Sunflower Lodge is a 5-minute drive from both the heart of New Plymouth and Fitzroy Beach. Fitzroy Golf Club is a 10-minute drive and Mount Taranaki is a 25-minute drive.

Review 1：Friendly helpful staff. Well-run and clean. Quiet location and (as always at YHA) considerate fellow travellers. Well-organised kitchen and good hot water supply

Review 5：Early office closing time at 7 pm. I wanted to explore the area, so I took my time and ended up arriving at 7:30 pm. Fortunately, they left behind a key for me. Did not get wifi password though so that sucked because telephone reception in the area was poor.
Review 6：The private room was very nice, almost like a regular motel room, or even better. Shared facs like kitchen, toilet, shower, but it was a very nice place and exceeded my expectations.

Review 8：Lots of travellers. Great outdoor area overlooking trees and watch the sunrise. Rainforest walking tracks from front door. Off street parking for a few cars. Piano and guitar for the music lovers in lounge. Free WiFi and very secluded in a leafy suburb.
Review 9：Only issue is limited off street parking at this Lodge, but I was allowed to park my motorcycle near it in the check in only parking as I was the last to arrive. The nearby suburban street for parking is pretty quiet.
Review 10：While it is about 2kms from the town centre, you are in a quiet gully with trees and birdlife. A friendly greeting by the manager when I arrived and good facilities to relax at, including lounge, conservatory and outdoors.
Review 11：No Internet available in the room. Had asked for Internet upon registering. Booked here as Internet is on their website. Wasted time trying to connect, eventually went to ask staff to be told of known connection issue. Quite off hand response. Later in the night offered to change my room, but by then too late. After Internet issue when going to bed found that the 2 pillows both had several long hairs on them, and certainly were not clean. Did not raise with staff due to attitude, so I improvised. Sheets did look clean. Limited off street parking, and hard to relax thinking you may need to move your car at some point.

Review 13：Comfortable room, good shared kitchen and lounge,friendly staff. Parking is free but there are not many off road spaces, however it is a quiet street. A very pleasant stay.
Review 14：The staff were friendly and helpful and the bed was super comfortable. There were many little details that made it feel homely such as a free water cooler, hot water bottles and hairdryer. The sunroom was so lovely on a sunny morning and had a beautiful view of the bush. Location right next to the Te Henui walkway made for beautiful walks. I would recommend sunflower lodge to anyone looking for a quiet homely oasis :-)
