Reviews for Nightingale Falls Farm Stay Retreat
Review 1:Scott & Karyn and family were outstandingly welcoming and truly helpful. They even transported us to Thames Hospital A&E to have a leg injury x-rayed and checked, and stayed with us during the long wait. We so much enjoyed our stay with them and our trailer tour of the domain/farm.
Review 2:One of the best places we stayed in NZ! Family was so friendly. We enjoyed the walks around the farm as well as the Farm Tour and feeding the animals. If we ever come back to NZ, this will definitely be on our list again!
Review 3:This was one magical location with one of the best sunsets I've witnessed . Karyn n Scott were superb hosts. The dogs n animals were a delight to be around. Would definitely stay for longer period the next time I visit and experience the bush and learn a few survival skills.
Review 4:We loved it that Karyn was able to arrange to have us picked up at the base of the mountain as our rented car was not allowed to travel on gravel road. Otherwise we would have had to cancel our booking. We love the warm & kind hospitality of Scott, Karyn, Ben, Ethan, Spencer & Jorja who all pleasantly greeted us upon our arrival. They really made us feel at home. All the dogs were playful & friendly. Tiberius the Shire horse, Lambie the lamb & Charlotte the baby lamb were all adorable. We could feel their connection humans and it was very thrilling to experience. A really wonderful place to go & will explore the farm & its wilderness in future.
Review 5:The electric went off in the middle of the night so it was quite inconvenient for the elderly who wanted to go to the toilet.
Review 6:One of the best farmstay I've ever went. Stunning view and love the cosy house. They have lotsa animals in the farm and all were really friendly. Nice and lovely host, really love them. Breakfast was really nice especially the smoke bacon.
Review 7:A pretty, very comfortable place to stay - perfect to relax after our flight from UK. Karyn and Scott were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed a guided walk around the farm with Scott.
Review 8:We weren't aware that is was so far away from anything, the roads were so challenging that we needed a lift from our hosts to get back to our car. No way you can quickly grab some dinner in town...
Review 9:The farm is located in a superb spot in the middle of the bush yet with breath taking views. Accommodation like no other. The hosts are a delightful family who couldn't have done more for us.
Review 10:could not take the car up the track without a 4 wheel drive to accommodation which made it difficult to get out into the town if you can't walk that far although the host would almost certainly have accommodated us by driving but we did not like to take up their time as they were so busy but really enjoyed the views and weather was very good to us so can't complain
Review 11:The host and hostess and family very friendly and considerate the children were very polite
Review 12:Weather could have been better. :-)
Review 13:The perfect place for a farmstay, amazing outdoor experience for our kids and the hosts are just the best. We loved their warm and authentic way of welcoming their guests and the way they take care. This was a great experience for all of us.
Review 14:Such a warm welcome from all the family. Beautiful location, lovely set out accommodation, stunning views from the cottage & so peaceful. We had a great sleep. Hoping to get back next year. The homemade pizza & salad were delicious well worth a try & don't forget to try the ice cream best ever.
Review 15:Nothing we didnt like.
Review 16:Watching your kids do something different than watching TV, go on the laptop or playing playstation during the weekend. It was good to get away. It's a great place to ride on the front of the tractor, feed the chickens, and pat the horses. Enjoyed our time at Nightingale. Well worth paying for the Farm Tour.
Review 17:Although we stayed at several 5 star properties on our NZ holiday, and we could not rate Nightingale in that category , this will be the highlight of our holiday. A unique and unexpected adventure for us. We were blessed to share Karyn and Scott's beautiful cottage, and more importantly, to spend time with this lovely family. Farm life, tranquility, stunning views!
Review 18:Charmingly decorated cottage Very comfortable, luxurious bed & linens Excellently appointed kitchen Beautiful views of the mountains and ocean Adventure just getting to the farmstay. Not just accommodation--this was an experience! Our favorite in NZ
Review 19:Even the drive up was fun for city folks like us, and at mid-hill, we were welcomed by Scott, a herd of his cows and a few chickens. Great start to a wonderful farm stay. Scott, Karyn and family were very warm and friendly, and we had a great time of sharing late into the night. Even their sons, Spencer and Ethan, were fantastic with our two kids! Touring and getting to know the farm and its grounds the next morning was splendid - the lamb and the piglet that won't spend a day apart from each other, the cows, the chickens, the waterfall.. We should have stayed for a few more nights, and we'll be back again for sure!
Review 20:Scott and Karyn and their children were great hosts and made you feel like part of the family. The views were spectacular. The cottage was close to the main house with all of the conveniences you require. The farm tour was fun and great to see all of the sights. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:Everything
Review 38:Karyn and Scott are amazing hosts and their children delightful. The farm has breath-taking views and there is a calm and serenity that is unbelievable. It will be a challenge to find another place that will come close. We are fortunate to have been able to experience Nightingale.
Review 39:We loved the setting of this farmstay. It's quite remote so it may not be for you if you want shops and restaurants just round the corner. But if you enjoy being active, outdoors, want a break from a busy life or just want a very different break it may well be for you. The farmhouse is high above the sea and the views and sunsets are fabulous.
Review 40:Leaving.
Review 41:Everything! What a brilliant 3 nights, didn't want to leave. Have plans to revisit when we are next in NZ. We were given a superb welcome that has surpassed any previous experience. Will remain friends with the hosts always.
Review 42:Loved the rural setting- so beautiful and peaceful. Loved our friendly caring hosts - a real treat. No one wanted to leave on the last day - a real thumbs up to the wonderful people that Scott, Karyn and their children are. We felt so relaxed after our stay - just the best holiday ever :-)
Review 43:C'était tout simplement fabuleux, à ne pas manquer. Des gens adorables, très accueillants, authentiques avec un sens du partage comme on n'en fait plus...Un vrai paradis.... It's just a place to be. My kids 13,11 and 8 years old just adore the place and had a great fun with the Martins kids whom are adorable and very helpful, the horses and the Three dogs are very funny. The Farm tour was just wonderful. It was difficult for us to leave the place. We will come back for sure next year.
Review 44:The fact that we had to leave and go back to our lives.
Review 45:The hospitality... The generous nature of our hosts.. The sharing n caring... The views.. The animals..!
Review 46:Would have been nice to have net curtains to enable enjoying the views and relaxation early morning without being on view to everyone outside. Would have benefitted from a mini fridge to have some milk to enable drinks when needed without going into hosts's kitchen (milk goes off almost immediately)
Review 47:Wonderful views Fantastic hosts and their children Lovely animals Great accommodation
Review 48:I wasn't warm enough the first nite and had a problem with the hot water not working. The difficulty of access only being by 4 wheel drive.
Review 49:The location,views and friendly family,great hospitality
Review 50:That we had to leave. It' was our first break in years & so relaxing!!! We love Karyn, Scott and their family!! Nothing to not like!!!
Review 51:The kindness and friendliness at any request we made....was incredible!! They looked after us and me as I faced a circumstance that was difficult & traumatic in many ways, embracing the whole family in its diversity. We are looking to return early 2014....we loved it so much!!
Review 52:Hard to get to
Review 53:The beauty was stunning, the atmosphere was so welcoming and nice, very unique and worth the travel. Food was outstanding, Scott and Karyn were the best!
Review 54:A little away from the City, so one must remember to get all your foodalong. In case one forgets something important then you willinconvenience the hosts as they will have to drive you down to yourvehicle at the main gates which is around 1.5kms from the cottages.
Review 55:The views were breathtaking. It was a very relaxing. Both Scott andKaryn were very gracious hosts and made our stay very comfortable.Enjoyed the walk around the paddock, patting the animals and being soclose to nature
Review 56:I didn't like to leave.....
Review 57:Great hosts Scott, Karyn and kids, beautiful location, perfect to relax or participate in Farm life. We stayed here in a total of 6 nights over 2 stays and we will surely be back for more. Nightingale Falls Farm Stay Retreat and its hosts have a special place in our hearts! Highly recommended.
Review 58:I did not like the fact that we eventually had to leave, and I had to go back to work. This is the ONLY thing I did not like and was not due to the Martins, but just the predestined fact of life.
Review 59:This was so much more than I imagined. We felt as if we belonged there and had been friends with the Martin family forever. This was the most refreshing, serene, country, get away that anyone could imagine. We originally booked one night and expanded to two nights before we arrived, do to excitement. After two nights stay we asked if we could stay for a third night because we did not want to go.
Review 60:We hated to leave.
Review 61:The welcoming atmosphere and the incredible accommodation. The hosts could not have been more helpful and the view can't be beat. Relaxing, back to nature but with all of the creature comforts.
Review 62:Beautiful landscape. Quaint but comfortable accommodation. Slept like a log. Tasty and plentiful breakfast. Very friendly and gracious hosts. Recommend if you want something different for a night or two.
Review 63:We recently enjoyed two nights at the Nightingale Falls Retreat FarmStay. We had planned to only be there to sleep while exploring theCoromandel Peninsula. After arriving at the farm and meeting Scott,Karyn and their three beautiful children, we decided spend the followingday with them on their very reasonably priced farm tour. We enjoyed ahay wagon tour of the farm and a bit of hiking. Highlights includeNightingale Falls, seeing a working New Zealand family farm and a guidedhike to explore the Zenith Mine. Karyn put together a delicious lunchfor all of us at short notice. Our comfortable, impecably clean andnicely decorated accommodation was beautiful inside but the excellentview of the valley from our bed and deck to the water stole the show! Weslept like babies in the peaceful quiet setting. The very best part ofthe visit was the Martin family sharing their lives with us during ourvisit. Another family during our visit had children. The Marin childrenspent a lot of time showing the visiting children around the farm. TheMartin family is very welcoming. The farm feels remote, but their frontgate is only 5 kilometers by car from Thames at the end of a road thatwinds through a beautiful valley alongside a sparkling creek. TheMartins meet you at their gate and transport your luggage the lastkilometer to your accommodation. We highly recommend a visit toNightingale Falls Farm. You won’t be disappointed.
Review 64:It is very remote.
Review 65:The self-contained cabin we stayed in was clean and had a marvelous view down to the Firth, and around this remote and peaceful farm stay. The family is welcoming and the food (if you choose that option) is hearty farm fare.
Review 66:The place
Review 67:Some means to contact farm from the gate would make one feel more welcome.
Review 68:View was outstanding. Would be a great farm experience for a young family.
Review 69:Perfect view! Perfect Service! Perfect food! The best holiday stay in my life!
Review 70:Location and facility. Very quiet. Good retreat. Friendly service. Next time will stay longer.
Review 71:The view was breath takingly beautiful. The cottage was comfortable and very pretty.
