Reviews for Showers Inn

Review 1:When you get old climbing the steps in the courtyard wasn't too much fun.

Review 2:Great location, walking distance to downtown, Kirkwood and the campus. Breakfast was great. Everything was great, staff, cleanliness. We even enjoyed having the college kids all around us.

Review 3:With the near-campus-neighborhood location comes the inevitable student revelry on the weekend. There was a Friday evening outdoor party visible from my room, but it didn't run late and was no inconvenience.

Review 4:The bedroom was as clean, comfortable and well-appointed as I expected, but I was surprised by how spacious it was. And the grounds were impressive--nicely planned and attended to. Breakfast was included (in spite of what booking.com led me to believe) and was varied and generous, with spinach strata and turkey hash among the offerings, but also regional favorite biscuits and gravy.

Review 5:As great as the room is aesthetically it minor fails on practical matters in the bath. Hot water gone after 1 shower, faucet on bath sink gets in way of using sink (brushing teeth, shaving), bath sink is stand alone bowl and doesn't drain well, only mirror in room is above sink, no room to place toiletries for two near sink. Docking station to play your phone over in room speakers works for iphone 4 only, no jack for usb or plug to use other type of phone (it's a bonus feature for sure but if you offer it, it should work). We were in north end "de-lovely" room above the courtyard parking, lot was loud after hours, AM trash pickup at neighboring apartments was loud. Would chose room away from parking lot.

Review 6:The room was very clean, large, nicely decorated, wet bar, fridge, microwave, flat screen, DirecTV, WiFi, blow dryer, fireplace on timer. Beautiful bathroom, nice shower tub, good water pressure. Nice bed. Aesthetically excellent room. Grounds and parking were super. Staff was courteous. Location was excellent. HVAC was #1. Rooms named after songs from composers lended to cool factor. Modern renovation of historic older home into multiple bedrooms on two floors. Dining room in main house looked very appealing but did not eat breakfast.

Review 7:We had much difficulty navigating around in our room without injuring our feet and shins on the large posts at the foot of the bed--we padded around them with some of our softer carrying bags. Bathroom space was a bit limited since one drawer needed a knob so couldn't be opened.

Review 8:The breakfasts were excellent and allowed us to have another chance to socialize with our friends. The staff was helpful with luggage, as well as with other miscellaneous requests. We learned about the history of Showers Inn as it related to the development of Bloomington. Courtyard was beautiful with good space for cars.

Review 9:Loved the character of the place and that upgrades had been made that kept the integrity of the old building. Room was beautiful with a great view, breakfast was delicious, and a very reasonable price. Will definitely return and recommend.

Review 10:We liked a lot. It was quiet. For our needs it was centrally located. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was fabulous, my husband said several times, "I really like this bed!" When we came back after our evening out, it was to the aroma of bread baking. Breakfast was fresh and delicious!! We will definitely stay here again.

Review 11:What was not to like???

Review 12:I loved the beautifully preserved, excellent architecture in the inn. Spacious room, modern bath, comfortable bed, breakfast, and friendliness of staff and owner. This is a gem, and I plan to make it a future destination. One of the best B&B's including both coasts!!

Review 13:That we had to leave after one night to go back home!

Review 14:The Showers Inn is a hidden gem in Bloomington, Indiana! From the moment you walk in the front door and see the front parlor you know you are in for a treat! The rooms are well appointed and so quiet! The bed was very comfortable, just the right amount of pillows and covers. The bathroom was like a mini spa, loved the Kohler jacuzzi tub, especially aftwr moving two kids intontheir college rooms! The tables were set beautifully for breakfast; sadly we were not able to experience that part of the stay. The staff that we met were friendly and helpful! We wished we could have stayed longer!

Review 15:I was in town with my daughter to register for IU and we chose this wonderful gem. Beautifully restored and appointed with well selected furnishings, linens and other touches you'll enjoy the comfort and space this vintage inn provides. The friendly owners and staff are quite accommodating and welcoming. With the included breakfast, Showers is quite competitive to the chains and offers a terrific in town location. Treat yourself to a stay at this historic inn!

Review 16:Had some trouble with the WiFi. It was late so we didn't feel like calling to ask. Both of us are IT and still couldn't get it to function properly. Wasn't really important for this visit.

Review 17:Beautiful property. Located downtown so walking to restaurants was easy. On site parking was nice. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had to beg my wife not to steal one of the pillows as they were amazing. We will be staying here many more times in the next 4 years.

Review 18:My room was by the balcony that was shared for many other guests. It lacked a bit of privacy and the other guests were loud late at night.

Review 19:The property was beautiful. The house had old charm with modern conveniences. It was very clean. The breakfast in the morning was very good and freshly made.

Review 20:The street was not easy to find on the route I took from IU as the street sign had been removed, so I needed to circle around a little due to the one way streets. I was on the first floor and unfortunately I was below someone who was up moving around much later at night than I had planned; due to the floor creaking above me I was woken up several times. Next time, I will request a second floor room directly from the hotel.

Review 21:The property is beautiful. The rooms are well decorated, larger than they appear on the website, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The off street parking was very convenient. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed hearing about history of the place and the renovations that had been done. The breakfast was freshly made and I enjoyed socializing with the other guests; especially because most of us were there for student orientation with our soon to be IU freshmen.

Review 22:Location. The house directly across from our room is a rental for college students. Thursday night partying was in full force. Didn't get to sleep until 1 a.m.

Review 23:House is beautiful and Mike is very friendly. The grounds are stunning.

Review 24:It is so comfortable. We frel it is our home away from home

Review 25:The large, clean, attractive room. The choice of breakfast foods and their good taste. The helpfulness of the owner and late-night clerk.

Review 26:Longer hours on breakfast

Review 27:Everything

Review 28:Close to campus and downtown. Beautifully restored staff if friendly and helpful. Garden in the rear is very pretty. Will stay there again.

Review 29:The property was beautiful and our room was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 30:A party was going on outside and was quite loud til 1am but not hotels fault;)

Review 31:Lovely room with porch!

Review 32:The garden/backyard.

Review 33:Breakfast was good, but had to wait for a place to sit and wait repeatedly for more foid to be cooked.

Review 34:Our suite had the balcony. It was such a beautiful place.

Review 35:For what you get for the price, I will never stay at a hotel chain in Bloomington again! Everything was superb, the property, food and staff!
