Reviews for Coconut Palms Inn

Review 1:Sometimes the waves would wake us up at night because we were so close to the beach.

Review 2:The quiet, calm, and home like facilities. Close to groceries and the outside kitchen was great.

Review 3:Our bed wasn't very comfortable for our personal tastes and our room didn't have much acoustic protection from outside noises (it seems most other rooms did have normal glass windows). We requested the beach front room... we just didn't know the waves would be so loud. With the AC or fan on, the outdoor noises were mostly drowned out.

Review 4:The hotel is on the beach and you see the most beautiful sunsets right off the beach side patio (on which there is also an outdoor kitchen including grill which you are free to use). Our room also had a medium sized fridge which was great. There is a great BBQ place walking distance right up the road "Lucky 13 BBQ", plus plenty of other delicious restaurants nearby. Route 413 is only about 5 minutes drive away. The staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations.

Review 5:We had a room upstairs looking out to sea, was great. Also liked room's microwave, coffee making facilities, crockery. You could step out of the garden straight onto beach and wash sand off at the gate on your way in.

Review 6:The one downside was that they didn't provide shampoo, and we weren't aware of this until we had already arrived.

Review 7:I loved that we were right on the beach. They provide some good beach toys and it's very central to local activities.

Review 8:The smoke alarm went off around midnight and would not stop beeping. We had to take it down and stuff it in a pile of towels in the bathroom. There was no hot water.

Review 9:The location was beautiful.

Review 10:Everything was great about the hotel but I'm giving the hotel 4 stars instead of 5 because the first room we got (I believe it was Starfish- the first one from the office) was depressing and unpleasant: no window (just a glass door with a curtain), dark, musty smell and outdated furniture with a broken bed frame. To get fresh air you needed to open the door to the walkway. However, we asked to be moved after the first night and our request was immediately accommodated and the second room was great. The hotel was getting updated furniture during our stay so the room may be better now I feel the first room should be priced lower due to the lack of window- so claustrophobic.

Review 11:Beautifully located just by the beach. Great shared terrace with an amazing view, where you can relax, look at the water and sunset. You can even grill on the terrace-pots and pans are provided. Grocery store is within a walking distance. Private, quiet hotel. You may need a car to go to restaurants in the town, however there are some bars that can be reached just by walking on the beach! .Room has a fridge, microwave, plates and utensils. Check in is at 3pm so you may need to wait before being let in the room if you arrive early. Overall cute and lovely boutique hotel. Perfect for couples. There are also three friendly cats ;) usually sleeping in the garden.

Review 12:If you are looking for a relaxing and friendly atmosphere to spend your weekend right on the beach, this The Place to pick. You can feel safe at all times. Moreover, Angel is an outstanding host.

Review 13:Incredible location right on the beach. Common area with barbecue for guest use. Great room, very comfortable. Close to main highway and local restaurants. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 14:Steps away from the water and could hear the ocean from the room. Great outdoor area to chill and enjoy the sunsets with a cooking and grill area. Highly recommend!

Review 15:Water leaked in the shower, the water was cold all week long, just not maintained like it should. I've been going there for 5 years and this was my last stay. I will say the back area has a nice kitchen and area to hang out by the water .

Review 16:After arriving at Coconut Palms we immediately booked it for an extra night (and would have stayed even longer if had the chance). The ocean is literally steps away from the room, everything is well maintained and clean. The hosts are very kind and helpful.

Review 17:The owner was verte nice and helpful. She took the time to show me the property. The place is very nice and cozy. It is right in front of a beautiful quite beach.

Review 18:Great location, the owners/staff are very friendly and accommodating, and someone is almost always there. Rooms are the perfect size for someone who spends their day playing outside and the fridge is a great bonus.

Review 19:There was no one in the office when we checked out.

Review 20:Our room was only 10 yards from the surf. The oceanfront patio was nicely appointed including a complete outdoor kitchen. Sunsets on the water were beautiful. It was a very relaxing atmosphere.

Review 21:Can't think of anything.

Review 22:Staff was overly hospitable and helpful. Bed was amazing. Everything was convenient. This was my second stay at the Coconut Palms on my 3rd trip to Rincon. I will return. No question.

Review 23:The waves at night were very loud, but the air condition was loud enough to drown them out.

Review 24:Loved the location, right on the beach! There were no other people on the beach, only a friendly puppy. Amazing cooking facilities on the deck overlooking the water.

Review 25:Room could have been cleaned better. For this price you would expect fresh sheets every few days...

Review 26:Great location, directly at the beach, comfortable terrace, extremely helpful and pleasant staff, close to shops

Review 27:I guess I really like my home kitchen because I had a hard time preparing the food I wanted with the supplies available. You are responsible for take care of your own room there. If you want a hotel with full service this is not the place for you. It's more of a hideaway by the beach.

Review 28:Being right on the beach was great. It's also a nice base to explore the beaches in the west coast. We cooked all of our meals. You can cook everything outside. You don't really need the kitchen apartment unless it's raining a lot.

Review 29:we liked everything about the hotel

Review 30:Staff (Angel) was an outstanding host! Ocean front with beautiful views of the beach and ocean! Convenient to water sports and ocean front bar and resturant. Outdoor cooking area and patio Nice outdoor atrium

Review 31:This is an amazing place to stay in Rincon - and in Puerto Rico generally. There are some small resorts and hotels in Rincon, but they cannot compare with the peaceful, secluded haven that the Coconut Palms offers. The location of being literally on the beach is amazing, and made for a relaxing stay.

Review 32:The bed could have been a bit more comfortable and they could provide shampoo.

Review 33:It was gorgeous and the staff were awesome! Literally steps from the beach, the room was really nice and equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and dishes. There's a beautiful area with fountains, a hammoc, fish, etc. and a nice deck with tables, chairs, and a barbecue you can use. Great value!

Review 34:The fasility they where the best,tv and air condition of Plas they wasn't I the right place.plus near the beach it was people lotering and laughing loud couldn't relax. In general it wasn't the best place

Review 35:Personal

Review 36:There's literally nothing not to like

Review 37:We arrived here towards the end of our two week trip to PR and the second we arrived, we wished we had started the trip here, all though we wouldn't have left willingly. We had one of the ocean view rooms which is literally on the beach with the waves crashing in below. Absolute heaven. Owner and staff super friendly and the self catering BBQ area is perfect for cooking your own meals. Felt so at home here and worth another visit.

Review 38:No hot water (shower) even after waiting for a long time. Towels were very low quality & could still find stains on them that never washed off. Amenities were old but if you're looking for a place to stay on a low budget- would recommend.

Review 39:Coconut palms is right on the beach so it's nice to wake up to for a nice walk before starting the day

Review 40:Bed headboard was a bit wobbly.

Review 41:Small place, only 8 rooms so it was quiet and the beach was almost all to ourselves. The sound of the ocean was great, loud enough to hear from the room in our oceanfront room. The hotel even had a stash of water toys-body boards, snorkels etc and provide coolers if needed and a grill to cook on.

Review 42:We spent one night in the coqui room. It was absolutely marvelous! Fantastic view! You can hear the waves all day and night. We loved our room and our private balcony. The inn is absolutely lovely. We only wish we could have stayed there longer!

Review 43:The wifi at the front of the hotel can be "iffy" at the end of the day when everyone is back from the beach and the bandwidth is overloaded.

Review 44:The location. Rincón- or more precisely Stella, is a local beach community. Our modestly sized room, "Whale", was a ground floor small room overlooking the ocean (whale). There is a large balcony out front to sit and watch the waves. The beach is right there. The place has a great vibe, and is the kind of unpretentious, well-tended place of character we like. It isn't the Hilton or the Holiday Inn. It isn't party central. That's down the beach. Everyone who worked there was welcoming and made us feel comfortable and at home.

Review 45:The staff, location (On the beach) and room was just right. It was our second stay and we've decided to make it our favorite place. Definitely will book again.

Review 46:rooms are dirty, poor conditions, service maid not everyday, dusty, smelly, AC making lot of noise (we change rooms but was the same in the other one) the people who work there are really helpfull and super Nice, the hotel is right on the beach and well placed but these are the only good points. We found it overpriced for what it is.

Review 47:right on the Beach.

Review 48:Rain storm backed up the shower and the toilet. Left a day early last day refunded, two days without shower was not at least discounted. Staff tried to make it right, owner just a bit greedy.

Review 49:The location, the hotel, and the staff were nice and comfortable.

Review 50:Rooms are a bit dark, but it doesn't matter because of the lovely outside.

Review 51:Wonderful simple little hotel, situated on the beach. The garden is inviting. The best sleep I have had on this trip.

Review 52:Angel was wonderful. It was our first time to Puerto Rico and rincon and his place is wonderfully. Great rooms. Beach is right there. I would stay there again if I went Back

Review 53:the room we have booked for 120$ , was a garden view room. the living room only had one window you couldn't not open because of plastic sheet sticked on it and the room had not windows at all. So the room was pretty humid with humidity stains on the wall. The decoration was very used and old. the room was dirty with sand and death bugs on the floor . As there were just one window , you could not open , it was pretty dark, and hot! and the old air condition machine working all the time had a defect , and was very noisy. when we noticed it 10min. after we got in the women at the lobby left already. So my only advice would be : Please , for your sake , do not go there !!

Review 54:Nothing, it's a huge rip off!

Review 55:Coconut Palms is a wonderful, small and homey hotel. The garden area is gorgeous, with great seating areas. The shared veranda is perfect-sized - big enough to have separate groups, yet small enough to get to know your neighbors. And it's right on the water, 3 stairsteps up from the beach. The room has a fridge, coffeemaker and microwave, and there is a grill and kitchen area right on the veranda which all guests can use. The staff was great - friendly and informative. It was fun to get to know the 3 resident cats. I would definitely return to Coconut palms and recommend it to anyone wanting the perfect place to stay in Rincon.

Review 56:The next day, my husband went downstairs to dispose the garbage and the person in charge, that later someone told us her name was Rosie, said to him: “We already received complaints about the dog” She didn’t even salute him, not even with a good morning. She said that some people called to say our dog was barking at night. We were upset because it wasn’t true. When my husband told me about it, I decided to send a text message to Rosie (they had their cell phone numbers in the room) and I wrote this:“Hi, I’m one of the guests staying at Coquí Room. My husband was told that there were complaints about our dog barking last night and I want to clarify that he didn't bark last night. I woke up at 5am, put him in the bathroom and he was quiet til 7:30-8am that we woke up. He's barking now because well he's a dog and that's what they do and because we put him outside. People staying here has to know that this is a pet friendly place, If they don't like pets or barking they shouldn't had stayed here in the first place”After that my husband went upstairs visible mad and told me there was an issue with the message I sent and that I needed to go down and sign a paper.I went down stairs and Rosie was upset too. She said that I didn’t have to send a message because I texted her boss and she could had handle the situation without her boss being concerned. I said that I thought I was texting her and that my dog was not barking at night, we went to bed at 8:30pm and he didn’t bark. My husband told her that if we were disturbing the other guest we would leave if they return the money but she said that there were no refunds. He really wanted to leave but I insisted that the ones who needed to leave were the ones who complained. Then she handed me the Pet Policy she should have give me at the check in, saying that pets cannot be left without a leash and they needed to be quiet. Wanting a dog to not bark is like wanting a baby to not cry, impossible.

Review 57:My husband and I were planning a local stay for our 10 year anniversary, being short on time, budget, with a puppy and a toddler it's kind of difficult. So I did a little research about the pet-friendly places to stay, knowing that Puerto Rico is not that into "pet-friendly".After searching an affordable place, we decided to stay at Coconut Palms Inn because about this review on Primera Hora 5/15/2009:"The place is completely fenced to allow dogs to run free with all the security around the property, including the beach. They have no weight restrictions for pets and absolutely no charge for the stay"The prices were affordable, we love Rincón, and the idea of being able to bring our dog to a place allowing them to "run free" was a good to go.Check In: When I book thru www.booking.com I specify it was for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 puppy. When we arrived, the person in-charge that never told us her name, told us she thought it was 1 adult, 1 child and 1 puppy, that she "upgraded" us to a room with a queen bed and ocean view. I don't know why she said that was an upgrade because I selected a room with a queen bed with ocean view. I made the rest of the payment and sign the receipt. She showed us map of Rincón with places to go, she showed us the areas and took us to the room.Areas: It’s a small guesthouse, but it was perfect for what we wanted to do, had a time to relax in a private place. It has beautiful gardens. In the first floor they have a barbecue area for all the guests.Room: The room was nice and clean, the floor was a little dirty, it was big enough for us 4, it had a table with a microwave, a coffee maker and dishes, it had another table and two seats, a table to eat, a mini fridge, a huge closet and the bathroom was huge too. The AC was working great. It was on the second floor.

Review 58:Location was ok, no hot water (they have a solar water heater. We didn't get any got water during our stay), bathroom was cramped, mildewy and outdated, found hair on bed/pillows on first day (did not belong to us!)

Review 59:Bed was comfy, located on the beach, deck area was very nice

Review 60:Coconut Palms Inn was a great place to stay in Rincon if you are looking for a relaxing beach getaway. The property is absolutely beautiful and well maintained with a very helpful and attentive staff. We had everything we needed, and a beautiful view of the ocean from our room. Be prepared to make (or buy) your own coffee and food, and plan your vacation accordingly. Places to eat and drink are within walking distance along the beach. Grocery stores and fruit stands are nearby as well. We will definitely be going back to Coconut Palms for future vacations!

Review 61:Room was small and little space to put our 3 pcs of luggage.

Review 62:Our room was in the front of beach and honestly it sounded as if we were sleeping on the beach with air condition. The room is comfortable not luxurious but the beach makes up for all that this hotel lacks.

Review 63:Only negative was the tide was really high so not much beach In feb 2015 because of all the storms on east coast which was no fault of coconut palms. If we ever come back to Rincon this is where we will stay and we stayed at 3 different places.

Review 64:Location was perfect! Walking distance to many places but not in the busy crowed area. Right on the beach and nice and quiet except for the waves which was really nice.

Review 65:Being right on the beach was amazing. The sounds of the waves and the pelicans diving into the water right offshore for fish made the place quite exotic. The room was great.

Review 66:Coconut Palm's beach setting met our needs perfectly....reasonably priced, right on the beach, small number of rooms, common grill area for cooking...next time we might splurge for an ocean view! we had the garden view rooms.

Review 67:We were greeted by the owner at the gate, and she showed us around while our rooms were readied. Someone friendly was on site at all times in case we needed anything. Right on the beach! Unobstructed spectacular sunsets! Communal outdoor kitchen right on the patio overlooking the ocean! Really wonderful.

Review 68:wifi was spotty

Review 69:Front door / deck balcony right on the beach..20 feet to the water. Super awesome staff, couldnt do enough to ensure comfort. Small boutique hotel feel...Common balcony area great to meet other guests...Fab sunsets.

Review 70:Place was very nice, well kept, yet run down.

Review 71:Beach location, cleanliness of the beach, restaurants on the beach, easy access to amenities of Rincon. Easy opportunity to meet and converse with the other guests.

Review 72:I liked that it was a really quiet neighborhood and right on the beach. We rarely ventured out, and the beach was super unpopulated where the hotel is. Anytime we went out to get food or go to another beach or bar, it was only 10 minutes or so. There's a grocery store, convenience store, snorkeling shop and bar all within a couple minutes stroll.

Review 73:The owner is unpleasant should you be unlucky enough to have to deal with her (the manager is quite the opposite). Moreover, the owner tried to work in extra fees for the room, stating at first that since the group consisted of three, the third person was to pay extra fees. Later she insisted these fees constituted extra taxes. Luckily, the manager and staff make up for the owner's negatives and are honest. The rooms we stayed in were located on the first floor and were a bit shabby and had a musty smell. I doubt that the fees we paid were commensurate with the quality of the rooms.

Review 74:The staff was wonderful and helpful. The veranda overhanging the beach was beautiful during the day and evenings. It was wonderful to have a grill, utensils and sink outside for all who wished to grill their food. Eating out on the veranda in the evenings or just sitting there with the stars above and the ocean roaring was serene and beautiful--until a larger group arrived,

Review 75:I was initially given the "last" room next to the office described as a garden view on the internet. The room actually had no window and was stuffy smelling. I was explained that the "garden view" was when you opened the door. The TV remote was missing so I was given one from another room that only partially worked. When I strongly expressed my unhappiness about the situation, I was told there was another room but it was "smaller". I looked at it and it was a bit smaller, but with windows and no musty order. Slept OK, but the room was noisy in the morning because it was on the path to the front office and any conversation was heard word for word. I suggest anyone staying there get an ocean view room preferably on the second floor.

Review 76:Friendly staff

Review 77:worried about the bed at first but turned out good.

Review 78:relaxing ocean noise. truly steps from the water beautiful for swimming ,relaxing, walking on the beach. great sunsets. 5min drive to town or marina for a variety of restaurants and town square.

Review 79:The location is fabulous. It's clean and comfortable but not fancy. It's very simple, rooms are small but do the job! And with a front porch/deck right on the ocean..who needs any more than that!!! We'd love to go back. It was one of my favorite places we stayed on our Puerto Rico vacation.

Review 80:We didnt like leaving! We were so sad.

Review 81:This place was simply unforgettable. It almost felt like we were staying with family. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and had everything we could ever ask for. The beach was literally steps away and the view was breathtaking. I am definitely coming back. Fridge in room, air conditioning, tv, comfy bed. Grill outside and chairs to relax. I felt like we had the whole place to ourselves and the beach was very private. There's a sandwich place that you can walk to called Sandwich Delight, there's also a great local restaurant called Rincon Tropical, and a 10-minute drive from this beautiful lighthouse with breathtaking views. And again the staff here were just amazing, we felt like we were staying with relatives. Best vacation ever!!!

Review 82:The couple tiny little inconveniences were rectified very fast n upgraded to boot.

Review 83:Gail called to make sure we could find the place ok. The garden area was very cute n quaint n Beautiful. This property feels like you are the only ones n very special. The ocean is SUPER close! Very nice staff! Very homey! Amazing views! Very private feeling.

Review 84:Coconut Palms Inn is located in south Rincón. The beaches here are quiet and not crowded. You will need to drive into town to rent snorkel gear, get a bite to eat, etc. There is a grocery store across the main road and they have everything you need should you wish to cook your own meals. We grilled at sunset each night and it was beautiful and relaxing.

Review 85:Once I was changed from the original room which was terrible... I was much happier, the air-conditioning however was poor. I recommend that if you decide to go to this facility you ask to see the room. Did not like the beach went to other local beaches. Please read the policy of any cancellations.

Review 86:Cleaning was great. Convenient to local restaurants and local beaches.

Review 87:Angel Morales was totally awesome. He made 4 cranky women very happy and comfortable. He made sure we were happy with our stay and always cleaning and making sure all guests were happy. Thank you so much !!!! Eneida

Review 88:It became a little difficult finding someone to speak to different times of the day.But that still should not discourage anyone from staying here.Still is a great place!

Review 89:My favorite part was being steps away from the beach.Waking up to the sunrise is amazing!

Review 90:Would have been nice if they has coffee for guests. There was a pot in our room but no Coffee offered.

Review 91:Sleeping with sounds of waves crashing mere feet from your room, nice patios, friendly and helpful staff. This was our favorite place to stay in Puerto Rico!

Review 92:Wi if didn't work in my room, had to go outside and toward the office to get signal. The air conditioning was loud in one room, moved rooms and had very poor cooling. Took about 2 hours to cool room. I complained but they didn't do anything. They want you to turn off everything when you leave the room or they'll charge you $20 extra for the electric. They did waive that for us because of our ac issues.

Review 93:It was right on the beach the rooms big and clean.

Review 94:The only downside to this whole trip is that one of the days there was no electricity... but in Puerto Rico that happens quite often and we knew that it wasnt the owners fault. They even upgraded our room for us to make us feel more comfy. Thank you to the staff for being so kind!

Review 95:I loved this location. The rooms were very comfortable... It had everything we needed. It was right on the beach which was perfect. It was very quiet and peaceful and just perfect. I would go back again and again. The staff was really nice! :) Thank you so much!

Review 96:Small room

Review 104:The location on the bach is marvelous!

Review 105:Absolutely beautiful location and amazing staff.

Review 106:Peaceful and beautiful location with own beach, the staff was so kind and helpful

Review 107:Off street parking was not really off street, but it was a quiet neighborhood.

Review 108:Cute place with great patio overlooking the ocean.

Review 109:wish it were closer to downtown rincon

Review 110:Beautiful facilities and great location on the beach

Review 111:the first room i was offered

Review 112:location the patio which overlooks the ocean

Review 113:Nice quiet beachfront property with friendly staff. No food service but plenty of restaurants nearby.

Review 114:It was too short of a time.

Review 115:Friendly, clean, comfortable, Fantastic views of the sea. Wonderful sunsets.

Review 116:Walls are very thin, could hear outside and next door

Review 117:Very nice location

Review 118:There is not wifi in the bedroom

Review 119:Internet in the room it should be a most. It is only available in the middle of the garden

Review 120:Best location in Rincon. Love it

Review 121:Beachfront property, everything you could imagine available in kitchen.

Review 122:Outdoor kitchen could use a little cleaning but it is outside! We did use it quite a bit and worked well for us.

Review 123:location, staff
