to the feeling of adventure and discovery! At one point the elevator seemed to balk at going anywhere, but performed perfectly every other time. Nothing of note, really.
Review 115:We were delighted with the Lenox and with our room, esp. the vintage bathroom that featured a shower with a spectacular view. Our end-of-hall corner room had views of the downtown and the lovely Elmwood neighbourhood, and even the river. It was large, clean, quiet, comfy, and had amenities we didn't even use. The small fridge was esp. handy for storing our leftovers from dinner out. We were perfectly located for the Garden Walk event and walked everywhere, leaving our cars in the free off-street lot all weekend. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, allowing us to stay parked and leave our luggage in their storage for several hours post–check-out so we could enjoy a leisurely brunch and a few more gardens. A gem of a find that we won't hesitate to return to!
Review 116:- some staff not very motivated to help - spider in lift - bathrooms not clean enough - light comes through bottom of old doors, as there is a gap - can hear noisy neighbors during the night - all furniture old and dirty - no clothes hangers in wardrobe
Review 117:I would not recommend this hotel. It needs renovated and some features need to be added, like the option for breakfast. The Grill downstairs gave me out-of-date beers on both occasions I visited (for a popular beer). Maybe they should call Ramsey for his hotel TV show!
Review 118:- rooms not cleaned well - spider in lift - light comes through door as it's old style - no breakfast option - old and dirty furniture
Review 119:I don't reccomend staying here. It is old and dirty, you can hear everything from the corridor and from other rooms. Also there is no breakfast option. In the grill downstairs I got out of date beers both times (a standard American beer, nothing special). Also people are always coming in and out with dogs which is a bit strange.
Review 120:Not a thing. Missed a coffee maker in room which was strange as there was a fridge and a microwave. The person at front desk made coffee very willingly as we are very early risers:)
Review 121:Location -friendliness
Review 122:The Lenox is a combination of housing and hotel. We noticed a variety of cooking, smoking, and other various smells on our floor. But our room itself was fine (and non-smoking).
Review 123:Rooms were clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Ample free parking. Fantastic restaurant.
Review 124:Went on a weekend when availability in Buffalo was limited for some reason. This may have upped the price but it did Seem a little high for the amenities provided. No coffee in room (if you provide a fridge and a microwave then no coffee maker or kettle seems a little strange). No breakfast served in Hotel
Review 125:Nice location. Clean room. Comfortable beds. Older building with nice character.
Review 126:Overall, the hotel is a little rundown and dingy and could certainly use some updating. We had trouble with our TV, which the staff was unable to fix. The offered to move us to a new room, but it wasn't such a big deal. Overall, I would stay here again.
Review 127:The staff and location were great and the people were very friendly - quite the colorful cast of characters passes through.
Review 128:Would have enjoyed a small breakrfast
Review 129:King bed, and coffee maker
Review 130:Hot water and heater are not hot. Not suitable for baby
Review 131:Spots in bathroom and tub...
Review 132:Everything. The staff pleasant and welcoming.
Review 133:neighbor tv so loud and the wall is not sound proof
Review 134:Love the old style building. Great restaurant too.
Review 135:The staff was very nice and helpful with everything we needed.
Review 136:Beautiful building, nice front desk agents, and it has a pretty good bar in the basement.
