Reviews for Tussock Grove Boutique Hotel

Review 1:The unit was not serviced in our absence and considering it is a "boutique " hotel I would have thought this would be done. Also there were no flannels

Review 2:The unit was comfortable and spacious. We arrived after midnight and the owner stayed up to greet us.

Review 3:got a lot of noise from other rooms. and heaters must have been on timer as temperature of room was variable. place was alittle tired and there was mold on the windows

Review 4:room was tidy, bed was roomy and had electric blanket if you needed it, good water pressure in shower, easy access in and out of room without having to walk threw whole building.

Review 5:A medium sized dog was loose in the reception area and displayed quite menacing behaviour. For a person who was not a dog lover this might prove to be a bit frightening.

Review 6:Wasn't too impressed with the spa pool

Review 7:The owner is very friendly & helpful, he gave great advice on places to eat & see. A really relaxed place to stay, we enjoyed our time there.

Review 8:Helpful & Friendly Staff. Loved the Cottage we stayed in. Very clean, cosy and warm. Fitted us 5 adults perfectly. Close to the town and not far from Turoa, Skii Mountatin.

Review 9:Very little - Road noise a little intrusive at night Annoying Chinese water torture drip from gutter onto adjacent roofing (It rained!) Hot tub malfunctioning!

Review 10:Excellent hospitality Well stocked bar Brodie the dog Clean comfortable - albeit functional - accommodation Easy walk to town Hike/bike/ski/everything-friendly

Review 11:Lack of of premises drying facilities.

Review 12:Spacious and comfortable accommodation for family of five with plenty of space to spread out. Kitchen well equipped and modern. Appreciated the complimentary ground coffee.

Review 13:The warmth of the heaters in the rooms The fantastic layout of the cottage with a beautiful little library room where my daughter slept as has a single bed The teen boys had their own separate room with twin beds and bathroom We had a lovely big queen?bed with our own bathroom next door. Petanque court out our door for family competitions (petanque set was in our room) We got a 10% discount card from Tussock Grove for Cypress Tree restaurant which was a great place, nice food. 2 minutes drive to shops/centre of town The friendly owners who gave great advice on where to visit Going in to the main lounge to check emails and talk and have a drink with other guests. Teens had to go over to lounge to check their emails/social media but free wifi in lounge so they were pretty happy. Just meant they couldn't stay up all night playing games on their laptops (hooray) :)

Review 14:The free Wifi but not in the rooms themselves and black hairs on the floor in bathroom. Heater, no instructions on how to turn it on And only down stairs. A bit worn and needs a spruce up to earn the name," Boutique "

Review 15:Parking was good and manager friendly

Review 16:The bed and pillows were too soft for my taste and we didn't get wifi in the room (had to go to the lounge for it). Ohakune is a bit far from the Tongariro Crossing starting point but it does have a few decent cafés and restaurants.

Review 17:The hot tub was great at the end of the day, after walking in the mountains (especially after the Tongariro crossing!!!)

Review 18:WiFi was being upgraded and didn't work in room, but full access in lounge. Should be ok for next users.

Review 19:Location, good facilities, roomy and quiet

Review 20:all was fine.

Review 21:It was lovely the two Chris's were really helpful , great breakfasts, lovely dinner couldn't ask for more very relaxing place to stay .Will go again when we return to NZ.

Review 22:Nothing so far as I can remember, maybe no heater light in the bathroom, bit picky though!!

Review 23:Location Cleanliness Helpful owners the Griffin's Cosy, Ideal with couple children, we sleept 5

Review 24:I was a little let down by the lack of privacy in spa. The door was frosted glass so people walking past could the occupants.

Review 25:The motel was easy to find and the staff were very friendly. We had a mezzanine room which was very comfortable with plenty of space.

Review 26:The walls between the rooms are a little thin - we had a very amorous couple in the room next to us. My 10 year old daughter summarised the activity as " what funny sleeping noises ? " - I replied (to myself) I don't think there was much sleeping.

Review 27:Excellent service and Friendly People. Good layout Great Breakfasts My kids loved playing with the hotel dog.

Review 28:Not much. Nice wooden exterior not matched by yellow/blue paint inside rooms. Slightly inconvenient to have bed and couch/tv upstairs and kitchenette/bathroom downstairs but not a biggie

Review 29:good bar - cosy wood fire. Good supply of magazines, enjoyed the spa. Good sized room (we had executive, 2 story room), friendly staff.

Review 30:we would usually opt for a place with a communal kitchen facility as we like to self cater for our lunches up the mountain. There is not cutlery in the suite style which we had to do this easily and we didn't come prepared.

Review 31:Nice quiet accommodation, clean, private, access to spa pool etc

Review 32:The apartment like rooms were great, two storey living was a refreshing change. In general was just a really cool place, always warm. Great owners too. A++

Review 33:Not so much of a dislike, but the hotel is described as boutique. I would say the communal area fitted this description, but not the rooms, or at least the mezzanine room we were in.

Review 34:Wonderful staff, very attentive and even dropped us off at the train station when we found out that there was no taxi service in the area. Saved us a long walk! Wonderful dog and lovely fire in the living area. Great spa too.

Review 35:Walls were quite thin as we could hear people talking in the other rooms/walking around and toilets flushing.

Review 36:Cute mezzanine room. Clean and tidy, lots of space. Chris was so helpful and friendly. Spa was awesome after a day skiing and drying room was an added bonus for all our wet gear!

Review 37:Nothing!

Review 68:great staff. friendly and welcoming. have stayed twice now and not been dissappointed.

Review 69:I would suggest every room should have a small microwave.

Review 70:Great staff! Great service! Awesome location.

Review 71:Spa pool is dirty we saw lot of hairs inside the water.

Review 72:Nice host and we can borrow DVD to watch.

Review 73:nothing

Review 74:Brodie the dog and the friendly owners (and the spa pool!)

Review 75:noise level from other rooms & the road.

Review 76:convenient location.

Review 77:No real kitchen facilities, Ice in room. (only fridge not freezer) In saying this owners provided ice for our room without hesitation.

Review 78:Lovely Owners, Great lounge and fireplace, 'Cute' rooms with mezzanine bedroom.

Review 79:No toaster - i find that very strange, that alone stops me gong back. I expect to make myself toast in a $125 room. Too much road noise, its too close to the road with no double glazing. I must be old fashioned as its overpriced. The paper etc was peeling in places and generally for the money it was very average.

Review 80:I liked the upstairs downstairs design and the rooms on the land layout with nice country feel. i liked the drive and tussocks, they could do more of that. i liked the grassy ootlook. With regard to your words above, if you are going to call it gay friendly please let me know as i won't stay there ever again!

Review 81:Easy to find and check in. Loved the friendly nature of the hosts and comfortable facilities. I would definitely stay again.

Review 86:open parkland and birdlife around the hotel

Review 87:No free wifi, location is really out of the way

Review 88:Nice owners, and the rooms are spacious!

Review 89:Internet signal strength was very weak, making internet unusable.
