Reviews for Hotel Ravel

Review 1:Just be aware that there is no lift and the stairs are quite steep. However this was clear on the website so no surprise.

Review 2:Simple, slightly quirky with everything you need. Comfortable bed, hot shower, good breakfast, friendly staff (owner?). Conveniently located - it took me under 10 minutes to walk to the station and perfect for getting to Amsterdam/airport painlessly.

Review 3:- I had a one person room and it was quite small - My room was next to the stairs and that was quite loud in the mornings.

Review 4:- I forgot my charger and I was informed right after the room was cleaned. - The room was clean and well maintained - The bathroom was nice and modern with a rain shower

Review 5:Not a major concern but had to find street parking in the area which was more difficult to find in the daytime.

Review 6:Helpful staff. Nice location. Short walk to downtown area. Pretty breakfast location. Breakfast was more limited in selection but price was also significantly lower than other hotels in The Netherlands.

Review 7:Could do with being able to open the bathroom window!

Review 8:I can't speak more highly of our stay - everything was lovely. Didn't know what to expect for the price - but I have to say this was a lovely little hotel.

Review 9:It is not worthy at all . no proper toiletry towels, no drinking water even no glasses for water. no hair dryer...i dint like at all.

Review 10:nothing liked except the location.

Review 11:Hotel had no restaurant, no airco in the rooms. The guy at the frontdesk was not really helpful. When I can in I smelled sigarettesmoke.

Review 12:Breakfast was ok.

Review 13:Parking- it doesn't have it unless you're lucky enough to find aspace close by_ after 14 hours travelling the last thing I needed was agame of hunt the parking space

Review 14:The room was lovely but the shower / bath desperately needs ashower curtain of some kind· there was a lake on getting out of theshower on the floor

Review 15:When I arrived late Sunday evening, I was met with a very strong smoking smell. No smoke in the room, but in the reception area. Was gone the day after. Also room was freezing cold first night - heater was cold, but the heater started up Monday. Nice thereafter.

Review 16:Friendly staff, very good wifi, relaxed and easy athmosphere

Review 17:I find the room cold! The heating was switched off! In the morning I got up freezing because the heating was off again! The staff ignored me and she was enable to solve the problem and support the client! I never visit again this hotel!

Review 18:Paltry breakfast & unmodernised rooms distinctly 'tired'. Having stayed on many occasions and expressed genuine/great enthusiasm for improved rooms, the disappointment in not being allocated one was sufficient to move me elsewhere in future.

Review 19:Location suited me.

Review 20:Train is expensive in to Amsterdam. Bike hire at the hotel is on the expensive side. We didnt have breakfast so cant comment on this

Review 21:lovely clean room Free wifi. Location wasnt too far from train station to Amsterdam so it meant we could stay out of the centre but have easy access.

Review 22:The room was a little cold

Review 23:Well located. Great breakfast. Big room with a bath in the bathroom which was great!

Review 24:the road passing by

Review 25:Very sympatic owner

Review 26:We were literally in and out again but the desk staff was very friendly.

Review 27:Good, quite basic but clean hotel, looks more like 2star for me. Comfortable bed.

Review 28:no wifi at all and when i complained they say they know the problem but...they did not solve it..

Review 29:nice building nice location

Review 30:The price was the dubbel comparing the same period last year !

Review 31:The wi if was very slow.

Review 32:The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 33:No tea or coffee making in room. Poor wifi. Not much choice for breakfast.

Review 34:Good Location to town and train station. Clean and comfortable.

Review 35:stairs are very steep to the higher rooms

Review 36:location for Hilersum - walk to the station

Review 37:Single room a bit small, some noise from hallway and stairs.

Review 38:Good value for money.

Review 39:Good clean & easy hotel

Review 40:WiFi was a bit slow

Review 41:Fair price for clean room and decent facilities. Close to the city centre and Media Park

Review 42:The single room is to small. To expensive for what is it. Poor breakfast.

Review 43:The heating didn't work . The second bed was a couch . Old interior .

Review 44:Very light breakfast for cost

Review 45:Location was perfect Large room Very good shower/water pressure Clean room Bright room/large window

Review 46:Windows could not open, dated interior.

Review 47:Very good service and a good price

Review 48:WiFi

Review 49:Friendliness of staff, always hoping to help.

Review 50:Walking distance from Hilversum Town Centre and transport made this an ideal place to stay.

Review 51:Free parking and a short walk into town center

Review 52:It was ok

Review 53:The location of the town

Review 54:Good value for money in homely surroundings.

Review 55:The only disappointment was the WiFi. It took a couple hours just to get on it; one has to log in through a 3rd party site. But even once I was on there were heaps of dropped connections, down times, and it was pokey slow much of the time so I wasted a lot of time. With decent WiFi I would stay here again

Review 56:I stayed two nights at Ravel Hotel, situated in a lovely residential district of Hilversum, a less than 10 minute walk from the train station. My room was fine, clean, quiet, lots of natural light, well-appointed. .

Review 57:breakfast was adequate only for the price and it was definitely chilly

Review 58:The room was a good size and the facilities in the room modern and clean e.g. shower etc.

Review 59:Very noisy (heard every conversation in the room next to mine) Shower does not have a curtain or door which resulted in a wet bathroom floor everytime you use the shower.

Review 60:Beautiful room Good location Friendly staff

Review 61:There is no hot water at night ! Stairs not designed for guests with big and heavy luggage.

Review 62:Very nice guy in the reception - he helped us find the best way to spend last day of our vacations. Nice location in Hilversum. No problem with free parking on the street.

Review 63:Train cost Euro 11 return to Amsterdam Central.

Review 64:Very clean comfortable hotel in a pleasant small town. Owners very friendly. Plenty of free parking on street behind hotel.

Review 65:The staff did not show much concern about guest satisfaction. Few of them were real friendly. Most of rooms are not equipped with refregirators. Amount of breakfast food was limited with limited variants. No elevators with a steep andnarrow staircase. Rooms need renewal.

Review 66:The city is quiet and adorable. There is no much need for public transportation as most of services are located in the city center.

Review 67:Our room was towards the street so that you could hear the street noise. For older people the stairways are maybe a problem.

Review 68:Our Room was new renovated in a nice design and very hygienic. Only 5 minutes by feet to the train station and to the center. A good alternative for Amsterdam Travelers if the hotels in Amsterdam are booked out or too expensive.

Review 69:No lift and steep stairs (typical Dutch) with rooms on first and second floor (ground floor for reception & breakfast). Basic room amenities - no coffee machine, no fridge & minibar, just plain beds and TV. Worn out floor carpeting and other signs of aging.

Review 70:Small, relatively well positioned hotel, with two streets nearby where you can park your car for free. Modern, well equipped bathroom (shower only). Decent value for money if you take one of promotional offers.

Review 71:If you like creepy and dirty with a side of stubborn arrogance, then by all means, book at Hotel Ravel. If you are looking for a CLEAN, nice place to rest, then look for a room elsewhere. Don’t be fooled by their descriptions and misleading photos from well-planned angles, that don’t show you the dirty carpets, scuffed walls, missing ligh tbulbs and disgusting stains on the chairs. We had a “quaint” room with a romantic view of the garbage bins. The heating was turned off in the middle of a cold night and no one was around to fix this until 7 am. Be aware that you will be on your own overnight with no house staff, so be sure to get fire and rescue emergency numbers, just in case… Their cancellation policy is ambiguous, so plan on being cheated. When you tell them that you will check out ahead of time, suddenly their quoted rate increases. Hotel Ravel should barely have 1 star, definitely not 3. Stay away from this hotel and know that there are other 4 star hotels in Hilversum that are actually the same price or even cheaper, cleaner, and courteously staffed 24 hours.

Review 72:We did not like anything about Hotel Ravel Hell. The minute we checked in, I was looking for an alternate place. I would recommend Hilversum, as long as you don't stay at Hotel Ravel.

Review 73:Breakfast ok but not enough variation!!for one night stay ok but if you stay longer its all the time same

Review 74:rooms very quiet!well positioned (close railroad station)

Review 75:Room was a bit small. Already charged Credit card before I arrived, would prefer to pay cash when I arrived...was guaranteed on my card.

Review 76:Was a nice hotel, easy to find. Staff friendly. Clean. Free Wi-Fi.

Review 77:A very pleasant small hotel on the edge of central Hilversum. It is justa few minutes to walk to the main shopping area where there is a goodchoice of restaurants. The rooms all appear to be different but well equipped and maintained. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The little breakfast room is filled with morning light and overlooks a small garden pond. Parking is possible in the surrounding streets. Also an easy walk through an attractive residential district to Hilversum Town Hall, an impressive piece of 1920's architecture that should not be missed.

Review 78:This hotel was extremely good considering the modest price paid.Excellent value for money. As a regular to Hilversum, my preferencegoing forward is to stay here going forward. Phil (uk)

Review 79:Good and polite hotel staff. Very well maintained and clean, very honestprice and very organized. You can really sense that they care about theguest, unlike other experiences I had. Close to the train station.

Review 80:This is a hidden gem with a fantastic clean and contemporary feel andall the extras you would expect from the larger chain hotels at a muchbetter price! Staff were friendly and very helpful will definitelystay again!

Review 83:Small two covers in a double room. :))

Review 84:Nice hotel in a small town couple tens of kilometers from Amsterdam. Itlooks very cosy, the room was quite big, comfortable with moderninterior. The breakfast was also good, we liked nuts. :)) The hotel havenice veranda for breakfast with a nice over the garden. The personal wasonly a silent man, no complaints. Overall, we like the hotel very much.

Review 85:I booked a no smoking room. The room did not smell of smoke but it just smelt dirty. The 1st thing I did was to buy an air freshner which I left there as a gift. The breakfast was basic.I think the sliced bread was still wet as it had obviously been taken out of the freezer but not early enough. In summary - NEVER AGAIN

Review 86:nOTHING
