Review 1：In a great location near the National Parks and a more unspoilt part of Mauritius. A relaxing shady low-key resort with very friendly staff and comfortable clean nicely-decorated cabin. Very helpful owner. Close to some good restaurants. A few too many mosquitos but that is not their fault! Mozzies are everywhere. Some lovely bird life to make up for it.

Review 2：The attached restaurant Vanilla Bean was closed at the weekend in line with my stay. This was not mentioned at booking and was a key part of my choosing the place.

Review 6：The swimming pool looked very dirty so I don't think it was properly maintained. There are a lot of ants in the room. We didn't have a car so transport was really slow.

Review 7：The room and design is decorated beautifully. Location is good but you must need a car.

Review 8：It's not fully self-catering, just a microwave, a hot water kettle and a fridge. The breakfast is good, very original (served in an Indian style lunch box) but a bit more variety would have been nice (you get 2 rock-hard-boiled eggs every morning).

Review 9：Beautiful, modern, comfortable and stylish room and bathroom. Very friendly employees. Very clean. Breakfast on your own terrace surrounded by exotic birds in the garden as late as 11 a.m. - definitely a plus. Close to surf beaches, several attractions, supermarkets and restaurants.

Review 10：No beach front, the nearest public beach is about 5 minutes' drive away. There are no restaurants within walking distance so we had to drive to eat in the evenings. Limited cooking facilities, convection microwave only, for self-catering.

Review 11：A great base for local activities: Black River Gorge National Park visitors' centre 20 minutes drive; close to Tamarin, Le Morne. Friendly helpful staff. A good sized "apartment"; cabin-style, nicely furnished and decorated; tea, coffee, milk provided. Peaceful location. A good breakfast served to the cabin each morning. Onsite Vanilla Bean cafe; a peaceful spot for good coffee, cakes, lunch if wanting to relax on site; it's a shame they close at 3pm as it would have been good to have tea/coffee and cakes after a day out, and dinner; they do provide a great service for good salads for the evening if you don't want to venture out.

Review 20：The well appointed and comfortable rooms had everything we needed.

Review 21：No hot water in the kitchenette! Very odd since the shower has plenty of hot water. Didn't realize this until after we used utensils and glasses and wished we had doused them with boiling water from the teapot because we both got really bad bronchial infections almost immediately. Also couldn't believe that chickens were all over the porch where breakfast is served. I've never been forced to eat with barnyard animals before...they were pretty aggressive because they are used to being fed I guess. Not a great breakfast experience.

Review 22：The rooms are really well designed - modern, comfortable, and very well thought out. It was nice to have a kitchenette since the restaurant was closed while we were there during the New Year. The wifi works well and the shower is lovely with plenty of hot water. The only shower amenity was hand soap but we brought our own shampoo, etc. Overall the interior was clean except for small sugar ants that are difficult to get rid of but this also means that everything must be kept in the refrigerator to keep the ants out.

Review 23：We picked Vanilla House, since it was fairly close to Le Morne - the windsurfing spot -where we went every day. Also we looked at the booking.com ratings. Our expectations were fullfilled. It took us 20 minutes to drive to the best windsurfing spot in the world, and the hotel offered great tropical atmosphere after the sports. The design and the concept of the hotel are great. Breakfasts are very good, yet they are the same every morning (probably due to low season).
