Reviews for Station Lodge

Review 1:The SPA didn't have the desired heat at one afternoon, but the rest was totally nice :).

Review 2:Nice beds, which are made out of wood and a nice SPA outside. Very nice lounges and kitchen area. Rental of bikes and more available.

Review 3:The train tracks are about 15min away and trains could be heard during the night.

Review 4:It was nice a close to turoa ski field and also to some lovely places to eat. It was a welcoming and private little apartment

Review 5:Rooms were tiny, had arranged an extra child bed in booking.com - it did not eventuate due to error on whose part ? Room was big enough to fit a double bed, an overnight bag and that's about it so we had to squash in together.

Review 6:Location

Review 7:Lovely staff especially the lady at reception that night. Advised re going up the mountain as it was perfect weather. Lovely warm accommodation, very well appointed. Nothing too much trouble

Review 8:Best place overall to stay in Ohakune. Place is immaculate. Its comfortable and close to good eating places after skiing.Hosts are friendly and knowledgeable. Always enjoy staying here.

Review 9:The only issue we had was tv reception, due to the weather. It was a bit dodgy at times.

Review 10:Location was excellent, chalet was well equipped and had a drying room, which is very handy after a day at the snow. Beds were comfy, there is a private spa pool.

Review 11:The paid wifi was a bummer but hey, it was cheaper than most wifi in NZ, if i'm not wrong, it was $5 for 10GB, value-for-money to me in NZ.

Review 12:The facilities were great, the location convenient and the host was friendly. Our chalet was right by the train station but I didn't hear any train noises, even though I'm a light sleeper.

Review 13:The heaters in the room don't fire during the day and turn off early in the morning. Staff are friendly but often not at the reception. Finally, paid wifi? Really?

Review 14:The location was great and so were the facilities.

Review 15:Wasn't well staffed. No-one at reception to check in or ask questions when we arrived 15mins early. Also when checking out at 9.30am the main building was locked so couldn't get to reception and had to leave key by the back door.

Review 16:Modern, private, warm and very comfortable

Review 17:the doors being opened by the Key at all times is annoying as only one key is issued for a couple.

Review 18:good sized rooms, comfortable beds, good private faucilities and great leasure areas.

Review 19:Nothing major or bad, one thing would add to the comfort: a little table and 2 chairs in the apartments.

Review 20:It is the right spot to explore and start your adventure in the Tongariro National Park. Everyone at Station Lodge is friendly and helpful, making it even better.

Review 21:We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment at Station Lodge, and it was excellent value. We've been travelling continuously for over six months now, staying in a mixture of apartments, cottages, hostels, B&Bs, motels rac, and this is one of the best places we've stayed in. The apartment is well equipped, very comfortable and extremely clean. There are views of Mount Ruapehu from the front door. The staff are helpful and friendly. The wifi has to be paid for but is inexpensive with a huge megabyte allowance and works very well. This is an ideal place for exploring the National Park, we also used it as a base to go down to Pipiriki for a jet boat ride up the Whanganui Rover, an excellent trip. We would thoroughly recommend Station Lodge as a place to stay in this area.

Review 22:Room was dirty.Locks on doors did not work.Did not notify us of changing our accommodations and then tried to overcharge us.Filter in air cooler had never been cleaned

Review 23:Proximity to train tracks - muffled train noises as they passed at night

Review 24:Fairly new, very nice and tidy unit. Well appointed. Lovely view. Own spa pool.

Review 25:We had a car but would be a bit of a walk to town centre. But then being closer to town would mean no view.

Review 26:We stayed in the family suite which was basically a small house with full size kitchen and lounge. We had a gorgeous view of snow capped mountain from lounge room. Added bonus was hot tub in front yard. We only stayed one night on our way to Wellington but we were pleasantly surprised at amenities in town. It is in the older part of town which has a certain charm to it.

Review 27:Our double room was very small, a bit too small. Basically the room was the bed. We had 2 big luggage and the other one we managed to open on to a chair but the other luggage was off and on the bed all the time.

Review 28:Common facilities, including kitchen, patio and living room were all cozy, welcoming and clean. We did Tongarino Crossing so the location was ok for this. I'm not sure if Taupo would have been better location but we were happy about our selection. We had a car so it was easy to do groceries but without a car the distance wouldn't be that easy to reach.

Review 29:The only thing was that they didn't provide a small milk like most places do......if you couldn't use the bike to go get some from town (which still takes you 30 minutes at least) it would mean an hour walk their and back to get some, just for a cup of tea!

Review 30:I booked this as we were catching the train their so wouldn't have a car. Luckily they had free use of bikes so we could get into town and have a look as it's a half hour walk into town. Comfy bed, modern and comfortable, very clean! Would definitely stay again.

Review 31:Because the lodge was right next to the railway line eveytime a train passed it sounded as though it was going through the apartment.... It was very loud !

Review 32:Everything was great except when a train went past !

Review 33:The train passing by during the night very loud and shook the place like an earthquake. Right next to railway tracks.

Review 34:The spa pool (altho it was actually a bit too hot). The facilities, space and comfort of a home.

Review 35:The time taken to contact the shuttle and help us find an alternative tramp when weather denied us the Tongaririo crossing. Also, it was interesting and inspiring to hear the local passion and vision in establising the old coach road and other initiatives.

Review 36:no free wifi expensive for the tiny room extremely small room (if put your luggage in you can't walk or move, only option is to be on the bed) toilets not really clean and wasn't even high season.

Review 37:spa after snowboarding was good, although in high season might be small and never available good location really close to main bar and road up the mountain.

Review 38:No hanging space anywhere. The walls were very thin- It felt like the guests in the apartment next to ours were in our bedroom - and the trains do roar past on the railway line that is outside your front door. Take earplugs and you'll be fine

Review 39:It was a cute one bedroom apartment that was nicely decorated. Location was great to get to the strip of eateries, and the spa was great!

Review 40:Not enough toilets Drying room didn't get gear dry. Was left wide open in the morning. Spa hours are too restricting

Review 41:Lounges Kitchen Location Staff Really warm rooms and communal areas Nice to have fireplace in kitchen/lounge

Review 42:Thin walls. Nowhere to hang clothes (which is especially annoying for ski gear). Kitchen utensils could be better stocked.

Review 43:The rooms are tidy and modern. Plenty of space compared to other places of similar price. Big bathroom. Super close to Ohakune Junction.

Review 44:The beds were extremely hard and my partner and I found it very difficult to sleep. There were people right outside our window at 3am shouting which disrupted us even more.

Review 45:The location was great being so close to the junction and the mountain road. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of info booklets in the main hallway was good.

Review 46:The apartment is very close to the railway line, and noisy trains woke me up a few times in the night

Review 47:My one bedroom apartment was very comfortable and very good value for money

Review 48:The lodge is perfectly located, staff and guests were friendly, good facilities and a spa pool for a long soak after a day on the mountain. Couldn't ask for more!

Review 49:Station Lodge was wonderful after a day on the slopes. Sitting in the spa with a glass of champers looking up at the snow covered mountain. Awesome. The bungalow was clean, tidy and had all the facilities we needed.

Review 50:too close to railway station. a little noisy sometimes.

Review 51:Nice living room and kitchen. Bathroom and bedroom are clean and comfortable. Staff are nice and helpful. It was a wonderful experience. apartment有厨房和客厅,很漂亮整洁。我们有surprise到。地理位置也很方便,开车上山20分钟到雪场

Review 52:Booked a room based on internet search and viewing the room. But when arrived room was not the same as photo on the internet.

Review 53:Manager apologised and gave us a chalet to make up be mix up with room re incorrect photo image loaded into Booking.com Very appreciative of this service.

Review 54:Comfortable safe close to all I needed, facilities, outdoor activities, clean, comfortable, friendly

Review 55:Comfortable and clean.

Review 56:The room looked dirty. Bugs on the floor.

Review 57:Good location, bike rental, friendly host

Review 58:everything was simply perfect! And the bike trip... Unforgettable!

Review 59:Basic beds, squeaks a lot.

Review 60:The wooden interior of the hostel. Quite location

Review 61:The bed was not comfy. My back was sore the next morning.

Review 62:The kitchen and shower.

Review 63:Spa pool, kitchen facilities are excellent

Review 64:love the spa! the place is nice and cosy and homely and I love the upgrade in the kitchen / dining area

Review 65:The staff were incredibly helpful. I wasn't sure what to do and they offered suggestions for things in the area and helped me to book them.

Review 66:nothing

Review 94:everything,staff great,1st choice to stay in the area

Review 95:Nothing

Review 96:Everything

Review 97:Fantastic location to go out for dinner drinks, close to the mountain, beautiful views. Great spa!

Review 98:The kitchen would be congested with a large crowd, but people just have to share. It was a pity we could only stay 1 night.

Review 99:An Old world style building with character and comfort.

Review 100:Having to leave

Review 101:You can't beat a caring family business when it comes to hospitality and sharp local knowledge. We turned up around 2.30pm, checked in, hired their good quality bikes and were dropped at the start of the Old Coach trail by around 3pm. We completed the trail as the sun was setting and the landlady drove out to meet us to make sure we were okay. You don't get kindness like that at a faceless hotel. And you don't often get the chance to stay in a building with historic value. Best bits: Clued up family owners Descent bathroom Solid bikes Location next to train station

Review 102:Great location near the Tongariro National Park. Host gives good information and house is located right next to train station. Rooms are basic but good. Bathrooms clean. Kitchen and social living space excellent. You can even rent mountainbikes and other adventure equipment.

Review 103:Bathrooms need some minor repairs, fridge in kitchen smells bad, room is small.

Review 111:It was cold (no heating) and the room was tiny with insects.
