Reviews for The Midcity Motor Lodge
Review 1:Small TV. Cannot insert DVD. No information On WI-FI so cannot log in. Air con too noisy, Not fully renovated as stated in advertisement. No kitchen, kettle does not fit under bathroom tap. Looks good on Paper but no good in reality. Will not return.
Review 2:Average hotel for a one night stay. Location is close to cbd.
Review 3:Room looked nothing like the photos, very small and had a musky old smell. Very small tv which had lots of noise on the screen. Not worth the price. Very old room, straight out of the 70s
Review 4:The location.
Review 5:Maintenance needs to be looked at in the unit we used. Bed has had it, the filter in the air conditioner is absolutely filthy as is the exhaust fan in the bathroom, part of the concrete has cancer, the plastic surround on the toaster is partially melted, there is a broken wall light, the bathroom door will not latch properly, the doona was stained, the room needs heavier curtains but the worst was a smell in the room which I think might have something to do with dampness. The motel room we used in Bathurst was cheaper, smaller and basic but there were no maintenance issues and we had free breakfast.
Review 6:Located in central Orange
Review 7:that they used my credit card without my permission and they did not wait until checkout like other motels
Review 8:They changed blankets and sheets every day when we asked for and they cleaned everything
Review 9:It's basic, and an older style but clean and nicely presented.
Review 10:Just across from the park, and next to major shops very easy to get everywhere we needed. Friendly guy when we checked in, no fuss.
Review 11:The 'family' room was a regular size room with more beds squished in! Not a lot of room to move within and definitely not suitable for more then one child. You also had to climb a flight of stairs to get to it (not convienient for a 'family' with a lot of luggage). The air conditioner was out dated and had to run consistently to keep the room cool. Some of the mattress protectors were electric blankets (the 'plug-in' device protruded out and made a hard lump under the sheet). Overall, a strange set up for a family.
Review 12:Location
Review 13:The toilet leaked badly for the 2 nights we stayed and although we alerted the staff no one looked at the problem. We asked for plenty of bath mats to soak up the water :( We stayed in the bigger room, another couple had a tiny room.
Review 14:The motel was close to everything and very central. The staff were very friendly. It was comfortable and very basic
Review 15:The room was "tired" and needed smartening up. The showersprayed water everywhere due to a broken shower head and faulty joint. Ireported this to the manager when checking out
Review 16:We found the room to be very small with nowhere to put our luggage. Only one chair meant one had to sit on the bed to eat breakfast. It was the most cramped room we have ever stayed in except for in Japan.
Review 17:It was centrally located
Review 18:The plumbing was terrible, the shower had massive water hammer and we were woken regularly with water hammer from other rooms. There was an Indian restaurant on site and during and all night after a wedding our room was almost unbearable with the cooking smell. We eventually checked out a day early
Review 19:Bed and linen were good. The location in town was excelent
Review 20:Very noisy from car park next door and the room was bright due to the aged curtains. The shower head also needed changing as water squirted everywhere.
Review 21:Convenience.
Review 22:The proximity of the room to the K.mart carpark which was fully lit throughout the evening and was being used a a skate park at 2.30am in the morning!
Review 23:Staff were inexperienced and not engaged with the guest. Information about the motel was not given such how breakfast was supposed to work.
Review 24:Price and location.
Review 25:would never stay again not recommend .to any one. girl on desk on arrival great. non english speaking india man on return not good.
Review 26:very little
Review 27:Otherwise all the facilities are basic. The carpet was tattered and torn. They only have the very basic TV channels. They do not offer a true continental breakfast. The hot breakfast is a high cholesterol and fat one.
Review 28:The location is the best advantage of this premises.
Review 29:When I first opened the door to the room I noticed a rather nasty smell, there was a stain on the sheets on the double bed so I slept in the single bed, parking of my car was a nightmare & the cost of the room was very high for what I received. When I mentioned my concerns the reaction was one of indifference.
Review 30:The staff were generally helpful, location good as it was an easy walk to the centre of Orange.
Review 31:Not much hanging space in wardrobe.
Review 32:Close to shops and facilities we needed to get to; comfortable bed; renovated bathroom with exhaust fan; it wasn't luxury, but definitely value for money.
Review 33:Mega friendly and helpful staff. Could not do enough for us. I had read the reviews and thought OMG what have I done booking in here, but in fairness, the people who run it have only been here a few months and are slowly renovating. A bit tired and out of date, but clean and comfortable and the restaurant is as good as it gets. Overall .. Excellent
Review 34:The limited amount of parking spaces would be my only negative point.
Review 35:It was comfortable close to the shopping centre and doctors and was nice and quiet considering there were so many people staying at the same motel.
Review 36:Old and run down nothing like the photos on booking. Com our room had no flyscreens burn marks all over the carpet and the taps were hanging off the wall in the shower. Will not be back
Review 37:It really needs renovating. My friend's room had a blocked toilet and he had to change rooms. Both of his rooms and mine had very noisy hammering pipes. The taps were very difficult to turn off in the basin, so it dripped. It was cold at night but the aircon was too loud to hear the tiny tv. The room was small but it was clean and fine for one person. The staff were pleasant and obliging and the new owners intend to renovate. For a short stay it's ok if you are out and about during the day. It's a bit cramped for more than a few days and on weekends there's not enough car parking. We had to park in the street.
Review 38:It is walking distance to everything in town.
Review 39:Advertised free wifi but password not provided on arrival which usually standard procedure everywhere else we have stayed. Room basic but comfortable, tap fittings in shower were loose/broken. A little overpriced for this accomodation.
Review 40:Staff were very friendly and gave us an upgrade for no cost! Close to town centre stayed at another hotel for 2 nights previous, when we went to Midcity we wished we had just stayed there our whole trip!
Review 41:Rooms were great for 2 people but a little small for 3.
Review 42:Walking distance to town for shopping restaurants. And sporting facilities no need to use the car.
Review 43:Uncomfortable chairs in room. Small tv which you couldn't see frombed. Frozen milk. Car parking was like playing Russian Roulette just notenough spaces
Review 44:Leaving
Review 45:My stay was during a cold period and the room remained quite cool as the air con couldn't be left on as the older unit was to loud to sleep.
Review 46:air conditioner turned on and off all night as it reached the set temperature (incredibly loud!) impossible to get any sleep. poor hanging spaces (fitting sticking out from wall). No surfaces to put things or spaces for suitcase /toiletries etc. See through thin curtains so car lights shone through. Returned at 11pm and had to park on the street and walk to the motel as insufficient parking available.
Review 47:location was good
Review 48:It looks nothing like pictures. Cobwebs in the cupboards. Exposed cordsand unsafe - the electric blanket switch blew up when I switched it on!Bathroom smelt and you had to slam the door to shut it and it'scheaper to book direct than anywhere else
Review 49:Located close to all stores
Review 50:Horrible , worst place ever sighted . Mind you I was in a budget room which was the only choice at the time of booking. External noise, very small room, not clean, broken air-conditioner. I could not sleep the whole night due to AC noise. When I told my local clients about my experience, nobody recommended this hotel for executive business traveller like me.
Review 51:Nothing , horrible place.
Review 52:The lack of a comfortable chair in the room, the location of a powerful extractor fan directly over the shower, the small television screen.
Review 53:Friendly staff, central location for my reason to come to Orange.
Review 54:Heater not real warm and very noisy , could not shut bathroom door (sign on door to make sure it is shut when in shower . Bit hard when cant)not real clean .Breakfast was late and sausages were not cooked (pink inside) Will not stay there again.
Review 55:Did not
Review 56:The room was very old, it could definitely do with a refurbish. I expected something a little better for the price.
Review 57:The staff were friends and helpful.
Review 58:The staff were very friendly and welcoming, we even got a free upgrade ! We stayed in the middle of winter and the hot shower and warm electric blankets on the bed made for a very comfortable stay !!
Review 59:Very small clothes closet, fridge and TV. Torn hole in the carpet. Insufficient parking for guests. Dangerous steps to upper level with no lighting provided.
Review 60:Good central location. Very pleasant cleaning staff.
Review 61:The room was very small. The curtain let in a lot of light so it was hard to sleep in. On our 2 night stay the bed wasn't made when they serviced the room after the first night. The TV was tiny could barely see what was on. Was very hard to find a park and when we did it was a tight squeeze
Review 62:Location was right where you needed to be in orange. Close to the city centre. Very comfortable bed and nice bathroom.
Review 63:Rooms were not as pictured. From the pictures it looked fairly modern and up to date. The 3 rooms we had for the night were not as such, at least they were clean.
Review 64:Staff was friendly and very accommodating
Review 65:Toaster but no plates or knives? A little noisy at night from the parking lot out back.
Review 66:Very friendly staff, small but tidy rooms. The bed was the highlight though! Were there in winter, room was nice and warm didn't even need heating (although heating is available).
Review 67:OLD air con extremely noisy. Couldn't sleep with noise so had to turn it off. Hammer from pipes was deafening when shower turned on.
Review 68:Snowy white sheets, recently renovated, bathroom very clean
Review 69:The room was very small. When travelling, one has suitcases and bags etc - we had to practically reload the car every day to leave room for the cleaning staff to work. Also, the motel is in need of renovating.
Review 70:The location of the motel was great. The bed was comfortable and the linen and towels clean and comfy.
Review 71:Room extremely small for a queen room Very, very noisy alongside shopping centre carpark, loud noise all night. Hoons using carpark for burnouts, stink from Indian Restaraunt on site. Over priced for a so called renovated room.
Review 72:decor fine
Review 73:Very disturbed sleep - noise from neighbouring rooms, trains in the middle of the night and the water/heating? system (very loud around 3.30-5.00am).
Review 74:Facilities and cleanliness gooD, and price reasonable.
Review 75:Was upgraded to standard twin room, not sure I would like to see the budget room. Quite dated and bathroom was very small and awkward.
Review 76:Beds comfortable and room was warm. Close to amenities and main street.
Review 77:I requested ground floor when booking as my husband cannot climb stairs. We were given a tiny room, impossible for more than one night. We could not have stayed the 7 nights as booked. We were changed to a really excellent room but only after I complained. It would have been nice to have had the offer when we booked in. From then on every thing went well
Review 78:Location Walking distance to restaurants and shops, the gallery and information
Review 79:There was a wide variety of people staying there (retirees, families, a huge bucks party group) and they clashed in arguments during the night.
Review 80:It was close to a lot of the Orange Food Week activities, and the room was warm (important in Orange)
Review 81:Very small room. Out dated and very noisy during the night as it is in Central CBD
Review 82:The room was extremely clean and well kept as was the whole of the property
Review 83:No Foxtel channels as listed, no iron in the room and the adjacent Indian restaurant was not open at all which I felt was poor considering how much marketing material was in the room.
Review 84:Really liked the location and the fact that this motel had a bit of its own history. The room had all we needed for our overnight stop and was clean and cosy.
Review 85:Room was absolutely tiny. Smaller than a room at a house. Parking was horrible when we got back from dinner at about 8pm. All spots were taken and had to park in the street. Should be a parking space per room. I think people that weren't even staying there parked there.
Review 86:Location was good, could walk to the good local pubs. Check in was easy. Room was clean and amenities were good
Review 87:Ironing board in room but no iron.
Review 88:Manager was excellent, we travelled with two elderly ladies on sticks and the manager ensured they had a ground floor room despite our booking
Review 89:I felt like bathroom needs to be updated/fixed. You really had to hold the button down for it to flush properly.
Review 90:The location, we didn't stay very long but the location of this place came in handy for us.
Review 91:Cleaness, and facilities in the room Like : kettle was dirty and no microwave , no iron board or ironing machine
Review 92:The location of the motel is in the centre of orange
Review 93:TV in a strange position, under a shelf, but was OK as did not book the room for that.
Review 94:Perfect location with everything you need. Staff was amazing. Spoke to two different receptionists in my time, both were exceptional and so, very helpful. Stay again if I come back through
Review 95:The room was very small and nothing like the photos on the website. No room to stretch or relax. Very old an drequiring some attention. For the price, I would expect a lot more.
Review 96:Location was good
Review 97:My 4th stay here but was allocated a totally inadequate room for a couple - crammed with 1 - single and a double bed. Now so delapidated the sooner the highly commercial site is sold the better. Best avoided.
Review 98:Relatively quiet and close to city facilities.
Review 99:Pictures don't correctly depict the rooms. Room was small and shabby with paint peeling off the walls and a constant off smell especially when the air conditioner was on. Air conditioner too loud to use, room was dusty and occasionally mosquitos and bugs were found of the bed, there were holes on our pillow cases and finally it was strange that we were charged for our stay at check in rather than check out.
Review 100:Location and price, value for money.
Review 101:Breakfast is terrible. 2 eggs , 1 sausage just as it stated. Absolutely nothing else.Would rather go to Maccas , at least it has value for monet
Review 102:Location good
Review 103:very dissappointed with the standard and size of the room as we booked a superior room. the curtains were useless as no black or lining. it was like trying to sleep in daylight. no room for hanging in tiny wardrobe. no cutlery or plates as such
Review 104:just the location
Review 105:Our suite was a bit run down but others in our group had rooms that had been renovated and were just fine - it did not affect our comfort in any way
Review 106:The Mid City Motor Lodge was just what we wanted- reasonable price clean and comfortable accommodation in the centre of town. We were able to walk to the locations for our event from the Motel - did not need to use the car. The shops were just around the corner and a lovely park just opposite.
Review 107:As above
Review 108:Basic but neat & clean. I was excited to watch Asian Cup games to discover the TV did not work at all! Reception were apologetic but no solutions offered. Discovered later that TV was working in other rooms.
Review 109:Parking. Raining heavily when i arrived and the entire parking area is flooded so crossing from car to room is very wet. The photos on the website seem to differ from the room given. A bit tired in need of paint.
Review 110:Clean and location
Review 111:Don't book budget room. Mattress was dreadful, could see springs. Upgraded and the mattress was fantastic.
Review 112:Location was great, could walk everywhere.
Review 113:Shower as the temperature changed all the time from hot to cold and also the wardrobes need more shelves and wider especially for families
Review 114:Location and laundry facilities along with the beds both double and single were very comfortable
Review 115:We booked this accommodation some time ago and the price stated for our 1 night stay was given at $105,45 but we ended up paying $116, odd the difference was put down as booking fees -not very happy that this additional cost was not advised at time of booking.
Review 116:Bed was so tiny, we're not even tall but over feet were hanging over the edge! Very uncomfortable
Review 117:Location is good, room was clean, convenient free parking
Review 118:Bathroom sink was in a very bad state, needed to be replaced. Not been updated since day it was built, which was 30+ years ago. They have painted walls which made it look better.
Review 119:Location & reasonable price. All staff were very friendly.
Review 120:The state of the room they urgently require upgrade. The hot water system is terrible obviously first thing in the morning everyone is having a shower, one stage I was nearly scald.
Review 121:Location is good if you don't have a vehicle.
Review 122:The shrubs near the path made car access difficult especially when raining. The shrubs should be trimmed There was no biscuits as supplied in other motels The toilet base or cistern leaked Needs a refurbishment We would not stay here again unless nothing else was available.
Review 123:Closeness to city
Review 124:A little shabby around the edges but, hey, who's fussy at this price!
Review 125:Value for money, central location, pleasant and helpful staff, great outlook to park opposite, and surprisingly quiet.
Review 126:Floors were dirty. With babies crawling around it wasn't very nice.
Review 127:Location and staff were great. Very helpful, bed was comfortable and great water pressure in the shower.
Review 128:Jets in spa bath didn't work In room phone didn't work No folder with info about facilities or places to eat out etc
Review 129:Centre of town, we could walk everywhere. When we got take out, staff accommodating when providing us with cutlery and plates.
Review 130:Room looked nothing like pictures on Internet, way too small for 3 people there wasn't even any room to put luggage it was so cramped. Huge gap under door letting cold air/outside cigarette smoke into room.
Review 131:Good location
Review 132:Noisy air conditioning unit, we were upstairs at the back of the motel and there was quite a bit of noise (late in the evening) from people in the rear lane
Review 133:Centrally located in Orange town centre, across the road from a nice park
Review 134:The "Superior Queen Room" we paid extra for was refurbished but we discovered it was much smaller than the "Standard Queen Room".
Review 135:Location- in CBD, so an easy walk to restaurants and shops.
Review 136:Lots of light from the building behind. The motel is dated. Coming from Orange originally, I am aware of how old it is. The room was a bit stuffy and had a slightly musty odour. However, we were only there to sleep and it served the purpose well. Thankyou
Review 137:The Motel was central to everything. The staff were friendly. The rooms were clean. The gentleman who booked us in was very nice and upgraded our room to accommodate my request for 2 beds. Thankyou
Review 138:No cutlery or crockery provided other than water glasses/ tea cups/ teaspoons. Stained dining chairs looked old and dirty. Spare blanket from cupboard covered in someone else's long dark hair.
Review 139:Parking included, conveniently located, comfortable bed, very economically priced. Small unit but bathroom/ shower size was adequate.
Review 140:Wasn't told to order breakfast. Advertising and in room brochure indicated breakfast was served in restaurant . Breakfast must be ordered on arrival. Staff did cook me a breakfast especially I must say.
Review 141:Staff very helpful. Room very neat and clean
