Reviews for Heritage Queenstown

Review 1:Best night sleep in New Zealand. Excellent bed and pillow. Nice swimming pool. Very helpful staff. We were doing the Milford Track for 4 days and the hotel kept our bags and we could leave our car in their parking for the 4 days !!!

Review 2:Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great location if you want to be away from hectic central Queenstown but still within walking distance. Great breakfasts too.

Review 3:No air con in our room. It was hot even with the fan that was provided.

Review 4:Room was spacious. Bed was comfy. Nice view over the lake. Enjoyed the hot tub and the swimming pool. Staff were friendly and helpful

Review 5:Nothing to complain.

Review 6:We really enjoyed our stay at Heritage. Everything was great, especially the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 7:It's a nice, clean hotel with a great view. Staff is also very friendly and helpfull. Even though it's a bit of a walk to the city center, it is a very beautiful walk.

Review 8:The hotel is in a scenic location, although a bit far (3-4 km) from town - this probably had an up-side in avoiding some noise. Our room was comfortable and functional, with enough room for two adults and two kids for a couple of nights (you'd want more room for a longer stay). There is a guest laundry with a reasonable number of machines. During our stay, the hotel offered a breakfast special of $20 for a full buffet, with kids free. Possibly the only reasonably priced hotel breakfast in Queenstown.

Review 9:Breakfast was not included in the already expensive room price which was a surprise.

Review 10:The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Right outside town which was nice because in town can be a bit loud.

Review 11:No air conditioning - this was understood pre-booking, but what is not clear is that they shut off the air vents around 10pm at night and the heat becomes STIFLING. Can't open the doors as its too loud. They offer you a fan which sounds like an aircraft carrier taking off.

Review 12:Movies to rent were very expensive. I know it may sound silly, but the shampoo and conditioner were not nice to use and did not have the same luxury feeling as the rest of the hotel. Also the carpark was often over full and it was confusing as to where we were actually allowed to park.

Review 13:I loved that both my mum and I had a king size bed in the shared room. Great pool and spa facilities. Great staff as well and super friendly and helpful.

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:Really nice hotel. We stayed in the Deluxe Family Room that is large enough to accommodate 2 adults and two kids. Breakfast was various and good quality. Perfect and easy parking. Good WiFi connection.

Review 16:House keeping was a bit slow, by 2pm our room still hadn't been done even though we were away all morning.

Review 17:Nice hotel, great views of Queenstown, comfortable beds and really great food at the in-house restaurant, specially the lamb! its the right distance from the town centre; a short walk and yet far enough not to be bothered by the parties etc...

Review 18:Free WiFi for 24 hrs and then you are charged! An important hotel like this should not stumble in such things!

Review 19:Great hotel. The indipendence of a top quality motel and the services of top quality hotel. What else? Amazing lake view!

Review 20:The bed was a little bit too soft

Review 21:Great continental breakfast. Nice view and place just outside the crowded town. Staff was very friendly and helpful with all our requests.

Review 22:No air conditioning in the bedroom.

Review 23:It was away from the centre of town so wasn't noisy. The views were unbelievable and the 2 bedroom suite we had was spacious with everything we needed.

Review 24:I've never slept on a bed that was so soft and squishy to the point that it was actually a bit uncomfortable. I kind of felt like I was sinking into quicksand. Not sure why this was the case or if it's true of every room. The carpets also looked a bit tired and worn.

Review 25:Outstanding views from the 3rd floor lakeside rooms! Excellent cooked breakfast.

Review 26:Poor layout of all the rooms with the washbasin in the bedroom rather than in the en suite as usual. Also access to en suite not possible if the wardrobe doors open.

Review 27:Central location on Cathedral Square. Helpful staff.

Review 28:Location,views and facilities...hotel was small enough to give feeling of intimacy and ease to get around...everything close to hand...pool..car parking etc. Ivan, who checked us in was brilliant and ensured that we got holiday off to a great start...

Review 29:Our room was near an exit to stairway and outside so was noisy early in the morning from around 5.30am. Check in could have been more welcoming

Review 30:Size of room, bed very comfortable, cleanliness excellent. Facilities like pool, sauna and spa . Breakfast was very good.

Review 31:I requested a lake view room, however we were in the waterfall wing and the view was disappointing. Also we found the room smaller than expected

Review 32:The staff, the location environment and the pool facilities were great.

Review 33:If you plan to walking to the city centre and back, prepare yourself to walk a very long slope. The room was a bit noisy since it was located next to a staff entrance.

Review 34:Great breakfast, friendly staff, huge bed. Marvelous view from outside the hotel.

Review 35:We booked the room because it was on the lakeside. When we arrived we were told it didn't have any view of the lake but we could to pay an upgrade fee for the view which we did. We decided to pay an extra $50 because of a washing machine included - it didn't work. En suite was spotless but the carpet needed a good steam clean.

Review 36:The beds were very comfortable and location was great..Very clean en suite.

Review 37:We only got to stay two nights.

Review 38:A beautiful location, comfortable beds and great staff made for a perfect stay. And the view was just amazing. Jenny the concierge really looked after us. Ask to see the pillow menu.

Review 39:Great location a short walk out of town with view-tops overlooking the city and lake. Room nice and clean with a view over the forest and lake.

Review 40:The sofa bed had springs poking out so we had to ask for a replacement, the can opener didn't work so we asked for another one and that didn't work either. Trying to get a drink by the pool was a mission but we got there eventually

Review 41:Facilities are good, clean and well presented hotel

Review 42:Make sure you pay cash and not using your cc. It will be more than what you booked on here. 1.5% fee plus 2% exchange rate.

Review 43:The views from here was amazing. Room was comfortable as a hotel should be, complimentary coffee&tea top up. Free wifi daily. Pleasant 10-15 mins walk to the city through a nature path and along the Lake Wakatipu.

Review 44:No ramp to bring up your luggage and no one to help with luggage... so front desk is a hit and miss experience....

Review 45:Great Ambiance close to Tram Terminal and some funky cool small restaurants

Review 46:This was a spectacular place. The four of us had adjoining rooms. Each room had a kitchen, a large sitting area, a roomy bedroom, and many amenities. In the States, the rooms would have been three times as expensive as they were. The restaurant downstairs was excellent. We loved our stay!

Review 47:I am so happy we got to spend more than one night at the Heritage Queenstown. We were blown away by the views, hospitality of the staff and the absolutely beautiful rooms. As we have a 10 & 14 year old its not the kind of place we usually stay but the rates were so reasonable we couldnt believe that the quality of the hotel was so high. We also have to say that we have never slept in such comfortable beds, it was like sleeping on a giant marshmallow. Thanks so much for providing such a wonderful hotel at such wonderful prices. We will be staying there again for sure!!

Review 48:No one to take our bags (4 bags plus two ski bags to room, Forrester was down stairs, and had to walk through rain to get there with to many bags.) ordered porter for next day to come and collect bags, did not arrive, taxi was kept waiting while husband and son, and finally a porter bought the six bags all the way from the room. Hotel is great, but need to ensure service is met. We normally stay in club rooms, unsure if this lack of service was due to type of room? If so not good.

Review 49:Lovely Rooms, good facilities, Staff helped to ensure our 16 year old's room was next to ours. Food at McKenzie Restaurant well presented, and very nice.

Review 50:The main lounge/bar area was attached to the dining room. Whilst certainly adequate with a lovely log fire, it was on the smaller side and the furnishings were more aligned to dining as opposed to 'lounging'.

Review 51:I have to say the walls are thin and you can hear people talking and ( moaning ) through the interconnecting wall. This was not pleasant.

Review 52:It was lovely and peaceful, not too far from town and helpful staff.

Review 53:The acoustics were not great between rooms. We were woken up at 4am several times by the people next door closing the bathroom door and running the water.

Review 54:The location outside of the main centre. The view over the lake and forest. The amount of parking spaces. The friendly service by all staff.

Review 55:Was given an account with exactly same booking as mine - only to find it was not mine - but it was $300 cheaper as we had booked through the hotel and the other person who had a cheaper stay than us had booked through expaedia.

Review 56:Location was good

Review 57:Not very flexible on check out time even when u have a baby and toddler and a late flight (unless u want to pay $25p/hr)

Review 58:Great value for money compared to apartments

Review 59:the food although good is middle of the road compared with other restaurants in the area. the bar needs to be raised

Review 60:the facilities are good the restaurants layout and ambiance is very good

Review 61:Rooms did not have basics, such as cutlery, plates, bowls, microwave, toaster, etc. For the price of the rooms, these simple things could have been provided.

Review 62:Service was good.

Review 63:Wish we had stayed longer!!!

Review 64:Loved our entire stay. Bed is amazing, staff really friendly, this hotel is such a beautiful place, will def come back and stay. Good value for money considering its in Queenstown which is already expensive. Thanks heaps :-)

Review 65:The manager Chris went out of his way to grant our request to have a lakeview room. The staff were extra friendly. And it has a spectacular view of The Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu.

Review 66:The location is a bit far to town so having a free shuttle at regular interviews would be convenient.

Review 67:The staff provided exceptional, and professional service.I checked in early and they had help me move my luggage in the room while I was still out so when I got back, I could settle in straight away.

Review 68:Bed was super comfy room was very clean and when we asked for extra heating a heater was brought up to our room immediatley. Views were amazing and staff were very helpful

Review 69:No negatives to note.

Review 70:The staff were all very helpful, attentive and provided a top notch service. The facilities were all very good, we enjoyed using the spa and the outside pool. The room was warm, spacious and clean and contained all the basic necessities (tea, coffee, etc.). The bed was very comfortable, soo comfortable that it was hard for us to get up in the morning! We also dined at MacKenzies Restaurant and had the most amazing meal! The food was cooked to perfection and wait times between each dish was just perfect. Nice and warm place to spend a winter night in. The restaurant staff was also as friendly and attentive as the hotel staff. Overall, we had an amazing experience.

Review 71:The only down side is that it's located a little far out of Queenstown. The uspide of this is the free parking. You will also get fit very quickly if you plan on walking everywhere.

Review 72:Free parking & Wi-Fi. Staff very friendly & helpful. Board/ Ski storage. Guest laundry. Large rooms & soft bed. We booked last minute as we swiflty checked in/out of Rydges (Queenstown) because it was a complete dump. Staff at Heritage were friendly & more than happy to accommodate us asap.

Review 73:Bed was very uncomfortable

Review 74:Loved toasting marshmallows on the fire and having the use of games available to use in the bar after relaxing after your day

Review 75:Bit to far from town. Was in family block, neighbours running up hall and knocking on door at 11pm at night.

Review 76:Loved the open fire and marshmallows in the bar.Breakfast at a great price. Staff very helpful.

Review 77:Didn't like the shower and The lift was broken and couldn't be use for more than 2 days and having to go up and down 3 flights of stairs was annoying especially when had lots of luggage to carry. Some sort of compensation for the inconvenience would have been nice like a free breakfast

Review 78:Good under cover Parking and Clean room

Review 79:There isn't enough parking onsite for all rooms, sometimes had to park the car across the road (for free).

Review 80:Great view, very friendly staff, room in great condition and clean.

Review 81:The limited free wi-fi available. Only 1 toilet for 2 bedroom apartment. Cooking discouraged in the apartment with limited cookware. Housekeeping damaged our charger for handphones.

Review 82:Luxuriously appointed apartment. Fantastic view of the lake and alpine mountains - a million dollar view. Superbly comfortable beds.

Review 83:Very little!

Review 84:The bed was extremely comfy & our room was large enough not to feel like we were in a shoebox. The staff were excellent and tried to help when they could. Easy, safe parking. Good shower pressure.

Review 85:wi-fi wasn't enough and should be free this is a deal breaker for me as it stated free wi-fi on advert but it's only a certain amount which isn't much actually Need more cups in room as no way of cleaning them in between room service

Review 86:Beds are beautiful! Very comfortable! Pool and Spa and Gym

Review 87:The Heritage is a fantastic facility but is in urgent need of a facelift . The dining options including afternoon tea and room service are below average. .

Review 88:location and lodge feel

Review 89:The shower had a rail at the top of the door which was in poor repair and kept falling off - looked like a loose screw - some of the bathroom fittings looked a bit old and worn. The TV is pay for movies at $15 and has a custom remote which has little choice and is hard to read.

Review 90:Everything about Heritage Hotels rates its 4 stars. We enjoyed a beautiful room, the spa (not the pool, most of it is outside - too cold!) and an excellent breakfast on a winter special which made the buffet very affordable for our family. The toiletries are really lovely unlike most hotels/motels which have generic harsh shampoos.

Review 91:We were kept awake until after 3am by people in the next room talking loudly - we rang reception 3 times and they did their best by asking them to keep the noise down but the walls are just too thin, it was like being in the same room with them. It's a nice hotel but only if you can guarantee the people next door will be quiet!

Review 92:The bed is too soft, and heater make the room alittle dry,My room's washing machine cannot working...

Review 93:Beautiful view, very warm room,Big bed , peaceful ,close to town centre and nice staff

Review 94:The fire drill at 11pm! There did not seem to be anyone in charge. Poor information given, as in where not told what was going on

Review 95:Good sized Room Excellent parking

Review 96:Booked desert but the order never got put through. Waited 40mins. Think that you should only have one waiter not 5 per table.

Review 97:Loved the room and bed .

Review 98:Ideal for children. Good access to downtown. Good car parking on site. Bar staff remembered my drink of choice and had it waiting for me as I approached- perfect.

Review 99:The restuarant prices were quite expensive but on par with the rest of queenstown I guess. You could find really good cheap places to eat in town if you wanted to eat out.

Review 100:The room was great - big, clean and comfortable, with a view. We were in one of the studio rooms with kitchenette. The bed was the most comfortable i've ever slept on and the couch folded out for my daughter to sleep on which wasnt too bad either! Complimentary 500MB of internet per day was great too.

Review 101:The staff attitudes leave a lot to be desired in this establishment. Unfriendly & Unwilling to help despite the premium price we paid to stay in this Hotel. Our suggestion to anyone is to try the Ridges first it is half the cost & you are guaranteed a lake view. We will not be staying here ever again or recommending it to our wide network of family & friends.

Review 102:On arrival the staff were very helpful and courteous, if you required extra attention, it was given without hesitation. The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, easy walk to town. I recommend the Heritage to anyone, will visit again.

Review 103:Elevator is dodgy in the forest wing & wasn't working when we arrived. Fan in our bathroom wasn't working. nz is behind the times when it comes to paying for wifi, should be included in room rate.

Review 104:Close to town centre, warm room, underground parking was handy

Review 105:On arrival our room was cold and took a long time to heat up.

Review 106:Staff were friendly and helpful. Night meal was very well done The room was what we wanted

Review 107:May be a little bit dated for some people. Hairdryers need to be updated to something a bit more grunty, especially for winter stays.

Review 108:Great location, just far enough away from the main area of Queenstown with excellent views. Quiet hotel, huge rooms, very comfortable beds and pillows, good facilities.

Review 109:We decided to stay at the hotel for diner as we thought it would be of good quality. As much as te staff tried, they mucked up our drink orders first, then the rare steak I ordered was not what I would call rare and have never come across a rare steak that over cooked. I let the head waiter know and he gave me some mm depth of pink meat etc. So very disappointing when paying the amount expected for it.

Review 110:Nice place, great spa and gym.

Review 111:The view of the lake was spectacular. Although a little further out of town it was peaceful and quiet which we liked. The staff were excellent, friendly and always happy to assist.

Review 112:just to be fussy, there was no complimentary water, and the doors all have an inch gap underneath them. What is that about? The staff were average.

Review 113:I like to walk so the 15 minute walk to town was pleasant

Review 114:Pool was cold and smaller than advertised. quite old.

Review 115:Fantastic location. We travelled with a 7 months old baby and had a spacious room overlooking the Remarkables and the lake Wakatipu. Bathroom had a bath for our baby, great shower with a very hot water. This was a nice change because we stayed in a lot of 4 and 5 star hotels which had problems with hot enough water or powerful showers. Breakfast was very goom. staff friendly. Particularly a Czech born duty manager Zuzana! It was a very cozy hotel, perfect for an autumn trip.

Review 116:We like good value for money and casual dining at the fireside bar with great coffee where we could meet with friends from out of town, perfect for us.

Review 117:A little underwhelmed by the bathroom. For the price point I would expect a tiled shower and pocelain bath, instead both were of acylic / plastic and consequently very noisy when water running.

Review 118:Bed was very comfortable with quality linen and nice pillows.

Review 119:The place is a tad tired, decor could do with improving. A nice stay but perhaps not the best value for money in Queenstown.

Review 120:Lovely and welcoming staff. Helpful front desk people and a nice location slightly out of Queenstown.

Review 121:Not very good wifi and The walk back was up a hill so may not suit everyone to walk but $9 in a cab.

Review 122:Lovely hotel with amazing lake views. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in any hotel. Rooms were beautiful and clean and had lovely toiletries. It may be a bit far for some people to walk to town.

Review 123:I wish the bar had a cocktail list and the service in both the bar and restaurant could have been a bit better.

Review 124:We stayed here 3 nights over a 11 day span, returning to the hotel after hiking the Milford and Routeburn Tracks. Great service upon our return, as we were able to check in at 10:30 AM and our bags were already in our room. Great place when you need to do laundry.

Review 125:Sleep was terrible with extremely soft beds and no air-conditioning. The WiFi was limited and often could not log on - easily.

Review 126:The staff in the restaurant were good with a good breakfast.

Review 127:Breakfast, we felt, expensive but we ate own food on balcony overlooking lake with freshly brewed coffee and loaded up dishwasher before we left.

Review 128:Lakeside room amazing view. Breakfast on balcony. Everything in the room including hidden away washing machine. Most comfy bed ever. Very peaceful just few minutes walk from town. Handy for Arrowtown too.

Review 129:We received an upgrade to a Lakeview suite, looking directly on to the lake. The room was equipped with everything we needed including washing machine, dishwasher and a TV in both rooms. Wonderful

Review 130:The family rooms were missing any air conditioning, really hard to sleep and really really stuffy at night - just so hot

Review 131:Staff were great very friendly, restaurant food devine.
