Reviews for Hotel Stad en Land

Review 1:One minor point, would have been nice to have had tea & coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 2:Friendly staff...location, right across the street from railway and bus station and 5 minutes from centre. Also excellent breakfast!

Review 3:The hotel was easy to spot from the train station. We picked it because it was right near the train station and we didn't want to travel across town looking for the hotel. You can definitely walk from this hotel into town where there is lots of shopping and excursions. The coffee shop is right around the corner from it too if you are feeling really overwhelmed and tired from missing your train about 3 times.

Review 4:The shutter on the bathroom window wouldn't come down, not great when taking a shower.

Review 5:The location was perfect, we travelled by train so the hotel was just across the road. The staff couldn't have done enough to help us. Very friendly and accomodating.

Review 6:The stairs to our room were very difficult to negotiate for my husband, who is 90....and there was no other room available!! Staff appreciated the difficulty, but couldn't do anything about it.

Review 7:Very convenient location close to the railway station and within walking distance of the town centre (although buses also available)

Review 8:Nothing at all to complain about here!

Review 9:I thought this hotel was great. It is dead easy to find - right opposite the rail / bus interchange - which is a bonus after a day's travelling! The town centre with the remarkable Grote Kerk is just a few minutes walk away. There is a lovely bar which serves excellent beer. Room was comfortable, breakfast was good, staff very friendly - all just as it should be. I'll be back.

Review 10:Very comfortable, unpretentious, staff very welcoming and helpful, with everything you need, including bike parking and a bar for a nightcap. The balcony was an added bonus! Great value too.

Review 11:Th hotel is very conveniently placed to the station and town centre. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful also offering a free beer on the first night.

Review 12:No plug in the bathroom basin of room 8 and possible steepness of stairs - certainly would not suit anyone with a disability.

Review 13:Very friendly, helpful staff and value for money. Good breakfast too. Anyone travelling by train this would be ideal. Also liked the historical nature of the hotel.

Review 14:I did not feel safe with some of the people that were hanging around very close to the hotel. I was not comfortable walking about in the evening with my young children alone.

Review 15:Wonderful staff, good breakfast, beautiful room.

Review 16:Typical dutch staircase to access first floor (steep and narrow tread) as no lift. Rooms are located in adjacent 'houses'.

Review 17:Convenient to rail and bus stations. Warm welcome and comfortable room. Quiet location even though busy road outside. Excellent bed. Good breakfast.

Review 18:The hotel itself does NOT allow pets according to their own web page. In Booking.com they do list themselves as allowing pets... confusion. No heating the bathroom. Really really cold in there. We left the door open to have warm air move from the main room into the bath room.

Review 19:Due to the pet issue we got updated to a room with wooden floor. Updated? Yes. It was a huge room, with two very good double beds.

Review 20:Conveniently placed by the bus and train station and only a short walk to the old town centre. Very friendly staff and a convivial atmosphere in the bar with other guests.

Review 21:warm comfortable hotel, across the road from the train and bus station, great helpful staff with any questions you have and beautiful breakfast. A town full of friendly helpful people.

Review 22:Be aware of very steep and narrow stairs up to the 1st floor. There are rooms available at street level.

Review 23:We liked the convenience, very friendly and welcoming staff, and exceptionally clean facilities. Our room, facing the train and bus interchange was a quiet as a mouse. It is so easy to get to the centre of town with its gorgeous architecture and interesting cafes

Review 24:Our room was a bit outdated, although clean. The owner told me that there were going to do some renovations, so I guess this will be solved on the short run.

Review 25:We were welcomed in a very pleasant way by the owner/manager. The location is very good. Right in front of the central station. Parking place is also very near. Breakfast was good. Rooms are quite spacious.

Review 26:First impression is one of simply a mediocre bar, rather than an hotel. Room though quite stylish needs redec. Tacky cheap wardrobe with chipped paint.

Review 27:Location 15 mins walk from town centre, friendly staff. Good modern ensuite bathroom. Good size bedroom with comfortable beds.

Review 28:Our room direction was to the main street so it was a little bit noisy.

Review 29:The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfest is reach. Richard help us in every way he could. We are really recommend the hotel.

Review 30:The long term parking is quite far from the hotel.

Review 31:We stayed at the Hotel one night, this is to be able to visit the Cheese market. The hotel is very nice with large and very nice room, the staff is very supportive and ready to help at any time. Wonderful breakfast.

Review 34:Really comfy beds

Review 35:The location - central and easy to find. The staff were fantastic- extremely friendly and helpful. The room was simple but clean.

Review 36:Room was not ready when promised and no one advised us before arrival.

Review 37:Location, breakfast

Review 38:Friendly staff, good wifi.

Review 39:Great reccomendaitons for drinks and eating in Alkmaar and personal attention to detail.

Review 40:Women work in hotel her name is sendi is very friendly and helpful

Review 41:location - close to train station, friendly staff, comfortable

Review 42:Location is very nice Staffs are nice Breakfast is OK Room facility is supplemental Room is clean Wifi is very stable

Review 43:Friendly staff, location

Review 44:It could have some bathing and shower lotion

Review 45:I liked the location and the people that worked there

Review 46:Perfect location for the station, town centre, restaurants, bars. Friendly staff, clean spotless rooms. Recommend.

Review 47:Steep staircase to our room on the second floor

Review 48:Excellent staff, very helpful

Review 49:everything was great even if we slept like only 2 hours in that room. The breakfast is good, people working there are really nice.

Review 50:friendly and kind people; excellent breakfast

Review 51:Suggested parking is a long distance from the hotel. Parking around the hotel is outrageously priced. The rooms are very small and stairs very steep.

Review 52:Friendly people, good food, comfortable accommodation,

Review 53:Breakfast was minimal for the cost When paying the bill it was more than expected ???

Review 54:Clean helpful staff member

Review 55:Service Cleanliness Coziness Close to trainstation.

Review 56:Small room

Review 57:The staff were very friendly, excellent shower, short pleasant walk into the town centre

Review 58:Friendly and efficient. Good breakfast. Excellent for the price.

Review 59:parking near = the half mile from hotel

Review 60:I got the room in the roof floor with challenging staircase (when one needs carry luggage)

Review 61:Location is excellent and staff very useful and friendly

Review 62:Shower was the bathroom and steep stairs.

Review 63:We were on foot. Good location from the train. Good atmosphere with the locals. Helpful and great harbor.

Review 64:Great location for arriving by train or bus and for exploring the town. Very hospitable staff and fantastic breakfast

Review 65:The rooms need a bit of renovation and it would be nice with a cleanup in the back yard.

Review 66:Very friendly straff and very close to the railway with Easy acess to Amsterdam and other cities. The rooms were Big and quiet, everything was clean.

Review 67:I would have liked a few more toiletries.

Review 68:The hotel is in a good position, just outside the station, and 10 minute walk to the centre of Alkmaar. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Review 69:Nothing at all to complain about. It's really nice there.

Review 70:The hotel owner and all his staff were particularly nice, helpful and polite at all times. Hotel is very conveniently located and offers an excellent buffet a la carte breakfast. I stayed for three nights in room 22 from 11th - 14th May and will definitely stay again at Stad en Land. Highly recommended.

Review 71:Strength of wifi is not good enough to reach all rooms. They should look at the strength and reach of their wireless routers and update to the more recent specification routers that have greater range or use repeaters. Parking is nor readily available included in the booking price. It is available on a per day basis from the railway station car park that is one an adjacent and parallel street at a cost of €7,75 per day (24 hour cost) but that is only per visit. If you leave and come back again in the same day, you pay again. There is no separate overnight cost. This should be pre-declared so that a true cost comparison can be made.

Review 72:Excellent attitude and helpfulness. General attitude to providing service is attentative, friendly and efficient. If only the English could be like that instead of the surly manner that is so often experienced.

Review 73:Room in the ground floor by the street, so any noise could be heard easily inside. In that day there wasn't a lot of it, but I guess it's not always like that.

Review 74:Convenient location (in front of the train station), clean and comfortable room, helpful staff.

Review 75:Bathroom was a bit cold since the radiator is in the room. Room price seemed quite high...but I am not sure about local standards

Review 76:Room was quite large.

Review 77:No phone in room, not enough mirrors to do makeup, shave, ect. there was only one small one in the bathroom, no refrigerator, no laundry facilities to do your own laundry,

Review 78:Location, Breakfast, Bed was comfortable, clean, staff were nice

Review 79:Nothing really to complain about but would've been nice to have a kettle & some coffee sachets / tea bags to make a hot drink but maybe this is more of a British hotel / B&B thing.

Review 80:The hotel bar / restaurant was very comfy & welcoming. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Review 81:-poor furniture for clothes -shower without cabin -no chair in the room -heating system poor -poor confort

Review 82:-location -good brakfast -value of money

Review 83:Everything! Cosy, clean and comfortable room with good wifi connection, many tv channels, lovely fresh food breakfast (love the orange-juicer machine!), very friendly, warm welcome by owners, lovely city centre (shoppers paradise) just a 10-minute stroll (or 3 speedy bus stops) away. The short distance (across the road!) from the rail and bus station so no need to drag my case through the streets. Frequent train service to/from Amsterdam or Haarlem and the opportunity to see the Dutch countryside. Will definitely stay at Hotel Stad en Land again.

Review 84:The managment style is quite abrupt and not hugely welcoming. Having a bedroom on the ground floor next to the road.

Review 85:Location was good. The beds were comfortable. Freshly squeezed orange juice was a real treat for breakfast.

Review 86:Nothing to complain about.

Review 87:Friendliest staff ever! I was made comfortable from the first minute I arrived. The hotel is very well situated opposite the train station. The internet connexion was fast and reliable.

Review 88:Leaving!

Review 89:Wonderful location, close to station and town centre. Richard and his team are friendly and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable, including keeping the bar open when he should have been in bed! Deliciousl breakfast. Lovely comfortable beds. Safe cycle storage.

Review 90:The food could have been a bit better but was ok

Review 91:Hotel Stad and Land is friendly and convenient to everything very easy to get to from airport very clean will be back again

Review 92:Friendly staff, nice bright rooms, I have stayed here everytime I visitalkmaar, although there are other hotels in the area I have never feltthe need to try them, this one ticks all the boxes for me.

Review 93:We were located on the top floor and during warmer days airflow was notenough to cool down the room which has no airco. This is apparently dueto outstanding matters yet to be resolved with the landlord. Sometraffic noise is evident but to be expected given the location. Laundryfacilities and a bit more storage would be useful.

Review 94:It's proximity to public transport and the short walk to the citymake it an ideal affordable location. Certainly a place I wouldstay at again.

Review 95:There was a metal fire escape and metal balcony at the back of thehotel. On Saturday morning, at 5.15 my time (6.15 Dutch time), childrenwere let out to play on this and were banging on the metal which wasincredibly loud. As this was the only time I could sleep in, I feltrather tired and exhausted there. Additionally, the insulation of therooms could have been better. Otherwise this room, stay and staff wereextremely good.

Review 96:The staff were most welcoming and stayed up so I could check in late. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean.

Review 97:The stairs/steps are too steep to be true. It is in fact a bit too scary to us with heavy luggages. The elderly customers better stay at Ground floor. The free Wi-Fi did not work at all. Our computer received no signals, even at the hotel reception! But staff was helpful enough to let us do the e-check-in for the flight boarding at their own computer at the reception desk.

Review 98:The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great. Location is perfect. Room is spacious and clean.

Review 99:Hotel room large for a family but uncomfortable beds- not really hotel standard. Rommel right above the bar and vey noisy even on a Wednesday night. Parking difficult as only a ail able is at a pay and display carpark, which needs change and is some way from the hotel.

Review 100:Quite convienent for where we needed to be.

Review 101:Its difficult to find anything, as it was very nice, but it would have been good to have some extra blankets in the room as it was a bit cold that night.

Review 102:I liked pretty much everything about our stay here. Cannot recommend it enough! We had booked the cheapest double room but were upgraded with no extra charge to a luxury room which was enormous. It was beautiful, lovely decor, massive sleigh bed, luxury bathroom, sofa, table and chairs, plasma TV, enormous patio doors to own terrace, thick curtains, wood floors. Really a lovely room, we wanted to move in! The staff were very friendly, and the adjoining cafe bar is nice. As well as the room, we also had breakfast and a 3 course evening meal, all for 60 euros in total! For room, and 2 meals!! It is right opposite the train station so very convenient. Highly recommend this hotel.

Review 103:The flexibility of the personnel.

Review 104:Noise from street and railway.

Review 105:Very friendly helpful staff. Good bike parking in yard.

Review 106:the hospitality

Review 107:Good hotel for the price, would use again if travelling to almaar

Review 108:very small room

Review 109:The owner of the hotel is a very lovely guy. He helped us a lot

Review 110:Not applicable

Review 111:We liked the position so close to the station for arriving and departing. It was no great walk to the town centre.
