Reviews for LKNZ Lodge

Review 1:Just one small critisism - The room was a bit cramped with a queen bed and a single - but still Ok. (Access to the wardrobe was compromised).

Review 2:Friendly, helpfull, knowledgeable staff. Clean rooms, easy access, Secure parking for our bikes. Having a bar/dining area and breakfast available down stairs is a big bonus.

Review 3:Very strange odour in room that lingered even after airing room out. Beds are very soft and sink in. Missing toilet paper in the bathrooms.

Review 4:Friendly staff. Clean and tidy. Good value for overnight or short stay.

Review 5:The lady at the reception was friendly and helpful. She recommended a good restaurant for dinner and next day she gave us very good tips on how to enjoy the area.

Review 6:Stayed in the black building at the back & was the noisiest place i have stayed in a long time. Woken repeatedly by the footsteps upstairs of people getting ready at 5am as well as hearing every footstep on the stairs. The building is also situated next to the main road so could easily hear the trucks as they passed.

Review 7:Good value in good location for access to skiing.

Review 8:The very noisy room along with the selfish rowdy guests sharing our bathroom - may i suggest thst mirrors in the rooms may assist with the time some people spend in the bathroom

Review 9:We love the restaurant facilities - very reasonably priced and staff are great

Review 10:Nothing really

Review 11:Owners, breakfast included, kitchen facilities. Really well set up place which was quite cheap for the large group we had. Really enjoyed our stay!

Review 12:The staff were really friendly, easy to talk to and helpful with things to do in the region. They were also quick to attend to any issues that we had (which were few!). A great stay with our kids!

Review 13:Loved it! Friendly staff, great room.. Loved the spa after a day in the snow! Highly recommend the breakfast toastie!!!! Will definitely go back and bring our friends !!

Review 14:dirty bathrooms, no ironing equipment, can hear noises from other rooms, uncomfy bed.

Review 15:Accommodated us even though we checked in late and affordable price.

Review 16:Although it wasn't clear in the advertisement this was "backpackers" accommodation, meaning a small room and shared bathroom/toilet facilities, which were thankfully clean. There is another part of the lodge with "en suite" facilities (i.e. your own bathroom) that costs more and that we thought we were getting, but no. So be sure you reserve the kind of room that you want.

Review 17:The price was the lowest available in Ohakune.

Review 18:The cleaners did not do a thorough job of clenaing the room we stayed in. There was a spider sap on the curtain which broke open when drawing the curtains. Around thirty dead spiders landed on the floor and cupboard. My daughter was not impressed.

Review 19:The location was excellent and within a short distance to restaurants and nature walk/run tracks.

Review 20:Everything was clean and tidy. Good showers. More facilities than the norm. I was happy with my choice and have no complaints. My hire car developed a flat battery and the staff gave me a jump start and lent me jump leads until I could get things sorted.

Review 21:Rooms are very small and it was actually too warm!

Review 22:Good location in town, kitchen facilities are good, hot water and clean rooms - for a 1 night short stay for The Goat it was ideal.

Review 23:Excellent, friendly service, very informative and helpful, especially Amanda!! Beds comfy and facilities very clean and tidy. Great value for money. Loved the hot tub. Will be back :)

Review 24:The TV in the shared-lounge area next to our room was very loud, which wasn't grew for getting young kids to sleep.

Review 25:Close to town. The bar and facilities were good and well-priced. Service was excellent.

Review 26:Too expensive for what it is, the layout wasn't great for us being cramped together in one room, and the couch is really uncomfortable, so no haven to relax in which is what you want after a hard day skiing!

Review 27:Location, staff were friendly, rooms clean.

Review 28:From the adverts it really was not clear that this is a hostle and we had just rented their apartment. Overall the price was too much for the accomidation.

Review 29:Great location, friendly staff.

Review 30:The room was a bit tight for a double bed and single bed (3 people); the single bed blocked the closet. 3+ person rooms should be a bit bigger. Beds were very firm. No toilet paper on arrival.

Review 31:Good location, Very Clean and Very friendly staff. Staff helped on arrival and later on with drinks/food in the bar. Friendly kitty cat in the lounge. Lots of games available and 2 jacuzzi's!

Review 32:road noise

Review 33:the room was too warm after a sunny day. And it stayed warm even the window was open. We couldn't sleep. The fridge didn't work.

Review 34:The road close, little bit noisy

Review 35:Polite staff, clean room

Review 36:Staff were friendly and helpful

Review 37:Friendly staff, warm room and awesome breakfast!

Review 38:Blanket on bed was too small.

Review 39:Friendly helpful staff, good location.

Review 40:Functional, clean, economic (just what a dutchman wants)

Review 41:The add picture had two singles and a double, which is what I was expecting and more room. Instead a queen and single and cramped for three

Review 42:Warm

Review 43:helpful staff

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:Good value

Review 46:The welcome and friendliness of the staff, a good atmosphere and good food. Good value for money. We'll definitely return!

Review 47:Very friendly woman in reception, gave advice on things to do and places to eat. Comfortable room, good facilities, would definitely stay here again.

Review 48:So called triple room was really just a double with another bed squeezed in. No access to wardrobe and quite cramped.

Review 49:Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 50:Im a middle aged bugger so it was a blast to have fun with the youth living the trekking lifestyle. Great hang out.

Review 51:Really nice, modern hostel. Clean and tidy with a real mix of people there. Lovely staff, couldnt do enough to help. Will be back!

Review 52:Everything. From location to comfort.

Review 53:Some of the chairs in the kitchen were a little past it.

Review 54:Cheap comfortable and generally clean, staff helpful and accomodating

Review 55:bugs

Review 56:desk staff

Review 57:We had three rooms, two of the rooms had a faulty door that wecouldn't close. When we arrived the doors were wide open so therooms were cold and damp. The temperature outside was 1 degrees. Thebedding was damp. There were panel heaters in the room, but they had notbeen turned on. Even with my husband pushing his whole body weightagainst the doors they were hard to close. We had to rest our bagsagainst the door to stop them from staying open. The rooms were in apoor state of repair, two of the ceilings had holes that had beenpunched or kicked in. This was not a pleasant stay for us and we decidedto go home early and lose our money, rather than stay another night.

Review 58:Excellent facilities - really clean neat and tidy. Fabulous shower, beds and room had everything we needed and more. Staff helpful and friendly without being intrusive. The way the lodges and different bunk houses were arranged was well thought through so those who wanted a bit of quiet weren't bothered by those who didn't.

Review 59:bunk beds, not really comfortable. Very few showers for the number of beds available

Review 60:good value for money, staff was friendly and promptly solved our issues

Review 61:Clean kitchens and bathroom. Well equiped kitchen and very new. Clean rooms and sheets available. The hostel looked really luxurious and it was a good price.

Review 62:painful water jets in showers problerm to get to the kitchen after hours (automatic locks did not work) bunker beds difficult to climb to

Review 63:close to town centre

Review 64:the bathrooms for the dorms are a bit old but they are very clean

Review 65:A great hostel...The kitchen area is really nice and there is a supermarket nearby. The bus stop is only a three minute walk away. ...and they have a little camp fire in the garden behind the rooms. The bar does food and drinks in morning and evening too if you dont feel like cooking after a long day hiking

Review 66:You get what you pay for but it would be nice to have soap and paper towels in the bathroom and a bin in the bedroom.

Review 67:Location. The cafe and lounge. Excellent value for money. Kitchens were well equipped and clean.

Review 68:Didn't like the $40 budget room with outdoor loo which we were allocated at first. The room felt like a prison cell.... just two bunks in a tiny room... ok for young people I guess, but not for a middle-aged couple.

Review 69:I was impressed with how quickly and willingly staff 'up-graded' us to a better room with a double bed and indoor bathroom... didn't mind a shared bathroom... we were expecting that. The breakfast and shuttle service to Horopito were good. Staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen area was excellent... clean and well equipped.

Review 70:some traffic noise at night but not enough to keep me awake

Review 71:Friendly hosts were knowledgeable about the area and also of other interesting areas to visit in the North Island. Lovely view of Mt Rhuapehu from Unit 46.

Review 72:Would have been good to have a TV in the room.

Review 73:Friendliness of the staff. Comfortable bed! Restaurant recommended by staff had great food. Well cooked breakfast-inexpensive also.

Review 74:Proximity to main road made it a bit noisy occasionally during the night. Heat shut off during the night; first night it was a break-down; had no report on whether the 2nd night was also as we left before the office was open.

Review 75:Kitchen facilities were very convenient.

Review 76:the part of the building we stayed in was pretty old and run down. the single bed I slept in was extremely average. I lay down and my bottom pretty much touched the floor.

Review 77:some parts of the building were new and looked very lush

Review 78:not so keen on the sharing of kitchen facilities, with other guests coming in - not sure if they were guests or staff?

Review 79:located centrally, meeting family travel needs and tourist attractions for my family to enjoy

Review 80:Very helpful personnel, they help with all kind of (summer) activities. Very nice new room (ensuite), absolute the best we’ve seen in this price category! (Nothing like the typical backpacking). Close to town.

Review 81:the room was a really good price for 3 of us and I have no complaints about being a bit crowded because after all we did only need to sleep there . However the air got stale and hot in the room with the sliding door shut and we had to leave it partly open overnight. An opening window might have been a better option.

Review 82:lovely friendly and helpful staff, clean room, view of the mountain beautiful, easy to find (convenient to the main road and shops), comfortable beds, nice river walk nearby. Nice hot shower.

Review 83:Springs in mattresses dig into ones back a bit.

Review 84:It wasn't very busy when we were there so didn't have to share kitchen, TV, pool table or fussball. Might be different if there were lots of other guests.

Review 85:Over priced: no tv at all (let alone Sky TV)/no radio in room/ no soap/shampoo in shower/ very hot night but no air conditioning (or fan even) while across the road a two room apartment, with sky, for same overnight price. Smallish room. If we had not already paid the full fare,we would have moved motel. No help in moving luggage into room ,which was a long way from where car had to be parked.

Review 86:friendly staff (manager) who tried to be helpful. Clean. Quiet. Not much road noise. Nice view of mountain (when cloud cover lifted). Good shower.

Review 87:No spa

Review 88:Staff were very welcoming and accomodating

Review 92:Very clean and tidy

Review 93:Loved everything. Excellent staff, beautiful room and great location. And the spa pool was AMAZING.

Review 94:There is no place above to put I was travelling with my sister

Review 95:Bunk beds a bit wobbly, ladder dodgy!

Review 96:Price was excellent

Review 97:People were amazing. Service beyond expectation. Prize fair.

Review 98:Beds (twin room) very uncomfortable. Toilets/showers quite unclean

Review 99:Kitchen OK

Review 100:Budget rooms dirty, photos don't match. Description not correct. Only a few double beds available. One a the worst backpapers ever booked.

Review 101:Good facilities in room Great location

Review 102:One of the toilets and one of the showers room were closed.

Review 103:Breakfast should be included in a place where there is little shopping available.

Review 104:Proximity to Tongariro National park

Review 105:Value for money, great meals, friendly helpful staff.

Review 106:Quiet noisey with trucks going past

Review 107:Great showers, nice and clean, friendly staff

Review 108:Expensive wifi

Review 109:Clean rooms, comfortable beds, relatively easy to reach ski fields from lodge
