Reviews for Tivoli Carvoeiro

Review 1:The only problem we had was the hard bed, but when I spoke to the staff they at least had a mattress topper put on which made it a little better, otherwise all was wonderful.

Review 2:Although the hotel had just reopened after the Christmas break all staff were wonderful, they all went out of there way to ensure we were comfortable at all times.

Review 3:There was a plastic cover on the bed, every time I moved, it made noise. In all my travels, this is the 1st time I experienced this.

Review 4:Amazing view, lovely breakfast, and the staff were king and helpful. The cake and sparkling wine for my birthday was wonderful.

Review 5:Went to checkout early in the morning and the person behind reception did not check the bill before charging me,insisted it was correct until I asked for a Manager before I would pay,he then checked realised he had made a mistake. This did not leave me with a good impression when I left.

Review 6:Great location and warm welcome from receptionist who was also very helpful.

Review 7:The hotel is getting a bit old but the friendly staff, the unique view and the great pools (indoor and outdoor) make this a remarkable place to visit.

Review 8:Fantastic location! Great view and fantastic beaches just around the corner.

Review 9:Great location just a short walk from town and with superb views of the coast. Large and comfortable rooms. Courteous and friendly staff, lovely bar and restaurant, and spacious public areas.

Review 10:Pre-packed breakfast provided for early flight home was disappointing. WiFi charge expensive but desktops available free of charge.

Review 11:Stunning view from room, buffet dinner and breakfast outstanding with amazing choice. Booked B&B only but ended up having dinner at hotel on all 7 days. Well situated for some of the best beaches on the Algarve and close to 2 excellent birding areas, Pera and Alvor marshes.

Review 12:There was nothing to not like !

Review 13:The hotel was clean, comfortable and amazingly quiet for such a large establishment. The staff went out of their way to make the stay as pleasant as possible, and the food was superb. The situation of the hotel is breathtaking and if you feel the need to venture further afield, it is very easy to get around from here.

Review 14:Staff seemed un-concerned about helping with any issues. Spa treatments not possible as could not take appointments. Ruined the relaxation aspect. No terrace to sit outside at breakfast,so stuffy during this meal. A waste of the beautiful views the hotel has.

Review 15:Amazing views. Very close to town. Nicely decorated.

Review 16:We didn't like we cannot stay there forever.

Review 17:This is a second time we are here in Tivoli Carvoeiro. We travel all around the world and this hotel is the best. View from our balcony is fantastic! We explored all rocks and beaches around Algarve, traveling by feet or using rental car. Unforgettable experience!

Review 18:We were on a B&B basis but did book the restaurant for one evening but waiting 50 minutes for our meal was unacceptable.

Review 19:The position of the hotel was ideal. The town was easy to walk to yet the hotel was so peaceful and beautifully set into the cliff side. There were ample sunbeds around the pool & garden areas making it easy to get a bed at anytime during the day, regardless of the panic guests who claim beds with their towels. Extensive grounds and lawned areas were pleasant with natural shade from the trees. The rooms were very spacious and paying for the upgrade from standard was worth the extra.

Review 20:We had to pay for Wifi, our air conditioning was broken, the terrace from the bar was too smoky to use and the seats inside the bar were very old and uncomfortable. The reception staff were not welcoming or pleasant and there was a general lack of hospitality in the hotel. In a period of 7 days, the hotel was the venue for three weddings, two of which meant that the guests could not use the dining room for dinner. On the first occasion there was a barbecue instead and on the next night guests had to have dinner in the cramped breakfast room. This seems to me to be a case of wrong priorities. The hotel entertainment was very poor.

Review 21:The location was good and the large free car park useful. The courtesy bus to and from Carvoeiro is a good idea for guests with limited mobility. Our room was spacious with a fridge and a lovely view over the pool to the sea.

Review 22:Tired, worn hotel badly in need of an upgrade. Wifi charged at 15 euros a day is ridiculous and tedious to get connected. Charging 3 euros a day for a lock for the safe is absurd. Breakfast is expansive yet tasteless. Croissants are not really flaky croissants but hard tasteless rolls.

Review 23:Beautiful location.

Review 24:The rooms facing the back are not great , pay a little extra and get a view. They need to get some double or king beds.

Review 25:This is our 3rd time to Tivolli. It is in a lovely small village Cavoeiro in a great position looking over Praia do Covo. I would rate the hotel as 3.5 Star , but it has the potential to be a really good 4 Star .The pool area is very nice with beautifull views . The breakfast is good with lots of fruit and everything else you may want . There are a lot of good restaurants in the area . Nice verandah to have a cocktail in the evening . It is very good value .

Review 26:My only comment would be bathrooms require updating.

Review 27:Great location with sea views,we had good room on 5th floor, restaurant overlooking pool and sea had a fair menu. We thought prices of food and drink were OK for a 4star hotel We would return to this hotel.

Review 28:To only have paid wifi in such a hotel is simply ridiculous.

Review 29:Location is amazing. Breakfast was also very good and the staff was always nice. The pool area is perfect and was surprisingly never busy.

Review 30:Taking in consideration that it was a fully booked hotel this time round, It was very embarassing to be asked to sign a slip for dining at the hotel restaurant the previous night. We had on us the receipt of Virmar where we had dined and told them that the staff should make sure that the clients sign their invoice before they leave. The bill did not appear in our invoice when we settled.

Review 31:specially the way staff go out of their way to please, also the excellent breakfast. bed, cleanliness and location, also the magnificent restaurants nearby. recommend, Virmar, Primavera and Villa medici.

Review 32:The selection at the breakfast buffet is poor and a lot of the food was not fresh - i.e. very limited selection of fresh fruits, no fresh juices, bread was not really fresh, etc. As well, due to a lot of weddings going on in the hotel it happened that the buffet in the evening was not served in the restaurant for some nights of the week - they moved it to the breakfast room which was not suitable and not very comfortable. Toilets at the pool area need to be cleaned more regular and kept in better condition.

Review 33:The location is beautiful - however you have to pay extra for a sea view

Review 34:Noisy air conditioning and the hotel is getting ready for a refurbishment

Review 35:Super staff The overall hotel package is great and lots of sun beds in August

Review 36:Tired rooms but a good value for the location.

Review 37:The best spot on the algarve coast. Overlooking a scenic beach and next to Benegil where the boat tours the cave.

Review 38:Easy access to small secluded beach just below the hotel, close proximity to village, walking distance to many restaurants & bars, no need to drive. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 39:The lack of a general free wifi service is not acceptable for a 4* hotel. And, the way to avoid the overpriced wifi offering is not adequately advertised.

Review 40:Location near to town.

Review 41:Very poor beaches. Seaview in the lower floors is actually view over the restaurant. A fee of thirteen euros per day to use the room's safe seems unreasonable.

Review 42:Cosy hotel with good indoor and outdoor pools, and spa. Very friendly staff. The daily offer of a newspaper at choice (to those becoming members of.GHA Discovery) was valued,

Review 43:The hotel is a bit tired, cracked tiles and basins in bathrooms. Some furniture rather old fashioned. Breakfast in stuffy dining room with no. Kew instead of on lovely terrace. Breakfast typical large hotel buffet. The canopies over pool terrace restaurant now all broken and some replaced with umbrellas

Review 44:The lovely beach, as well as reasonable swimming pool and indoor pool make this good for families. Rooms are reasonable size to take extra bed. Staff charming, especially kids club

Review 45:Worried about the chain link fencing on steps to the beach. There are areas that are very unsafe which a child could fall through from a height.

Review 46:Loved the layout and spacious 5th floor. Loved the resin coating on the tiled floor (would love to know how this was achieved).

Review 47:Having to queue for breakfast and having to reestablish slow Wifi connection every 24 hours

Review 48:Location and friendliness of staff. Good sized quiet dark room.

Review 49:I had pretty bad sleep, there was some monotonious noise coming out of the building all the night (maybe the pump of the internal swimming pool??). Also the air conditioning was pretty loud. Furniture and the whole interiour of the room was old. Wifi is for extra.

Review 50:I have choosen this place because of the view and it did not disappointed me, outlook is really amazing to the see. The breakfast was also very good, fresh made waffles and eggs every morning. Services were quite Ok - swimming pool, deck chair etc..

Review 51:Not enough staff. A little tired and need of maintenance. The gym was poor. Breakfast poor.

Review 52:Location great. The staff were very helpful. Pool area very well kept. Pool lunches very nice.

Review 53:There was no wifi and the only wifi you can buy is 24 hours for 15euro.

Review 54:The staff were fantastic and the location is unbeatable! There is a beautiful private beach, with another cave beach right beside it! The view is unreal and the hotel on a whole is very relaxed and comfortable.

Review 55:a bit old looking hotel and room interior, to get free wifi you should be first a member of a hotel (register somewhere), in the sea to swim look a bit dangerous

Review 56:niece view, friendly stuff, nice restaurant with a nice view to the cave and swimming pool, quiet place, nice boat trip next to hotel where you can see nice caves

Review 57:A bit tired decoration. Would benefit from an update.

Review 58:Location, location, location. On the top of a beautiful cliff with its own private beach. Only 15 minutes walking from all restaurants and facilities.

Review 59:Summer staff are very young and not trained. Our waitress at dinner struggled to open a bottle of wine. The swimming pool is not as large as photos show, however I prefer to stay on the tanning beds anyways. The building is very old and the rooms are outdated. Also, most clients are retired couples and large families, which I wish I had known before booking my stay with my boyfriend.

Review 60:The location allows you to conveniently access the hiking trails and to walk along the coast. The view is beautiful from the hotel.

Review 61:I don't think guests should have to pay for wi fi. Drinks at the poolside bar were a bit expensive compared to other bars nearby. Beach access should be made easier.

Review 62:The stafff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was excellent. The location was great with wonderful sea views. Peaceful ,quiet and relaxing

Review 63:Hotel is looking a little run down - particularly bathrooms. Some refreshing is needed.

Review 64:We liked the beautiful terrrace bar. Plenty of sun loungers in the pool area. Helpful staff

Review 65:Breakfast very good overall, but several mornings the bacon and fried eggs were cold. Perhaps the kitchen could cook and bring in smaller amounts, rather than pile the food high, only for it to get cold. Did mention this one morning, but things didn't change.

Review 66:Very comfortable and relaxing hotel in superb location and on the whole staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the fact that there is plenty of space in the hotel grounds to be on your own, rather than be close to everyone around the pool. Will certainly return.

Review 67:Air con in room didn't seem to cool to the set temperature. I have stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 times before up to 2007, on returning this year I remembered some of the mature members of the cocktail bar team, always attentive. But they now have some younger members, unfortunately they are not at the same standard. We could not always make eye contact because they wanted to remain inside rather than on the balcony. Tables were served out of turn. They didn't always understand the cocktail list. Please spend some time training them, they are letting the hotel down.

Review 68:The buffet breakfast could not have had more choice, hot or cold, thanks. Pool & lawns were clean and well maintained, excellent sunbeds. Cocktail bar is great place to relax with panoramic views to enjoy.

Review 69:Free Wifi not available in the room

Review 70:The room that I have was recently renovated. The view of the cliffs and sea is awesome!! The breakfast was excellent. This hotel is far better to what I expected based on 2014 comments.

Review 71:While far from looking as if it is crumbling, the hotel does need a huge amount of updating. Cracked tiles on bathroom floor and walls. Taps have very little chrome left on them. Bedside lighting very dated

Review 72:Sea view room well worth the extra money. Very friendly and helpful staff. The whole place is kept very clean and tidy.

Review 73:if there is to point out, maybe, some of the furniture in the bedrooms could be updated, though the cleaniness makes up for the dated furniture/

Review 74:everything. Also the complimentary tray for being a member of the Tivoli hotels. Also the freshly made waffles at breakfast.

Review 75:Directions to property can be better. The GPS could not find the hotel address when we took car from Faro airport (while being such a prominent landmark once you are in Carvoeiro). "Keep geographical coordinates (long-lat) handy" should have been a "Imp Note".

Review 76:Everything at and around was fantastic.Wish we had a sea facing room. =)

Review 77:Our original room was on the sixth floor, very small and the balcony had a solid wall which blocked the view. We requested a change and were transfered to the third floor. This was a better room and we were happy campers.

Review 78:Hotel is built on a cliff with an unobstructive view of the sea. You can hear the sound of the waves. Lovely pool area and poolside snack bar. We enjoyed our stay will go back.

Review 79:As I have a Loyalty card, my wifi & daily paper were free. I found the signal didn't support radio or video very well, constant stopping. I'm glad it was free, as it costs € 15 PER DAY.

Review 80:Very, very friendly staff. The room was comfortable and had a side view with a large balcony. We went in Bed & Breakfast basis, the breakfast had a very good selection. However, as stated in a previous review - avoid the sausages.

Review 81:The hotel is showing signs of wear and tear! The temperature of the hot water system was mega and so hot as to be dangerous.

Review 82:A well organised wedding. Excellent breakfasts.Very spacious rooms

Review 83:Wonderful ambience. Beautiful garden and with pool and sunbathing beds. All on the cliff top with fantastic views of the sea. The hotel is quite small and is almost a boutique hotel.

Review 84:As a business client I was unhappy that my room as a twin room, rather than a double bed. In addition, and to be honest far more disturbing, was the fact that me single bed was covered in a plastic cover which was so loud that it disturbed my sleep but I was afraid to remove it based on the implications of its presence.

Review 85:Breakfast was good but vegetarian food was extremely limited in content and variety. Had I been staying longer than 2/3 days this would have become an issue.

Review 86:Reception staff in particular were excellent. Very helpful and very friendly. One of the best settings you will find with views over the sea. The hotel amenities were also very good.

Review 87:Resort is getting a little old looking...threadbare carpeting etc. Will need an upgrade soon. Dinner was 28 Euros per person not including wine...a little pricey for us.

Review 88:Breakfast and location were excellent

Review 89:Despite the hit or miss on the wifi, the outdated decor/tv etc.. I thought it was worth it enough to warrant another booking for the summer.

Review 90:The location was perfect. The access to the beautiful beach below is incredible. The breakfast was very quite satisfactory. Really no complaints at all. We used the gym and it was decent to get a workout. The wifi was hit or miss. But almost every restaurant/bar we went into had great wifi connection. Overall, we had a great two day stay at the hotel and honestly, we are going to return this summer again!

Review 91:What's not to like about the Tivoli hotel? Cannot fault this hotel. As a frequent traveller I would not hesitate to book again. The location is superb. The outlook from the rooms facing the coast is spectacular. Our spacious room was complete with a generous balcony overlooking pool and sea. Without exception, the staff were courteous, helpful, and friendly. Our room was cleaned every day. The presentation and quality of food in the lovely restaurant was first class. Of course, it would have been lovely if the outside pool had been heated, but very few are during the 'winter' months. The icing on the cake would be to reinstated the pianist for their grand piano! and, no, I do not hold any shares in this establishment.

Review 92:We were thoroughly happy with everything.

Review 93:This being our 5th visit we absolutely enjoy everything about this hotel and its location. The staff are wonderful, happy to help with everything. The hotel is clean, the breakfast varied and plentiful and the facilities good. Plenty of free, safe parking. Close to many varied restaurants and bars. The surrounding beaches fantastic. We will be back for a 6th visit I'm sure.

Review 94:The wifi is non existent, the beds are like sleeping on plywood!

Review 95:This spot is all about the view, if you are looking for anything else don't hold your breathe. The view does make up for everything else it lacks. Location is great for walking to some great dinner and bars as well.

Review 96:Nothing bad, but not completely up to scratch was the flaky wifi, old style TVs with poor channels

Review 97:Helpful and friendly staff, convenient location for my purposes, good Discovery Club benefits

Review 98:The bathroom did not have any heating and the corridors were chilly as the hotel had only just opened.

Review 99:Friendly staff and cleanliness of the whole hotel.

Review 100:Hotel now showing signs of ageing and requires upgrading. This may be scheduled for next year.

Review 101:Excellent staff. Comfortable easy hotel well positioned.

Review 102:Poor barhrooms outdated Poor shower pressure Dirty brown water had too run all taps for 30 mins on arrival to get anything like clean water would not stay again

Review 103:Cleanliness

Review 104:Decor and fittings tired. Breakfast selection not as good as it used to be.

Review 105:Loocation of hotel, dining and drinking on the terrace. Large bedrooms andterraces

Review 106:Wifi is a bit hit & miss plus it is necessary to sign on every time you use their Swisscom facility during any one day!At €15/day the charge is excessive although to be fair the daily charge for us was cancelled when our bill for the week's stay was settled. However do check up with reception before signing up for wifi as to the Hotel's current policy.

Review 107:Tiredness of room , bathroom fittings v old, tiling old with less than pristine grouting. Old fashioned TV. Walled balcony meant could only see wonderful sea view when standing

Review 108:Breakfast. Excellent selection and attentive staff

Review 109:Small very warm rooms. no little extra touches expected of a 4 str hotel. Not very much ammenities offered in hotel ie; no small shop, pool bar opened and closed when it felt like it and the coffee shop needed to be open longer hours. There were times in the day where there was no food available anywhere in hotel. The breakfast was lovely but we never ate dinner in the hotel as we were told by several other guests that the food was not good at night and very expensive for what it was.

Review 110:hotel was clean and in beautiful location in cliff side but a good walk away from nearest shops and restuarants. Room was very nice but on small side and we had noisy plumbing system and a broken soap holder in bathroom.

Review 111:The rooms could be a bit more modern, however in relation to all the positives this was not important at all!

Review 112:The location was excellent, so tranquil and ideal for a relaxing holiday. Hotel very near the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go again!!

Review 113:Very little not to like. You would have to be a real moan to find anything wrong. Perhaps the bedrooms are a little tired but no doubt this will be addressed in due course.

Review 114:Very friendly, service first class and exceptionally clean. Food excellent and prices fair.

Review 115:- Stained carpet every where- TERRIBLE beds - poor room lighting - very loud AC - very poor quality breakfast that was all quantity and no quality - This hotel VERY much needs a makeover/update. We were scheduled to stay 9 nights but left in a hurry after 2!

Review 116:Great Location

Review 117:Staff polite and friendly Great location Good food Confortable, luxury rooms with plenty of space for 5 of us! Free parking space for rented car was a huge benefit! Beautiful surroundings, and just 10 minutes drive to Benagil beach from were one can take a boat trip to explore most of the famous caves.

Review 118:feel the indoor swimming area needs a face lift. (bit dull and uninviting. Breakfast okay

Review 119:Comfortable hotel to stay.Very friendly professional staff. Good size room. Hotel setting beautiful.

Review 120:Although the hotel Services Directory stated that "... depending on availability, you can request ... a late check out", this was denied to us, with the explanation that the hotel was "complete". When confronted with the information that Booking.com showed rooms available (all types) for that day, reception asked first what was our room number; and then proceeded to 'lecture' us that this was exactly the room which was not available. As clients, we don't like to be lectured and lied to.

Review 121:The facilities and location are great. Close enough to Carvoeiro, its beach and restaurants. The shuttle provided by the hotel to the nearest beach is quite useful and the beach is lovely. Good spacious room with all the amenities.

Review 122:Rooms very tired looking and would benefit from upgrading. However, the above outweighs this. Also, it was a shame that you have to pay extra to use the tennis courts. They were hardly ever used during our stay which is a shame.

Review 123:Excellent location. couldn't have asked for a more beautiful view from our balcony. Room always clean. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Within easy walking distance of town centre and beach.

Review 124:Room bit shabby and people putting towels on sunbed and not returning! Empty beds and nowhere to sit. If people haven't used the bed for an hour move the towel. Internet was rubbish.

Review 125:Breakfast was good

Review 126:There were too little programs to watch on TV in the evenings when one stays at the hotel. Food quality on 5th floor restaurant was too low for such a hotel as TIVOLI.

Review 127:Friendly and highly professional staff, quiet place even though the hotel is big. Lovely place to come back to again.

Review 128:The bedrooms need a revamp. The air con is very loud. Gym needs new equipment/row machine

Review 129:Staff very friendly, helpful, professional etc Rooms and areas kept clean Hotel quiet-extremely important!!

Review 130:The little cove the hotel overlooks is very hard to get to since there are stairs missing the last 5 feet to the beach. Younger people could hitch themselves up but it was really hard for me as an older person.

Review 131:Our room had a gorgeous view of the bay and was comfortable. The breakfast was good. The hotel is a short walk to Carvoeiro with many restaurants on the way. The staff were nice and helpful.

Review 132:Rooms were tired Pool bar food was terrible Reseption was old-looking Whole hotell smelled unusual/funny No proper entrance to beach

Review 133:Location was good There was always enough pool chairs Pool was nice but small

Review 134:Trouser rule in main restaurant as no trousers packed so cd not go in. Cooked breakfast not up to standard. Needed sun loungers on the balcony and parasol. People reserving pool sunbeds for hrs before they used them! Bed very hard

Review 135:Grotto Bar Pasta Meals in pool Restaurant Room size Maid Service location to town and beaches Excellent friendly and helpful staff. Quick check in/out

Review 136:WiFi was dodgy, rooms /air con could be updated but neither of these would stop us going back there. Staff, location and pool outweigh the rest!

Review 137:The location, staff very friendly, outdoor pool, pool and terrace bars, live music nights

Review 138:We did ask to be moved to a quieter room due to noisy electrical plant in the roof space adjacent to the room, which was done without quibble. It looks like general refurbishment is imminent as we've seen the hotel in excellent shape in the past; yet still pretty good.

Review 139:All the staff were friendly and helpful. My wife & I have visited several times since 2001 and some have worked there for at least that time - a good testament to Tivoli hotels.

Review 140:Dated decor! Gym is very basic and doesn't open til 8.30am-it's also in the dungeon! Only 2 sachets of coffee in room ( reluctant to give more)! Useless antique hair dryer attached to tiles in bathroom! Hotel needs a total refurb! Kids play area doesn't open til 10.30am and is unsupervised! Internet is very slow!

Review 141:Beautiful views! Breakfast-ok! Clean rooms! Lovely pool area! Downhill walk (15 mins)to The Square. Good kids playroom, close to outdoor pool).
