Review 1：No bad experiences but came back from the lights and the room was overwhelmingly hot and it was hard to cool down as windows didn't open far enough

Review 6：There's a problem that me and my family found everywhere in NZ's motels: the curtains let in too much light and you can't really sleep in. Also here at Carrington the pressure of the water in the shower was really too high (Lonely Planet rightly defined it as "tsunami-like")

Review 10：Nothing that I can think of other than the walls being a bit thin which seems to be the norm at most motels. We only had neighbours for a few nights we were there so wasn't a problem.
Review 11：Owners are very friendly and helpful. We stayed 7 nights over the Christmas season and were made to feel very welcome. Good sized room with separate kitchenette. Nice power shower and quiet location but also central. Full length mirror which we appreciated when getting ready for a friend's wedding.
Review 12：Location, the motel is within walking distance of Pukakura Park and the coast. We come to NP almost every year for a pre-Christmas holiday and usually stay at the Carrington.
Review 13：Definitely would go back there. Great value especially for a last minute booking. The staff member was amazing, more than generous with information about what was going on in the area. The room was clean and comfortable, if there was anything to be improved would be the fact that the table could only fit 3 people at it where the room was to cater for more than that.

Review 20：They didn't honour our booking, even though we had a confirmation from this website. They had given our room to someone else, so we had to go to another motel. And they did not offer to look for other accomadation such as ring around for us admittedly they mentioned two motels did not check if there was any vacancies just we are sorry.

Review 26：It was quite central without being too close to the main roads, it had all the basics of home and although I would not say luxurious it had everything we needed in a room - comfy beds and kitchen facilities. It was reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly whenever we went to ask anything.

Review 43：Bit overpriced given decor is mismatched and a few decades old. A staff member walked into our room via the service door one morning when my husband had just stepped out of the shower. It was fairly obvious we hadn't gone out yet for the day, and the staff member gave no apology, so not sure what that was all about, but pretty disconcerting. Might try somewhere else next time.

Review 50：The motel is c. 10 minutes easy walk from the centre where options to eat are plentiful. 5 more minutes to waterfront. Room was large, everything was working well, wifi is free and efficient. Carrying heavy luggage upstairs might be problem for some. Anyway, recommended place to stay while in New Plymouth.

Pipes noisy in bathroom. Lounge room light flickered. Only minor things like I said. Very Happy customer overall.

Review 68：This is the best motel we have stayed in while travelling around the North Island. For the price it is amazing! Big rooms, great tv size, great kitchen amenities. Fabulous friendly staff and a beautiful place to stay. If we come back to this area again this is the only place I'll stay at. Felt like home! Love the duck too :))

Review 105：I stayed there on the 1 July. When I made reservation I asked for a quiet room, it turned out to a bad night. accommodation service, you would expect a place you would have a good night sleep right ? first I got waken up by their roommaid who was cleaing the room upper floor at 8.30am. They cleaned the room straight after guest checked out despite the disruption to other guest on the lower floor. It seems to me that they do this on purpose to get rid of the guest to check out as soon as possible. Second i was so surprised, their roommaid knocked the door and then sudden open without a 2 second wait. The worst part I was naked after came out from the shower. This happened at 9.55am according to my smartphone. This was an unacceptable practice. there is an internal door that the motelier or roommaid can open into your room at any time, sorry you cannot lock the door from inside. they also have a sign inside the room saying that guest must clean the dishes before they leave, its not part of their service ! I will not return and wouls not recommend this motel at all. the interior is tiring and old, they only provide limited facilities and lower quality of amenities.
