Reviews for Hotel Anel

Review 1:Well, low acustic isolation...a group was making big noise in the corridor and it sounded as if they were in my room.

Review 2:Located in Center and easy to find. A very nice lobby with nice rooms. Good breakfast with a huge variety of cheese.

Review 3:For a 5star hotel, details make the difference, such as there were no double beds, only 2 smalls side by side! Also, there was dust under the bed and not a great quality of bath products.

Review 4:Great hotel, near to the city center. Great facilities, big rooms, great and friendly staff! My request for roses in the bedroom was perfomed exceptionally to surpsrise my girlfrined!!!

Review 5:Some staff was not friendly at all. Me and my wife booked double bed , as a fact there were 2 beds put together which was not comfortable to sleep. Some food (supposed to be hot or at least warm) on the breakfast was cold

Review 6:Good location, nice rooms, reasonable price

Review 7:Breakfast room has no windows,They have a great roof top restaurant to use instead.

Review 8:superb service from every member of staff .Great breakfast and location is just on the edge of everywhere .

Review 9:My room was at the front of the hotel facing on to a dual carriageway. I was aware of the traffic noise though another of our party, a floor higher up, didn't notice it.

Review 10:The hotel offers an amazing breakfast spread, we estimated the tables ran for over ten metres round the room. Very wide range of foods on offer, good selection of Bulgarian dishes plus more Western things. Well appointed clean rooms and very friendly staff

Review 11:Our phone wasn't working in our room and when I asked reception to see if they could fix it they ignored me. Then on the day we left the phone was back working we stayed for 2 nights 3 days.

Review 12:The decor of the hotel was lovely and the rooms were very spacious.

Review 13:Everything at this hotel is great! Next time in Sofia we'll book again! Fantastic service from the hotel's booking office. The employee there did everything she could to solve our problem concerning an extra night.

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:It might not be the standard you get at an international five star hotel but we thought It had a lot of character, like staying in an art gallery. We enjoyed staying here very much and for us the price was so low. You really get a lot for the money. The spa was nice and the breakfast was good!

Review 16:Bit far from the centre, close to shopping mall though. Services need some improvement to be a real 5*. For example, I'd like to enjoy the pool without folks from the city doing water aerobics; I'd like to taste wine before the whole bottle is put on the table; etc.

Review 17:Hotel is an art gallery!

Review 18:Few shops and restaurants in the district but taxi was very cheap.

Review 19:The room, both computer and smart TV. Breakfast. The pool. we spent several ours there. Ten minutes away with taxi in Radisson Hotel was a very good restaurant.

Review 20:there is a casino at the button floor of the hotel and I guess through the vents the smoke gets in the rooms, I could not sleep, had to open the window all night and even my clothes smell like smoke.

Review 21:very clean, spacious room, great bathroom, very comfortable mattress and pillows, quite area, great breakfast.

Review 22:It wasn't bad, just a little short in certain areas. Very odd layout with one lift only per set of room locations. Area outside ok in day but not so good at night. Breakfast decent but got food a little cold.

Review 23:Quirky hotel. Huge and comfortable room. Quiet room 311. Well located.

Review 24:Genuinely cannot think of anything we'd change.

Review 25:Excellent staff, perfectly clean, comfortable, quiet, homely. Lovely breakfast. The bed semed about the size of a football pitch, and was very comfortable. The lovely surprise of finding we had been given a very large apartment instead of the double room we had booked, and for the same price! Having stayed in several hotels in Sofia, in our experience, this is easily one of the best. This wasn't our first stay, so we can vouch for the consistently good value and service. We will happily be back.

Review 26:Nothing bad

Review 27:Everything was perfect. My booking was made for a double bed room, they finally offered me an excellent suite at no extra cost. The free parking in a closed area of the hotel was very important. Internet access was very good.

Review 28:No view whatsoever from our room, tiny balcony. The hydromassage function didn't work on our bathtub.

Review 29:Great location, 10 minutes' walk to center. Very ample rooms. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 30:If you arrive in the evening and are going our don't expect to be wearing an ironed shirt. The hotel will not give you an iron as you have to pay 4 Euros to get a short ironed as part of their service which is only open from 8-6. So take some t-shirts. Very poor for a 5* hotel

Review 31:It was great. Loved the room, free breakfast and the spa and casino

Review 32:If only there was a spectacular view, but we did have a balcony!

Review 33:Hotel Anel was a fabulous stay in the heart of Sofia. The staff was always willing to help and provide extra assistance any way they could. I would certainly stay here again.

Review 34:No view of the city

Review 35:Everything was excellent. Nice location, big and clean room. Great breakfast, amazing spa, pool, gym, wi-fi. Kind staff, great service.

Review 36:Ordered breakfast from room service menu but didn't get food we ordered. This happened both mornings so a little disappointed.

Review 37:Good quality food from room service menu.

Review 38:At arrival the room was clean but however, the daily cleaning needs improvement.

Review 39:great location! the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was excellent, the beauty salon was amazing; there were very professional hair dressers.

Review 40:Our room stank of smoke. It wasn't as close to the very centre of the city as I was led to believe. I find it surprising that this is a 5 star hotel.

Review 41:Decent sized bedroom and very good shower with all facilities needed in the room. The art everywhere is fun.

Review 42:The spa is not well laid out or organised, and is small and cheap looking. The staff in general are cold and unfriendly and the room service food was quite poor.

Review 43:The room was well laid out, very spacious with a large comfy bed and the room cleaning service was very well done.

Review 44:I am really pleased with my stay. Fantastic room, very friendly people. I should say the hotel was a didcovery for me and I would recommend it to anybody who wantd to discover the beautiful town of Sofia

Review 45:Reception is understaffed at anything but very light traffic, so extensive waiting at check-in and -out. Located a bit further away from main attractions than what I expected

Review 46:A good hotel, nothing out of the ordinary, but reasonably well maintained. Concierge and restaurant/bar staff were very helpful. Good value for money

Review 47:The walk back from the main tourist area is 20 mins along a busy street through a rundown area. Casino is part of hotel - but this doesn't detract from the hotel

Review 48:Comfortable and large rooms. Good restaurant. Very good local restaurant around the corner called Avens - look for the large sign saying "Coffee". Full of unusual paintings (mainly abstract) and modern sculptures

Review 49:The location is on theory in the city center but it is still 10-15min walk to the pedestrian streets.

Review 50:A fantastic breakfast, also my suite was clean and cozy

Review 51:Food in a la cart restaurant is not so delicious as we expected in 5 star hotel. It wasn't tasty at all.

Review 52:Breakfast was very good - all recommends. We got upgraded room for free. Very nice and clean apartment.

Review 53:-

Review 54:The hotel is modern, the rooms are big and nice. The closed parking was free and the city center (walking street) is only 10 minute walk. The staff is helpful.

Review 55:Wifi was intermittent, they had an infrastructure problem - wifi didn't work from the night until we left the following afternoon.

Review 56:Got a free upgrade to a business suite - great! Great dinner (paid) Great breakfast (included) Very hepful staff. Great spa facilities (paid) They have freen parking inside..

Review 57:the spa personnel are a little bit lazy, trying to shorten the services, like massage, they are good masseurs but they try to provide the service as soon as possible and they don't let you relax that way

Review 58:the location was good, the spa was good, the rooms are excellent, the stuff at the reception was good,

Review 59:the breakfast

Review 60:the staffs are friendly. the room is clean and quite. the hotel is between a mall and the old town, it's very convenient to go to the attractions or go shopping.

Review 61:Directions to facilities (breakfast room, restaurant) could be more clearly indicated.

Review 62:Very nice spacious penthouse room with terrace. Great value for money.

Review 63:Having to leave

Review 64:The room was excellent and a laptop was provided in the room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent buffet breakfast. Hotel is a fusion of modern art and chic.

Review 65:Should be rated as a 4 star hotel and not 5 star , the quality of breakfast was not that good using plastic paper covers for pastries and others Also no tissues supplied in the rooms The swimming pool was very dark and smells strongly of Chlore gas which makes eyes burning Hotel lobby and bar has depressing ambience with smell of old furniture Hotel entrance not that of 5 star standard No electrical adaptors available and on has to buy his own which is difficult when you check in at night

Review 66:The rooms were clean comfortable with large nice bed and good AC Friendly helpful staff at reception Room service was very good

Review 67:structure is old and it shows. pictures on the website are not accurate.

Review 68:Relatively low cost for a five star hotel (but better spend a bit more for a more modern hotel)

Review 69:a small disadvantage was the double bed, which in reality were 2 single bed

Review 70:We were very pleased with everything. We would like to stay again in this hotel !!!!

Review 71:Complex layout with several lifts that only accessed a few rooms on each level Too much modern art everywhere.

Review 72:Good size swimming pool Large quiet room

Review 73:Was not able to get english breakfast tea or indeed any black tea in the room without paying extra. Very annoying especially as we really didn't want the variety of sweet herbal teas provided. In a hotel of this rank it seemed very strange and petty. Staff were very pleasant but not actually very helpful: suggested walking into the centre along the busy and hot main road: we went to the back of the block and walked in along a leafy pedestrian street. Over the top interior decor just weird. Hard to get coffee and tea at breakfast.

Review 74:comfort of bed

Review 75:The hotel was great!!! Staff were really helpful and friendly and I was really surprised i was offered an upgrade to the presidential apartment. It was a great experience. I would definitely stay there again and also would recommend to everyone. The location is also really good very central close to nice restaurants and night clubs.

Review 76:Bathroom cleanliness could be better.

Review 77:Very nice rooms, exquisitely furnished, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast. Every room has its peace and quiet, air conditioning is excellent.

Review 78:Nothing.

Review 79:The best hotel in Sofia. Fantastic art in the rooms, lobby, restaurant, etc. Personal very frienly and helpful, especially Jorge. Free parking. Close to the center.

Review 80:We got upgraded to an apartment which was great! However we did not have the time to actually enjoy this luxury as we had to leave early the next day. The hotel is very convenient, close to the metro that brings you to the airport, and its close the one of the biggest shopping mall in Sofia.

Review 81:Went for a cappucino in the lounge and found the pric of the coffee to be exorbident in price, especially for Bulgaria where there is no short supply of coffee serving places and the normal price is at most, half of the price of Anel's coffee. It was nothing special. When I gasped at the price, the waiter said it was a 5* hotel. It might be listed as 5* because of the amenities, but it would only be a 4* in Switzerland.... Everything seemed to be in good working order even tho some things were a bit dated, like the old fashion wall mounted hair dryer that blows hot air but not like a hand held, modern hair dryer.

Review 82:We could park the rental car in a courtyard and take a taxi a short distance to well rated restaurants. Even tho the room was above a busy street, the room was relatively quiet. I liked that the bathroom was totally separated from the sleeping room. The WiFi worked well as well as the air conditioning.

Review 83:Don't forget a shower cap if you want to use the pool..

Review 84:Everything! Road a little noisy but couldn't hear it from the room. Breakfast was outstanding.

Review 85:TAM out of order so a bit of a long treck in the heat to find one in the shopping mall. Unable to have a good swim in the morning as water workout class going on.

Review 86:The rooms were huge with massive beds, the staff friendly and helpful and the food and drink delicious, if a bit pricey.

Review 87:The jacuzzi was disgustingly dirty and pool steps were broken, when we complained about it the staff seems very disinterested and didn't care. The pool attendant was very keen to sell you a swimming cap but didn't offer you a locker key or towel, you had to ask once you realised they weren't in the changing room. Breakfast was very clear everything had been sat out a long time. Everything was lukewarm and very greasy. Th cold stuff was ok, and most of the bread was dry from sitting out.

Review 88:Very close to Vitosha bulevard, only 5 mins walk. Very large room and lovely bathroom.

Review 89:Cannot complain of anything

Review 90:Simply the best hotel in Sofia...have stayed previously at the Sheraton, Kempinski and Grand Hotel Sofia...all cannot even come close to what ANEL has to offer..... facilities are great...the executive rooms and the apartments are both excellent...all amenities are perfect.... in terms of price again ANEL is way better than Grand Hotel than Sheraton as well as Kempinski...I highly recommend that no matter business or leisure to stay at the ANEL...there is no better 5* hotel in Sofia,

Review 91:On our last day we decided to check out the pool but was told we had to buy a swimming cap to wear which was 12 lev each. Lovely swimming facilities though, so worth the purchase!

Review 92:The food and service was amazing. Everything exceeded our expectations and really couldn't fault it!

Review 93:Air conditioning a bit feeble and hotel is about 250 metres further along from the area you want to be in

Review 94:Huge bedrooms, great breakfast buffet and nice pool

Review 95:The food in the restaurant is a disaster. The lady chef soaks everything in loads of salt and oil. Food is too salty to eat. The waiters, however, made up for it with their friendly attitude. The rooms on the first floor are also unbearably noisy, so sleep is not a viable option. Noise form the corridor, above - everywhere. All night.

Review 96:This is a beautiful hotel and the staff are friendly and quick to respond when needed. The restaurant waiters are great

Review 97:Nothing to talk about.

Review 98:Stayed only one night. Personal was wary friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. WiFi very good. As well the sattv. Close to center and mall. All those guys who write that the location is not ok and seems dangerous, actually only the Vitosha Blvd is illuminated well. All other streets are pretty dark. So maybe darkness makes it to seem dangerous. I didn't feel so.

Review 99:The location, the staff is very helpful assisted me with organizing my trip and booked some local tours and gave me useful tips. the room is spacious with a great bed. breakfast is goo and wifi is fast. excellent hotel. would stay again definitely

Review 100:Difficult to find as no clear hotel sign. No cigarettes for sale and porter not willing to cross the road to nearby shop. So had to get dressed and buy them myself at 04.00 in morning.

Review 101:Wonderful hotel, the art, the interior design, location.

Review 102:pool is not available for guests due to classes - there is no schedule posted pool staff is unfriendly

Review 103:great location low cost outstanding breakfast

Review 104:The Wifi is unstable, very often it disappears for short periods. It is not possible to get an iron from the hotel. If you have a wrinkled cloth - the only option is to use the hotel laundry services which are rather expensive

Review 105:This is an excellent hotel! It's beautifuly decorated with art items, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and elegantly designed, the staff is friendly and efficient and hotel facilities are very good. Highly recommended.

Review 106:Not quite central. I give the place 10 out of 10 as just great value for the money even though the restaurant wine list was truly stupid with a bottle of the cheapest red or white wine costing twice the price of the excellent meal.

Review 107:Facilities were superb for the price. The room was great, and the spa bath was the best of any hotel that I have stayed at. The mini bar prices were reasonable, The art ( not to everyone's taste) was impressive. We didn't use the sauna or fitness but it looked good. The staff were friendly and efficient, The restaurant had very good food but it had a really stupid wine menu (see what I didn't like)

Review 108:Not all facilities were available. Additional cost were charged which was surprising. One morning the shower wasn't working. The coffee/tea was not replaced either of the mornings and the cups and spoons were left dirty!

Review 109:The room was huge, the bed as well! Loved it!

Review 110:This is not 5 stars hotel , bad breakfast , uncomfortable bed at all , small lobby , no complimentary water , AC very vert very bad , non professional staff , small left , old style , no iron in the rooms and they didn't provide one

Transfer from and to the airport and the draiver was nice guy

Review 112:Facilities: The hotel has a pool and a gym, but the hot tub is really small, for two people only and it didn't work so well. also, the location has several saunas but they ask for extra pay to use them. why not include sauna price in the price of the hotel? also, each room has seperate Wifi but it was weak

Review 113:Amazing hotel in a fantastic location. staff is exceptionally nice and helped us with restaurants and what to do in the city. the room was huge, the breakfast was amazing and overall if you are visiting Sofia you should do it in this hotel

Review 114:Marble bathroom is... pretentious. Marble is a material that requires mastery to be shaped and then maintained. It definitely needs better maintenance here. Also, I noticed some dampness between the bathtub and the wall.

Review 115:Very good location, just 2-3 minutes from metro (direct metro line to airport). Nice, well decorated and big (!) room. Even with a big bed there was a lot of space. Hotel restaurant is good, they offer very tasty dishes. Breakfast is good as well. Minibar is affordable.

Review 116:Breakfast was amazing - loads of food of all types. Staff were friendly and helpful - the driver came to the bus station with us to help us buy our bus tickets! The car service was cheaper than a taxi and far nicer. It's 1 min walk from the metro to the airport (NEW - ignore the old info in guide books!). Town centre is 5 mins walk away. Don't be put off by the lack of ambiance of the main street - go one street back and it's cafes and shops in a little cobbled tree-lined street. Nice pool. Good cheap massage. Nice gym.

Review 117:We got this hotel on an offer for 65 euro for 1 night for 2 people and it was sooooo worth it! It was amazing the room was massive and everything was clean, we may have gotten lucky with the room as i suspect it may have been a dulex bedroom or a suite as it had a small kitchen. Even a standard double id imagine is great value for 65 euro! Highly reccomend it!

Review 118:Problems with noise. The first room I had made a humming noise after everything had been switched off. I used ear plugs but was then woken at 7 am by loud disco music directly below me, which I found came from the fitness centre on the first floor immediately below me (and I had asked for a quiet room high up when I made the reservation). The second room I had on the fourth floor was immediately below the air conditioning units on the roof.

Review 119:Free parking. Free business centre. The art gallery.

Review 120:- swimming cap is required on the swimming pool!, - shower cabin was leaking - confusing information in the elevators

Review 121:- breakfast, - large room even with small balcony,

Review 122:I've seen lots of 3 stars hotels cleaner than this one. This is the main problem of it. Mold around the the bath, dust on the floor, yellow stains in bathroom, dodgy wiring at the windows etc. I stayed at this hotel 5 times now, but probably I won't return.

Review 123:Good location. Free parking available.

Review 124:The only thing I didn't like that at the check in the girl said we need to upgrade as thebed in thedouble room is not large enough to fit child and us but it turned out that the bed is really large and comfortable.

Review 125:Room, bed, bathroom, the room had an US electric outlet. The breakfast was amezing. Pool was great

Review 126:- The housekeeping did not change towels, bed sheets, did not fill in the coffee/tea in the room, did not clean glasses... I had to ask for that. This is just one day. The following day the housekeeping was great.... - there is free parking but when you get to the hotel there is no one outside to guide you with that... not acceptable for a 5 stars - the rooms are not soundproofed.... you could hear everything from the room above and next door....

Review 127:excellent price / quality.... good room, very spacious, good breakfast.... good facilities -

Review 128:I have no nothing to say

Review 129:The hotel is like museum ,status and paints are everywhere, as in the lobby, in the restaurants, in the corridors in the rooms. The interior design is high level minimal perfect. Gym, swimming pool, massage are a complete fitness center. The breakfast very reach and very good quality. Personnel very polite. Comparison between price and 5* of the hotel is very positive for the customer. Very close to the center 10 min walking.

Review 130:The only thing we didn't like was the road/neighbourhood in close proximity at night. Found it a little uncomfortable walking around and we're two guys.

Review 131:Breakfast excellent. Everyone spoke English in customer facing roles through out the hotel. Lovely big room, super comfy bed. Had a Casino too but never used this. Good restaurant on top floor.

Review 132:I except for much more crime this hotel. Location is good, but in ugly place. The breakfast is not so tasty, sweeping pool doesn't work, all our requests in booking were ignored. The rooms not so cleans.

Review 133:There was my wife and I, but we got only one set of towels, soap, slippers, pillow... It looks like that we got one bad room even we reserved two bad. Luckily bad was wide enough.

Review 134:Everything was very good.

Review 135:Very strange to get breakfast like in 2-3 stars hotel, when it is positioned as 5. Things that were cooked were not tasty at all, bread was not fresh. On the other side it has a big variety of things like nuts, fruits, etc, which is very good. Juices and tea/coffee were very good.

Review 136:Location is in rather rundown area with no obvious local restaurants options if you want to eat out of the hotel. Hotel is over-decorated with modern art and sculpture.

Review 137:Friendly staff and good facilities

Review 138:RECEPTION AND OUTSIDE AREA A LITLLE OLD FASHION (NEED SOME CHANGES)

Review 139:VERY CLEAN AND NICE DECORATED ROOM BIUG SIZE BED AND ROOM BIG BATHROOM CLEAN NICE GYM AND SPA HAIRDREASER INSIDE HOTEL FACILITY FOR PARKING

Review 140:On one night the restaurant boss/owner ? and his friends were inconsiderate in smoking and playing cards in the restaurant while we were there. We told the waiter and he asked them to go which they did.

Review 141:Everything, especially Rumen's wonderful piano playing every night made the restaurant a MUST to not go anywhere else to eat. The staff were friendly, helpful and the food and drink excellent.
