Reviews for Tourway Inn
Review 1:Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean room, super comfortable bed, room just got brand new carpet, new furniture, new TV and new microwave / fridge, Wifi worked excellent and was very fast, I felt absolutely safe, I was allowed to check in early even - I will stay here again :)
Review 2:The wi-fi would not work. They gave me a couple of passwords and I never could get it to connect. Took laptop to office and they connected it for me and I went back to room to work and it stayed on about 10 minutes and went out again so I was not able to work. The sidewalk outside the room was very uneven and makes it hard for elderly people to get up and down.
Review 3:The staff was very nice. I believe they are all family. They were very helpful with directions as it is easy to get lost.
Review 4:Older style drink machines.. Needed exact change and no debit card/credit card readers on machines.
Review 5:Very friendly staff... Excellent lighting in parking lot with ample space.. Close to gas stations.. Close to children's hospital..
Review 6:no breakfast, no place to get it. Need some vending machines
Review 7:Don't judge a book by its cover. An older, "Travel Lodge" type motel that was surprisingly clean and comfortable with New bedding, new carpet. Owners on stile and great to work with. This motel is on the edge of downtown and I thought might not be safe, it was. 3 minutes from downtown, 1.7 miles from convention center
Review 8:Staff very accommodating and friendly. Offered to change room to downstairs one. Helped with luggage. Owner moved his car so I could have closer parking to stairs.
Review 9:the bathroom was clean though there was mold on shower tiles, TV was fuzzy, chairs in room had lots of stains, dresser drawers missing handles, wall plates with cable hanging off wall, shoes/sneaker prints on wall, odd painting bubbles in bathroom ceiling and shower drained slowly, accumulating a couple inches of water during shower. When it rained heavily (or from rooms above) area under sink got soaked. i asked about condition of room upon check in and had clerk acknowledge existing damage and condition of parts of room so i would not be liable. Asked about switching rooms and he told me they had the "good rooms" for the booking.com people, so i stayed.
Review 10:It was a lower priced option, the tub appeared to be new, the carpet was new, mini fridge and microwave were fine. the room smelled fine (no odor) and the sheets/pillows were new and clean. felt safe on property.
Review 11:The AC didn't have an option to run continuously that I could see so it kept cutting in and out every 5 minutes. If they would remodel the rooms and put in a more efficient AC then I would give a 5 on comfort.
Review 12:The rooms were reasonably clean and the staff was nice.
Review 13:Comfortable room, no noise. All staff are positive, helpful and approachable. Great location (very short drive / cab ride to Downtown, 5 Points South etc.), excellent value for money too.
Review 14:We had a couple of issues and they were significant. 2nd morning we had only a dribble of hot water in the shower. My husband filled the tub for me from the sink then took a cold shower. The management had this fixed before we ret'd in the afternoon. During our final nite, the a/c failed. Fan worked, but compressor failed. The hotel is old but functional.
Review 15:Our events were downtown, the hotel was in a convenient location. Manager in the office was helpful.
Review 16:We didn't have any bad experiences, but there are some long-term residents staying at the property. One resident approached us to ask where to purchase a substance illegal in Alabama, which was slightly uncomfortable. However, the owner observed the situation and quickly scolded the gentleman for approaching us. We weren't bothered again.
Review 17:The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly (owner possibly?) and the room was clean. It looked like they recently replaced the carpet. We were in town for a concert, and it was within a 10-dollar taxi ride of Five Points and a short drive to Avondale.
Review 18:The location. It was desolent and nothing around there as far as eating places.
Review 19:The prices were reasonable and all the Cable TV Options and it wasn't far from the main tourist attractions.
Review 20:Bathroom could stand a little more attention for cleanliness. There were not any places to eat close by.
Review 21:Large room with excellent furnishings.Fancy for the cost.
Review 22:In a bit of a dodgy area - not a great spot to walk at night but easy enough to get a taxi to and from and fine to drive.
Review 23:Clean rooms and comfy bed. Good air conditioning. A standard, decent inn.
Review 24:The owners were very nice I stayed for five days and they offered me houskeeping everyday ...changing linen ..towels ,etc. I chose this motel because it was the cheapest motel downtown.
Review 25:Older building that needs a little TLC, surrounding area is a bit rough, I would not go for a walk in this area.
Review 26:Clean room and friendly helpful staff.
Review 27:The front desk attendant called my room or knocked on my door everyday. Made me feel very uncomfortable. Also the TV didn't work very well. The remote skipped channels and the reception was poor.
Review 28:The room was spacious and comfortable. Bed was comfortable.
Review 29:I wish it had a hair dryer. The door to the bathroom didn't close well. You had to hit it several times to get it to close.
Review 30:I liked the price. I liked it being close to Legion Field as that is why we were there. Otherwise the location was not in the best area of the city.
Review 31:The door did not lock properly when you left the room. From the inside you could secure the deadbolt though.
Review 32:The hotel was easy to access from the interstate but was still quiet. The room was very clean and the staff very pleasant and helpful.
Review 33:No breakfast available or lounge area. Not really an issue as the American breakfast is not healthy and full of carbs so better off without it.
Review 34:Very convenient for the interstate and very good value for money
Review 35:Raymond the Owner and Ajay his son were very helpful and hospitable during our stay. the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff were also polite at all times.
Review 36:The place is old and the surroundings are kind of scarry. A loud train wissle let you know how close to the train tracks you are. The door does not have a deadbolt just a little chain on it. I kind of pile up things against the door just in case.
Review 37:It is an older hotel but is very well maintained and there were no bugs. If you need cheap this is it.
Review 38:The only thing that I could really complain about would be the lack of toiletries in the room and the neighborhood, while it is turning over, is still not where you would want to walk after dark and if you have the desire for a stroll around downtown it's just a bit to far for me.
Review 39:It is fairly close to Good People Brewing and the baseball stadium which was nice and it is directly off the interstate which served my purposes nicely since most of my business was on the outskirts of town. It also had a fridge in the room which further offset the costs of my travel.
Review 40:No i loved it
Review 41:It was. No bedbugs it was very cozy comfortable. Very clean nice surround. Very nice owners i had lefted things behind. And they held it for me intsead of throwing. Away. I would recommend. There before. Any other place. When i am in Birmingham. Thats where i will stay.
