Reviews for Amagiso

Review 1:Highly overrated and expensive, the hotel is really run down, not clean, bad smell in the room.

Review 2:Beautiful location, good thermal spots, outside in the nature close to a beautiful waterfall

Review 3:Toilets and sinks in the rooms are quite dated. Compared to other ryokans in the same price category, they are a bit understaffed.

Review 4:Fantastic outdoor onsen at the impressive waterfall.

Review 5:We asked for a non smoking room. We were shown to a smoking room with no other option available. It was difficult to breathe as the air was so acrid! The hotel needs a lot of maintenance both inside and at the outdoor onsens. The dinner was only ok.

Review 6:The location of the outdoor onsen is really great. They are at the foot of a large waterfall.

Review 7:Brilliant stay, staff were extremely helpful, outdoor onsen was just magical. We also forgot out iPad charger and staff were incredibly helpful, quickly sending it back to us. Loved it all!

Review 8:If you are much taller or larger than the average Japanese, bring your own dressing gown.

Review 9:The open air onsen (hot spring pools) next to the waterfall are lovely. The indoor baths are great for a quick bath if you don't want to walk down to the outdoor baths. Food was served in our room and was a whole set of different fresh dishes in the kaiseki style every day - very traditional Japanese food. Breakfast was also multi-course Japanese food when we stayed, not a buffet, which was very nice. Very polite and helpful staff, even the ones who don't speak much English, we found a phrasebook was useful. A few minutes walk away there are several small restaurants and shops for lunch, and the walk along the 7 waterfalls.

Review 10:Small things not worth mentioning, the location made up for any small inconvieniences.

Review 11:Great location, Izu Skyline and 7 waterfalls right next door. Outdoor Onsen with 1 of the 7 waterfalls ! Friendly, discreet staff, delicious food.

Review 12:Only downside was the offered amount of towels (there's just one in your room) and in case you are not used to sleep in a Japanese style bed, this might be not the most comfortable night you have spent.

Review 13:This was my first visit of an Onsen in Japan and I just loved it. The Onsen is in the middle of nature, surrounded by a beautiful forest and an amazing waterfall.

Review 14:Room smells a bit of damp, but it can't be avoided so close to the river

Review 15:outdoor spa was awesome. Staff were very nice.

Review 16:Very nice staff Outside baths in front of waterfalls Yukata Traditional japanese dishes Massage chairs

Review 17:Food was good, not great for the money. Bedding not comfortable

Review 18:The onsen was really wonderful!

Review 19:Very old and bad administration

Review 20:The nature around

Review 21:Nothing

Review 22:Love the keiseki dinner Friendly staff remenbers me from last year

Review 23:Old cigarette odor in non-smoking room.

Review 24:Beautiful surroundings, soft yukata, superb food, kind staff.

Review 25:-ping-pong and karaoke were unavailable and an extra cost

Review 26:-onsen -waterfall -staff -location -shuttle service -rooms

Review 27:A bit isolated in the mountain.

Review 28:The onsen (outdoor and indoor). The restaurant.

Review 29:Onsen room, location, food

Review 30:food is just ok,not so good

Review 31:outdoor onsen is excellent, very close to the natural waterfall and indoor onsen are also nice

Review 32:The location of hotel is not easily accessible especially if one travels by train or buses. Suppose this is the compromise that has to be made to be close to the scenic places such as the waterfall.

Review 33:There is staff that could converse well in English so it is extremely helpful. The outdoor onsen that is next to the waterfall was a bonus for onsen goers in addition to the indoor pool. Hotel offers pick up/drop off at Kawazu station.

Review 34:Beautiful location with mountain views and waterfall. Large, quiet facility. Comfortable tatami rooms. Accommodating, courteous staff. Delicious meals.

Review 35:Dinner very good; staff very helpful (The one who could speak English speaks very good English); The experience of hot spring bath next to a great waterfall is great.

Review 36:The food was great - i extended my stay because i was waiting for sakura mankai. The food was different each day for 6 days. Check out the kawazu sakura festival - they bloom for 1 month mid feb to mid march. Staff was attentive - they remembered that I like my water with a slice of lemon and served me lemon water for my meals.

Review 37:Quilt a little bit damp. I just don't like Japanese style sleeping!

Review 38:hotspring and 7 waterfalls

Review 39:True Japanese experience with fabulous Onsen and mountain setting

Review 40:Food, and expansive.

Review 41:Waterfall and Hot Spring.
