Reviews for Grant Street Inn - Bloomington
Review 1:The ambiance of warmth, friendliness, efficiency and elegance cuts through all aspects of this inn-the staff including kitchen and housecleaning, the decor, the snacks and meals.
Review 2:Room was a little chilly, that was good while sleeping, however getting in the shower was chilly
Review 3:Location and the breakfast were awesome! Friendly Staff.
Review 4:We were unable to manage the temperature in our particular room, which meant we were too warm while sleeping.
Review 5:The staff was friendly and the breakfast was tasty. The rocking chairs on the porch were comfortable and relaxing.
Review 6:The room was lovely but had no air circulation. The windows wouldn't open and there was no screen door. I had to leave the door wide open to the outside
Review 7:Lovely historic place, excellent staff
Review 8:Someone else was given our room. Received another room but still another couple walked in on us. Had to return to the office twice. Once to make sure no one had a card that could open our door and our card no longer worked, so we had to return again to the office. So much for comfort. Sincerely, Jayne Robinson
Review 9:very clean and nice
Review 10:I go to Bloomington often. This was my first stay at The Grant Street Inn. I had a terrific experience. I wish I could take the bed home with me! The breakfast was very good. I hope to return soon.
Review 11:Room 22 right off lobby area was noisy in the morning. Also the TV didn't work.
Review 12:The breakfast, the porch, the homemade cookies, the location, the quietness of the surrounding area.
Review 13:I loved the king size suites much more than the suite in the main building. Still very nice though.
Review 14:Beautiful! Loved the king size suites. Breakfast was good. Very comfortable stay here.
Review 15:The person at the front desk two of the three days I was there was not friendly, welcoming or very helpful. The third day the person was very nice and helpful.
Review 16:Location, cleanliness, breakfast, amentities: gym, computer, books
Review 17:The staff was wonderfully helpful. Dining options are very close--walkable from the property--and directions were clear. Breakfast had many, many offerings.
Review 18:My flight was so delayed that I arrived one day later than I had planned. I could not warn the hotel. Nevertheless, they spontaneously offered to change my booking. In other words, they did not charge me for that first night. That was great. Further, the rooms are very nice and quiet, the staff is friendly, the breakfast buffet is great, the free wifi has a good connection... No complaints at all!
Review 19:The room was very quaint and comfy with antique furniture mixed in with more modern pieces. The room temperature was a little cool with no obvious way to adjust it but comfortable for sleeping.
Review 20:No fitted sheet on bed. Street noise due to room location (front of house).
Review 21:A lovely setting with campus and downtown easily walkable. Everything clean and well kept. Breakfast buffet and dining room were excellent. Great coffee.
Review 22:We were given the basement room--it felt like we were in the servants quarters and woken up very early by the creaking floor of the people above us. Very disappointing!
Review 23:Breakfast and location
Review 24:My parent had a room next to the front door. While the room itself was handsome, the location was inconvenient and disturbed their sleep as people entered and exited the building.
Review 25:The room was comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was very good and offered a wide range of foods. My parents and I enjoyed a cup of coffee with a cookie upon our arrival. Lovely place with a comfortable feel.
Review 26:The staff there was excellent and very easy to speak with. The location was great! It was within walking distance to both IU's campus as well as a small downtown area with restaurants and shops. The rooms were quaint and offered a cozy place to call home for the night. Overall great experience for us first-time B&B goers!
Review 27:Outstanding, an unexpected buffet breakfast!!! The chef knows his "stuff"! From toasted steel cut oatmeal, johnnycakes, date nut buttermilk muffins served with a toffee syrup, as well as a scrambled egg stratta! All made on site! Oh, and the staff and room, welcoming and warm!
Review 28:The pillows were marginal in comfort and the bed was lumpy and not comfortable at all. The hot water was not much more than very warm water.
Review 29:the hotel had friendly staff and was extremely clean. The decor was attractive. Breakfast is included and was delicious. It was a variety of quality food prepared well. The hotel has it's own private parking.
Review 30:Everything! Location, staff, type of room, breakfast where I had my first ever cumquats! The woman working that morning was very nice to talk to. Told us a lot about how the place was put together also! We are stopping there again on our next trip to Fl.. It was a perfect half way!
Review 31:We loved the cozy country charm, the spacious rooms and the attention to detail that this hotel has. Lots of little extras. Yummy breakfast served in the dining room. Freshly baked cookies and bowls of fruit and more available all day.Truly lovely experience. The staff was delightful! I would highly recommend!!
Review 32:The King sized bed mattress needed to be replaced. I felt like I slept in a hole. The mattress was very uncomfortable.
Review 33:Breakfast was great! The room overall was very clean and nice.
Review 34:When you enter the main entrance, there is a fragrance that is a misfit. To me, it smells like bounce dryer sheets. I am not a fan of those artificial scents, plus some folks are sensitive to them. I am not sure what it is. I meant to mention it to them, but forgot. My bed was a little more firm than I like it, but I still slept well.
Review 35:I love the feel of Grant Street Inn. The color schemes and decor lend themselves to a 'get-a'away.' I like that I can get tea and a cookie anytime want. Breakfast is pretty good and has been consistently good as this is my third visit. It is within walking distance of many wonderful restaurants and the downtown Bloomington. The staff is always helpful and willing to go the extra mile. I love the Grant Street Inn!
Review 36:The bed was too soft and I kept falling to the middle of the bed. I believe a new mattress would fix this problem.
Review 37:Breakfast was awesome. The staff was very friendly and the location was walking distance to dining and the university. This was my second stay here and the the first time in the Annex (they have multiple buildings). The annex is an old building with a lot of character. The bathroom door didn't fit right and it was hard to close. The floor was a bit tilted. (Didn't bother me but did my husband).
Review 38:Everything was great - nothing we disliked at all!
Review 39:This was so much better than any bed & breakfast we've ever experienced- it's larger than someone's home, but had all the comforts of home. We felt like we were in a quaint hotel - it was truly a treat! I'd love to spend more time there. We will be back!
Review 40:Can't think of anything I didn't like.
Review 41:Lovely atmosphere and room, excellent location close to campus and to restaurants and shops, park your car and walk everywhere, very good breakfast included in the cost. We will be staying here again for sure.
Review 42:The shower in our room only had tepid water. The sink had hot water, but shower was barely tepid.
Review 43:The room was very pretty and the bathroom was updated and spotless. The cookies and fruit in the afternoon was a good snack. Breakfast was very good, great variety.
Review 44:The rooms are spartan, but comfortable. There is so much to do in Bloomington that location is what matters. You don't get better for the price. This hotel also has actual breakfast, which is rare in the U.S.
Review 45:The only thing I really didn't like was the mattress was super squishy and sinky. I guess some people like that, but I always feel like a taco filling by morning. Oh, and the WiFi showed up as connected on my device, but it wasn't really. That might have just been me though and I didn't bother to ask for help, so who knows.
Review 46:Having grown up in an old house, I know how hard it can be to keep them updated and functional without destroying their charm, so I was very pleased with the Grant St. Inn. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was nice--and they kept re supplying the hot dishes even past 9 (breakfast ends at 9:30).
Review 47:I don't think I have anything to say here.
Review 48:Hot breakfast included each morning. And/or fruit & cereal, breads. Very nice and attentive server staff.
Review 49:The lighting in the room was very poor for reading and other activities when the sun was not shining. The internet connection in the Annex was very weak.
Review 50:The room, the courtesy and availability of the staff, the breakfasts, the location.
Review 51:Some of the new rooms across the street offer a mini refrigerator. This particular one did not. Would have been nice. I like access to one for tailgating purposes, and would love to have a microwave too. Other than that, the pillows could use some updating. The rest is great.
Review 52:Grant St. offers a wonderful home away from home. We have stayed there several times and thoroughly enjoy it. This time we stayed in the Main House....huge wrap around porch with rocking chairs that offered great people watching and relaxation for cocktails. Breakfasts are delicious! Extremely personable staff.
Review 53:Absolutely nothing, loved every bit!!
Review 54:This B&B was one of the most beautiful. Charming, clean, extremely friendly staff, totally comfy bed, great location and awesome breakfast chef!! We've stayed in numerous places in Bloomington as our son attends school there and we r from Mi. But this is now our #1 choice by far and I highly recommend this to anyone who want this one of a kind experience.
Review 55:Our room had an outside door and we were adjacent to 7th street. We could hear a lot of vehicle noise. Also, the room was a bit warm and we couldn't find a thermostat to adjust the temperature.
Review 56:It's a great location on a nice street, good off street parking, great breakfast, friendly staff, and nice ambiance. It's a B&B but doesn't feel too "precious" and small.
Review 57:I loved the privacy of my stay. I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before so I did not know what to expect. We had a lot of privacy and I liked how there were multiple little houses to prevent overcrowding. The work out facilities were nice as well. Breakfast was great. There were just enough different choices and the staff during breakfast time was very nice. Front desk staff was always friendly and ready to assist us. The Inn was walking distance from restaurants and other entertainment.
Review 58:Breakfast rather rich for those following a low fat diet
Review 59:Nicely appointed large room with sofa sleeper and bath Well lit buildings and Parking areas Rocking chairs on all porches Delicious teas, coffee, & freshly baked cookies all day Refrigerator in room Excellent hospitality
Review 60:Internet speed was slow. Some minor repairs are needed (painting).
Review 61:Location was amazing. Free parking. Breakfast was delicious. Great value. Room was very large. Friendly staff. Easy check-in/check-out process. Safety with card swipes.
Review 62:Our room was great. The only complaint I would have is there needs to be a step stool to get into the bed. Too high for this 4 ft 11 inch lady. Everything else was great. Loved the outdoor veranda.
Review 63:I loved the comforter on the bed in the property across the street...I want one!!
Review 64:I didn't like showering with no hot water.
Review 65:I liked how it was very clean.
Review 66:There was nothing we did not like

Review 68:Noise outside, no crib for my baby, and breakfast has little choices.
Review 69:Staff is very nice and friendly

Review 71:Thank you for being so welcoming...from the front desk to the breakfast staff.
Review 72:wish there were 2 desks for working in the room
Review 73:atmosphere and location and welcoming breakfast and afternoon tea
Review 74:Too much light came into ours through an uncovered transom, etc.
Review 75:Quite, immaculate, lots of amenities, lovely breakfast!
Review 76:Breakfast was great...
Review 77:Check in staff could have been friendlier.
Review 78:Room was very spacious and comfy.
Review 79:Thought we were getting a bed and breakfast. Turned out to be a multi-buiding hotel with a buffet breakfast.
