Reviews for Goldridge Resort

Review 1:The kitchen staff were rude when getting the buffet breakfast sniggering in front of us because we came in 20 minutes before they were about to close. toilets were yuck

Review 2:The lady at the front desk was helpful and lovely. room was great with everything we needed apart from the fridge wasn't working.

Review 3:No WiFi in the rooms, you have to be joking! No parking opposite your room, Park in a common car park, then walk up 2 levels.

Review 4:The view of the lake from the room

Review 5:At 8am thew cleaning staff came in and tried cleaning the room while we were sleeping , as i was sleeping on the floor due to the bed being very uncomfortable and they hit my head with the door... check out is 10am not 8am ...

Review 6:Nothing at all , hard beds and loud noises throughout , horrible place to stay

Review 7:The bed was to soft. The rooms were a bit dated.

Review 8:The bar and restaurant had a spectacular view of the lake and mountains. It was quiet and there was no noise at night. Shuttle service to town was nice. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good.

Review 9:Ours was a lake-view room and we enjoyed every bit of it. The room was nicely done and the staff was friendly. Good location if you have a car, otherwise a bit far from the city center.

Review 10:Beds were sagging in the middle, no carpark which was offered to me, had to go and get an extra towel as we were one short for all of us

Review 11:Clean rooms, nice view, all amenities worked

Review 12:the mattresses were very soft which made sleeping difficult, due to the time of year we couldn't swap rooms or beds. The hotel did provide a rollaway bed but it was similar mattress.

Review 13:The rooms were spacious and had a good view.

Review 14:We booked about 7 months in advance for a double bed room with a view over Queenstown. We also checked it over about twice over the phone before we arrived that everything we booked was correct and lined up and were assured that thee was no problem. Only to find out when we arrived that we were placed in the wrong room which didn't have a view for the same price and that everyone had checked in so we couldn't be moved. The receptionsit admitted to a mistake on their behalf but simply couldn't do anything about it now, we were very disappointed that instead of arriving to a Lakeview superior room which we booked, that we were sent to a studio behind a tennis court next to a family with a crying baby. As much as we didn't want to cause a fuss and we understood there was nothing to move to in the busy period, we were unsatisfied with the attitude and dismissal of our complaints. On our final night we managed to beg for a superior suite room and they 'magically' found one for us, however we had to check in and check out again in order to be moved. Overall Queenstown was lovely but this hotel/resort did not serve us on our relaxing getaway.

Review 15:We enjoyed the cleanliness, and sympathy of the staff for their mistakes.

Review 16:Bad smell in the room like damp cloths left in the room Loud banging from Neighboring rooms front doors slamming early in the AM. The doors could do with a soft close fitting on them

Review 17:Lovely view, Very comfy bed :-)

Review 18:Unfortunately our neighbors smoked out on their balcony constantly and the smell seeped into our room.

Review 19:The view from our balcony overlooking Lake Wakatipu was beautiful!

Review 20:No kitchen, no sky tv, the food at the restaurant was not particularly fresh..

Review 21:Pleasant place to be, nice friendly staff, comfortable room, close to town and lake, warm heater

Review 22:long staying could have better allocated rooms by being away from bus parking area no end room

Review 23:perfect views from window across the lake to snow capped hills

Review 24:Spa didn't work. Far from grocery shops if no car.

Review 25:Free shuttle into town center. Intercity bus passes this place on way to Queenstown bus stop. Great view of lake.

Review 26:Shower was faulty and the thing that held the shower onto the wall was floppy so showering was very difficult.

Review 27:Beautiful view from our room and loved the balcony

Review 28:A little pricy but it was Queenstown.4k outside town with a limited curtesy shuttle.

Review 29:Clean comfortable and great lake view.Good food in the restaurant.

Review 30:Room a bit dated. Not cleaned well, previous guest had left clothes in wardrobe. Disappointed with restaurant meal and the wait even though it was not overly busy.

Review 31:Lovely view, front of house staff excellent and friendly. Big room.

Review 32:The bed was too near to the door and the bed felt more like a twin than a queen-sized bed and it was too soft.

Review 33:The room was a comfortable size, with a dining table and a small kitchenette.

Review 34:Shower was very slow No microwave

Review 35:Great location great room Definitely worth the money Perfect location to Queenstown Free shuttle to and from city (needs to be booked) Room exactly as described

Review 36:There was a pump on the wall outside my room that cycled on and off. This caused a hum/vibration in the room which made it difficult to fall asleep.

Review 37:The view of the lake from the rooms was great. Breakfast was good and the view from the dining room was nice.

Review 38:Only down sides for me was that our bathroom only had a shaver powerpoint rather than a full voltage powerpoint. So I couldn't use the hair dryer in the bathroom, I could still use it in the mirror in the main room however. Also they provided two face towels or flannels which I assume we were meant to use as hand towels because they didn't provide those. Our lakeside room also meant that we could hear all the traffic coming up from the busy main road below but that can't be helped. It was still beautiful :)

Review 39:Stunning view of the Remarkables with a verandah or balcony. Very clean and nicely dressed simple rooms. Staff were very friendly including laundry staff who happily gave us more shampoo when we passed them outside the rooms. Bathrooms are a little outdated but they are still 10/10 for cleanliness. Plenty of carparking. Easy wavecard for entry into the room. Lots of green grass in front of our lakeside rooms!

Review 40:No bad experience but found on arrival that the motel was actually suburban and still some 4 kilometres from the inferred destination being the central hub of Queenstown. A downer for anyone travelling without own transport.

Review 41:The view from the room was very good, the tidiness was excellent and the staff first class. Well presented and cheery.

Review 42:The 1st day, we were there the Laundry facility near to our room was not working. The parking facility was also congested as we were having a big car

Review 43:Nice view and quiet

Review 44:Spectacular views over Lake Wakitapu. Evening meal in the restaurant was good and no problem catering for gluten-free. Nice to be out of the main town area.

Review 45:No Sky TV in room. The bed was very uncomfortable.

Review 46:Amazing view outside window. Staff really helpful and friendly. Really close to town. Reasonable prices.

Review 47:Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. View with breakfast lovely way to start the day. Courtesy van trip into town was great. Would stay here again. Thanks

Review 48:My tray from room service was left in my room and not cleared in the morning when room was serviced. Left over night with left over food still on it. Not nice

Review 49:Amazing location and views

Review 50:The receptionist was rude and didn't seem to be able too listen. We were charged $70 more on arrival and received a hard to understand explanation as to why, only one light worked in the bedroom, a wheel came off the bed, the shower went from burny hot to icy cold, limited wifi and no sky. To say we were disappointed is a under statement.

Review 51:The exterior was beautiful -was a shame the interior wasn't.

Review 52:The shower head kept flopping during our showers which meant either having to hold it during your shower or readjusting it each time it flopped. Annoying. A toaster and some plates and cutlery other than just the couple of cups and glasses provided would have been handy too.

Review 53:The staff were all, without fail, friendly, courteous and helpful

Review 54:Our room was unfortunately located next to a noisy fan. We notified the staff at reception about this and they said they would get maintenance to look at it.

Review 55:Great location - nice view from our room. Great onsite restaurant with very nice food and menu. we enjoyed the spa - and lovely staff.

Review 56:Well located for skiing the Remarkables.. ski bus pick up just in front. Staff could not be more accommodating and friendly and helpful; were lovely to my 2 boys !! Everything was very clean, comfortable and warm. Beautiful view of lake and Remarkables from resort. Free shuttle to and from town centre (resort not far from centre.) Very happy with our stay and would stay again. Great value for money !

Review 57:The view from our room was amazing and all of the staff went out of their way to help us. When their shuttle was broken they ordered us prepaid taxis or drove us themselves.

Review 58:A little traffic noise. Couldn't hear other guests though, which is a plus. Empty wine bottles and expired milk in mini fridge.

Review 59:Amazing views towards the Franktown side of the lake. Warm and sunny morning.

Review 60:No hot water in room 15. Hot Tap turned on to full but only luke warm water. Was told by staff they would tell owner and then never heard anything back.

Review 61:Location

Review 62:The hot/cold tap on our shower was terrible - It was either skin burning lava hot or ice cold, no warm water was available, this should probably be fixed, also the TV channel selection was quite poor for the price of the room.

Review 63:We liked the amount of space and the bed & pillows were very comfortable, the kitchen was great but I would like to suggest some bigger bowls to microwave food in. the ones provided were small and shallow.

Review 64:Distance from town. Layout of the rooms means you will always have to go either up or down a hill. Not good for elderly people or people with big bags and no car!

Review 65:The view

Review 66:The wifi was terrible in our room, we couldn't load up any websites. I think its because our room was pretty far away from the main reception. There was a lack of snacks, no room service/overnight menu and only a small selection in the vending machine

Review 67:The staff were extra friendly, the lovely lady on reception, the waiters in the restaurant and the cleaners. The hotel has a beautiful view of lakes and mountains. It is not located in queenstown centre, but the bus stop is across the road and it only takes 5-10 mins to get to the city, with regular buses every 20 mins. :) I would stay again

Review 68:Walls paper thin. Could hear people next door or below like they were sitting next to me. No wi fi in lobby areas. Given a card for wi fi which is ok but limiting for some. Service by restaurant manager average. Stood there talking to the people at the next table half the time i was eating my meal.

Review 69:Nice location a little way from town centre. Warm, cosy rooms. Nice spa. Good view. Pizza at restaurant really good.

Review 70:The décor in the rooms was slightly dated but the size of the rooms, facilities and fantastic views more than made up for it.

Review 71:Great views, lovely food and wine in the restaurant and very good service from the staff. Shuttle bus into town was very handy.

Review 72:I really didn't like that we booked through booking.com with messaging everywhere saying 'Pay Later' 'No deposit' etc etc and then they took a 'pre-authorisation' of $120 from my bank account, the staff we emailed were not helpful and just rude - Cassie I think. It shouldn't be advertised as book now pay later and having no deposit if you they going to deduct money from our account anyway. The rooms could be easily modernised to match the lake view but it was okay.

Review 73:Breakfast and bar staff were lovely, girls at reception were lovely.

Review 74:Having stayed with you a few times now, I find the staff to be really friendly and helpful. The food is awesome. A special heads up to the barman that was on duty Friday 4th Sept in the evening. Friendly and courteous and the pizza was great! The rooms are warm and the beds really comfortable. Really quiet location too. Will definitely be back!!

Review 75:The only thing that was a bit of hard work was carrying my ski gear back from the bus stop where the shuttle drops you off. However after the second day I discovered the short cut which was much easier. It only takes five minutes but a bit of a hill.

Review 76:The room was so comfortable and warm with a beautiful lake view that we loved coming back after skiing. The restaurant had great food and service also with a great lake view and balcony and the spa was fabulous I was in there every night. I could not praise the staff enough they were wonderful they even called us a cab and gave us a voucher when we missed our shuttle. The free shuttle is great and also a bus stop not far from the resort.

Review 77:Nothing to speak off.

Review 78:Central location for coach pickup, They allowed us to keep our car there for the day while we were on tour, Resturant was a bonus, food was good.

Review 79:didnt really resemble the advertised room, or view. Overall, nothing particularly special, not worth the extra money and effort put into transport because of its location

Review 80:Free wifi was great but 1gb isnt a lot, continental breakfast was basicbut nice, felt it was quite expensive for what it was though.

Review 81:The view was excellent, nice and warm, room cleaned each day. Good valuefor money especially compared to other hotel prices around. Overall goodplace to stay with a few minor things to pick about

Review 82:Free shuttle bus into town. Special mention to Max who was working in the bar and restaurant on most days we stayed. Great work ethic and a pleasure to be around.

Review 83:Hotel room is very tired and needs updating. The lighting is very dulland the decor is drab. The bathroom particularly needs upgrading, theshower and basin are old. The staff were not helpful or particularlyfriendly.Their parting comment was "have good trip", no, howwas your stay etc. To add insult I was overcharged. After taking $120before the stay, $240 was taken out of my account on departure. When Irang I was told the refund would take up to a week. Not good enough. Asyet I have not had a refund. It almost amounts to fraud. Not happy. Willnot return.

Review 84:Our room had a very damp musty smell which we didn't like and we asked to get moved because of it but we're told thee was no alternative. We had to burn incense to try to get rid of the smell . It lasted the whole time we were there but improved slightly by airing and drying the room.

Review 85:Bit far to walk to town but there is a free shuttle bus that runs all day.

Review 86:Nice, friendly place to stay. Had a room with a good view over the lake which was great.

Review 87:The view was amazing, staff professional and friendly, we also utilized the free shuttle service to town (very handy). We had an enjoyable dinner in the restaurant as well.

Review 88:Room was a bit tired but okay for the price. Heater was quite old and could have been better.

Review 89:Staff were friendly and helpful. Free shuttle service made location (which was just outside Queenstown town) no problem. TV could take a USB hard drive so was handy to watch movies.

Review 90:It would be better if shuttle service for the afternoon is offered to the guests.

Review 91:Booked the room with balcony and the lakeview was beautiful! Staff was very helpful and friendly, my trip to Milford Sound was cancelled due to road condition and Rebecca helped me checked other tours to Wanaka and Earnslaw. The distance to town was not walk-able, but the hotel had shuttle services on an hourly basis in the morning and in the evening (afternoon sessions are not available). I took a 3 mins walk to the bus stop and caught a bus to town, which costed about 6 dollars. Free wifi was provided but not on an unlimited basis. If not mistaken, I think I was given 350mb for the 2 nights' stay.

Review 92:Wifi was limited to one device. Need to drive 5-10 mins out to town to get food. Queenstown activities are very weather dependent during winter.

Review 93:The view from the patio, good housekeeping.

Review 94:The wifi did not work well in our room or our friends room next door. May need to look into extending the wifi further out to accommodate all rooms appropriately.

Review 95:Nice location with lovely views from the room. Enjoyed the spa and sauna and the staff was very helpful

Review 96:The bedrooms smelt a bit musty and the bathrooms looked a little suspicious - and the shower/bath tap was fiddly - but otherwise all good.

Review 97:Really excellent staff, we were basically in and out of the hotel but they let us store our baggage for a majority of the time. The shuttle is excellent!

Review 98:The bedding wasnt comfortable. The blanket was scratchy and the green duvet on the top seemed old. The noise the fan makes when you put the bathroom light on is annoying. I wish there was at least a microwave in the room so we didnt have to get take aways or restaurant meals every night

Review 99:the friendly staff and the free shuttle. The private spas. The room view was excellent. The great room service.

Review 100:Very basic accommodation, thin walls could hear every movement of neighbours next door and above and frequent noise of everyone's extractor fans when they turn on bathroom light. Food in restaurant disappointing. Edible but not particularly tasty apart from the meat

Review 101:Good location and friendly staff. Cheaper price compared to some in same area

Review 102:The wifi was limited to 2 connections only, and we had to use both notebooks and mobiles at a certain time, but we could not use wifi on all of them. The speed and connection is not bad at all though.

Review 103:The resort has a great lake view and I would suggest guest to choose them if possible. It's really worthy.

Review 104:Bathroom is isolated and very cold to access. There is a heater in there but we dont want to leave it on all the time. Floor heating will be very nice addition.

Review 105:Very friendly staffs

Review 106:We thought that the offer was a deal not a budget priced option. We would hope that no international guests are placed in these rooms. Suggested room rate $80 to $85

Review 107:Nothing in particlular

Review 108:The resturant meal we had was take out quality food charged at restaurant prices. I recommend finding a nice restaurant in town it'll be much nicer and cheaper. Also this is a winter only place as the rooms don't have A/C only heaters.

Review 109:All the advertised facilities worked a treat and while the rooms were not brand new they had been well maintained and kept clean and very well presented

Review 110:Nothing.

Review 111:It had a bath. No street noise. DVD player and DVDs available free of charge. Free shuttle service to town (we didn't need it as had our own car.)

Review 112:When showering it was hard to get a constant flow of hot water. Cooking untensils of a poor standard. Had a football team booked on the rest of the floor combined with the thin walls kept us up half of the night.

Review 113:Staff were friendly and the location is not bad as it is between the town and the airport.

Review 114:It's not the Ritz but it didn't charge rates like the Ritz either so we couldn't have been more happy.

Review 115:Wonderful value for money, gorgeous view, excellent service! Loved it here. Would recommend or come back a jiffy.

Review 116:The rooms are tired and have little or no insulation between. The Fan heater in the room above was so loud it woke us up every time it switched on

Review 117:The restaurant is vey nice

Review 118:Comfortable and clean room, good location - halfway between Queenstown and Frankton (airport direction), offers a free downtown shuttle service for guests, spa/sauna area very relaxing after a day of skiing

Review 119:We are used to sleeping in a queen bed, we did not feel comfortable sleeping in a double bed.

Review 120:It was quite, and the quality of the sheets were good. The electric blanket was efficient and quick to heat the bed.

Review 121:Front disk girl could have been just a little more helpful when we were worried about the black ice on the top ramp down to car park

Review 122:the view from our room and the breakfast + the spar pool

Review 123:When got there door wide open so freezing in room not welcoming at all. Some sort of heating for water outside room so every time someone used water loud humming not easy to sleep. So if your careful what room you get should be good stay.

Review 124:staff were good facilities good

Review 125:Limited shuttle service. Not far from town centre but was a pain to drive due to traffic and limited parking space in town.

Review 126:Complimentary spa and sauna

Review 127:Bed too small Very slow wifi No extras for the cost. Such as no pen or paper in the room. Only one shampoo Poor selection of TV channels Poor parking

Review 128:Close to the airport

Review 129:Besides kettle to make coffee and tea, No in room appliances to heat food or make toast etc without car hire it makes it hard to get around to eat out for every meal and expensive.

Review 130:View was great, staff were excellent, staff cannot be faulted. The resort bus service was great and the guys that drove it were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 131:Couldn't get lunch/ coffee outside of bf/dinner hours. I know you are not a cafe but there were front of house staff around the bar all morning.

Review 132:Clean rooms, comfy bed, good price, had dinner at restaurant and it was very good. View was beautiful

Review 133:Parking space is enough for everyone and it's just a couple of minutes away from queenstown. Friendly staff and they will attend to all your needs and good service :)

Review 134:Free wifi was a bit rubbish, we changed the room last night to the higher blocks and it was much better there. But i still prefer rubbish wifi to nothing, but maybe something to look into.

Review 135:Great free shuttel service to the town, spa and the sauna!

Review 136:the woman at front desk uninterested and couldn't care less about what I needed from the place... my room to be ready so I could feed my baby after traveling. I ticked yes for a carpark why ask guests if they want this if the supply and demand ratio is uncompatable?

Review 137:house keeping do a fantastic job.
