Reviews for Moonlight Bay Hostel

Review 1:We had a private room. The room was ok, but the windows didn't close which let mosquitoes in. Room had a bed and a night stand. A second night stand will be very useful.

Review 2:Location is steps to the ferry; since you might need to wake up to buy tickets for the ferry very early this is a big bonus. Staff was very nice.

Review 3:Nothin actually. Generally, I do not like hostels, but this one was fine.

Review 4:Very nice people in the hostel. One of the guys showed us around in the rain forest. Hostel is clean and beda are comfortable.

Review 5:Do it yourself free breakfast pancakes ended up being a box of mix that required milk, eggs, and oil. All of which they did not have.

Review 6:Being able to book last minute and cheaper rate.

Review 7:Very dirty. This could be a great hostel, but the cleanliness needs to be worked on. Very expensive for a private without a private bathroom.

Review 8:Great location to the ferry. The staff members were excellent and accommodating. Cool art in the hostel.

Review 9:We were in a private queen room. The mattress was not even a mattress, just a thick sponge cushion which was too soft and felt really weird and uncomfortable to sleep on. The bed fabric felt like thin plastic and was not comfortable at all in the tropical climate. And we saw a roach... Not the big Puerto Rican ones but a smaller American one. We did take a look at other rooms after the night, and the deluxe queen room had the same "mattress". However the dorms had better mattress that can truly be called mattress. I paid for a private room but turned out to be staying somewhere worse than a dorm. Well, if you're looking for a college trip party thing and are staying in the dorm it should be a lot better. Also, the smell of kitchen should be better monitored. Not that it smells bad but it's such a small place that the intense smell just spreads everywhere.

Review 10:They have a laundry room. Staff are really nice and helpful. They also work with a taxi driver that charges a lot less than other taxi drivers like the old woman at the ferry.

Review 11:The staff were welcoming, it's a good place if you're looking for something cheap and one night stay. It's a cool hostel, but there are no near by restaurants or anything really- expect the ferry.

Review 12:a bit shabby and a lot of staff hanging around but still a nice hostel fajardo itself isn't really worth a visit, no stores, restaurants or sights

Review 13:good location to take the ferry the next morning, great rooftop hangout place

Review 14:There are signs everywhere to lock the doors, but staff left room doors unlocked. When I mentioned about it the answer was "they cleaned your room". Sure, I'm happy for cleaning, but it would be nice to have some security as well.

Review 15:Clean, quiet

Review 16:Community bathroom showers.. Just use the first floor showers.

Review 17:The sheets were immaculately clean, and Danielle who I made friends withafter I got off the plane, told me about how things worked. I traveledther with my friend I made at another hostel and we drove to El Yunque, and it was my first time to Fajardo. I told my mom about it. Very quietat night and in close proximity to kmart, and AT&T Wireless storesand subway.

Review 18:Fridge was really dirty and leaking water on the inside. It also would have been nice to have paper towels or more clean rags in the kitchen.

Review 19:Staff was great! Good location to take the ferry but there isn't too much going on in Fajardo. Be sure to get a rental car so you can explore more of the island if you stay here.

Review 20:Cockroaches everywhere!!! Really discusting, they employ strange people to maintai the fascilitys that just sit around and drink bear/smoke strange stuff all day instead off cleaning the place. Really dirty fridge to put you food. I cleand it a bit so I could put my food on a clean shelf and is was easy, so they are just a lazy bunch that works there. Expensive to do you laundry and weird soap that bleached some of my stuff and destroyed them.

Review 21:Very near the ferry, parking right outside. Easy to find. Good recommendations for what you can do during the days like trips and beaches and hikes.

Review 22:Not clean, bathroom flush does not work, need a car to go anywhere for eating/shopping except for the Culebra ferry, wi-fi keeps dropping, can hear noises from the hallways even after you close the door.

Review 23:It is a little far from restaurants.

Review 24:Close to ferry and very convenient to buy tickets. Staffs are very kind and helpful. The female dormitory room is actually much larger than shown on the picture.

Review 25:My friend and I stayed there for two nights. The 15-bed room was much better than we expected. The bed looks bigger than it is on the picture and is comfortable. The staffs are helpful and I just like the atmosphere. Two things I like most about this place: 1) you can take some food and have a party on the roof; 2) it is SO close to the ferry and makes it easier to get the tickets to Culebra and Vieques since you can get up at 6am instead of 4am...

Review 26:I must have expected too much (yes I've stayed in a variety of hostels but maybe I am getting older for them). It was noisy at night, music on the roof you could hear. Appreciate people wanting to hang out but we wanted to sleep to go explore early the next morning. There were some bugs in our room which really wasn't okay. The neighborhood is very deserted and while I didn't feel unsafe it also wasn't welcoming. Nothing was within walking distance except for the ferry. Wouldn't stay again.

Review 27:The staff was very nice. We decided not to stay our last night and they quickly gave us a full refund (more than I expected) it is right next to the ferry to the smaller islands. Easy drive to biobay tour. Good food within a short time.

Review 28:Laundry is expensive if you want to do it. Price is a little higher than other hostels - with tax it was almost $120 for two nights

Review 29:Staff was really friendly, bed was comfortable, and the location was awesome. We had a really nice time here, although we had a private room and so cannot speak for the dorms.

Review 30:We stood two nights and the bathrooms were dirty or filthy I could say those two days.

Review 31:Great location if you gonna catch the boat to Culebras early and wanna beat traffic.

Review 32:Floor in our room could've used a moping. We were in the private deluxe room.

Review 33:Super close to the ferry, all the staff were very nice.

Review 34:not very clean, AC of private room does not work

Review 35:very close to the ferry, staff is nice

Review 36:The location to the Ferry is great. The accommodations were clean and the people staffing the hostel were helpful.

Review 37:the other guests were kinda cold...

Review 38:the staff was great ! location was nice got a great single room nice deck on top .

Review 39:Everything. No complaints whatsoever.

Review 40:rough neighborhood, no views

Review 41:Close to ferry over to the islands

Review 42:the view from the roof deck is nice.

Review 43:nowhere to by groceries or liquor but one staff member would bike to store for $7

Review 44:hanging out with staff and guests on roof

Review 45:The staff here was amazing. Very friendly and inviting. Made the stay very pleasant.

Review 46:Cockroaches everywhere! Even on my bed! In the kitchen! In the bathroom.

Review 47:Good location, almost next to the ferry. Really nice matress.

Review 48:Nice roof top terrace Really close to the pier where ships leave for culebra

Review 49:Good, except from all the small bugs that were everywhere in the room.

Review 50:Very friendly staff!!

Review 51:roaches in the bathroom and bedroom!

Review 52:Small roaches in the bathrooms & a few in the bedroom as well - enough said. I wouldn't go back.

Review 53:公共卫生间。 shared bathroom

Review 54:位置好,就在码头旁边。服务员好,价格实惠。 good location and staff

Review 55:Trash bag was not clean and had ants all over desk which was hardly sturdy. Also, room is really tiny and not cleaned properly.

Review 56:Staffs were nice

Review 57:The staff were so cool that after my first night was over there, we took the ferry to Culebra and hung out for two extra days with.

Review 58:Shared bathrooms - only 3 for entire place. Semi-clean place.

Review 59:In fajardo, if you do not want to spend a lot of money then this is your best bet.

Review 60:the stuff is very nice

Review 61:Nothing but the Ferry in the area of the hostel.

Review 62:Close to the Ferry, AC in the room.

Review 63:I do feel that the house should be kept cleaner, but it was'nt horrid.

Review 64:It was extremely close to the ferries to the nearby islands. I also enjoyed the eclectic group of guests and workers.

Review 65:The one blanket they give you for the bed doesn't cover the entire bed. And the pump the AC in the room and tell you you can't mess with the temperature. Luckily there was no one else in the dorm room with me so I used two other blankets off other beds. Also there's nothing else to do in walking distance of Fajardo.

Review 66:The location next to the ferry is great. The rooftop deck is so awesome, there's always a breeze blowing and you have a great view of the water. The kitchen is great—full fridge, lots of kitchenware and utensils, plug-in stovetop and toaster oven. The bathrooms and nice and clean.

Review 67:Some small bugs running through the room from time to time.

Review 68:Very friendly and helpful staff, WiFi, position if you use the ferry for Vieques or Culebra.

Review 69:Kitchen could use some improvement; it took a while to boil water using the hot plate. Also note this is not the best place to stay if you don't have a car -- the neighborhood isn't the best. It was perfect for us, as we stayed there after coming back from Vieques and drove to Luquillo beach in our rental car the next day, just 15 minutes away.

Review 70:By far one of the best hostels we stayed at in Puerto Rico. Impeccably clean, wonderfully professional staff, and beds made with crisp white linens. The whole place had the feel of being really new, with individual air conditioning units in each dorm room. The rooftop terrace was also a great place to catch the sunset and eat a meal.

Review 71:We don't have a car and can't find a decent restaurant nearby.

Review 72:The hostel staff are very friendly. And it's just minutes' walk to the ferry.

Review 73:I have to say that I was quite surpreised to find out that this hostel was really not bad at all!! I was skeptical at the beginning because it was my very first hostel and after seeing the reviews. I was not ready for the noise and drunkenness. Lies, lies, Lies, lies, lies. Ryan was awesome and he made us feel at home once we check in. This place is super clean very close to the ferry that takes you over to the island. The staff was excellent and if your young and not stuck up like many people. Then this is the place to visit.

Review 74:Not so good for tourists not going on ferry, few restaurants or shops.... but valuable having Yarerick!!!!!!

Review 75:Yarerick, the manager/front desk was FABULOUS. SO HELPFUL. Locatiion is excellent for the Ferry to Islands. Deck on top great for full moon/night relaxation. Kitchen facilities handy/ bathrooms clean. Priced right, nice room, comfortable bed, quiet for a hostel.

Review 76:How dirty the bathrooms get, in the bathrooms the floor nats never dry and they are just musky and gross. The upstairs kichen needs some help. An oven would be awesome! Also it would be really cool if you guys had like signs comes my in from the freeway, that'd help a lot!

Review 77:I like that there are always staff around. Paccy and Danielle made my trip the most epic trip because they came with me on some adventures. They also were very positive and had great vibes, they understood all types of travelers and just wanted my vacation to be the best. Chris is awesome and knows a lot about the area as well. Overall the staff looks out for you!

Review 78:Nothing

Review 79:The best place for one day trip to the Islands Culebra & V (hostel is 5 min walk from ferry terminal) and also for trips to Y Forest & Seven Seas beaches and Bio lumin (20 &10 min drive).

Review 80:I stayed in a female 6 bunk bed room. It wasn't the cleanest though it easily could be. Just not an organized place. The advertised breakfast ... I saw a big bag of pancake mix, hmmm Mainly I didn't like the lack of cleanliness, the lack of hot water in one of the bathrooms and at some point there was no toilet tissue .... having said that, if the owners would put in a little more thought and pay attention to detail this place isn't bad.

Review 81:You get what you pay for, having said that, the mattresses were good and the staff was ok.

Review 82:A terrible location. Noisy like you wouldn't believe. The place attracts locals who bring their cars with hopped-up speaker systems to blow the neighborhood to smithereens late into the night. We were there on a Saturday night, which probably made things worse. But the hostel's staff apparently did nothing to stop this really extreme, deafening, punishing cacophony. Also, no place around to get a bite to eat. A pretty dreary setting.

Review 83:A laid-back, friendly ambience. Not super-clean, but clean enough.

Review 84:Area around hostel is not place where you would like to go for swim, it is a port. Without car you have to go to the islands.

Review 85:If you want to go on the islands place is right for that. Ferry is just around the corner and islands are great places to visit

Review 86:The immediate area had few bars and restaurants nearby and I was glad to have a car.

Review 87:Very reasonably priced accommodation to use as a base in the Fajardo area. Had a private room. Facilities ok.

Review 88:That I didn't stay longer! :)

Review 89:The staff at Moonlight was awesome! They were extremely friendly, downto earth, and helpful! The beds were super comfortable and they justmade the entire experience enjoyable! Did I mention that the staff wasincredible?

Review 90:The location was good since it was a 2 minute walk to the ferry.

Review 91:The staff were all super friendly and nice people. They always had a pot of coffee ready for everyone in tbe morning

Review 92:No food labeling for the fridge, which could be confusing.

Review 93:clean bathrooms, renovated flooring.

Review 94:Poor location with nothing around

Review 95:Great staff, very friendly. Clean facilities and good common area

Review 96:The staff was friendly and helpful location is convenient, close to ferry station

Review 97:The staff was great very friendly and welcoming! Beds clean and comfy too!

Review 98:Everything was great.

Review 99:The staff and atmosphere.

Review 100:The individual room is rather overpriced as it does not have a bathroom.

Review 101:Staff is very friendly and helpful

Review 102:staff

Review 103:There isn't actually a pancake breakfast :-(

Review 104:Really relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff!

Review 105:not too much parking available. Not as clean as I would like.

Review 106:location to ferry. Staff was extremely helpful!!!

Review 107:Not too clean, but it is already excellent for this price.

Review 108:Good Location, Good Staff.

Review 109:The staff is absolutely amazin, very helpful and friendly!

Review 110:The staff was helpfuff and really nice !

Review 111:It's conveniently located for Vieques ferries.

Review 112:Music noise should be in control in anytime.

Review 113:Youth hotel with low budget.

Review 114:There's only the ferry close to it, nothing else, no bars, nothing else to do.

Review 115:It is close to the ferry Friendly staff

Review 116:n/a

Review 117:easy going vibe of staff and guests...clean and updated facility...price for the value...location

Review 118:Located exactly next to the ferry to culebra and vieques, very convenient.
